Story
Against all odds Callie with the sweet heart! Beautiful 4-year-old brindle female American Pit Bull Terrier, Callie was found abandoned and lost wandering down a road in Washington. Adopted from a shelter and returned because the family could not afford to keep her, Callie has been in board and train ever since funded by good Samaritans. Although shy and reserved until she knows you, once she trusts you, she trusts you completely. Would do best in an experienced home, no cats, may be compatible with some dogs. Callie learns quickly and is doing well in boarding. 501(c)(3) Non-profit rescue seeking foster or foster to adopt who will continue Callie’s lessons as she learns to become confident and unafraid again. Story
Ann Marie is the kind of dog who makes you wonder why anyone ever leaves the couch in the first place. One look at her wiggly little body, her happy piggy-snorts, and her dramatic belly-flop routine and you’ll understand exactly why her foster calls her the absolute sweetest girl ever. Honestly, “Ann Marie” feels a little too formal for a dog whose greatest passions in life are naps, snacks, belly rubs, and aggressively cuddling anyone who dares sit down near her. This girl is basically a professional snuggler. She may not have the trophy to prove it, but she is fully convinced she won first place years ago. Her signature move? The Belly Roll™. The second she senses affection might be available, she’ll dramatically plop onto her back, wiggle-wiggle across the couch, and patiently wait for her spa treatment. Belly rubs are not optional in Ann Marie’s world… they are simply part of the daily schedule. Watch her rolls and wiggles in action here! https://youtu.be/8SoGUl3IYv8 At around 8 years old and 50 pounds, Ann Marie has perfected the art of being the ideal low-maintenance companion. We think she may be a boxer/beagle mix, but with rescue it’s always a guess! She’s happy to snooze beside you during a movie marathon, supervise your patio lunch date, join you for a beach day, or accompany you on leisurely strolls around the neighborhood. She’s got enough goofy sparkle left to make you laugh every day, but none of the “chaos gremlin” energy that comes with younger dogs. She is the perfect mix of silly and settled. Her foster says she spends most of her day happily napping on the couch, and honestly? She’s extremely talented at it. Ann Marie absolutely adores people. She lights up around affection and naturally gravitates toward human companionship wherever she goes. She’s lived with a child and done wonderfully, and her foster says she’s been around large groups of people in the home and happily soaked up every ounce of attention. She’s the kind of dog who wants to quietly exist alongside her people, occasionally waddling over for kisses and couch cuddles before returning to her very important nap schedule. When it comes to other dogs, Ann Marie is very much a “thank you, but I already have my people” kind of girl. She’s confident, socially appropriate, and has shown respectful greetings and easy leash manners around other dogs, but she isn’t particularly interested in doggy friendships or chaotic playgroups. Her behavior team described her as more of a roamer who prefers calm energy and personal space. Because of that, Ann Marie would likely be happiest as the only dog in the home where she can fully relax and soak up all the attention. However, with the right match, she may also do well with a calm, confident, lower-energy male dog who respects boundaries and doesn’t try to constantly engage her. If there’s already another dog in the home, her rescue team would want a trainer discussion beforehand to help ensure it’s the right fit for everyone involved. She has also done well around cats, but she would do best with calm, dog-savvy kitties who mostly keep to themselves. Ann Marie isn’t looking for a feline wrestling partner, so playful cats who want to zoom around, swat at her, or constantly get in her face probably wouldn’t be her style. A mellow, respectful cat companion would be much more her speed. She’s house-trained, non-destructive, rides wonderfully in the car, walks beautifully on leash, and doesn’t need much exercise beyond short strolls and sniffy adventures. She would be an amazing apartment dog. And she would be just as content with a yard to sunbathe in. Her ideal home would probably involve comfy furniture, soft blankets, snacks magically appearing on schedule, and humans who appreciate the finer things in life… like afternoon naps and quiet companionship. If you’re an older couple, a retired homebody, or just someone searching for a loving best friend who wants to spend her golden years snuggled up beside you, Ann Marie might genuinely be your perfect match. She’s sweet, easygoing, hilarious in her own little ways, and full of the kind of love that makes a house feel softer and warmer the second she waddles into it. And yes… she still does the happy wiggle-butt thing when treats come out. Some things never change. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life? Story
