Story
(DOB 01/02/2024) Dozer tested heartworm positive but don’t let it keep you from adopting him. Our rescue has treated him and we are waiting for the 8-month blood test (March 2026) to make sure he is negative. If not, our rescue will retreat. For this reason, he is available for adoption within a 1-hour radius of Wake Forest, NC at this time. Dozer, the energetic, playful, and cuddly superstar who’s ready to bring fun and laughter into your home! Dozer is a bundle of joy with a BIG personality. He thrives in an active environment where he can burn off his boundless energy. He loves to play with his doggy friends but due to his size he does better with dogs his size and energy level. Dozer is kid-friendly and thinks everyone he meets wants to be his best friend but would do better with older kids due to his size and energy level. The word, stranger, means nothing to him and is a social butterfly disguised as a dog. His tail is almost always wagging and wags even faster when he sees people; he is ready to say, "HI!" and get a quick little rub from anyone! He is ready to go anytime, anywhere, just pack him in the car and let's go! Dozer is working on mastering the loose leash walking thing so be ready to spend some time with him and some good leash training. Dozer wouldn't mind living in an apartment or condo as long as his family has plenty of time and activities for him. No fence is required but if you have one - great, Dozer will enjoy running and playing by himself or with his furry siblings. If you’re looking for a solo companion, Dozer is happy to be your one-and-only, as long as you’re ready to give him the attention and love he craves. He’s also house and crate-trained, so no worries there. When it’s time to wind down, Dozer is all about cuddles and snuggles with his people. He’s a real sweetheart who loves to shower you with affection after a good play session. If you have an activelifestyle and are ready to keep up with this lovable ball of energy, Dozer will be your loyal sidekick, making every day an adventure. He’s fun, playful, and will definitely keep you on your toes – but don’t worry, he’ll always be there to cuddle after a long day of play! Dozer is convinced he is a lap dog who loves to give plenty of kisses. Dozer has the most squishable, kissable little face! And he's happy to get any and all affection you want to share. He also has the silkiest soft ears that you will love to just rub! This guy is an awesome catch - so don't wait! As part of Dozer’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Dozer, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2282675##

Story
(DOB 11/07/2024) Breaking news: A new goofy brindle bombshell has officially entered the villa!! "Hi, I’m Aria, and I’m the walking ray of sunshine your life has been missing!  I’m under a year old, under 40 pounds, and overflowing with personality. Basically, I’m a snuggle potato disguised as a dog — pick me up, swaddle me like a baby, hold me upside down or right side up…none of that matters to me. I’ll just melt into your arms. Becoming a puppy puddle is my superpower. But don’t let the cuddles fool you — I’m also a parkour (the activity or sport of moving rapidly through an area, negotiating obstacles by running, jumping, and climbing prodigy. I can launch myself off big dogs like I’m auditioning for an action movie. When I’m not practicing my stunts, I’m zooming up and down stairs or racing circles in the yard to show off my lightning speed. I love other dogs (the more the merrier), kids (can’t decide who loves who more), and long walks with the pack. That said, I’m confident enough to be the star of a one-dog show too. Either way, I’ll keep myself entertained with toys — squeaky, rope, ball… you name it, I love it. I already know “sit,” nailed “shake” in under ten minutes, and I’m working hard on potty training & crate training (progress report: improving daily). Oh, and fair warning — I snore. Sometimes I even fart in my sleep. Don’t worry, it’s just my way of surrounding you with love. So, if you’re looking for your soul dog — cuddly, hilarious, smart, and just a little bit ridiculous — look no further. I’m ready to pack up my toys, move into your heart, and never leave. If you want to see me in action catch me on TikTok @Adopt.Aria!" As part of Aria’s $300 adoption fee, she will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet pup, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Aria, you can complete an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website: www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2516317##

