Story
Meet Bolo! This 7-year-old Boxer weighs 78 pounds and is looking for a fresh start after being surrendered by his owner. Don't let his kennel behavior fool you—Bolo doesn't always put his best paw forward behind the kennel door, but once he's out, you'll find a friendly, easygoing guy who enjoys spending time with people. He seems to look to his humans for direction, walks nicely on a leash, and while he's on the lower-energy side these days, he still enjoys getting out for strolls and exploring the world. His previous owner trusted him to have free roam of the house when left alone, so he already has some great house manners. Bolo does get a little excited and jumps when greeting people at the door, but that's something his future family can continue to work on with positive training. He has done well with some dogs but can be a bit selective about his canine friends, would do best with older children, and can be cat tested if needed. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's past the wild puppy stage but still has plenty of love to give, Bolo is ready to meet you. Apply at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Story
Welcome Sewanee to PK! This 6-year-old Boxer weighs about 82 pounds and came to us from another rescue. Sewanee is a very friendly, well-mannered guy who seems ready to settle right into family life. He walks nicely on leash, knows his basic commands, and keeps his kennel clean, showing that he’s already got a great foundation of good manners. Sewanee is open to meeting other dogs, can be cat tested if needed, and would likely do very well in a home with kids. With his gentle personality and easygoing nature, he seems like the kind of dog who would make an excellent family companion. Apply at lvpeaceablekingdom.info. Story
Ruthie is a 2-year-old, 60-lb Boxer mix with a gentle soul and a brilliant mind. Before coming into rescue, Ruthie lived on her own for at least 6 months, skillfully evading capture, multiple trapping attempts, and surviving in an industrial area of town. Fed by kind mechanics and workers, she learned how to stay safe, avoid danger, and always show up for food — and that intelligence still shines through today. After a dramatic capture, Ruthie has been in a foster home, where she’s proven to be a very polite houseguest. She is fully house-trained and, even at her scariest moments, has never shown a hint of aggression — no growling, no raised lips, just fear. Ruthie is shy and deeply cautious with people, but she is sweet, gentle, and incredibly observant. We would not be surprised if Ruthie spent some of her life in someone’s home.  This brainy girl reads the room like a pro. She knows when a human might approach and will quietly skedaddle to keep herself feeling safe. While she’s still very nervous about leashes and handling, she allows most people to gently scratch her muzzle, and she’s learning — slowly but surely — that human touch isn’t such a bad thing. Watching her progress has been incredibly rewarding, especially as she’s started to enjoy ear scratches and soft affection from her foster mom. Ruthie is a great pack dog. She does beautifully with dogs of all sizes and temperaments and enjoys playful wrestling with dogs her size, but doesn’t demand play.  She happily coexists with the resident Chihuahua in her foster home. Ruthie is calm and content indoors and also enjoys a daily visit to the dog park. She’s a quiet presence who’s perfectly happy lounging on a chair, listening to her foster mom’s Zoom calls, and soaking in the safety of home life. At home, Ruthie is her foster mom’s quiet shadow. She sleeps in her room, wiggles with excitement when she comes home, follows her around the dog park — and yet may still hop off her bed and slip away if that same foster mom walks toward her for a pet. With Ruthie, trust is built in tiny, meaningful moments, and every day brings progress. Because of her history, Ruthie is a high flight-risk dog, especially in the early days. She will need a very committed adopter with a securely fenced yard, experience with fearful or flight-risk dogs, and a willingness to use safety tools like GPS collars, double leashes, and secure handling. Strength matters too — this is a 60-lb girl who needs someone confident and prepared. Ruthie has been around children at the dog park and treats them like little adults — with polite, reserved hesitation. She is food-motivated, sweet, and incredibly smart. With patience, structure, and time, she has all the makings of a truly special companion. Ruthie is one of those dogs who, with the right adopter and a few committed months of trust-building, will become a dream dog. Watching her finally relax, feel safe, and just be a dog has been an absolute privilege — and we can’t wait to see her find the forever home she deserves. ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 24, 2026, 7:00 pm

