We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Hi… I’m Peppa! When I first came to the shelter as a stray, I was very scared. The world felt big and confusing, and I wasn’t sure who I could trust. No one knows what my life was like before I arrived, but sometimes new things, and people still make me nervous.The kind people here have been so patient with me. They’ve given me time, gentle voices, and lots of encouragement. Because of them, I’ve started to bloom. I’m still learning that I’m safe but every day gets a little easier.It can take me a little while to warm up to new people. I just need a little patience and understanding. Once I trust you though, I really trust you. I love to be close. I’ll curl up in your lap, ask for hugs and kisses, and follow you from room to room just to be near you. Sweet talk makes me feel very special. Peanut butter and treats help too — those are some of my favorite things!I’m learning so many new things right now. Walks can still feel a little scary sometimes, but I’m trying. I’m also working hard on being brave for medical care. It’s a lot, but I’m doing my best.I would really love a family who will continue helping me grow. If we worked on basic obedience training together, I think it would help me build confidence and bond with you even more. I want to feel proud and secure and I want to know I belong. I need to be the only animal in my home, as other dogs can make me feel unsure.
