Story
Introducing Stripes, a gentle soul with a heart as warm as her beautiful tan and black coat. This sweet Boxer/Labrador mix weighs 58 pounds and is on a journey to gain a bit more, with lots of love and treats along the way. A recent mama, Stripes has all the nurturing qualities you'd dream of in a companion-timid yet incredibly sweet; she's a testament to the power of gentle reassurance. Stripes's demeanor is as soft as her gaze, making her the perfect addition to a calm, loving home that can provide the security and affection she deserves. She does well in the company of other dogs but is clearly a people dog, and focuses immediately on those around her and leans in for all she can get. She has medium energy level and the most irresistible of mugs around! Step into Stripes's life and watch as she beautifully blends into yours. If you're ready to earn her trust and love, submit your adoption request today-Stripes is waiting to paint a brighter future with you! *Weekend Host feedback: "She wants to do anything to please her human. She's crate and potty trained. She loves to chase balls (getting her to bring them back is a work in progress) and play hide and seek". Recent Weekend Host commented: "Stripes did great with our other 2 dogs. " "She seems housetrained. At least, she did not have any accidents. " "No real issues with her crate. We coaxed her in with treats. The first night she barked a bit, but then settled down." "Stripes can be pretty strong on the leash. She seems fairly food motivated and we were able to work on some of that this weekend. She got better on the leash during the walks around our house." "She rides well in the car. " " She took to me right away (the only female in the house), but was really slow to warm up to my husband and 2 teen boys. " "Her demeanor is puppy-ish without the destructive behavior. She loved chewing on nylabones, kongs (filled or not), playing fetch and even liked getting in the lake. " "Overall, Stripes is a big, slobbery love bug who thinks she should be a lap dog (lol)."

Story
Love and Harmony too! Peace is bringing it all and she is just the cutest boxer mix girl wrapped up in a petite body with all of the lovable and adorable features of a boxer. Lean and with a squared off black nose, Peace is an adult who weighs about 28 lbs but is a bit on the lean side still. This gal has a great energy level and will be able to keep up and be on the go with you and yours as easily as she will be able to hang out on a cool Sunday afternoon and make the most of snacking and Netflix-ing at the same time. She does well with other dogs but could also fly solo and could fit in most any home. She is a gorgeous chick waiting to bring the trio of Peace, Love and Harmony to your house! She is legit groovy!

Story
(DOB 07/29/2021) **SWEET DOG ALERT** Evie is the sweetest dog you will ever meet! Her outgoing personality coupled with her extreme excitement upon meeting her human will warm your heart and make you want to smother her with love and affection. She enjoys long walks and playful banter; while her calm and gentle disposition creates a near perfect balance for a family. Oh, and let us not forget, she pretty much has the BEST puppy dog eyes and face that draw you in quickly! She pulls out all the stoppers with her adorable facial expression!!  Above all, she just wants to feel loved and just loves to be with her humans! We really want to stress her gentle nature. She taking treats gently and is just a doll. If there is a toy in her mouth, you can take it from without any issue same if she happens to be chewing on a piece of mulch outside. She easily gives it up.  Evie enjoys about 4 walks a day, and they are about .5 to 1.5 each depending on the temperature. She is VERY good on a leash so an excellent little companion on your daily strolls. She also enjoys the freedom to run around and play in her foster's fenced in yard, so she needs space to run, run, run!!  With that said, Evie doesn't require a fenced in yard so if you live in a condo, townhome, or apartment Evie, could be the pup for you just as long as you are fairly active. After her daily walks or playtime, Evie is happy to chill out in her crate or snuggle up near you for a little nap. During which time, you may catch the cutest smile on her face. She loves to be loved and happy to share kisses with you. She is dog-friendly and is always ready to romp with some friends--she is a doggie daycare fan! She gets very excited to greet you and will jump up on you out of pure joy and excitement. It may be a little much at first, but we promise you, you will certainly feel loved and appreciated! (Nonetheless, we are working with Evie to stop this behavior). Evie likes her food and treats but isn’t super motivated by high value treats. Evie would be fine as an only dog, and she would reveal in the one-on-one attention she would get from her family. Evie also hasn't met a car she didn't like! Pack her up and take Evie with you because being a co-pilot is one of her favorite things! Doesn’t love going in her crate but once settled she’s good. Evie, in places and with new people, is shy at first. Oh, and those loud, noisy lawnmowers must certainly be monsters or aliens because they sure are scary!! She just needs a little time and patience and then she is comfortable. An example of this is, if she goes for a walk in a new neighborhood, she takes her time to familarize herself with scents before she feels comfortable to use the bathroom. Evie is good with kids but older kids may be best just due to her energy level. She wouldn't want to accidently knock down a little one. Evie hasn't met cats and is new to her foster home so slow and proper introductions will occur with their personal dog. If you want to add a great addition to the family that compliments a loving environment, Evie is the dog for you. She is absolutely wonderful. As part of Evie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Evie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2149816##