Meet Nina – professionally known as Miss Buttered Roll. Nina is estimated to be around 2 years old, and honestly, we're not convinced she's a real dog. She might actually be a stuffed animal that somehow came to life. With her squishy little body, floppy ears, soulful eyes, and the most adorable collection of puppy rolls you've ever seen, Nina is the kind of dog that makes complete strangers stop and say, "Oh my gosh, LOOK at her!" We aren't exactly sure what breeds make up this precious girl. Maybe there's some hound, some boxer, maybe even a little Beagle mixed in there somewhere. Whatever the recipe was, it turned out absolutely perfect. Watch Nina's video here, then come back to read more! https://youtu.be/iAkCztwa3lY?si=UUdR7D_u09EKv68e Nina's foster family is completely obsessed with her, and it's easy to see why. Her foster dad says that all Nina wants in life is to love people and be loved right back. That's it. That's her dream. She doesn't need fame, fortune, or world domination. Just a comfy place to nap and humans to adore. And adore them she does. Nina is what we like to call a "respectful Velcro dog." She wants to be near her people because you're her favorite thing in the entire world, but she also has lovely manners. She'll follow you from room to room, check in to make sure you're okay, and then politely settle nearby while you cook dinner, work on your laptop, or binge-watch your latest TV obsession. Physically, Nina is pure perfection. Her caramel-colored coat is accented by adorable white markings, and her little body is delightfully squishy in all the right places. She has the kind of extra skin and jiggly rolls that make you want to gently squish her cheeks and tell her she's beautiful approximately 47 times a day. When she gets excited, her whole body seems to wiggle independently, creating what can only be described as a full-body happiness ripple. Nina currently lives with multiple other dogs and enjoys having canine friends around. She's playful, social, and likes to join in on the fun. That said, she's also a bit of a self-appointed playground supervisor. If the doggy shenanigans start getting a little too wild, Nina may step in and let everyone know she's keeping an eye on things. Because of this, she tends to do best with thoughtful introductions and dogs who appreciate her leadership style. A calmer dog companion could be a wonderful match, though she'd also be perfectly happy soaking up all the attention as an only dog. On leash, Nina can get very excited when she sees other dogs and may bark or pull because she wants to investigate. Once proper introductions happen, she's much more relaxed. Because of this, we'd prefer a home environment over apartment living where she'd regularly encounter unfamiliar dogs in tight spaces. As for cats, Nina's cat test was inconclusive. She showed curiosity and interest but remained polite and chose to walk away on her own. We'd be happy to arrange additional cat testing for families with feline friends. Nina hasn't been formally kid tested yet, but based on her incredibly affectionate, gentle, people-loving personality, we think she has the potential to be a wonderful family dog. We're happy to complete kid testing for interested adopters to help ensure the best match. The truth is, Nina is one of those dogs that just makes life better. She's funny without trying, sweet without effort, and loving without limits. She's the dog who will greet you like you've been gone for years when you were only outside taking out the trash. The dog who will happily curl up next to you after a long day and remind you that everything is going to be okay. If you've been searching for a best friend with a heart of gold, a face that belongs on a greeting card, and enough squishiness to heal your soul, Nina is waiting to meet you. Apply today and adopt the world's cutest little butter roll. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/6a15fa637edb59c3c00888ef Questions? Story
Meet George, a one-year-old goofball with a heart full of love and a body that seems to be powered entirely by joy. George is the kind of puppy who believes the world exists to be loved, kissed, and played with, preferably all at once. From the moment you meet him, he wiggles his whole squishy little body straight into your space, climbs right into your lap, and reminds you that no one is a stranger—just a friend he hasn’t kissed yet. His sweet, goofy puppy smile and endlessly wagging, longgg tail (which functions more like a propeller) make it impossible not to fall for him instantly. George absolutely adores people. He is affectionate, cuddly, and so eager to be part of whatever you’re doing. He would be thrilled to be your shadow, your couch companion, your adventure buddy, and your reason to laugh every single day. Despite his busy puppy energy, he has a soft, loving side and is happiest when he’s close to his humans, soaking up attention and giving out kisses like it’s his full-time job. Watch his video, then you'll officially be in love! https://youtu.be/slAlUsSrZpc?si=DIMvZoA5PTxIgSY2 When George isn’t loving on his people, he is playing—because play is truly his greatest passion in life. He is incredibly dog-friendly and greets every dog the exact same way: an immediate play bow, lots of kisses, and then straight into joyful chaos. Confident dogs, shy dogs, playful dogs, aloof dogs—George loves them all. He is a rough-and-rowdy, pushy puppy player who thrives with dogs that enjoy that style of play. He loves running, chasing games, tug, sharing