Story
Hi, I am Monkey! I am a happy, playful, and quirky little dog with lots of personality. I love to play with other dogs, go for walks, and snuggle on the couch with my people. I enjoy lying in the sun and being lazy, but I also get the zoomies and love to play when the mood hits me.I was hit by a car in front of my rescuer house in May 2025 and had a fractured femur that was surgically repaired. I used to live across the street, mostly outside, but after my accident, the man who had me did not want me back. That turned out to be lucky for me because now I am looking for a loving forever home where I will be wanted and loved.I am kennel trained, affectionate, and loyal. I would do great in a home with another dog and an owner who enjoys walks and snuggle time. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. Story
Hi, I am Apolo! I am a playful, happy, and very friendly young dog. I love going for walks, playing with other dogs, and getting pets from every human I meet. I was abandoned at the door of an Oxxo in San Pedro, injured and alone. Thankfully, I was rescued and finally given the care I needed.I am an active pup with lots of energy and a wonderful temperament. I am sweet, social, and I love being part of the action. My ideal home has other dogs, a person who enjoys exercise, and a family full of love. I should not live with cats, and I would not do well with someone who is not active.I am ready to bring joy, playfulness, and affection into my forever home. This dog is currently in foster care in La Paz, Mexico, but will be transported upon adoption or foster placement. Story
Meet Victoria Victoria is a 4-month-old puppy (DOB: 10/21/25). We think she may have a little sharpei and Carolina Dog in her. She has a beautiful golden-tan coat, soulful eyes, and an adorable curly tail that gives her so much personality. She’s a sweet and curious girl who loves exploring the outdoors and staying close to her people. For such a young pup, Victoria is already doing amazing — she is potty trained and doggy-door trained, which will make her transition into a new home much easier. She’s a smart little girl who learns quickly and loves to please. Victoria enjoys playtime, sniffing around outside, and relaxing near her humans after a fun day of puppy adventures. She would thrive in a loving home that can continue helping her grow with patience, guidance, and lots of affection. With her playful spirit, sweet nature, and that cute curly tail that never stops wagging, Victoria is ready to find the forever family she deserves. If you’re looking for a loving, smart puppy who already has a great start in life, Victoria might be the perfect addition to your family. Victoria is up to date on vaccines, microchipped and healthy.

Story
Wednesday is currently in a foster home in HOUSTON, TX and is eligible to transport to an adopter as soon as one is lined up. Our adoption application can be found at the bottom of this pet's bio. Once your application has been approved, we'll arrange a virtual meet & greet with you and Wednesday. Meet Wednesday! Wednesday and her brother Pugsley were found roaming as strays at a local public school. They both were crossing a busy street and teachers were worried they would get hit by a car. One of the teachers reached out to us for help with getting the 2 off the streets and we were able to take them both in. Wednesday is now in a loving foster home and is flourishing, but she's ready for her forever home! Wednesday is estimated to be about 6 months old (as of 12/13/25) and is fully vaccinated and microchipped. She'll be spayed between 6 months - 1 year of age. Wednesday is a shepherd mix and currently weighs 30 pounds. We do anticipate she will grow to be a medium - large sized pup once she's fully grown. Breed, age & estimated weight are all based off of our vet's best estimate since we don't have any parents to go off of. Wednesday is dog friendly and currently lives with other dogs in her foster home. She enjoys running and playing with her doggie foster siblings. She's young and still has some puppy energy, but her foster mom also describes her as a couch potato who enjoys cuddles on the couch with her human. Wednesday is also cat friendly and currently lives with cats in her foster home. Her foster mom describes her as very calm and says that Wednesday is fine with the cats and doesn't really pay any attention to them. Wednesday is kid friendly and has been around children ages 2 and 8 and she is so sweet and gentle with everyone. Wednesday is potty and crate trained and does well in her crate! She stays in there while her foster mom is away from home for work or errands. She sleeps in bed with her foster mom at night time and is such a good girl. She curls up in bed and sleeps all through the night. Wednesday is still a young pup, so she's still learning to walk on a leash, but she's such a smart girl and a quick learner! Wednesday is great in the car and just sits back and enjoys the ride! Here's a small blurb about Wednesday from her foster mom: Wednesday is the sweetest girl and deserves the best home! She enjoys the company of her human and doggie companions and loves being near you and spending time with you. She's very patient with little kiddos and doesn't pay attention to the cats. She is gentle, sweet and cuddly. She's the perfect companion to take out to a coffee shop and just have her sit at your feet. She truly doesn't know a stranger! We've taken her to multiple events and she loves meeting new people and getting cuddles. She'll make the perfect addition to any loving family! Story