Story
Moose is finally ready to find a place to call home. This handsome guy, estimated to be 6–7 years old, has been through more than any dog should ever have to endure. The scared, uncertain dog he once was is gone, replaced by a confident, loving companion who now knows what it feels like to be safe. Wherever Moose goes, he wins people over. With his confident trot and charming personality, he's impossible not to notice. He's a mellow, easygoing boy who loves being close to his people—honestly, "Velcro" might have been a more fitting name! Moose's highlights: Housebroken Crate trained Walks nicely on a leash Loves car rides Good with children Good with other dogs Low-key and easygoing While toys aren't really his thing, he'll happily enjoy a good bone. His zoomies typically last about 30 seconds before he's ready to curl up on the couch and relax for the rest of the day. Moose is the total package: sweet, loyal, gentle, and grateful for every bit of love he receives. Now all he needs is a family of his own. Story
Reintroducing Irene Irene came to us from ACCT Philly with what we originally thought was just excessive skin flaking. After months of treatments that weren’t helping and a visit to the Dermatologist, we finally have answers. Irene has been diagnosed with non-epidermolytic ichthyosis. So what does that mean for Irene? Non-epidermolytic ichthyosis is a genetic, incurable skin condition that causes dry, flaky, “fish-like” scaling on the skin and coat. While there is no cure, it is manageable with consistent care. Irene will need regular topical treatments including moisturizing shampoos, emollients, and essential fatty acid supplements to help maintain her skin barrier and keep her comfortable. What this means for a future family is simple — sometimes Irene will have flare ups that cause large flakes of skin. She needs a home that understands her condition and is willing to help manage it so she can continue thriving. And Irene is SO worth it. She currently lives with both small and large dogs as well as cats. Irene does best with slow introductions and a proper shutdown period because her excitement can sometimes be misunderstood. Once she settles in, her personality shines through. She would thrive with an active family committed to continuing her training and helping her work on her manners. We would absolutely love to see Irene in a local foster-to-adopt home while she adjusts and settles into her new life. Please share Irene — it’s finally her time to shine ✨ Visit www.outcastrescue.com  to apply PA Kennel License #16187   August 15, 2026, 5:45 pm

Story
Meet Picasso — the reformed “bull in a china shop” turned certified beefcake. Picasso came to us from ACCT Philly several months ago weighing a heartbreaking 110 pounds with absolutely zero manners. At the time, this 7-year-old pitbull terrier mix was the definition of chaos wrapped in love. Since then, he has worked incredibly hard and officially reached his goal weight of 80 pounds — and honestly… he looks GOOD. This handsome guy is neutered, microchipped, 4DX negative, up to date on vaccines including Lepto, and on monthly preventatives. He is crate trained, walks nicely on leash, and recently completed a 3-week board and train with Gypsy 9 to help set him up for success in his forever home. Picasso is a dog who absolutely adores his people. He is affectionate, clingy, and fully believes he is a 10-pound lap dog despite being built like a linebacker. Belly rubs, naps across your lap, and soaking up attention are his specialties. He also loves moose antlers and treat puzzles — especially anything durable because this boy is an aggressive chewer. Now for Picasso’s perfect match: • He must be the only pet in the home. While he initially had a good dog meet at the shelter, repeated attempts at introductions and training showed that Picasso truly prefers to fly solo. • He has a sun sensitivity caused by years of sun exposure and his lack of pigmentation. He will need sunscreen and a sun shirt for outdoor adventures to prevent painful skin flare-ups. • He is not a fan of squeaky toys or high-pitched sounds like smoke detectors or bike horns. What Picasso offers in return is endless affection and unwavering loyalty. He deserves a home that wants HIM and only HIM — and trust us, he is more than enough dog to fill your heart.