toys, and even lazy play sessions. One of his most endearing quirks is his signature move of ducking under things like they’re his own personal tunnels, because clearly that’s the more fun route. George currently lives with multiple dogs and does great in a pack, and he would absolutely love having dog siblings in his future home. That said, he also loves his people just as much and could be happy as an only dog if his humans are ready to keep him engaged and active. George is still very much a puppy and comes with all that happy, bouncy energy. He walks beautifully on leash and checks in constantly, turning to you with eye contact when you say “let’s go,” making him a wonderful companion for walks, outings, and adventures. He would be the perfect dog to take everywhere with you, always ready for the next experience as long as he’s by your side. He does live with cats and approaches them with sweet, goofy intentions, but he can be a little too playful at times. He doesn’t want to harm them—he just wants them to play, endlessly, even when they are very clearly done. Because of this, a cat-free home would be ideal. However, we do think he could go into a home with kitty friends. If he were to live with cats, he would need a playful dog companion to redirect his energy, along with cats who have safe spaces to escape and take a break. George loves kids and does well with them, but he is a growing boy with a lot of enthusiasm and can be a bit rough in his excitement. Older kids who can handle his bouncy play and occasional hops of love would be the best fit. He would be an amazing family dog; he’s playful and cuddly, the perfect formula for a kiddo’s best friend! As for his future home, George is an extremely adaptable pup. He could do well in an apartment with an active family or in a home with a yard where he can zoom and burn off some of that puppy energy. Continued training will help him channel all that excitement, but his eagerness to engage and love people makes him a joy to work with. George is, at his core, a silly, affectionate, playful little soul who wants nothing more than to love hard and live life to the fullest. If you’re looking for a dog who will make you laugh, keep you moving, and love you with his entire wiggly body, George is ready to be your best friend. 💙 Ready to welcome this goofball into your life? Story
A perfect snuggle buddy, a loyal bestie, a perfect work-from-home companion, a total goof ball, and last but certainly not the least…she’s the gal with the cutest piggie-like face. Lucy Love checks every box. There is no question that Lucy is special in so many ways, but there is a quality about her that sets her apart from all the others that makes her so much more special. This sweet girly is deaf! Even with those adorable floppy big ears, girlfriend can’t hear a thing out of them LOL. Don’t let her hearing impairment fool you though, she is fully equipped with all the tools and skills necessary to help her communicate to those around her. Lucy is an adorable boxer mix who closely resembles a little piglet LOL. We believe she is a little over 3.5 years old and currently weighs 59 lbs. She is a rescue dog and with any rescue, it's always a mystery and we cannot guarantee breed or age. We do know that she's the absolute best though! With her expressive adorably squishy face and the established hand commands she already knows (that’s right, she knows sign language), she is able to communicate beautifully. One of her hand signs that lets her know she is being the best girl ever, is “hang loose.” How cool is that? You get to give your dog the hang loose sign and Lucy will understand exactly what you’re talking about. Lucy went to professional training to learn all of these important and also cool tools to help her communicate and we go through all of them in her video as well. Watch her video and learn all there is to know about Lucy: https://youtu.be/KH6MqBflIVc?si=_3Mb941M9HTAOLK8 Lucy is currently thriving in a foster home and they describe her as the perfect mix of a playful pup and a couch potato. Some of her favorite places to be are snuggled right up next to her foster mom as close as she can get and it’s the same with her husband. She also loves to sneak in a kiss attack too LOL! If there’s a will there’s a way with miss Lucy especially when it comes to kisses. Her snuggles are so good that we had to add it to her name because it’s more than just a thing she loves, it’s a part of her personality. She LOVES to cuddle. No need to worry about buying a weighted blanket or getting cold in the winter time because Lucy has you covered there. Also side note, it should go without saying how smart Lucy is. Where she lacks in hearing she definitely makes up for it with her wits and her phenomenal personality. Which is by far everyone’s favorite thing about her! When you first meet her and as you learn to communicate with her, her goofy, silly, outgoing and loving personality can take some time to really shine through but man once y’all are on the same wavelength, there’s no looking back! Lucy also has a silly goofy side to her as well. She loves to play with toys and will toss them in the air like she’s air bud, makes the cutest piggie type noises and grunts (sometimes snores), wiggles so much when she’s excited or