Story
(DOB 01/02/2024) Dozer, the energetic, playful, and cuddly superstar who’s ready to bring fun and laughter into your home! Dozer is a bundle of joy with a BIG personality. He thrives in an active environment where he can burn off his boundless energy and show off his wrestling skills – this guy’s an MMA champion in the making! He loves to play with his doggy friends at daycare, but he prefers to be the boss, so he’d do best with a submissive dog who doesn’t mind letting him take the lead. Dozer is kid-friendly and thinks everyone he meets wants to be his best friend. The word, stranger, means nothing to him and is a social butterfly disguised as a dog. His tail is almost always wagging and wags even faster when he sees people; he is ready to say, "HI!" and get a quick little rub from anyone! He is ready to go anytime, anywhere, just pack him in the car and let's go! Dozer is doing good mastering the loose leash walking thing so be ready to spend some time with him and some good leash training. Dozer wouldn't mind living in an apartment or condo as long as his family has plenty of time and activities for him. No fence is required but if you have one - great, Dozer will enjoy running and playing with his furry siblings. If you’re looking for a solo companion, Dozer is happy to be your one-and-only, as long as you’re ready to give him the attention and love he craves. He’s also crate-trained, so no worries there. When it’s time to wind down, Dozer is all about cuddles and snuggles with his people. He’s a real sweetheart who loves to shower you with affection after a good play session. If you have an active lifestyle and are ready to keep up with this lovable ball of energy, Dozer will be your loyal sidekick, making every day an adventure. He’s fun, playful, and will definitely keep you on your toes – but don’t worry, he’ll always be there to cuddle after a long day of play! Dozer has the most squishable, kissable little face! And he's happy to get any and all affection you want to share. He also has the silkest soft ears that you will love to just rub! This guy is an awesome catch - so don't wait! As part of Dozer’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Dozer, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2282675##

Story
Meet Cicely! This sweet and affectionate pup is full of love and personality. Despite being visually impaired, she navigates her surroundings with confidence, using her other senses to adapt quickly. She’s even memorized the layout of her foster home and walks well on a leash. Cicely adores people of all ages and thrives on human attention. Whether it’s snuggling on the couch or enjoying a playful moment, she’s always eager to share her love. Because of her blindness, she can be selective with other dogs and requires very slow introductions. She would do best as the only dog in the home or with a patient, well-matched companion. Cicely’s foster family has fallen in love with her, and they know she’ll bring endless joy to the lucky family that welcomes her home. If you're looking for a devoted, loving companion, Cicely might be the perfect match for you! ##1830037##

Story
Meet Sirius, an energetic and playful Boxer puppy who's ready to bring some fun and excitement into your home! Sirius was born with a bilateral cleft lip and cleft palate, but don’t let that fool you—he’s just like any other puppy. His condition is easily managed by ensuring his food is the right size so it doesn’t get stuck in his cleft. With a little extra care, Sirius is ready to take on the world! This rough-and-tumble boy is full of energy and loves to play. He’s looking for a family who can keep up with his playful nature and is committed to puppy training and socialization. As a young pup, Sirius will thrive in a home that will help him learn the ropes and grow into the well-behaved dog he’s meant to be. If you’re ready for a spunky, fun-loving pup who will keep you on your toes and fill your life with joy, Sirius is the perfect companion for you!

Story
I adopted Molly in July of 2023. Not much was known about her history other than she was used purely for breeding and she is 3 1/2-ish. She was kept outside in a very small wire cage, was severely malnourished, and dehydrated. The number of litters she had is unknown. Once rescued, she was spayed but tested positive for heartworms. She has finished her heart work meds and I will be taking her to the vet for a checkup within the next week. When I met Molly I fell in love with her. Despite all the horror I can o it Imagine she has experienced, she is so loving. Being with people makes her smile (so do mashed potatoes…they’re her favorite). She is still skiddish around loud noises or quick movements. She has loved every 2-legged friend she has met so far. And she is ok with my male dog (that’s the only male she has been around so I’m not sure if she is ok with all males). But…she is NOT female dog friendly. I have 4 other female dogs in my home so unfortunately Molly can’t stay. I want to find her a home where she can be the Queen! She deserves nothing less. Please email amanda.zimmer1983@gmail.com with any questions!

