Story
Meet Selena! This super sweet, energetic, and loving girl is ready for her forever home! She is an absolute goofball and is welcoming to any and everyone. It's hard not to fall in love with her. Selena is fully potty trained and has had no accidents despite recently living in a boarding facility. Selena is a high energy dog who loves to run around and burn off lots of energy! Her favorite thing to do is go on a long walk at the end of the day. Selena would thrive with an owner who can dedicate a couple of hours a day of exercising her. Selena would best fit in a home with no cats or small animals given her history of liking to chase small animals. Selena is quite the escape artist and can break out of a normal wire crate. She is also super snuggly and loves getting lots of attention. She does have a heart murmur that has been assessed by a cardiologist - she has no symptoms, so she is currently on a twice a day pill that she takes in a treat! If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly, and energetic pup, Selena might be the perfect match for you!Adoption fee of $150 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: https://2pawsup.org/applications/adoption-application/March 11, 2026, 12:57 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Toby is still looking for a home.  He was found as a stray in April, the owners (located via his chip), couldn’t take him back.  The vet says he’s a Sharpei mix, and estimated to be between 2-4 yrs old.  I have completely vetted him and he is now fully healed from his neuter. His vet care to this point has exceeded $300-but he is in great health and ready for a forever, loving home.  I am keeping him on flea, tick and hw prevention while in my care. Toby is: house trained, takes treats gently, has leash manners, wants to be with someone, loves lap time, enjoys being outside. Toby would love a home without small children (he gets jumpy excited) and someone able to walk him.  A fenced yard isn’t required, but would be nice.  Not sure about shared walls housing since he has a deep bark. We currently keep him separated from my dogs since they are not always nice to others.  We have taken Toby to a park to see his reaction in public. He ignores adults, nub wags at children, but gets jumpy excited when dogs walked by.  When on walks, he shows interest in squirrels, rabbits but is brought back on track with a stern “No”.  When in the fenced yard, he plays and self entertains, and checks to see you’re still there once in awhile. A meet and greet is required and I am asking for a $300 rehoming fee.  He will keep his new bed, new collar and of course his toys to help with his adjustment into a new home.  Please keep in mind dogs may take a few weeks to get settled in a new home.  We could tell Toby had been through a lot and took him about 2 weeks to feel comfortable.  He is now on a “schedule” and responds to “go for a walk”, “ready breakfast”, “ready for supper”, and “ready for bed?”.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.July 26, 2026, 9:24 pm

Story
After nearly eight years together, we are seeking a loving new home for Felix. Felix is a wonderful 8 year old companion who has been with us since he was a 8 months old. He is calm and independent at home, though he is famous for carrying his special ball with him wherever he goes. He is a loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people and is good on a leash, making him the perfect partner for long walks or hikes and keeps close even when off leash. While he is social and enjoys playing with other dogs, he has found it difficult to adjust to the high energy of our one-year-old. Felix is perfectly fine sharing a room with children who understand boundaries, but he likes his personal space and would be happiest in a home with older kids or adults only. We want to ensure he finds a family that can offer him the affection and boundaries he needs to thrive.

