HI - I'M RILEY, and I'm looking for a special adopter! ! I'm a 3-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home. I was rescued from a California shelter where I was pretty terrified - I sat in the back and looked at people as they walked by. Now, whenever I go someplace new, I'm scared all over again, until I really bond with my person. I have done fine with other dogs so far, but I need someone who can take me in and work with me to help me become confident and secure. I weigh about 50-55 lbs. She could be older or younger but definitely acts like she has puppy energy sometimes. She loves to lay around and isn’t very good about walks. She hates camping and isn’t good with dogs but hasn’t had any biting accidents with us. She has been having potty problems that are rooted in behavioral issues. She will pee if kicked off the bed or not given enough attention to. She is usually good about alerting for food, potty and attention but has started to pee in the house very frequently. If sitting on the couch together she will growl until she is allowed up and included. She would do well with someone who maybe has a yard or works from home and can give her the attention she needs.

MEET ROMEO, a handsome, loyal, protective Black Mouth Cur. Romeo is a gorgeous 6-1/2-year-old male, and he weighs about 74 lbs. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be a wonderful companion for someone who loves to hike and go on exciting journeys! Romeo is a great guard dog and can be protective with people he does not know, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern or with an experienced adopter. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done great with other dogs in a home setting. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. His bond is very strong. He is not a big fan of kids. Romeo is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub! He will benefit from exercise, and people who understand his breed. Kenji Cowboy has that sweet, slightly bashful charm that makes you want to earn your way into his heart and inner circle. He is gentle, handsome, and a little unsure when something is brand new, but give him a moment to take it all in and a treat for good measure, and you will quickly see what a lovely young dog he is. Kenji is still figuring out the world, and he approaches it thoughtfully, with soft manners, a curious heart, and an increasingly brave little cowboy spirit. He is currently fostered in a loving home with other dogs and has been getting plenty of opportunities to experience life beyond the house too. His foster regularly brings him along for patio lunches and dinners in the city, and Kenji handles those outings with a wonderfully calm demeanor for such a young dog. He is not trying to work the room or introduce himself to every person who passes. He is much more content hanging with his person, watching the world go by, and quietly taking everything in. He has good basic leash skills and is treat motivated and eager to learn, giving his future family a really nice foundation to continue building on. Kenji is dog friendly and wonderfully polite when meeting new dogs. He can be shy at first and prefers a little time to decide that his new acquaintance is, in fact, friend material. Once he warms up, he is a sweet and gentle playmate. He is not the type to barrel into an introduction demanding immediate friendship, and his softer approach makes him especially endearing. One thing that can convince this reserved cowboy to cut loose? The water hose. Kenji loves playing in the water, and it is an adorable glimpse of the silly young dog underneath that initially cautious exterior. He is also a great car companion once aboard. Kenji has not quite cracked the complicated engineering problem of getting himself into the car yet, so he currently appreciates a little boost. Once inside, however, he settles in and rides peacefully and happily. Kenji was polite when introduced to our house cat, although he was clearly unsure what exactly he was supposed to make of this strange little creature. Because he does not currently live with cats, we would recommend some initial boundaries, thoughtful introductions, and supervision if his future home includes a feline friend while everyone gets comfortable with one another. At nine months old, Kenji still has plenty to learn, but there is something really special about the foundation already there. He is gentle, affectionate, observant, dog friendly, easy to take out into the world, and very willing to learn when treats are part of the negotiation. He may need a little encouragement for some of life's firsts, but every new experience is another chance for this sweet cowboy to discover that he can do it. He was originally rescued from a California shelter, where he was a shelter favorite. He takes treats gently and he loves car rides and the snow! He has done well with other dogs in the past, though would probably do best with another female dog or as an only pet where he can soak in the attention. Like many rescued dogs he has some minor resource guarding over food, but beyond that he's just the most amazing soul. Brody is about 4-1/2 years old and weighs 68 lbs.
