Story
Meet Sunkist: A Sunshine-Filled Sweetheart with Clear BoundariesSunkist is a one-year-old bulldog/boxer mix who loves snuggling close and savoring life's little moments-like stopping to smell the roses on a peaceful walk. She's the perfect blend of playful curiosity and calm affection, ready to share both adventures and cuddles with her forever family.Sunkist knows exactly what she likes and isn't shy about setting boundaries when playing with other male dogs. She's clear that she's not interested in any humpy or overly forward male dogs, so her best match would be a low-key, respectful boy who's happy to be just friends. This lovely lady went on an outing with a volunteer. She did great in the car even though she needed a boost to get in. She likes to keep her adventures short and sweet in hot weather. And she loves a good spa day to keep up her good looks! If you're looking for a loving, soulful companion who'll join you for thoughtful strolls and plenty of cozy moments, Sunkist might just be the perfect fit.If you're looking for a loyal companion who brings warmth and joy to every moment, Sunkist is your girl. Come meet her and fall in love!If you're interested in learning more about Sunkist, please reach out to our Volunteer Matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Sunkist 259854." Sunkist is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times. Story
If any dog knows how to pack a punch with his energy and personality, it's this two-year-old boxer! Stirr has a lot of feelings to let out while he's in his kennel, and that manifests in some wiggling, jumping, and barking. But, once he's outside, Stirr does great on leash and is a fun-loving guy. He also recently had a blast zooming around in the play yard at top speed with a mixed group of six other dogs! This young buck would likely thrive in a patient, active home where he can receive training and go on plenty of exciting adventures.Although Stirr is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a 600$ sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about Stirr, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Stirr 261597".Stirr is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. Story
Meet Slinky Malinky - 9 Years Old, Quiet Soul, Future CuddlebugSlinky Malinky may have a silly name, but his journey is a tender one. At 9 years old, he's still figuring out how to be a dog. Likely missing out on love and care in his past, he's skinny, cautious, and incredibly curious-sniffing his way through new spaces as he learns to feel safe. He'll need a patient home with plenty of room to adjust at his own pace. But beneath the hesitation is a gentle heart waiting to trust. With time (and treats-his absolute favorite), Slinky Malinky is sure to blossom. He may not know it yet, but cuddles are definitely in his future. Are you the one to show him what love feels like?Since he came in as a stray, we don't know much about his past, but we're getting to know just how wonderful he is. He already knows "sit," takes treats gently, and can even catch them in the air! He's easy to collar and walks past other dogs calmly, though he may pull a little at first-he's eager to get outside and do his business. While not officially on the potty-trained list, he shows good habits.Don't let his age fool you-Slinky Malinky is youthful at heart and loves to sniff and explore the world around him. At 58 lbs, he's a great size for walks and outdoor adventures, and he'd make an excellent walking buddy for someone looking for a loyal companion.Although he is heartworm positive, it is treatable and not contagious. Friends of Wake County Animal Center has provided a $600 sponsorship to help cover the cost of treatment. If you're interested in learning more about him, please reach out to our volunteer matchmakers at wcac.matchmaker@gmail.com with the subject line "Slinky Malinky 261102".He is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be neutered prior to going home. Story
Shallow (aka Shiloh) is the sweetest meatball with an underbite you'll ever meet. Shiloh loves to lounge outside and enjoy nature, tackle her big dino plushy, and go on leisurely walks (if it's not too hot). She still has some young pup energy, so she might be a bit much for small children when she gets the zoomies. When she's excited, she likes to nibble gently on your hands and clothing, but is easily redirected with a toy if that's not something you enjoy. Shiloh loves her people and is thrilled when they come home (just wait until you hear her happy grumbles). With enough exercise and engagement, Shiloh happily snoozes in her bed when it's time to relax. When she needs to get cleaned up, she walks right into the shower without a fuss. She sleeps quietly in her crate at night and when her humans go out. She is doing great with house training and had only a couple of accidents during the transition period into her foster home. Shiloh did well interacting with other dogs at the shelter. She was tolerant of a poorly mannered male Doberman and looked to humans for help. On walks, she is interested in other dogs, but not reactive. She has not yet met a cat. If you're interested in meeting Shiloh, please email sunnyspotfostering@gmail.com Primary Color: Brindle- Black Weight: 52 Age: 1yrs 0mths 2wks