Story
Meet Apollo 🐾 Apollo is a 14-month-old pit bull with a big personality, a bigger heart, and an endless supply of joy. This sweet wild man is playful, curious, and absolutely loves being near his people. If you’re looking for a cuddle buddy who also brings the fun, Apollo is your guy. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs and spends his days romping around the backyard with his foster siblings, toys in tow. Toys are a must in Apollo’s world, and playtime is one of his favorite things—right alongside snuggling up close to his humans. Apollo is a smart, food-motivated boy who already knows sit and is currently working on down. Training is going well, especially when treats are involved (fair warning: his favorite game is counter surfing 😄). He’s also learned to use the dog door and has been very reliable about going outside when he needs to. Now, a few things to know about Apollo’s unique charm: he’s a bit of an escape artist and doesn’t love being left alone in a crate. In fact, he’s managed to break out of several kinds—only to be found later, very proud of himself, relaxing on the couch with a toy. He will lay down calmly in his crate if he knows you’re in the room, because Apollo really just wants company. Apollo is currently undergoing treatment for heartworm, but don’t let that fool you—his spirit is unstoppable, and his happiness shines through every day. This playful goofball turned cuddle bug is ready for a forever home that will embrace his energy, continue his training, laugh at his antics, and give him the love he craves. If you’re ready for a loyal, affectionate, toy-loving companion, Apollo can’t wait to meet you. ❤️🐶

Nala is a 5 year old, 75 lb American Pitbull Terrier mix with a heart as soft as her snuggles! Quick Facts: Name: Nala Breed: American Pitbull Terrier Age: 5 years old Weight: 75 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: No (needs to be an only dog). She is fine meeting other dogs on walks when with her people Good with Cats: Not tested, likely ok Good with Kids: Yes Energy Level: Low (she’s a “House Hippo” at heart) Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Cedar Grove, NC About Nala’s Breed: Our best guess is that Nala is a American Pitbull Terrier breed. American Pitbull Terriers are known for their loving, people focused, affectionate nature, often forming incredibly strong bonds with their families. They’re social, expressive dogs who thrive on closeness and connection, and they’re famously gentle, goofy, and eager to please. Despite their muscular build, most pitties are true softies — happiest curled up beside their humans, soaking in affection, and enjoying calm companionship. Their ideal home is one that offers steady routines, plenty of affection, and lots of quality time together. Pitties flourish with adopters who appreciate their snuggly, loyal personalities and who enjoy having a dog that wants to be part of daily life. They do well in homes that provide gentle guidance, cozy spaces, and opportunities for relaxed walks or light activity. A perfect environment for this breed is one where they can be the center of love, included in family moments, and cherished for their warm, affectionate hearts. What to Love about Nala: Nala is the definition of a calm, loving companion — happiest curled up beside her person, soaking in affection, and turning every quiet moment into quality time. While she enjoys the occasional walk or hike, Nala’s true joy is cuddling on the couch, watching a movie, and simply being close to her humans. She’s gentle, sweet, and incredibly easygoing, the kind of dog who settles beautifully into a relaxed home! Nala is potty trained, house trained, and crate trained, and she’s quiet and calm when crated. She’s perfect for grooming and nail trims, treat motivated, and wonderfully polite around the house. She loves all people and is a total social butterfly — hosting visitors is her favorite because it means more pets and attention! She’s fantastic with kids of all ages and previously lived with cats, making her a great fit for families of many shapes. While Nala is friendly when meeting dogs on walks, she prefers to be the one and only dog in her home. She shines brightest when she has her people all to herself, and her affectionate nature truly blossoms when she’s the center of attention. With her calm demeanor, cozy lifestyle, and irresistible pittie charm, Nala is the quintessential house hippo — happiest lounging in her bed or cuddled up beside you! If you’re looking for a gentle, loving, low key companion who wants nothing more than to be your best friend, Nala is ready to fill your home with warmth, snuggles, and unwavering devotion! Nala’s Notable Highlights: • 5 year old, 75 lb Pittie mix with a sweet, gentle, deeply affectionate nature • Champion cuddler who prefers movie nights and couch snuggles over high energy adventures • Calm, easygoing companion who loves relaxing nearby her person in a cozy spot • Perfect with grooming — great for nails, baths, and handling • Potty trained, house trained, and crate trained — quiet and calm in her crate when you leave • Social butterfly who adores hosting visitors because it means more pets • Wonderful with kids of all ages and previously lived peacefully with cats • Needs to be an only dog but is polite meeting dogs on walks • Great on a leash and enjoys gentle strolls or occasional hikes • Ideal for a relaxed home seeking a loving, calm, snuggly companion who shines in the spotlight Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. COURTESY LISTING - SEE DISCLAIMER BELOW FOR ADOPTION DETAILS AND CONTACT INFORMATION.  