Story
Hi, it's me Beans. I wanted to tell you about me thru the eyes of my foster mom. Beans is a great, super sweet, well behaved dog. He is housetrained, crate trained ( sleeps well in crate at night). He knows sit, is very treat motivated (but watch those fingers he really likes food). He likes to cuddle and be with his people. He also walks well on leash. He gets along with my older female dog ( but very slow introductions with any dogs is a must to have him adjust well, him or any new dog). We do not know how he is with cats or children at this time. He is an inside dog and should not be crated all day. He is a youngster and needs lots of exercise. An ideal home would be with a stay at home person. Rides very nicely in the car. He has been neutered, up to dates on all vaccines and microchipped. He is heartworm positive but please don't let heartworms deter you from taking him home, they are completely treatable and non contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center is generously providing a $400 sponsorship toward treatment. If you have any more questions about me you can email my foster mom at dogfosterkim@gmail.com Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 61.5 Age: 2yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Halle has blossomed since being in foster for a couple of months. She had the unfortunate luck of being stuck in the shelter during the URI shutdown WCAC had late last year and had become quite anxious. In foster, she has had a chance to decompress and show her sweet, fun loving personality. She is a beautiful, curious, mischievous, happy young lady who loves playing and snuggling with her people. She adores my 18 year old son, and seems to especially like young men, but is more wary of older adult males. She warms up to them; it just takes a little longer. She has a strong prey drive, chasing all the small critters she sees in the yard. She was tested and labeled "No dogs" at the shelter. She'd do best as an only pet. Halle is house and crate trained. She is very enthusiastic about food and is still learning proper manners around people who have food. She has shown no signs of food aggression with me. I can take her food bowl away while she is eating with no issue. Halle is getting over her skepticism of new people, but is still quite cautious and can be a little grumbly at first, so introductions should be at her pace. She has proven to be too difficult for me to walk on a leash. She is quite strong and pulls more than I (5' 6" middle aged woman) can handle, especially if she spots another dog. So she hangs out supervised in my fenced backyard, securing the perimeter against squirrels, sniffing, chewing a nylabone, having zoomies and playing tug with a rope toy. She has an impressive vertical jump and climbing skills, and she cleared my 4.5' gate with no problem. Therefore, a 6' fenced yard is a must. Story
Reeve is a sweet, older gal who is working on getting her outside to be as beautiful as the inside!! She may look grumpy, however, Reeve is incredibly sweet!! Her little nubby tail is constantly wagging. Reeve is calm, well-mannered, and goes with the flow. She sleeps all night in her crate and has had no accidents in the house. She enjoys short walks around the neighborhood and never pulls on her leash. She hadn't met a meal she didn't like yet! She sits patiently for treats and shows no food aggression. Reeve enjoys snuggling on the couch and is fairly low energy. She currently shares the household with two dogs and two cats. No aggression with any! Reeve doesn't really seem to show any interest in other animals so she would do fine as an only dog. Reeve has been so sweet with everyone she has met, but a home with older children would be best, due to her age and energy level.

Story
Meet Briggs. This 70-pound hunk of love is estimated at a little over a year old. Our best guess for his breed is Plott Hound/Boxer mix and he definitely has mastered the boxer "puppy-dog-eyes. Briggs adores other dogs and enjoys kids, but has not been around small versions of either so may not know his own size. He has no known history with cats. While he doesn't seem to know specific commands yet, he is responsive to instruction and has very good manners. We feel that he will catch on well to the routines and expectations in his forever home. This big boy has a lot of love to give and is very much looking forward to finding his forever family.

Story
Hardy is a lover of his person. He was pulled from a kill shelter in North Carolina and by the third day he had already formed an attachment to "mom". He was underweight when pulled from the shelter so we are working to help him gain wait. He has started learning sit and down and has almost mastered these commands. He is dog selective and walks very well on a leash. Please email nchappytailssanctuary@gmail.com for more information. We do require an adoption application, however we are a non judgmental rescue.