Story
(DOB 09/20/2019) I am dog friendly, kid friendly, friendly to cats and small animals, too. I really want a fenced in yard to run, play and explore. I can do well as a single dog, or with friends. My favorite activities are going out for a jog, lounging on the couch, or in my chair. (My chair can come with me to my new home.) If you are into neat features, known for my beautiful light blue eye and the other one is sparkly brown. It's kind of signature. I am house trained and crate trained, so no worries there! If you are looking for a sweet boy with a great personality, I know you will love me! As part of Basil’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. Story
(DOB 9/4/2022) He’s the perfect combination of playful and chill. After a good walk or a day out and about, he’s ready to be with his people. He loves just to be near those he loves, leaning into your legs when sitting on the floor. Patch will return your affection many-fold with lots of kisses and love. We might consider Patch "a ladies man" as he does have an affinity and spontaneous attraction to the woman he meets. Plus, with his beautiful brindle coat that just gleams in the sun that goes so well with his big brown eyes and happy face the ladies all fall in love with him as well! If going for a peaceful walk and then relaxing at home is your idea of a great way to spend your day, Patch is your pup. Patch walks well on a leash and is learning to heel. Want to go to a park or anywhere for that matter...Patch will happily hop in the car, always ready to go with his people. Well, whatever your lifestyle is, Patch is likely to adapt quickly. If you have a certian schedule and routine, that is cool with Patch, this easy-going, happy boy will gel easily roll with it. Another BONUS about Patch; he is great with people and always happy to meet someone new. He is quiet and stays calm even when dogs around him get excited. He well behaved with other dogs and children but likely needs dogs and kids more his own size just so he doesn't knock them down in the excitement of playing. That said, Patch adores younger children and will cover them in kisses. He is also very gentle when taking treats from the little ones. Please no kitties, just not his thing! Patch has been thru a basic obedience course and is great at learning new commands. You want to know how smart Patch is? Do you have kid toys as well as dog toys? Put Patch's in a different basket and show him which are his and he will amaze you by playing with only his toys. Some toys are only for outside? He will pick one up on the way out the door. He is very food driven and responds well to positive reward training. Tasty treats are a great motivator for Patch. Want to keep building his "vocabulary"; he'd be happy to be your student! He is always happy to get praise and and love pats for doing a job well done! Like a diamond he is sparkles in the sun, he is eager to please and learn what you want him to do. Give him love (and treats!) and you will be greatly rewarded. As part of Patch’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Patch, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2364966##

Story
(DOB 05/30/2024) Skye, the one-eyed wonder with a heart full of love and a personality that shines! One eye, with two times the amount of character and all the charm & love you could ask for. Skye is a sweet & friendly girl who gets along great with other dogs, but she’d also be perfectly happy as your one and only, soaking up all the cuddles and attention.  Skye loves a big fenced in yard, and we think that would be the best option for her unless her fur-ever had plenty of time to get her energy out daily. She'll do zoomies and then run right back to you for more love and attention. If you have play equipment in the yard, Skye isn't scared of it and will go up stairs, slide down the slide with you, so a family with older kids that would love a furry playmate, she could be a good fit. She'll chase after a ball if she is excited, but isn't really interested (at this time) in bringing it back to you, ha ha. She’s a good girl who keeps her crate tidy and is making steady progress with potty training. Skye walks on a leash well enough — she’s still learning, and she can get a little enthusiastic and underfoot, but that just makes her all the more adorable! She’s a quiet, curious girl who loves exploring new things and discovering the world around her. If you’re looking for a loyal, loving companion; she is a bit of a velcro dog and will follow you with her eye, follow her favorite person around, and follow you with her whole heart!! She definitely has a wonderful character and a whole lot of heart, sol look no further if LOVE is what you are looking for, Skye might just be your perfect match! As part of Skye’s $300 adoption fee, she is spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet girl, you can email: Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org. If you wish to adopt Skye, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2432004##

