Meet Coral! Coral is an 11-year-old, 45 lb Boxer/Pit Bull mix with a beautiful brown brindle coat. She is spayed, potty trained, up to date on vaccinations, and has wonderful house manners. She has free roam of the house when left alone and does not require a crate. Coral loves people and her favorite place is curled up next to her person on the couch. She enjoys short neighborhood walks and relaxing in a sunny spot on the porch or in the grass. She gets along well with other dogs and most other pets. She's great with elementary-aged kids and is calm and gentle around babies and toddlers. Coral has mild arthritis and a few benign fatty lumps, but she is not on any medications. We are rehoming her due to an out-of-state move and rental restrictions. She deserves a loving home where she can enjoy her golden years surrounded by affection.

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Teeka, a 1 year 7 month old spayed female, Boxer mix, 42lbs. She is in a foster home in Houston, TX and can transport out of state once an approved adopter is lined up! The amazing Teeka is on the hunt for her forever home. She specializes in best friending with an emphasis on playing! She currently lives with several larger dogs and is learning to respect their boundaries. She LOVES to play with them, but does need some help realizing when her foster siblings are ready to stop. She has not met any cats, so we’re not sure how she’d react to a feline sibling. Her foster mom says she’s done well meeting new human friends and is learning not to jump on them. Because of this and her high energy levels, we do recommend a home with older dog savvy kids. This smartie is house and crate trained! She sleeps quietly in her crate and is kenneled whenever her foster family is out of the house. We don’t recommend leaving her out unsupervised as she may help herself to whatever she finds in the kitchen. Teeka’s love for food is next level and she will try to sneak a bite from you or the other dog’s bowls, but has shown no signs of resource guarding. She is still working on her leash manners, but is getting better every day! She gets a little too excited when she sees other dogs, but is learning to calm down and continue on her walk. This happy girl absolutely loves toys! She knows where the toy basket is and will get one so you can join in the fun. She’s a huge fan of fetch and tug of war! Teeka is learning the joys of relaxing too. She loves to lay on your legs and get some pets and give some kisses. She’s happy just to be near her humans. Teeka is a young pup with boundless energy that will thrive in a home with a yard, daily exercise, training and patience. She’s a goofy, happy, loving girl and with just one look into those pretty doe eyes, your heart will melt! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her? Story
Ann Marie is the kind of dog who makes you wonder why anyone ever leaves the couch in the first place. One look at her wiggly little body, her happy piggy-snorts, and her dramatic belly-flop routine and you’ll understand exactly why her foster calls her the absolute sweetest girl ever. Honestly, “Ann Marie” feels a little too formal for a dog whose greatest passions in life are naps, snacks, belly rubs, and aggressively cuddling anyone who dares sit down near her. This girl is basically a professional snuggler. She may not have the trophy to prove it, but she is fully convinced she won first place years ago. Her signature move? The Belly Roll™. The second she senses affection might be available, she’ll dramatically plop onto her back, wiggle-wiggle across the couch, and patiently wait for her spa treatment. Belly rubs are not optional in Ann Marie’s world… they are simply part of the daily schedule. Watch her rolls and wiggles in action here! https://youtu.be/8SoGUl3IYv8 At around 8 years old and 50 pounds, Ann Marie has perfected the art of being the ideal low-maintenance companion. We think she may be a boxer/beagle mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess! She’s happy to snooze beside you during a movie marathon, supervise your patio lunch date, join you for a beach day, or accompany you on leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. She’s got enough goofy sparkle left to make you laugh every day, but none of the “chaos gremlin” energy that comes with younger dogs. She is the perfect mix of silly and settled. Her foster says she spends most of her day happily napping on the couch, and honestly? She’s extremely talented at it. Ann Marie absolutely adores people. She lights up around affection and naturally gravitates toward human companionship wherever she goes. She’s lived with a child and done wonderfully, and her foster says she’s been around large groups of people in the home and happily soaked up every ounce of attention. She’s the kind of dog who wants to quietly exist alongside her people, occasionally waddling over for kisses and couch cuddles before returning to her very important nap schedule. When it comes to other dogs, Ann Marie is very much a “thank you, but I already have my people” kind of girl. She’s confident, socially appropriate, and has shown respectful