Story
Meet Chip — a 1-year-old Boxer/Pit Mix weighing 42 lbs, full of energy, charm, and love! Quick Facts: Name: Chip Breed: Boxer/Pitbull Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 42 lbs. House-Trained: Yes Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Should be the only dog in the house Good with Cats: No (unless they really like to be chased!) Good with Kids: Would do best in an adult only home Energy Level: Medium to High Fence Required: No (he is good on a leash) About Chip’s Breed: Our best guess is that Chip is a Boxer/Pitbull mix. The Boxer/Pitbull mix, often called a Bullboxer Pit, is a strong, energetic, and affectionate hybrid breed. They combine the loyalty and protective instincts of the Pitbull with the playful, athletic nature of the Boxer, making them excellent companions for active families. These dogs are typically medium to large in size (around 50–80 lbs) and thrive in homes where they receive consistent training, early socialization, and plenty of exercise. They are known to be loving, loyal, and good with children, but because of their energy and strength, they do best with experienced owners who can provide structure and outlets for play. An ideal home for a Boxer/Pitbull mix is one with space to run, an active lifestyle, and a family ready to give them both affection and guidance. All About Chip: Chip is “all boy” with a playful spirit and an infectious little smile that wins hearts everywhere he goes! Despite a rough start to life, his endearing nature shines through—he’s potty trained, crate trained, and has excellent house manners. He can be trusted uncrated when you’re away and is very polite at mealtime, though his love of food means he’ll happily scarf down his own (and anyone else’s) if given the chance! Known as the “social butterfly” of the rescue, Chip loves literally everyone he meets. He’s an enthusiastic playmate but would do best as the only pet in the house. On leash, Chip does well and would thrive with an active family ready for adventures like hiking, running, or long walks. He has a more dominant play style. While he loves to snuggle and hug, Chip can be what we jokingly refer to as “aggressively affectionate”, sometimes to the point of being overwhelming, but he responds beautifully to food treats and positive reinforcement. Chip’s Highlights: • 42 lbs of playful energy, loves to play hard and smile big • Potty and crate trained, with great house manners • Social butterfly, adores people but would do best with adults only • Best with school-aged kids, loves active play • Wants to be your one and only pet! • Adventure-ready, enjoys hiking, running, and walking • Affectionate snuggler, loves hugs and responds well to treats Chip is the bestest, best boy—a loving, playful companion who’s ready to bring joy, laughter, and adventure to his forever family! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Please note that questions via email or social media channels may not receive a response without a completed application. As part of our commitment to responsible adoption practices, we require excellent veterinarian references and conduct virtual home visits. Additionally, your prior or current dog must be on year-round heartworm prevention. We assist with coordinating transportation by both land and air whenever feasible. All assessments regarding breed and age are conducted by licensed veterinarians. We look forward to assisting you in finding your perfect canine companion!February 15, 2026, 7:52 pm

Story
Meet Selena! This super sweet, energetic, and loving girl is ready for her forever home! She is an absolute goofball and is welcoming to any and everyone. It's hard not to fall in love with her. Selena is fully potty trained and has had no accidents despite recently living in a boarding facility. Selena is a high energy dog who loves to run around and burn off lots of energy! Her favorite thing to do is go on a long walk at the end of the day. Selena would thrive with an owner who can dedicate a couple of hours a day of exercising her. Selena would best fit in a home with no cats or small animals given her history of liking to chase small animals. Selena is quite the escape artist and can break out of a normal wire crate. She is also super snuggly and loves getting lots of attention. She does have a heart murmur that has been assessed by a cardiologist - she has no symptoms, so she is currently on a twice a day pill that she takes in a treat! If you're looking for a sweet, cuddly, and energetic pup, Selena might be the perfect match for you!Adoption fee of $150 includes spay, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: https://2pawsup.org/applications/adoption-application/August 21, 2025, 1:33 am

Story
Billy is an incredibly loving dog, he cares about his people more than anything and will be a very snuggly and comforting and playful guy. He loves walks and car rides and running around outside, but also is totally happy chilling on the couch and playing with toys indoors. He has a hard time getting to know new people, and will be pretty shy/scared for some time until he trusts you, but once he trusts you, he’s all in on the love. He is very scared of other dogs though, and can get mean around them, i would recommend not being around other dogs unless on a walk on a leash, and even then only briefly. He can get scared of children in the same way, and needs to not be around them in case he lets his fear turn to aggression. We have a one year old who, now that he is mobile, has caught Billy off guard a few times and Billy’s fear in that moment shows us that they unfortunately cannot be together safely.