Meet Baloo – Your Adventure Buddy, Couch Companion, and Best Friend Baloo is a 3–4-year-old Pit Bull/Labrador Retriever mix weighing about 60 pounds, and he has one simple goal in life: to be wherever his people are. Whether you're heading out for a morning jog, exploring a new trail, spending the afternoon running errands, or settling in for a cozy movie night, Baloo is all in. He's the kind of dog who doesn't need a perfect day—he just wants to share it with you. This handsome boy is neutered, housebroken, crate-trained, and comfortable staying home while you're at work. He happily relaxes in his crate during the day and is ready to greet you with excitement when you get home. He's also leash-trained, though he's enthusiastic on walks and would benefit from continued work on pulling. He's definitely more vocal when he's out exploring than he is at home, where he's content to relax and enjoy the quiet. Baloo has never met a stranger. He loves meeting new people and is wonderful with children of all ages, making friends wherever he goes. Around the house, he's equal parts protector, comedian, cuddle expert, and athlete. One minute he'll have you laughing with his goofy antics, and the next he'll be curled up beside you, convinced he's the perfect-sized lap dog. When it comes to other pets, Baloo does best with thoughtful introductions.  He would likely thrive as the only dog in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention. However, an experienced owner who understands dog introductions could potentially help him live successfully with the right canine companion. He has shown that he's generally more comfortable around cats, although slow introductions are still important because he can get very excited. Baloo doesn't require a fenced yard and could do well in an apartment or townhouse (that allow Pit mixes), provided he gets regular walks, exercise, and mental enrichment. His adaptable personality means he's just as happy being your workout partner as he is spending a lazy Sunday stretched out on the couch. More than anything, Baloo is looking for someone to love with his whole heart. He's loyal, affectionate, endlessly entertaining, and ready to become someone's forever companion. If you're searching for a dog who will celebrate every adventure, every quiet moment, and every day by your side, Baloo is ready to meet you. Could you be the forever family this incredible boy has been waiting for? DISCLAIMER: We hope you'll consider adopting Baloo. He is a privately rescued dog. This means that Baloo is not a part of or associated with Best Friend Pet Adoption (BFPA). The bio information listed for him was provided by individual caregivers and not verified by BFPA. Adoption arrangements will be a private arrangement between you and the private rescuer. As with any dog adoption, BFPA encourages potential adopters to gain as much information as possible before adopting. This includes temperament testing and verification of vet records to ensure the dog is in good health, UTD on vaccinations and has been sterilized. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.       FOSTER COMMENTS:  Meet Apricot – The Sweetest Little Shadow You’ll Ever Have! Looking for a loyal sidekick who will keep you smiling and your heart full?  Apricot, a smart, affectionate, and curious 8 month old  pup who’s just waiting for his forever family.  He didn't have the easiest start to life, but he is learning all about people and other dogs and making big strides! Apricot is crate trained, housebroken, and walks nicely on a leash—a total gentleman in the home and out on adventures. He has a moderate energy level: happy to join you for walks and playtime but also excellent at settling down for snuggles and naps. In fact, Apricot is a certified cuddle bug—he loves following his humans around and being part of whatever you’re doing. He enjoys meeting new people, can be a little cautious at first, but once he warms up, his loving and goofy personality shines. Apricot is cautious with new dog friends,  so he’d do best with calm, patient canine companions—or he’d be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. He’s best suited for homes with older kids,  and while he doesn’t need a fenced yard, he’ll thrive with daily walks and quality time with his people. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, work from home or go into the office, Apricot will adjust beautifully. He’s smart, eager to please, and still learning about the world—a wonderful mix of playful curiosity and easy companionship. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate pup who will bring warmth and joy to your days, Apricot is ready to be your best friend.  Adopt Apricot—your sweet, snuggly shadow is waiting! To help him become the best dog possible, his adopter will be given additional training sessions with our preferred training facility for 4 months (or 12 sessions) of free 1:1 training.  This is a great benefit for both Apricot and his new home.  Apricot is part of a puppy litter that someone was giving away for free.  Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted them to our rescue to make sure they have proper medical care and find loving homes.   Could one of those homes be with you?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a Best Friend Pet Adoption veterinarian in the Cary area for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.   Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants live within an hours drive of Cary NC.