greetings and easy leash manners around other dogs, but she isn’t particularly interested in doggy friendships or chaotic playgroups. Her behavior team described her as more of a roamer who prefers calm energy and personal space. Because of that, Ann Marie would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home where she can fully relax and soak up all the attention. However, with the right match, she may also do well with a calm, confident, lower-energy male dog who respects boundaries and doesn’t try to constantly engage her. If there’s already another dog in the home, her rescue team would want a trainer discussion beforehand to help ensure it’s the right fit for everyone involved. She has also done well around cats, but she would do best with calm, dog-savvy kitties who mostly keep to themselves. Ann Marie isn’t looking for a feline wrestling partner, so playful cats who want to zoom around, swat at her, or constantly get in her face probably wouldn’t be her style. A mellow, respectful cat companion would be much more her speed. She’s house-trained, non-destructive, rides wonderfully in the car, walks beautifully on leash, and doesn’t need much exercise beyond short strolls and sniffy adventures. She would be an amazing apartment dog. And she would be just as content with a yard to sunbathe in. Her ideal home would probably involve comfy furniture, soft blankets, snacks magically appearing on schedule, and humans who appreciate the finer things in life… like afternoon naps and quiet companionship. If you’re an older couple, a retired homebody, or just someone searching for a loving best friend who wants to spend her golden years snuggled up beside you, Ann Marie might genuinely be your perfect match. She’s sweet, easygoing, hilarious in her own little ways, and full of the kind of love that makes a house feel softer and warmer the second she waddles into it. And yes… she still does the happy wiggle-butt thing when treats come out. Some things never change. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Reba is an incredibly sweet and gentle puppy with a soft, loving personality that makes people fall for her very quickly. She has a calmer and more tender way about her while still enjoying all the normal puppy fun like playing, exploring, and spending time with the other dogs. She carries herself with a very affectionate, comforting energy and seems to genuinely enjoy being close to people. She is the kind of puppy who forms strong emotional connections and enjoys quiet affection just as much as playtime. Reba loves being loved on, and once she feels safe and comfortable, she relaxes beautifully into her environment. She has a very warm and gentle presence that would fit wonderfully into a family looking for a loving companion to grow alongside them. Watch her YouTube video now https://youtu.be/ynS3k8Q21f4?si=EbesVGjX2Rix3UT1 Even though she has a softer personality, she is still playful and curious. She enjoys exploring at her own pace, playing with the other puppies, and experiencing new things in a thoughtful way. She would likely do very well in a home that provides both gentle guidance and opportunities to continue building her confidence as she grows. Reba would thrive with adopters who appreciate a sweet-natured dog that enjoys closeness and companionship. She has the kind of temperament that makes you want to include her in every part of daily life — relaxing together in the evenings, spending time outside, going on walks, or simply having her nearby throughout the day. She is still very young and will need all the normal puppy training and consistency, but she already shows so many wonderful qualities. Reba is loving, calm, playful, affectionate, and deeply endearing. She is going to make a beautiful lifelong companion for a very lucky family. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/69ead18da0fc8b7eb30b0ccb Questions? Story
Meet Nina – professionally known as Miss Buttered Roll. Nina is estimated to be around 2 years old, and honestly, we're not convinced she's a real dog. She might actually be a stuffed animal that somehow came to life. With her squishy little body, floppy ears, soulful eyes, and the most adorable collection of puppy rolls you've ever seen, Nina is the kind of dog that makes complete strangers stop and say, "Oh my gosh, LOOK at her!" We aren't exactly sure what breeds make up this precious girl. Maybe there's some hound, some boxer, maybe even a little Beagle mixed in there somewhere. Whatever the recipe was, it turned out absolutely perfect. Watch Nina's video here, then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/iAkCztwa3lY?si=UUdR7D_u09EKv68e Nina's foster family is completely obsessed with her, and it's easy to see why. Her foster dad says that all Nina wants in life is to love people and be loved right back. That's it. That's her dream. She doesn't need fame, fortune, or world domination. Just a comfy place to nap and humans to adore. And adore them she does. Nina is what we like to call a "respectful Velcro dog." She wants to be near her people because you're her favorite thing in the entire world, but she also has lovely