Story
(DOB 11/24/2023) Winston is a happy-go-lucky, fun-loving pup who lives life at full speed and with a huge smile on his face! This active, playful boy is always ready for his next adventure...whatever that may be; a game of fetch with his favorite kid, a splash in the water, or a full-on zoomie session around the yard. If you’re looking for a dog who will keep you laughing and on your toes, Winston is your guy. Winston absolutely thrives on playtime and wants a fur-ever home with another energetic dog to keep him company and help burn off all that playful energy. This smart boy has a silly streak a mile wide; he loves to play “keep away” and will proudly parade his toys around, hoping you’ll join in the chase. He adores kids and does wonderfully with other dogs, happily showing off his goofy, good-natured personality to everyone he meets. (He hasn’t been around cats, so we aren't sure about that, yet.) Winston says YES to all treats. Which makes training a fun and rewarding experience. The good news? Winston already has a great foundation because he’s house trained, crate trained, and walks nicely on a leash. So keep up is daily learning to build a wonderful young, adult dog with amazing manners! Because of his athleticism and enthusiasm, Winston would do best in a home with a fenced (5ft+) yard where he can safely run and play. He can be quite the jumper when he’s feeling determined, so a secure setup and supervision are important to keep him safe and happy. And while Winston is known for his high-energy antics, he does have a softer side too. Every now and then, he’ll slow things down, plop right on top of you, and shower you with kisses and paw taps just to remind you how much he loves you. It’s the perfect balance of spunky and sweet. If you are ready for the very best of both worlds, then this playful, affectionate, and endlessly entertaining companion, Winston is ready to bring the fun and the cuddles right into your home! As part of Winston’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Winston, you can complete an application online for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2695840##

Story
(DOB 03/05/2025) Ricky is a tender-hearted Boxer/Border Collie mix with the softest coat and the most endearing, wrinkly little face that always looks just a bit concerned—don’t worry, it only adds to his charm. Beneath that “worried” expression is an absolute sweetheart who loves deeply and bonds closely with his people. Ricky is a true lover boy. He adores affection and gives it right back, often wrapping you up in his signature doggie hugs once he feels safe and comfortable. It’s his favorite way of saying “you’re my person.” He enjoys gentle, playful games like chase and hide-and-seek, and while he’s curious about toys, he’s still figuring out what they’re all about—which just makes him that much more endearing. This sensitive guy can be a little unsure in new or noisy environments, but he takes great comfort in his people and looks to them for reassurance. With a patient, loving home, his confidence will continue to blossom. He’s very food motivated and eager to please, making him a wonderful candidate for continued positive training. Ricky is dog-friendly and would truly thrive in a home with at least one other friendly, confident dog to help show him the ropes. He’s crate trained and does well with house training when kept on a consistent routine. Because of his gentle, affectionate nature (and those enthusiastic hugs), Ricky would do best in a home with older kids. He’s also hoping for a stay-at-home or work-from-home family who can give him the time, stability, and companionship he craves. If you’re looking for a soft, soulful companion who will love you with his whole heart (and maybe wrap you in a hug or two), Ricky is ready to be your shadow and your snuggle buddy for life. As part of Ricky’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Ricky, you can complete an application online for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2703495##

