Name: Ladybug Breed: Boxer/Hound Mix Sex: Spayed Female Age/Weight: 1 year old, 50lbs Personality Ladybug got her name because 1) she is a love bug, 2) she is an absolute lady, and 3) she has some big ol' bug eyes! First and foremost though, she is a lovebug. She loves affection and wants nothing more than to be close to her favorite humans. Get down on her level, and she'll try her very best to crawl right into your lap. She wants to be on you, soaking up every pet, cuddle, and butt rub you’re willing to give. She's an enthusiastic, happy girl who sometimes greets you with little bursts of zoomies because she's just so excited to see you! Ladybug enjoys playtime, but if she has to choose between a toy and attention from her people, we suspect she'll pick her people every time. She's goofy, affectionate, and full of personality. When she's excited, she even tap dances! And those big eyes? They're only part of her charm. Sometimes her lips get caught on her teeth, leaving her with the funniest expressions you've ever seen. She's guaranteed to make you laugh. Ladybug would make a wonderful family companion, but honestly, we could see her fitting into a variety of homes. She's an easygoing girl who doesn't seem to ask for much beyond having someone to love. Give her a person to call her own, and she's a happy girl. Behavior Ladybug is house-trained and one of the cleanest dogs at the shelter. She keeps her kennel spotless, doesn't destroy her belongings, and doesn't make a mess. She truly lives up to the lady part of her name! She already knows sit and is eager to interact with people. Because she's cooped up in a kennel for much of the day, she can come across as more energetic than she may be in a home environment. When she's excited, she may jump up to greet you, but she tries to be gentle about it. With a little consistency and guidance, she'll have the opportunity to learn more polite ways to express all that excitement. Ladybug has shown interest in other dogs. She has had one meet and greet with a similar sized male dog and did wonderfully. If you have another dog at home, a meet-and-greet is recommended to see whether they'd be a good match. History & Health Ladybug came to the shelter as a stray, but we suspect she had a home at some point. With her house training, tidy habits, and affectionate nature, she seems familiar with the comforts of life alongside people. However, no one ever came to claim her. Now, she's ready to find a loving home where she can trade kennel life for a cozy couch, the company of her favorite humans, and all the affection her heart desires. Ladybug is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her vaccinations. Ladybug deserves a home where she'll be cherished as the sweet, silly, affectionate companion she is. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. Personality Meet Muffin, a sweet girl whose story is a beautiful reminder of what a little patience, kindness, and love can do. When Muffin first arrived at the shelter after being found wandering around a Circle K, she was absolutely terrified. She would tremble when someone entered the room and scream in fear at even the gentlest touch. We don't know what her life looked like before she came to us, but we do know that she was scared, and she needed time to learn that she was safe. And then, slowly, something wonderful happened. Muffin began to realize that the people around her weren't going to hurt her. Now she gets excited when she sees us coming! Her tail is almost always wagging, she seeks out affection (especially head scratches!), and she'll even play bow to invite us to play. Watching her come out of her shell has been such a joy. Muffin is incredibly sweet and affectionate. She loves giving kisses, especially right on your nose, and she'll happily curl up in your lap with one of her beloved stuffies. She's playful without being overly rambunctious and enjoys being close to her people without needing constant attention. She's a gentle girl with a big heart, and every day, we're getting to see more of her personality shine through. Behavior Muffin is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. She's still building confidence, and she can get jumpy or startled at times, particularly when someone approaches her from behind. She'll benefit from a home where her boundaries are respected, introductions are gentle, and she can continue building trust at her own pace. Her progress so far has been remarkable, and we're excited to see how much more she'll blossom with a family of her own. She's a gentle girl who already knows sit and is making progress with house training. She enjoys playing with her people, carrying around her stuffies, and curling up for some affection. Her playful bows and wagging tail are becoming more common as her confidence grows. Muffin has shown interest in other dogs. She has had one meet and greet with a similar sized male dog and did wonderfully. If you have another dog at home, a meet-and-greet is recommended to see whether they'd be a good match. Home & Health Muffin is still a work in progress, but she's showing us every day that she's capable of so much love and happiness. She'll need a family willing to give her patience, reassurance, and time to adjust to a new environment. A calm, understanding home where she can build confidence at her own pace would be ideal. She is young and healthy. She is already spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. *We are unable to view pet Finder inquiries at this time.
