Story
Baxter was adopted in North Carolina and we were told he was positive for heartworm. The non profit that was supposed to cover his treatment ghosted us and we had to pay out of pocket. He is finishing his last round of prednisone as of 5/13/26 and in a few weeks will get blood drawn to confirm his negative status. We were also told he was raised with a cat so he was good with them. This turned out to be untrue as he attempts to chase my cats constantly, and yesterday he slipped out of my hold and jumped on my cat repeatedly. I only see his behavior escalating. He is a great dog when it’s just him and I. Super snuggly, listens to commands well, goes in the kennel without any resistance, etc. Unfortunately I just do not have the money to get him properly trained after spending over $1,000 on his treatment. If he can go into a household without any small children or other pets I think that would be the best for him! Please give this sweetheart a chance!

Story
DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Lady is 4yo, weighs 55lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Lady dislikes her feet being touched or her toe nails being cut.  Lady stays on the main level of the home during the day and sleeps in her crate or in the bed at night.  She loves car rides.  Her guardian adds:   "Lady May is a delightful 4-year-old pup with a heart of gold!!  Lady May's zest for life shines brightest during hikes and sunny days, where she loves to explore the great outdoors.  Yet, don't be fooled by her adverturous spirit; indoors, she transforms into the ultimate couch companion, relishing in snuggles and cozy naps under the covers.  Lady May is not only a sunbather but also a master of relaxation, making her the perfect balance between active and laid-back.  Plus, with her stellar potty and crate training, she's a breeze to care for. The issue [incompatibility with canine housemate] began almost a year ago, and since then, I have taken several steps to resolve it.  In regards to aggression towards my other dog, it was always random.  Lady would just corner Oakley and grab onto his extra skin.  Initially, I took Lady to the vet, who referred me to a trainer.  When this did not help, I sought the advice of a dog behavior specialist, again upon the recommendation of my vet.  Despite these efforts, the situation has not improved.  My vet mentioned that some dogs reach their full maturity at age 4 and may experience personality changes, including becoming dog-aggressive.  To help Lady during this stressful time, the vet recommended Lady be put on anxiety medication.  NOTE:  I have a report from my behavior specialist I will provide upon request to prospective adopter(s)." Lady's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  "Ongoing issues with her no longer getting along with her housemate, my other dog." Lunge/Attack/Bite Incident:  More than 10 days ago in Sykesville, MD Lady bit her canine housemate; the bite didn't break the skin; animal control was not involved. Lady's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "Lady is currently on anxiety medication." Lady's guardian states the following regarding children:  Since Lady lives with children (ages 7, 10, and 16), her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "She is very laid back around children". Lady's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Lady lives with a dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "She will bark at other dogs.  While on walks, if she sees another dog, she will try to get near the dog and get on her hind legs". Lady's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Lady hasn't lived with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She will bark at cats". Lady's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Indoor Only Pet House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Lady's guardian describes her ideal future home: "Lady's ideal home would have a fenced in backyard, and no other pets in the home.  I would like her to go to an active family that would be able to take her on walks and or hikes." We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Hattie is 1yo, weighs 30lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, but is not microchipped.  Hattie doesn't like sudden loud noises; she's okay during car rides, but lies on the floor.  She is in her crate at home when guardian is not at home; she sleeps in the guardian's bed at night. Hattie's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her:  Hattie's guardian took her because she was with a family member whose suddenly is experiencing severe health problems. Bite Incident:  In March 2024, Hattie bit her canine sibling because she tried to take Hattie's bone away from her.  The bite didn't break the skin, animal control was not involved, and medical treatment was unwarranted. Hattie's guardian states the following regarding children:  Hattie hasn't lived with children so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with children, stating "She's been okay but at times can be unpredictable".  Hattie's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Hattie currently lives with an older dog, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "She barks but thinks the older dog triggers that". Meet Roxy!Roxy is a sweet, loyal girl looking for her forever home. She loves being around people and is wonderful with kids — gentle, patient, and always ready to protect the family she loves. She has a calm but playful personality and enjoys cuddles just as much as outdoor time.It Would Be Best if Roxy is the only dog in the home and is not compatible with cats, but she makes up for it with all the love and loyalty she gives to her humans. She’s the kind of dog who bonds deeply and will always be by your side.If you’re looking for a devoted companion and a natural protector, Roxy might be the perfect match. She’s ready to meet the family who will love her just as much as she’ll love them. Please help me Rehome her immediately so she doesn’t go to the shelter I don’t want any adoption fee. I just want her to go to a good home.

Story
Charity is a sweet, affectionate girl who is ready to find a loving home where she can soak up all the cuddles she adores. She’s a calm, easygoing companion who enjoys lounging around just as much as she loves spending time with her people—nudging your hand for pets, curling up close, and happily bonding with everyone she meets, including children. Charity already knows several commands like sit, lay down, “paw,” and “go to cage,” and she’s very treat-motivated, making her a joy to continue training with. She’s well-mannered for grooming, happily tolerates baths (and even has fun trying to catch the water from the hose!), and relaxes quietly when crated for a few hours. With her gentle nature, loving personality, and laid-back energy, Charity is the perfect cuddle buddy just waiting to be someone’s loyal best friend.