Story
(DOB 09/01/2025) Meet Rossi, your future cardio partner, cuddle bug, and resident goofball — all rolled into one VERY good boy. This young guy is all puppy: bouncy, wiggly, playful, and endlessly enthusiastic about life. He’s dog-friendly, people-friendly, and basically convinced everyone he meets is his new best friend. He’s looking for an adopter who’s ready to invest some time, patience, and positive training to help him grow into the best version of himself. In return, he promises laughs, loyalty, and nonstop tail wags. With tons of energy, he’d thrive with another high-energy dog buddy and/or an athletic family who enjoys long walks, hikes, runs, or epic games of fetch. Doggy daycare? Yes please — that sounds like his kind of party. If you’re ready for an active sidekick with a heart of gold and springs for legs, this puppy might just be your perfect match. As part of Rossi’s $325 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
(DOB 05/27/2025) Emmy's a playful, sweet soul with the biggest heart and an even bigger zest for life! This adorable pup who'sa the perfect mix of cuddly companion and goofy sidekick may be just what you are looking for. She’s a gentle, submissive girl who truly wants to please, making her a wonderful listener and a quick learner. Whether she’s romping around with her doggie friends, chasing a toy, or hopping into the car for an adventure, Emmy brings joy wherever she goes. Emmy loves being part of the action! She enjoys games of fetch, playing with toys, and especially spending time with other dogs; she would absolutely thrive in a home with a playful canine companion so make sure you have a friend for her. A fenced yard where she can safely zoom, explore, and “goof off” is high on her wish list. After a day of fun, she settles beautifully and is just as happy to curl up and relax with her people. She’s crate trained, potty trained, and walks nicely on a leash; she’s already got a great foundation! Like many young pups, Emmy is still learning about the world around her. Because she didn’t have the easiest start in life, she can be a little unsure when meeting new people, especially men. She may use her voice when she feels nervous, but the great news is she’s already making wonderful progress and responds very well to gentle guidance and redirection. With a patient, understanding family who will continue to build her confidence, Emmy is blossoming more every day. Her ideal home will be one that can offer consistency, love, and a steady routine—having someone home most of the time will help her continue to thrive. She currently lives with cats and does well, though she may occasionally try to initiate a playful chase, so dog-savvy cats would be the best match. Emmy is truly a special girl who just needs a little time and encouragement to shine her brightest. In return, she’ll give you endless love, loyalty, and lots of happy, playful moments. If you’re looking for a sweet, fun-loving pup to grow with your family, Emmy might just be your perfect match! As part of Emmy’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
(DOB 09/20/2019) I am dog friendly, kid friendly, friendly to cats and small animals, too. I really want a fenced in yard to run, play and explore. I can do well as a single dog or with friends. My favorite activities are going out for a jog, lounging on the couch, or in my chair. (My chair can come with me to my new home.) If you are into neat features, I'm known for my beautiful light blue eye and the other one is sparkly brown. It's kind of signature. I am house trained and crate trained, so no worries there! If you are looking for a sweet boy with a great personality, I know you will love me! As part of Basil’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Basil, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##743382##

Story
This pup is eligible for our Test the Couch program — a 7-day trial adoption to see if your home (and your couch) is the perfect fit. Learn more  https://pipsrescue.org/test-the-couch/ Meet Iris, a sweet, snuggly, and old soul who is ready to retire into her dream home. She’s all about the simple pleasures in life like leisurely walks, expert level naps, and maximum coziness. Iris is affectionate, loyal, and deeply devoted to her person. She lives for attention, couch cuddles, and strategically placing herself at your feet while you work so you never forget she’s there. She is an excellent car ride companion and enjoys getting out for adventures, though she can occasionally put a little extra enthusiasm into the leash. At home, she is a professional snoozer and odds are high you will find her exactly where you left her, usually on the couch. When it comes to other dogs, Iris knows what she likes. She requires slow, thoughtful introductions and prefers older, neutral males or being your one and only. Dominant female dogs need not apply. She can coexist with a younger neutral female with management, but in her heart she prefers calm, middle aged or senior companions. Puppies are tolerated in short doses, but she has officially entered her “get off my lawn” era and has no interest in raising the neighborhood hooligans. Because Iris is a bit older and sometimes likes her personal space respected, a home with kids over 10 is recommended. She is sweet and loving, but sore joints and grabby hands are not her idea of a good time. Iris is firmly anti crate and would like that known. She does just fine left out or in a dog safe room. Her biggest temptations include bathroom trash cans, unattended dirty laundry, and food left on low tables. Counters and dining tables are safe. She will not chew toys, Legos, or stuffed animals. Her true hobbies are napping and quietly supervising household activities. She comes with some endearing quirks. A bag of dog food left on the floor is suspicious and will be guarded. Put that same food in a bin and all is right with the world. At night, Iris sometimes hears very important things, possibly a squirrel sneezing or a leaf thinking too loudly, and feels the need to report it. A box fan or white noise machine helps her sleep peacefully. Iris tolerates baths and nail trims like a champ, though she can be a little sensitive about her ears. She is quirky, loving, loyal, and bonds deeply with her people. Iris is looking for a calm, understanding home that appreciates a seasoned dog with opinions, boundaries, and a whole lot of love to give. If you are searching for a devoted companion who wants nothing more than to nap near you, supervise your life, and be adored in return, Iris might just be your girl. ##2285665##