Story
After nearly eight years together, we are seeking a loving new home for Felix. Felix is a wonderful 8 year old companion who has been with us since he was a 8 months old. He is calm and independent at home, though he is famous for carrying his special ball with him wherever he goes. He is a loyal dog who bonds deeply with his people and is good on a leash, making him the perfect partner for long walks or hikes and keeps close even when off leash. While he is social and enjoys playing with other dogs, he has found it difficult to adjust to the high energy of our one-year-old. Felix is perfectly fine sharing a room with children who understand boundaries, but he likes his personal space and would be happiest in a home with older kids or adults only. We want to ensure he finds a family that can offer him the affection and boundaries he needs to thrive.

Story
Meet Mickey — a 6 year old, 76 lb Pitbull mix with the soul of a gentle old friend and the heart of a loyal shadow. Quick Facts: Name: Mickey Breed: American Pitbull Terrier Mix Age: 6 years old Weight: 76 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes, mainly ignores them Good with Cats: Yes Good with Kids: Not tested but likely fine with older kids Energy Level: Low (couch potato) Fence Required: No About Mickey’s Breed: Our best guess is that Mickey is an American Pitbull Terrier mixed breed. American Pit Bulls are known for their loyal, affectionate, and people oriented nature, often forming deep bonds with their families. They’re intelligent, eager to please, and thrive when they’re included in daily life, whether that’s lounging on the couch or joining in on light adventures. Despite their strong, athletic build, many are gentle companions who love human attention and enjoy being part of a routine. An ideal home for an American Pit Bull is one that offers structure, positive training, and plenty of companionship. They do best with families who appreciate their sensitive, loving personalities and can provide consistent guidance and engagement. With kindness, stability, and a bit of patience, they flourish into incredibly loyal, devoted family members. What to Love about Mickey: Mickey is the definition of laid back: he doesn’t need exercise to be happy, just a soft place to rest and a person to follow. If you sit, he’ll curl up beside you. If you move, he’ll quietly trail behind. His greatest joy is simply being near his human. Mickey came to rescue after spending years outside, and he’s soaking up every bit of comfort and affection he missed! He was initially obsessed with water due to possible past deprivation, but with patient, structured access, he’s doing wonderfully and it’s helped his potty training tremendously. He’s smart, eager to learn, and picking up crate training quickly. He’s fed separately from his foster dog siblings since he prefers to keep his bowl to himself, but he’s never reactive — just politely asks for space. He’s indifferent to other dogs and much prefers the company of people, though he’s perfectly content coexisting. He’s also great with cats and doesn’t mind when his feline foster friend rubs on him! Mickey enjoys a fenced yard to wander in, but he’s also good on leash and would do fine with regular walks instead. He hasn’t met kids yet, but his calm nature suggests he’d likely do well with older, respectful children. Mickey may bark when new visitors arrive, but once he gets a sniff — his version of a handshake — he’s perfectly content! His energy level is low, and he loves lounging in his bed, watching the household go about its day. He doesn’t need an experienced owner, just someone patient, gentle, and ready to give him the love he’s waited so long for. Mickey’s Highlights: 6 year old, 76 lb Pitbull mix with a low energy, laid back personality The ultimate loyal shadow who follows his person everywhere and loves to snuggle Great with cats and calmly coexists with other dogs, though he prefers people Smart and eager to learn; doing well with crate training and potty training Enjoys a fenced yard but also walks nicely on a leash Politely asks for space around his food bowl but is never reactive Barks to greet new visitors, then settles once he gets a sniff Perfect match for a patient, gentle home looking for an easy going companion Mickey is an easygoing, affectionate, loyal companion who wants nothing more than a peaceful home, a soft bed, and a person to adore. He’s ready to spend his golden years being cherished — and he’ll give that love right back! Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on the Best Friend Pet Adoption website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.       FOSTER COMMENTS:  Meet Apricot – The Sweetest Little Shadow You’ll Ever Have! Looking for a loyal sidekick who will keep you smiling and your heart full?  Apricot, a smart, affectionate, and curious 8 month old  pup who’s just waiting for his forever family.  He didn't have the easiest start to life, but he is learning all about people and other dogs and making big strides! Apricot is crate trained, housebroken, and walks nicely on a leash—a total gentleman in the home and out on adventures. He has a moderate energy level: happy to join you for walks and playtime but also excellent at settling down for snuggles and naps. In fact, Apricot is a certified cuddle bug—he loves following his humans around and being part of whatever you’re doing. He enjoys meeting new people, can be a little cautious at first, but once he warms up, his loving and goofy personality shines. Apricot is cautious with new dog friends,  so he’d do best with calm, patient canine companions—or he’d be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. He’s best suited for homes with older kids,  and while he doesn’t need a fenced yard, he’ll thrive with daily walks and quality time with his people. Whether you live in an apartment or a house, work from home or go into the office, Apricot will adjust beautifully. He’s smart, eager to please, and still learning about the world—a wonderful mix of playful curiosity and easy companionship. If you’re looking for a devoted, affectionate pup who will bring warmth and joy to your days, Apricot is ready to be your best friend.  Adopt Apricot—your sweet, snuggly shadow is waiting! To help him become the best dog possible, his adopter will be given additional training sessions with our preferred training facility for 4 months (or 12 sessions) of free 1:1 training.  This is a great benefit for both Apricot and his new home.  Apricot is part of a puppy litter that someone was giving away for free.  Best Friend Pet Adoption admitted them to our rescue to make sure they have proper medical care and find loving homes.   Could one of those homes be with you?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.  Applicants ideally should live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a Best Friend Pet Adoption veterinarian in the Cary area for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.   Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore prefer applicants live within an hours drive of Cary NC. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs. Please consider this sweet girl today! Here is our application:    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Frannie is a sweet and beautiful, Blue Brindle Pittie. She's about 3 years old and weighs around 55lbs. She is gentle natured with lots of personality. She's super cute and will give you a silly, full body "giggle" wag! She loves being with her people and is a wonderful companion. Frannie has done well with her crate training and house breaking. She needs to be crated when left home alone (6-7 hours), and as of now she is crated overnight. She's food & toy motivated, eager to please and is learning basic manners. She is gentle with food and waits patiently for her meals. At times, she still acts like a puppy but also likes to chill on a dog bed and entertain herself with a bone or toy. Frannie overall has great leash manners. She can be an alert barker and would do best in a home not an apartment. Although, she goes potty well on leash, she would really enjoy a fenced yard to get her "zoomies" out. She has a moderate energy level and after playtime with her foster siblings, she enjoys exploring the yard and sunbathing on porch or lounging on couch/bed. She also likes to play fetch and is learning to bring back. Frannie would do best with good natured, neutered male dog that could help guide her when she's unsure. She would do OK as a solo dog also as she loves getting attention from her humans. She would do best with older kids (8+). She's good with "dog savvy" cats, but if kitty is shy and runs, the chase may be fun. Slow and appropriate intros are always recommended with kitties. Frannie had an unstable start to life and has some insecurities, but she will open up quickly with treats and sweet talk. She would succeed greatly with an experienced owner that can continue to build her confidence. Please consider adopting (or fostering) this sweet little lady! Check out Frannie's videos below!