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Brindle in a bodacious package with a special little bit of everything is the recipe for what makes Lionel so special. Lionel is a pit bull mix adult dude who weighs about 60 lbs now and has a gorgeous brindle coat. It's quite likely nothing about Lionel's life has been easy so far and some prior trauma of some sort has left him with a bit of a head tilt that we wish he didn't have to endure, but by golly makes it seem like he is forever interested in what you are saying as he looks at you lovingly. Lionel is a precious soul who has just the right amount of energy but also can settle down and enjoy the slower things in life as well. He does well with lots of his doggo friends and has a nice medium energy level that isn't over the top at all. Pampering, believes Lionel, should be in his future and he could settle easily into many homes and certainly including the ones who love a pit bull love of snuggles and disregard for their size versus the size of your lap. Lionel is ready to roar on into your heart.... *Sleepover feedback: "We had a wonderful time with Lionel. He is a very sweet and loving boy. He seemed very comfortable with us. I hope he had a good experience like we did with him. Thank you for allowing us to host him. It’s a terrific program". *Additional feedback: "Lionel is the best boy. He is very sweet and snuggly. He did well on the leash and during the car ride. He seems to be potty trained. He did not love the crate, but really enjoyed sleeping on the couch / bed. He slept in late and did not wake us up to go outside too early. He is very quiet and loves meeting new people".

Story
Sweet Tart is blossoming in her new world and absolutely soaking up all the love and attention! This pint-sized pittie is small in stature but huge in heart. Tart's deepest desire is to be with her people—she will happily follow you and cuddle up wherever you go, ensuring you always have a soft, warm companion. She is smart and very food-motivated, which makes training a breeze! She's now learning that she can play, be happy, and most importantly, be safe and cared for. Leash Skills Leash Manners: Walks like a dream on a leash! House Training: Mostly housebroken and continuing to improve. Car Rides: A fantastic traveler who rides really well in the car. Chews: Loves to relax and chew on a tasty bone. Compatibility Kids: Does wonderfully with children. Cats: Gets along great with cats. Other Dogs: Good with other dogs as long as they respect her space and don't try to engage her in play. Tart prefers calm company over rough-housing. Special Requirement Because of her size, Tart gets chilly easily! If the temperature dips below 60 degrees, she needs a cozy sweater to stay warm and happy. If you're looking for a warm, devoted, easy-going companion who will stick by your side and fill your lap with love, Tart is the perfect girl for you!

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Name says it all....and that face! Holey moley come and save us from tripping over ourselves to love on this most perfect round, stocky and short legged spark plug of love! Wigglebutt is a stout and young pocket pittie (and we sure do resist sticking her in our pocket and taking her home daily) who weighs about 22 lbs now with more room to grow. This young lady is super fun and adorable doesn't even cover it. Her coat might not be spectacular yet, due to lack of a home and good care but that's all turning around now. Wigglebutt does great with other dogs, has been a great addition to the hiking team, and is quiet in her crate and keeps it clean. This little chunk is a gift you will not be able to imagine living without once you meet her. Weekend Host Feedback: "Great with other people. Very trusting, friendly, will go right up to them to accept pats/attention. Great with leash walking. Hesitant at first but once she knows the route/routine, she's great. Very well potty-trained. A few accidents that were most likely due to the new environment/not being on a schedule yet. Sleeps fine in crate, will sometimes whine when left alone but stops after a few minutes. LOVES CUDDLING AND PHYSICAL CONTACT - she was on our laps cuddling whenever she could be. Absolute sweetheart. Very obedient. Learned within 48 hours which toys were "hers" and which were just stuffed animals we had that weren't for dogs. Seems to be teething and enjoys hard chew toys. LOVES ICE CUBES - will take an ice cube with her back to her bed and gnaw on it." Recent Weekend Host Feedback: "Wigglebut is good with kids and is great in the car! She appears to be potty trained, great with leash walking. She was shy and hesitant at first but quickly adjusted to a new environment. She really loves to play with toys and seems to be teething because loves to chew hard toys. She is amazing in a crate and slept quietly throughout the night, seems to be crate trained."