manners. She'll follow you from room to room, check in to make sure you're okay, and then politely settle nearby while you cook dinner, work on your laptop, or binge-watch your latest TV obsession. Physically, Nina is pure perfection. Her caramel-colored coat is accented by adorable white markings, and her little body is delightfully squishy in all the right places. She has the kind of extra skin and jiggly rolls that make you want to gently squish her cheeks and tell her she's beautiful approximately 47 times a day. When she gets excited, her whole body seems to wiggle independently, creating what can only be described as a full-body happiness ripple. Nina currently lives with multiple other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. She's playful, social, and likes to join in on the fun. That said, she's also a bit of a self-appointed playground supervisor. If the doggy shenanigans start getting a little too wild, Nina may step in and let everyone know she's keeping an eye on things. Because of this, she tends to do best with thoughtful introductions and dogs who appreciate her leadership style. A calmer dog companion could be a wonderful match, though she'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog. On leash, Nina can get very excited when she sees other dogs and may bark or pull because she wants to investigate. Once proper introductions happen, she's much more relaxed. Because of this, we'd prefer a home environment over apartment living where she'd regularly encounter unfamiliar dogs in tight spaces. As for cats, Nina's cat test was inconclusive. She showed curiosity and interest but remained polite and chose to walk away on her own. We'd be happy to arrange additional cat testing for families with feline friends. Nina hasn't been formally kid tested yet, but based on her incredibly affectionate, gentle, people-loving personality, we think she has the potential to be a wonderful family dog. We're happy to complete kid testing for interested adopters to help ensure the best match. The truth is, Nina is one of those dogs that just makes life better. She's funny without trying, sweet without effort, and loving without limits. She's the dog who will greet you like you've been gone for years when you were only outside taking out the trash. The dog who will happily curl up next to you after a long day and remind you that everything is going to be okay. If you've been searching for a best friend with a heart of gold, a face that belongs on a greeting card, and enough squishiness to heal your soul, Nina is waiting to meet you. Apply today and adopt the world's cutest little butter roll. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a15fa637edb59c3c00888ef Questions? When you meet me, one of my shelter friends can help demonstrate my skills!I need a slow introduction to cats. I can share my space with cats, but I'd like to get used to the idea over time.I'm an active dog! I would love to go home with a family who can help me burn off energy with exercise, playtime, and outdoor adventures.I may jump and play rough. I don't mean to, I just get really excited when I play!I'd like a home where my family is home often. I'm just really social and love spending time with people, I prefer to not be left alone for long periods. It's recommended I meet any dogs or kids living in my new home before I'm adopted. I just want to make sure we all get along. Primary Color: Brown Secondary Color: White Weight: 88.4 Age: 2yrs 2mths 3wks

Story
Hi… my name is Peaches 🍑❤️ I’m a 5-year-old Pittie mix from Tijuana, Mexico, and I’m looking for my foster or forever home here in Portland, Oregon. Before I was rescued, I spent most of my life living neglected in a cage. But some amazing humans saved me and helped me travel all the way here so I could finally have a chance at a real life filled with love, grass, cuddles, and snacks. I’m spayed, fully vaccinated, and I LOVE people. I’m also good with dogs and even some cats! I can be a little protective of my dinner or treats around other dogs sometimes, but my foster families have helped me so much and I’ve done really well living with other dogs and even a cat. I’m also working on getting healthier and stronger. I’ve already lost 6 pounds in the last 6 weeks because I LOVE walks. Grass and trails are my favorite things ever. I do have an old wrist injury from my life in Tijuana that healed a little funny, so I’m more of a “lots of shorter walks” girl instead of long hikes. Dr. March at Riverbend Vet checked me out and says it looks stable. My favorite hobbies include: • Giving kisses • Getting kisses • Snuggling • Eating snacks • More kisses • Naps • Following you around lovingly Did I mention I’m a really great kisser? Because I am. LOL. I’d probably do best in a home with a fenced yard and some grass to roll around on. Older kids would be best too — not because I’m mean at all, but because I get excited and could accidentally knock over little humans. More than anything, I just want a family of my own. Would you like to meet me or maybe foster me? Please contact Jeff with The Forgotten Dog Foundation to set up a meet-and-greet: 📞 Jeff — 971-285-7160
