Story
(DOB 09/20/2019) I am dog friendly, kid friendly, friendly to cats and small animals, too. I really want a fenced in yard to run, play and explore. I can do well as a single dog or with friends. My favorite activities are going out for a jog, lounging on the couch, or in my chair. (My chair can come with me to my new home.) If you are into neat features, I'm known for my beautiful light blue eye and the other one is sparkly brown. It's kind of signature. I am house trained and crate trained, so no worries there! If you are looking for a sweet boy with a great personality, I know you will love me! As part of Basil’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Basil, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##743382##

Story
(DOB 05/30/2024) Skye, the one-eyed wonder with a heart full of love and a personality that shines! One eye, with two times the amount of character and all the charm & love you could ask for. Skye is a sweet & friendly girl who gets along great with other dogs, but she’d also be perfectly happy as your one and only, soaking up all the cuddles and attention.  Skye loves a big fenced in yard, and we think that would be the best option for her unless her fur-ever had plenty of time to get her energy out daily. She'll do zoomies and then run right back to you for more love and attention. If you have play equipment in the yard, Skye isn't scared of it and will go up stairs, slide down the slide with you, so a family with older kids that would love a furry playmate, she could be a good fit. She'll chase after a ball if she is excited, but isn't really interested (at this time) in bringing it back to you, ha ha. She’s a good girl who keeps her crate tidy and is making steady progress with potty training. Skye walks on a leash well enough — she’s still learning, and she can get a little enthusiastic and underfoot, but that just makes her all the more adorable! She’s a quiet, curious girl who loves exploring new things and discovering the world around her. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion; she is a bit of a velcro dog and will follow you with her eye, follow her favorite person around, and follow you with her whole heart!! She definitely has a wonderful character and a whole lot of heart, sol look no further if LOVE is what you are looking for, Skye might just be your perfect match! As part of Skye’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Skye, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2432004##

Story
This pup is eligible for our Test the Couch program — a 7-day trial adoption to see if your home (and your couch) is the perfect fit. Learn more  https://pipsrescue.org/test-the-couch/ Meet Iris, a sweet, snuggly, and old soul who is ready to retire into her dream home. She’s all about the simple pleasures in life like leisurely walks, expert level naps, and maximum coziness. Iris is affectionate, loyal, and deeply devoted to her person. She lives for attention, couch cuddles, and strategically placing herself at your feet while you work so you never forget she’s there. She is an excellent car ride companion and enjoys getting out for adventures, though she can occasionally put a little extra enthusiasm into the leash. At home, she is a professional snoozer and odds are high you will find her exactly where you left her, usually on the couch. When it comes to other dogs, Iris knows what she likes. She requires slow, thoughtful introductions and prefers older, neutral males or being your one and only. Dominant female dogs need not apply. She can coexist with a younger neutral female with management, but in her heart she prefers calm, middle aged or senior companions. Puppies are tolerated in short doses, but she has officially entered her “get off my lawn” era and has no interest in raising the neighborhood hooligans. Because Iris is a bit older and sometimes likes her personal space respected, a home with kids over 10 is recommended. She is sweet and loving, but sore joints and grabby hands are not her idea of a good time. Iris is firmly anti crate and would like that known. She does just fine left out or in a dog safe room. Her biggest temptations include bathroom trash cans, unattended dirty laundry, and food left on low tables. Counters and dining tables are safe. She will not chew toys, Legos, or stuffed animals. Her true hobbies are napping and quietly supervising household activities. She comes with some endearing quirks. A bag of dog food left on the floor is suspicious and will be guarded. Put that same food in a bin and all is right with the world. At night, Iris sometimes hears very important things, possibly a squirrel sneezing or a leaf thinking too loudly, and feels the need to report it. A box fan or white noise machine helps her sleep peacefully. Iris tolerates baths and nail trims like a champ, though she can be a little sensitive about her ears. She is quirky, loving, loyal, and bonds deeply with her people. Iris is looking for a calm, understanding home that appreciates a seasoned dog with opinions, boundaries, and a whole lot of love to give. If you are searching for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to nap near you, supervise your life, and be adored in return, Iris might just be your girl. ##2285665##

Story
Meet Petrie – Your New Best Friend in Puppy Form! Petrie is an adorable, speckled-nosed, mixed-breed puppy, and he’s already stealing hearts everywhere he goes. With his gorgeous, shiny black coat and the sweet white marking on his face, he’s as handsome as they come—but it’s his personality that really seals the deal. This little guy is incredibly affectionate and absolutely loves to cuddle. When he’s not snuggled up for a nap, Petrie is busy being a happy, playful puppy—sleeping hard, playing hard, and soaking up all the love. He does wonderfully with other dogs and would be thrilled to have a canine buddy in his forever home. For such a young pup, Petrie is already doing excellent with potty training, and he’s food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He’s just beginning crate training and is off to a great start. One of his most charming traits? Petrie is a little “talker”—he makes the most adorable sounds that will keep you smiling all day long. Petrie is looking for a family ready to continue his puppy training, give him lots of love, and enjoy all the joy that comes with raising a young pup. In return, he promises endless cuddles, laughs, and unconditional love. If you’re ready for a sweet, snuggly, chatty puppy to grow up by your side, Petrie just might be your perfect match.

Story
Zion is a bouncy and playful pup who loves playing fetch and exploring. He enjoys walks with his human and also thrives when he has room to romp and play in a fenced-in yard. With his ADORABLE underbite and a talent for making the funniest faces, Zion will keep you smiling with his charm. Zion is very affectionate and loves belly rubs, head massages and cuddle sessions. Zion is treat-motivated and has already learned commands like "sit" and "stay." He's even got the hang of bringing his Kong to his designated blanket area for some enrichment. While he does get excited when we (his foster parents) come home, we're working on helping him manage that enthusiasm. When out on walks, he remains calm and non-reactive around cyclists, people, and other dogs.In his dog playgroup at the shelter, Zion started out cautiously, but it wasn't long before he was happily bouncing around with his playmates. He is a sweetheart, especially during one-on-one playtime. Zion is a true gem who thrives as part of a pack and would love a forever home where he can explore, play, and make you laugh every day! Sassaba is a sweet boy who is extremely intelligent and loves to take in everything around him. Amongst any group of people or dogs, you’ll often find him sitting down and watching everyone play before he decides to join in and investigate. He is a gentle boy who loves his ears and head rubbed. Sassaba has almost mastered “sit” and understands that “come on” means it’s time to head outside. He’s still working on perfecting his potty training and is comfortable being crated for 2-3 hour periods during the day and overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. He may bark at the initial sight of other dogs or cats but generally behaves well around them. Extremely food motivated and wonderfully patient, Sassaba waits politely for snacks, leashes, and cues.