Meet Leeta Name: LeetaAge: 5 yearsSex: Female (Spayed)Breed: Shiba MixWeight: 9.8 kg (a little chubby )Height: 32 cm (shoulder height)   Rescue Story Leeta’s previous owner entered a nursing home. Unfortunately, his son was unable to care for her, and she was surrendered to a shelter.   ‍‍‍ People & SocializationLeeta is a gentle and affectionate dog who just needs a little time to warm up. She may be cautious at first, but after spending 1–2 hours together, she begins to trust and will lean into you for pets or gently paw at you to ask for attention. She absolutely loves treats, which helps her bond quickly with new people. However, in unfamiliar environments, loud voices or being approached too quickly may scare her, and she may try to move away. She is comfortable being handled by her trusted person but may avoid being picked up by strangers—especially in stressful situations (like vet visits or getting into a car). She likely just isn’t used to being lifted. No known experience with children under 13 Enjoys affection once comfortable Shows her belly when she trusts you     Dog SocializationLeeta’s reactions to other dogs depend on their behavior. Gentle, calm dogs → she greets politely and may even play (play bow!) Pushy or reactive dogs → she can become defensive (growling or reacting) She has shown some dominant behaviors (like mounting) when first meeting new dogs and may be more assertive with smaller or younger dogs. However, she tends to settle well with calm, slightly larger, or respectful dogs. Careful introductions are important, as she may react if another dog is aggressive or confrontational. She may growl at food from other dogs (not from people).   Cat TestLeeta has seen a resident cat at the vet. She was initially curious, but became overly excited when the cat moved, so caution and slow introductions would be needed in a home with cats.   Energy LevelModerate energyShe enjoys outdoor activities but settles down calmly afterward.   ‍ Walk & Leash Can pull on leash but generally follows her handler well Walks nicely in quiet areas Can be scared of busy roads and traffic   Car & Crate Calm and quiet once inside the car (no motion sickness) However, she is scared of getting into the car and needs to be lifted in Calm in a kennel/crate   House Training Mostly outdoor potty If left too long (7–8 hours), she may use an indoor bathroom area   Personality & NotesLeeta may look like a typical Shiba, but she has a softer, more affectionate personality. She was deeply loved by her previous owner and is now adjusting to a completely new life after losing him. Because of this, she may seem a little timid at first—but once she feels safe, her true personality shines: Affectionate and loving Expressive (nudging with her body or pawing gently for pets) Smart and observant Quiet (rarely barks) She isn’t very familiar with toys yet, likely due to her past lifestyle, but once comfortable, she shows playful behaviors like play bows and engaging with her person. She may hesitate in unfamiliar environments such as long staircases or large buildings, likely due to limited exposure.   Ideal HomeLeeta would thrive in a patient, understanding home that can: Give her time to adjust and build trust Provide calm, structured introductions to new environments and dogs Continue working on leash manners and confidence   If you’re looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will blossom into a deeply affectionate dog once she trusts you, Leeta could be the perfect match. Story
Meet Dongree   Breed: Shiba mix Age: 4 years old Sex: Spayed female Colour: Brown Weight: 14kg Height (to shoulder): 45cm   Rescue Story   Donggree was rescued from a city shelter’s euthanasia list and has been waiting patiently ever since for a family of her own.   She may take a few days to open up — usually between 3 days to a week — but once she feels safe, her loving and playful personality shines through. She’s affectionate with familiar people and allows gentle handling or even being lifted once trust is built.   Personality & Socialization   Donggree has the classic Shiba mix personality — a little cautious at first, independent, yet deeply loyal once she bonds with you.   She gets along well with most dogs, both larger and smaller, but can react if another dog challenges her. For this reason, careful introductions with new dogs are recommended. With friendly dogs, however, she loves to play and enjoys companionship.   Her reaction to cats hasn’t been observed yet.   Energy Level & Behavior   Donggree has a moderate energy level. She enjoys outdoor walks and activities but settles calmly afterward. She walks well overall, though she may pull on the leash occasionally. Once the leash is on, she follows nicely and enjoys the walk.   She doesn’t guard food from people or other dogs and behaves quietly in her kennel. She feels anxious about car rides, so she prefers to be held during transport.   She’s comfortable using both pee pads indoors and pottying outdoors, which makes her adaptable to different home environments.   A Loyal and Independent Spirit   Donggree is a bright, affectionate girl with that unmistakable Shiba charm — loyal, clean, and quietly confident. She may be cautious at first, but with patience and consistency, she opens up to reveal a loving heart.   Once she trusts you, she’ll become your faithful shadow, following you with her signature calm energy and gentle eyes.   Ideal Home: A patient and understanding family who can give her the time she needs to build trust. A home that appreciates the independent but affectionate nature of Shiba mixes would be perfect for her.   Donggree may take a little time to trust, but once she does, she’ll stay by your side for life — loyal, loving, and full of quiet strength. Apply to foster or adopt to show her how beautiful the world can be. www.adoptmekr.org Please also visit our Facebook or Instagram.