Story
(DOB 5/20/2024) Due to Zuma’s young age, he has not yet been neutered.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  First and foremost, Zuma will need a home with at least one PLAYFUL dog. A dog young and patient enough to want to be a fun and gentle playmate for him as well as a good doggie-role model. Puppies naturally learn from other dogs and build confidence, bite inhibition and boundaries from their older doggie siblings. Zuma has happily adjusted to his new foster family and has a calm confidence at his young age. Though, he is a bit more reserved than his two brothers and is quieter and more observant. As if, he is" reading the room". Zuma is a puppy that is always happy and appreciative of everything you do for him. He enjoys affection like any other puppy would. He is quite the love bug and will snort and snuggle up to you; he is adorable!! If you have the time and energy for a brand new puppy which includes positive and lots of different adventures and activities to start their young development, ready for adolescent behavior, and want to help cute Zuma to grow into a well-behaved adult dog, then let's chat! Puppies need a lot of time attention, so someone who is at home the majority of the day is neeeded. No 8+ hour work or school days away from home. They need lots of potty breaks to quickly work on proper potty training and lots of interval play time. He is at the pee, poop, play, eat and sleep routine of life. Plus, it is already a great time to begin basic manners. They are sponges and their little brains are growing rapidly at this age. We encourage LOTS of activities outside of the home. The more places, people and things young Zuma is introduce to early on the better his socialization skills become. Positive reinforcement puppy classes are a great opportunity as well. Zuma is good with kids and if there are children in his forever family, it is best if they are older. Puppies are teething and are notorious for putting everything in their mouths (just like young children) and their mouths have very sharp baby teeth. Little kids fingers, toes, or other body parts are fair game as Zuma is playing and having a good time. Zuma wouldn't want to accidently hurt a toddler. This is a good reminder to have a variety of toys and different daily activities to keep Zuma's young mind and body active. As we like to say, a well behaved puppy is a tired puppy...once Zuma has had is interval playtimes throughout the day, he will be happy to nap and snuggle. To that end, his new family should have a least one person home most of the time for several reasons; puppies not only need regular playtimes, they need a solid routine for potty training, and they need socialization. Puppies need to meet, do, see, go to as many new places, things, etc. in their 1st year to build their personalities and overall confidence. Ready, willing, able; then so is Zuma!! As part of Zuma’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Zuma, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2149823##

Puppies naturally learn from other dogs and build confidence, bite inhibition and boundaries from their older doggie siblings. Marshall is literally the Big Brother of his litter. Marshall is the largest of the litter, and he let's his baby sister know who's the boss! But just like the others, he wants love and affection and is happy to return it!! Adorable, confident, and adventurous is how we would describe Marshall. He enjoys being the “voice of the group” and is very playful. Marshall loves to engage in playful banter but when it’s time to relax, he will grab his chew toy and chill out for a relax for a bit. Cuddles and playing is the name of the game for Marshall!
