Story
Meet Casa Casa came to us under heartbreaking circumstances with his two housemates, who have since found their forever homes. When their owner was evicted, Casa and his furry friends were left behind with no one to care for them.At one point, all of them were well-loved, and we could see it in their gentle spirits and healthy appearances. Thankfully, they hadn’t been alone for long before they were rescued, and they’ve been showing us nothing but love ever since. Our staff and volunteers have spent time getting to know this sweet boy, and here’s what we’ve discovered:* Gentle and sweet-natured – One volunteer even called him the “perfect dog.”* Housebroken – Casa keeps a tidy kennel and prefers to potty outside.* Knows basic commands – He already knows how to sit and is treat-motivated* Gets along with other dogs – Though he prefers more independent play* A bit of a toy hoarder – He likes to steal all the toys away from his furry friends. * May prefer a female-led household – During a recent meet-and-greet with a couple, Casa showed a preference for the wife and was not a fan of the husband, so he might be a ladies’ man at heart.Casa would thrive in a loving home where he can be the center of attention. He’d do well with another dog who doesn’t mind his toy-stealing antics, or as an only dog where he can have all the toys to himself! A household with women or a female primary caregiver may be the best fit for this handsome boy.If you’re looking for a loyal companion with a gentle spirit and a heart full of love to give, Casa might be your perfect match. Come meet him at the shelter (??430 Bristol Dr., Statesville, NC).

Story
Our beautiful Gracie Ann... what can we tell you about her in this short bio? She was found some months back, dumped in a grocery store parking lot. Alone and scared. No idea why she was dumped, no idea what she had done wrong to be deserted. One of our rescue partners called us and we jumped into action! While, we normally cannot take dogs larger than 35#, we couldn't say "no". She needed us! Gracie joined the pack of one of our fabulous fosters and fell into the role of loving life, indoors and warm! When Gracie came to us, we thought she was pregnant. Her stomach was full like she was ready to give birth. We waited. No puppies. She ate a lot.... still no puppies. We took her to the vet and confirmed, not pregnant but was in heat. Her foster mom would be out of town for a few weeks, and we would have her spayed when she returned. Gracie started losing weight rapidly. We rushed her to the vet and found out that she had pyometra. This is life or death! One vet wanted to put her to sleep because the procedure is so costly! For a rescue, $5k is a lot to absorb! We got a second opinion and are so glad that we did! Our vet gave us hope! Gracie had the surgery that afternoon and it was touch and go for a while. She stayed in the hospital for days. Today, she is fully healthy! Her bloodwork is perfect! Gracie is 2 years old.. She is up to date on vaccines, heartworm negative and on prevention. She is spayed and chipped. Gracie is housetrained and can be trusted outside of a crate. She is such a great dog! She will do best in a home with another dog as she LOVES to play, and we do not feel that placing her without a companion is in her best interest. If you have room in your home and your heart for this sweetheart of a girl, please complete the adoption application, below: https://acfrescue.weebly.com/adoption-foster-and-volunteer-applications.html Adoption fee: $100

Story
We’ve had her for a few years now and every year it becomes more evident that she would thrive elsewhere. She needs a house with a routine that she fits in better and that’s not something we can provide for her. She’s very sweet, patient, and loving. She has the boxer wiggle butt and likes to speak but rarely barks. She is not fully house trained. We have tried but it comes down to we can’t give her consistency. She knows how to go outside but does not signal that she needs to go. I think she needs more routine for this. She has had one incident of dog reactivity so I believe she’d be best in a single dog household. She could be socialized if someone’s willing to. She has a bit of separation & storm anxiety and has medicine to help. She can escape a fence but is leash trained. She won’t pull on a leash at all. She’s very smart and can learn commands when she’s taught. She just needs more than our family can give for her at this point