Story
Delilah is very much a puppy with a lot of energy! She is still learning manners & can be rough when playing with other dogs. Delilah is crate & potty trained, & can be a bit scared in new situations. Delilah is heartworm positive & not a good fit for young kids or small animals. Although she is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
The ears! The face! We are melting at the sight of this gorgeous, sleek, black young adult pit bull mix who is simply the bees knees of velcro dogs. Cady is a young adult gal who weighs about 45 lbs full grown and full gorgeous! She is everything that is wonderful about this breed from her zero personal space rules (lap dog here!) to her love of children, Cady is the kind of fun play that is all pittie from her hopping, bopping and butt wiggling, she is always as fun as she is snuggly. Cady would love a fun home and promises to bring skills like good potty manners and lots of smooches. She would likely do best with a male doggo companion if there is another dog in the home but would be totally fine, confident gal that she is, being an only dog. Cady is the newest IT girl. Don't miss out on this one. *Weekend Host feedback: "She was quiet most of the weekend, unless alerted. Cady LOVES kids and is very gentle with them, just wanting all of the love. She thinks she is a lap dog and loves to snuggle up with you, so may be best suited for a family with kids 5 and up". * "Cady was a wonderful guest! She did great in her crate - happily and freely laying inside on a soft bed with the door open. She was very patient and gentle while taking treats from my 2 year old daughter. She is fully potty trained and did her business right away outside. A sweet and easygoing companion"!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Angelica loves people and definitely enjoys having a human nearby, even when she is playing by herself outside! She enjoys taking walks. She is very perceptive of her surroundings. She may be hesitant at first, but once she recognizes the path she is on leads back to where she started, she trots all the way home! She will completely stop and sit when she sees other dogs walking past. She will greet new humans nicely, though for men she usually gives a few barks before getting closer to politely meet. She gets along well with the resident dog, though Angelica still has big puppy energy so she is sometimes too energetic for the resident dog. Angelica is very good in the crate, quiet and no messes. She is good about letting you know if she needs to do her business or gets hungry. She sleeps quietly in the crate overnight. Out of the crate she still is quite the puppy, she loves destroying stuffies or gently mouthing your hands and clothes. While she is mostly house trained, she still needs frequent outside breaks to avoid accidents. Her foster family has worked to have her go out immediately after crate time or eating and treat her immediately after she does her pottying- she will run right over and sit at your feet after pottying, waiting for her treat! She loves to do zoomies and pounce on and thrash around her toys, and she loves a kong with peanut butter and treats stuffed in it. She has learned 'sit' and is very treat motivated, so this will come in handy for training and tricks! Angelica is a petite love bug and is waiting for that special person to call her family! *Weekend Host Feedback: "Angelica is truly such a beautiful, sweet, and playful pup who we immediately fell in love with. She was great with our other dog, had such a fun play date with one of my good friends puppy’s who was a similar age to her. She was great on walks and car rides and was such a cuddly friend all weekend! She had no issue adjusting to sleeping at night and has been doing “sit” very well, we have been trying to have her sit before meals and she’s doing great with that so far! Thanks again for sharing her with us for the weekend!!" Vol Dog Walker feedback: "The best word to describe Angelica is fancy. From her gorgeous eye markings to her elegant walk, she is a stunner. Angelica was a strong and steady walker. She dodged the puddles to keep her paws dry. She sat beautifully for treats. Angelica’s calm demeanor made it easy to get in sync".  Recent Weekend Host Feedback: "Angelica was an absolute angel during our doggy sleepover! She didn't take any adjusting and was super comfortable with me right away. We took multiple walks around the lake near my house and she wanted to stop and say hi to every person and dog we walked past! As an 11 month old, Angelica she appreciates frequent potty breaks but she would stand close to the door most of the time when she really had to go. She slept quietly in her crate with no accidents. She definitely had some zoomies in the morning and loved to chew and play tug of war with her toys. Angelica is so cuddly and truly such a sweetheart, any family would be lucky to have her!"

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
He's a hottie...simply put...why else would his name be Smoke?? Talk about a sweet and easy going gentleman...Smoke is the total package. An adult blue pit bull, Smoke likely a member of someone's family and while he has indulged far too much in the noshes of the world, he has the manners of a boy who knows how to act. Smoke weighs 85 lbs now and VERY much needs some regular exercise which he is getting at the farm and a ride on the green bean diet of sorts and before long...he will be a svelte and active young man again. Smoke has been nothing but respectful of other dogs and has been a quiet guy in his crate. This is a perfect snuggly, sweet and people focused pittie who is looking for a soft and cushy place to land to continue on living as a great ambassador for his breed. Smoke spent some time in a foster home recovering from the sniffles. Here’s what they had to say about him: Smoke is the sweetest boy. He was so easy to care for and fit right in with our dogs. He appears to be housebroken and didn’t have any accidents when with us. He went to the door to let us know he wanted to go outside. He will follow you around all day like your shadow and simply loves to be with his people. He slept quietly all night in a dog bed in our bedroom. He walks well on a leash but can’t go too far yet! Any home will be lucky to add this big guy to their family. Weekend Host Feedback: "Smoke is an easy going dog who likes attention and yet will also relax if he’s in your room. He enjoys short walks, good on a leash and does like to meet up with other dogs nearby. If you go on a walk with him bring a lot of water, he’s a thirsty fella. He slept with my dogs, in their area. No problems. We had a great weekend! "
