Story
I`m in a foster home! To adopt me, email my foster parent at mistip1@umbc.edu.Sweetheart Tigris is a wonderful gal in search of a new home. She was adopted from us a while back, but her owner is being deployed and she’s here waiting so patiently for a new family to call her own. Tigris is a lovely and delightful pup who enjoys long walks and gentle pettings. Tigris also has some fun energy too. She is eager to engage and be a part of the fun. And treats! Well, she really likes them and is always eager to earn a treat. Tigris does have a food allergy, but she does very well on a Wegman’s Salmon Food and grain free dry food. So, no poultry or lamb for this precious doggie. Tigris is fast becoming a volunteer favorite, and they share, `Tigris loves fetch. She knows sit. She’s very affectionate (she likes to sit on laps even though she’s a big dog). She likes to sit in the yard in the sun and watch people. 10/10- good girl!` Can you give this very good girl the new life she so wants and deserves? Meet this beauty today!

Story
*Woof* Meet Ava at 71 Oglethorpe St NW between 12pm-7pm daily!Do you long for the companionship of someone who reacts to the doorbell like it’s the FBI and she’s got secrets? Are you looking to meet an opinionated gal with the judgmental gaze of someone who lived through the Great Depression twice? Meet Ava. Ok, so MAYBE she gives out toothbrushes on Halloween. And fine, she might have the bark of a foghorn. And the underbite? Oh, it’s there, loud and proud. She could scoop her own ice cream or catch rainwater with that majestic mandible. But underneath all that dramatic flair? A big ol’ clumsy marshmallow. Once Ava decides you’re part of her inner circle (usually after a few treats and some heartfelt gossip), she’s a total ham. She`s goofy and affectionate, the kind of dog who’ll nudge your hand for pets, flop over dramatically for belly rubs, and snooze by your feet with an indiscreet and nonchalant snore. And the best part? Ava doesn’t run, she hops like a bunny…a very excited, slightly chaotic bunny. Watching her bunny-bounce is equal parts majestic and concerning. It’s her signature move and we can’t get enough of it. She’s 50% grandma, 50% goblin and 100% done with our nonsense. She’s been around the block, and she knows what she likes: comfy beds, tasty snacks, and people who appreciate a pouty face.If you’re looking for a loyal, hilarious, slightly judgy best friend who frolics with the agility of a newborn deer, Ava’s your girl.

Story
Finnegan is a goofy and utterly loving/devoted dog. He’s originally a rescue from NC and has lived in DC for the last 4 years. He loves rolling in meadows, lounging, and being around people. We are looking to rehome Finn because he needs a different environment from what we can offer. He was badly abused before he came to us and has fairly severe anxiety/reactivity to noises and other sudden stimuli. We have a new baby in a small apartment and unfortunately Finn is too much on top of that. He also has reactivity to some (but not all) dogs, though he has gotten much better on walks with training over the years. Finn currently takes several medications for his anxiety and receives care from the Animal Behavior Wellness Center in Fairfax. We think Finn would do well in a full-sized home that is quiet and has space/a backyard for him to run around. Finn is a sleepy angel 95% of the time but also loves playtime, and needs someone who can commit to continued training and anxiety management

Personality: playful, snuggler, affectionate, gentle, respectful, loyal, low-maintenance, sweet, trusting, joyful, adaptable, and goofy/funny. Presenting Calzone, an incredibly loving pup who is the perfect blend of puppy joy and senior calm. This fun, goofy, and gentle soul makes companionship feel effortless. With his expressive eyes and affectionate nature, cuddly Calzone has a special way of making you feel like the most loved person in the room. This adaptable boy is low-maintenance and very emotionally intuitive. He’s playful when it’s time to have fun, but knows how to chill and comfort you, too. Whether you’re taking a nap or a stroll, Calzone is just happy to be by your side. And he’s always eager to warmly greet guests and soak up gentle pets! If you need to leave him alone, he’s trustworthy and patient, often opting to nap uncrated until you return to receive his affectionate greeting. He’s making good progress with house training, too. While Calzone is still learning to be around other dogs and would do best as the only pup, he’s very respectful and gentle with smaller animals, including cats, rodents, and even the occasional rooster! Ready to welcome a devoted, snuggly companion into your life? Apply today to meet Calzone! Calzone was rescued from the euthanasia list in rural North Carolina. He is sponsored in Pizza’s memory, with the hope that Calzon’s new human experiences the same bond and love that Pizza and Lloyd shared. ___________________________________________________________________ If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. Story
*IF POSSIBLE I WANT TO KEEP THEM TOGETHER AND TO BE REHOMED IN A HOUSE. THESE ARE GENTLE GIANTS.* Duce has white paws and this is how to tell the difference between the two. Duce is one of two pit bulls who very sweet. He has a brother who he has been with since birth and they are both loving dogs. I received both of them from my mother and she has their mother(Zoey) and father(Gotti). Duce is 3 years old. His birthday is February 11, he was born in 2022. Duce is a very patient and obedient dog. Surprisingly him nor his brother barks. I was so concerned when they were younger and took them to the vet to checked out, but everything is ok; they can bark but for the three years that I had them I probably heard them bark about five times, and that is not me exaggerating. Duce is more laid back than his brother Demi. Duce LOVES attention, but he would rather just relax on a sofa somewhere and watch his brother run around. He is MUCH more relaxed than Demi.
