Hi there! My name is Stitch, and if you`re looking for a best friend who can keep you laughing, keep you company, and occasionally convince you that belly rubs should be a full-time activity, then I think we should meet.I`m what the humans here call `the total package.` I love toys, fetch, tug-of-war, zooming around the yard, and pretty much any game that involves having fun. If there`s a squeaky toy nearby, there`s a very good chance I`ll be investigating it. I also enjoy chewing on Kongs and bones, chasing and pouncing on toys, and showing off my impressive ability to entertain myself when needed. After all that excitement, though, I`m more than happy to transform into a cuddle expert. I love being close to my people, whether that`s curling up beside you on the couch, leaning against your leg, or volunteering for belly rub duty. My previous family described me as affectionate, friendly, playful, and even a bit of a lap dog. Personally, I think `professional snuggler` sounds more impressive.Like most young dogs, I still have plenty of enthusiasm for life. Sometimes I get so excited to meet new people that I forget my manners and jump up to say hello. I`ve lived with children between the ages of 6 and 10 and did well with them, although my excitement can occasionally get the better of me. I didn`t get much obedience training in my previous home, so I`m looking for a family who can help me learn the finer points of being a gentleman. The good news is that I`m smart, eager, and very motivated by attention. You may notice that I walk a little differently than some other dogs. I was born with a deformity in my back right leg caused by an angular limb deformity, which affected the way the bones grew as I developed. The veterinary team here consulted with an orthopedic surgeon and determined that I am currently comfortable and doing well without surgery or amputation. Sometimes it may cause me mild discomfort, but honestly, I don`t spend much time worrying about it. I have too many important things to do, like chasing toys, making friends, and seeing if you`re available for cuddles. My leg is just one small part of my story, not the thing that defines me.As for how I ended up here, I was loved very much by my first family, but they had to move out of state and couldn`t take me with them. A family friend welcomed me into their home, but their resident dog thought my puppy energy was a little too much to handle. Through no fau

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Picasso has already overcome more in his short life than most dogs ever should. He was found abandoned at a mattress dump, sick, starving, and fighting to survive. Thanks to plenty of love, good food, and excellent care, this handsome boy has made an incredible recovery and is now ready to find the forever family he deserves. We believe Picasso is a Boxer mix, so he's likely to grow into a loyal, fun-loving companion with a playful personality. True to his name, he's full of curiosity and is always the first to investigate a new toy, explore a new corner of the yard, or see what's happening around him. He's happy, adventurous, and ready for whatever the day brings. Picasso loves to play, enjoys spending time with people, and is soaking up all the affection he can get. After such a difficult start, he's looking for a family that will show him just how wonderful life can be. If you're searching for a playful best friend with a resilient spirit and a heart full of love, Picasso is ready to brighten your world. Story
Hi, I`m Janie!I`m about 2 years old, and while my story started out a little rough, I`m hoping the next chapter is the best one yet. I was found out on my own as a stray, but now I`m safe and waiting for a family to give me the forever home I`ve been dreaming about. If there`s one thing you should know about me, it`s that I absolutely love people. Being close to my favorite humans is my happy place. Whether we`re going for a car ride, sharing a pup cup, working on training, or just relaxing together, I`m happiest when I`m by your side. I love being brushed, soaking up affection, and leaning in close for pets. Honestly, I never seem to get tired of being loved on!I`m still a young girl with lots of enthusiasm, so sometimes I get a little jumpy or mouthy when I`m excited. I don`t mean any harm—I`m just having fun and haven`t quite learned all my manners yet. With some guidance, consistency, and patience, I`m sure I`ll blossom into an incredible companion. I already enjoy training and would love a family that can help me keep learning and growing. I find agility activities pretty fun too!I`m looking for a home where I can be the only animal, and I`d do best with experienced owners and teens or adults who understand that I still need a little direction. In return, I promise to give you all the love, loyalty, and companionship I have to offer.Life in the shelter has been hard on me. The noise and stress are starting to wear me down, and lately I`ve been feeling pretty sad. I`m having trouble eating, and it`s becoming harder to keep my spirits up while I wait. More than anything, I just want a place where I can relax, feel safe, and know that I belong. A forever home would mean the world to me, but even a foster home could help me decompress and remind me what it feels like to be loved. If you`ve been looking for a sweet, affectionate best friend who will stick by your side through life`s adventures, I hope you`ll come meet me. I can`t wait to find the person who`s been waiting for me too.Love,JanieIf this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Story
Meechy is a 3-year-old Pit Bull with soulful eyes, a gentle heart, and one very important love in life... cheese! This handsome guy recently came to the shelter after his owner, who cared deeply for him, had to make the difficult decision to surrender him due to personal hardships. It`s a big change for Meechy, and he`s taking his time adjusting to all the new sights, sounds, and people.Right now, Meechy is a little shy and we`re still getting to know the real him. Each day he gains a bit more confidence, especially when tasty cheese is involved! We know there`s a wonderful dog waiting to shine as he settles in.Because Meechy likes to build trust at his own pace, he may do best with multiple meet-and-greets so everyone has a chance to get comfortable. We think the right family will see just how special this sweet boy is.If you have a little patience, a kind heart, and maybe a pocket full of cheese, Meechy could be the loyal best friend you`ve been waiting for. Come meet him and help this handsome boy write his next happy chapter! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Story
Hi, I`m Penelope. I may not be the kind of girl who runs up to greet every new person I meet, but if you`re willing to give me a little time, I promise I`ll show you just how special it feels to earn the trust of a shy dog.The people who know me best will tell you that underneath my timid exterior is a sweet, affectionate pup who loves to snuggle and simply be close to the people I love. Once I feel safe, my personality blossoms, and there`s nothing I enjoy more than making my people smile. When I first arrived at the shelter as a stray, the world felt like a very scary place. I wasn`t familiar with walking on a leash, and the busy shelter environment was overwhelming. I was so frightened that I barely wanted to eat. Thankfully, I was given the chance to move into a foster home, and that`s where everyone started to see the real me.It turns out I`m a pretty smart cookie! I learned my daily routine quickly, mastered `sit` in no time, and I`m always excited to learn something new. I love positive encouragement and genuinely want to make my people proud. I`m still polishing my house manners and crate training, but I`m eager to keep learning with a family that`s patient and consistent. One thing that gives me confidence is having another dog around. I absolutely love my canine friends, and they help me feel brave when I`m unsure about something new. Because of that, I`d really like a home with another friendly dog who can help show me that the world is full of good things.I`ve also lived with young children and done well, but I`ll still need a family that understands I like to take introductions at my own pace. My perfect family will have previous experience with dogs and understand that trust isn`t something you rush, it`s something you build together.Because new people and places can still make me nervous, my family will need to meet me several times before I go home so we can get to know each other. I`ll also need a family that`s mindful of my tendency to bolt if I`m frightened, helping me stay safe while my confidence continues to grow. The best things in life are worth waiting for, and I think I`m one of them. Watching a shy dog discover that she`s finally safe is a pretty incredible experience. Every little victory becomes something to celebrate- the first tail wag, the first cuddle, the first time I look at you with complete trust. Those moments mean everything to dogs like me.If you`re the kin