happy about something that her paws almost leave the ground, and her expressive face is just something else. There are times where she will give you this look with so much sass and attitude that you can’t help but laugh at it. Especially when she “talks” to you when she wants something. So sassy but so sweet at the same time. Lucy is a character no doubt about that. She is dog friendly and is currently fostered in a home with an 8lb, 15 year old pomeranian, a 40lb, 1 year old pittie mix, and a 50lb, 3 year old black lab mix and gets along great with all of them. She loves to play, wrestle like she’s a pro MMA fighter, and loves their company. Just like with people, it takes her a little bit of time to open up fully around other dogs and will do best with slower paced introductions and interactions at first. Once that trust is built and she is comfortable and the other dog(s) in the home understand her and her personality, they will be besties for life. Lucy is also the type that doesn’t need another dog in the home to help her open up, she’s going to need time to adjust regardless. So if you don’t have other dogs that is totally fine too! She has enough love in her bones equivalent to 5 dogs combined. You’ll also see in her video that she has been around cats and has stayed in a home over night with a cat before. When it comes to cats and her relationship with cats, there are specific requirements that she will need to have if there is a cat in the home and the type of cat that is in the home. All of that information is also explained in her video as well. If Lucy had a report card separated out into categories of training ability, house manners, potty training, crate trained, leash skills, etc. she would get an A++ in every single category! There really isn’t an area that this little lady does not excel in. She would thrive in a home that has a backyard where she can sunbathe, play fetch, stretch her legs, and a cozy spot on the couch right next to you at the end of the day. Lucy is more of a homebody and likes the comforts of her home. She does enjoy going on adventures though she prefers the type of adventures where there is less foot traffic. She does great out in public, the common denominator in all of these scenarios is that she is with a handler that learns how to communicate with her, maintains structure and boundaries, is led with confidence, and is with someone who advocates for her. The consistent leadership helps her feel safe and allows her loving goofy personality to shine through. I mean, she is running on a slightly different operating system here LOL. Just call her perfectly imperfect. Due to her perfectly imperfect imperfections and to ensure her success in her new home, Lucy Love is available for local adoption ONLY in the Houston area. We are willing to test Lucy Love with anything you need us to in order to ensure she is the perfect match for you! We can make most anything happen! Just let us know. Story
Meet Mabel, the brindle-and-white beauty with a heart as soft as her favorite squeaky toy! 💖 Mabel is a boxer-pitty mix (breed not promised!) with golden eyes that sparkle with sweetness and just a hint of sass. She’s the total package — equal parts gentle snugglebug and goofy playmate. Her dream day? Snoozing on a cozy couch, collecting belly rubs, squeaking her beloved stuffies to her heart’s content, and basking in the love of her people. Mabel is the kind of girl who gives her whole heart once she trusts you — she just takes a minute to make sure you’re as kind as you look. Once she knows you’re safe, get ready for the melt-your-heart cuddles and her signature “Mabel lean,” where she presses her whole body against you for hugs. She loves love and is the perfect match for someone who wants a calm, affectionate companion who’s happiest just being near you. Watch Mabel in action here! https://youtu.be/tWLIvDsTjH8?si=5UhqFJb2MAA5_K-f She enjoys the company of other dogs who have good manners — she’s kind of like the hall monitor of the playgroup, gently reminding everyone to keep things civilized. 😆 She has a soft spot for respectful, chill doggy friends but could just as happily be the only spoiled princess soaking up all the attention herself. Mabel also met a kitty friend and did great — she was curious but polite, choosing to quietly observe instead of chase. With a slow introduction and some supervision, she could share her home with a confident cat buddy. This gorgeous girl is low-energy at heart, more of a “Netflix-and-snack” gal than a “5-mile-hike” type. She’s gentle, easy to correct, and loves routine. Because she can get a little unsure of other dogs while on leash, she’d do best in a home (no apartments, please!) where she can relax and enjoy life without too many leashed meet-and-greets. If you’re looking for a sweet, soulful companion with the perfect mix of cuddle and character, Mabel’s your girl. 💕 One look into those golden eyes, and you’ll be absolutely smitten — promise. Mabel’s dream home: Calm, loving humans, maybe a respectful dog friend or a cat, a cozy couch, and endless squeaky toys. Ready to welcome a new furry friend into your life?
Ongoing training will continue in foster/adopt care. For more information text or call (509) 330-1136 or E-mail carmel@completebbs.com, or gocbwatchdog23@gmail.com