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Billie is absolutely Lovely in the home. She sleeps quietly through the night in her crate and has had zero potty accidents on her current schedule. She only leaves her Party Favor in the yard. She enjoys the company of her foster dog siblings and is always ready to Come Out and Play. She's confident enough to gently remind everyone of the house rules—even though it's Not My Responsibility. When The Party's Over, though, she's perfectly content to curl up in her bed or snooze at your feet. Billie walks nicely around the neighborhood with her pack and is friendly with both people and other dogs. She has a sweet, gentle nature, but she'll let you know if a Bad Guy is nearby. She already knows she's Everything I Wanted, and if you think the two of you might be Birds of a Feather, come say I Love You with an adoption application. With Billie by your side, you'll be Happier Than Ever. *Sleepover feedback: " She did amazing in the car on the way home Friday, and just as great on the way to drop her off tonight. She laid in the back and didn’t make a peep. She and our dog played very well together all weekend. We were surprised by how much energy she had! She was also perfectly content to hang out with us on the couch in the evenings. Not much of a snuggler, but i’m sure she could have gotten there with more time. She was very affectionate but would lay on the end of the couch. Billie had no accidents in the house all weekend which was an added bonus. We gave Billie the option to sleep in bed with us on night 1, but she opted for a dog bed on the floor where she stayed all night. Night 2 we had her in a large crate in our room, and she did great in there too.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
A sweet and soulful pup, Gelato is the only sweetness you’ll need in your life. Gelato is likely a pit bull mix who weighs about 37 lbs full grown and maybe a few lbs shy of where he should be. A young adult, Gelato has his moments of being shy and unsure in this new setting but is settling in just fine! And he plays well with other dogs (not super rough) and loves people. A furry friend at home could help this boy find his confidence. But he would be more than happy to share your couch for some snuggles. Stop by and get your sweet fix with this boy. *Sleepover notes: " he loves a nap and cuddle. Great sleeper and eater Seems House-Trained - with zero accidents all weekend. Loves car rides and exploring. Great Listener- Super attentive and eager to please. Overall: Gelato deserves an amazing home. He is a happy, friendly boy to everyone he meets—whether it’s a planned introduction or an accidental hello on a walk! He just wants positive vibes and smile.

Good with kids, Good with dogs, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Big Ben is a 3 year old ~75 pound mix, suspected Malinois, Great Dane, Lab and Pit mix (DNA test pending!). He is the coolest color with a dark ridge down his back, and is extremely soft. He is easy to train, very obedient, and extremely fun! Couch potatoes need not apply, as Ben wants to do things (with or without you) but preferably with you (though cuddling on the couch is awesome after doing other stuff together). Ben has started scent work training, has professional obedience training, and will excel at any job he is given the chance to try! He is good with other dogs when managed by an educated owner, but has had dog aggression issues in the past. He currently lives easily with 5+ other dogs and is very gentle when playing with his friends, but sometimes is unsure how to handle new friends and takes guidance well. He is still being introduced to cats, but can likely coexist with them just fine as his prey drive is medium - low. He desperately wants to be a good boy, he just often needs reminded what a good boy needs to be doing (or not doing)
