Story

Yeti is a handsome 6-year old male kitty who was brought to the HSOV on March 11, 2026 by a Good Samaritan who found him on Florence Street in Belpre Ohio. Yeti was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped. Yeti has a snow white short-haired coat, a long tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. Yeti was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on March 12, 2026. He weighed 9.1 lbs that day. Yeti was given booster vaccines on March 31, 2026. This sweet boy has a quiet, easygoing personality and loves attention. Yeti was examined by one of our local veterinarians on March 24th and was diagnosed as being diabetic, so he is being listed as a ‘Special Needs Kitty’ for that reason. Yeti has been given daily insulin injections and is doing very well thanks to his veterinarian who has been monitoring dosages (and the excellent care from our HSOV Feline Kennel Techs). Yeti is currently enjoying a triple-decker cat tower in the lobby of our shelter. He is ready to find a fabulous home with an individual or family who is experienced in caring for a diabetic kitty. Yeti was already neutered when he entered our shelter, so he could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application.

Story

Grady is a handsome 14-year old male kitty who was surrendered by his owner on April 29, 2026. This senior gentleman has a gray short smooth coat, a long darker gray tail, and an adorable face with golden eyes, a gray velvet nose, and long white whiskers. Grady has a quiet, rather shy, personality. He loves to snuggle up beneath his blankets for a sense of security. Grady does not get along with other cats, and he would do best in a quiet home without dogs since they tend to stress him out too much. Grady weighs 9 lbs. Grady has already been neutered. He is also front-paw declawed, so he would need to be an exclusive indoor-only kitty. Happy Update: Grady was adopted this afternoon (August 28th 2026) and went home with a fabulous new family.

Story

Iguana is an adorable male kitten who arrived at HSOV July 7th 2026 after he and his nine siblings/relatives were found on Wentz Road in the Marietta Ohio area. Iguana was a tiny 6-week old baby at that time. Iguana has a white shorthaired coat with gray tabby markings, a long ringed tail, and the cutest white/gray tabby face with golden eyes, a pink/black nose, and long white whiskers. Iguana was given vaccinations on July 16th 2026. He was given booster vaccines on August 5th. Iguana also received flea treatment and Drontal dewormer during the month of August 2026. This little sweetheart has a super-sweet disposition and is also quite playful. Iguana is good with other kittens as well as children. These photos of Iguana were taken on August 7th and 8th 2026. Iguana posed perfectly for his 'big boy' pictures and looked like a professional model for Kitten Fancy Magazine. He is currently sharing a double-wide cage in The Jungle Room with two of his siblings (Basilisk and Blue-Tongued Skink), and they royally entertain each other. Iguana will be neutered in the near future (tentatively on September 14th) and will soon be ready to find a loving home of his very own. Naturally we'd love to see him adopted with one of his siblings or another kitten.

Story

Pancake is a beautiful 4-month old female Torbie kitten who arrived at HSOV on July 26th 2026 along with her three siblings (Bacon, Bagel, and Waffle) and her mother (Maple). Unfortunately the individual(s) who entrusted them to our care did not provide any information about them. Pancake has a stunning brown-and-orange/bronze marbled shorthaired coat, a long ringed tail, and an adorable kitten face with golden eyes, a dusting of white on her muzzle/chin, a brown velvet nose, and long white whiskers. This little dollbaby has a sweet, playful disposition and a 'Type A' outgoing personality. Pancake is good with other cats and also with children. Pancake was given vaccinations and Pyrtantel dewormer on July 26th. She was given booster vaccines August 15th 2026. Maple was separated recently from her kittens since they were fully weaned. So mother Maple is enjoying some quiet, peaceful relaxation while resting on her laurels after being the most perfect momma to her youngsters. Pancake and her sisters (Bacon and Waffle) are currently enjoying their own 'apartment' (a double-wide cage in The Jungle Room). Their brother (Bagel) has an approved adoption pending and is enjoying a temporary home with his new family while he awaits his neuter procedure. These photos of Pancake were taken late in the afternoon on September 4th 2026 while she pussyfooted around our 'studio' and enjoyed out-of-cage time. Pancake was in the height of her glory while she explored the 'pumpkin patch' and paused occasionally for her glamour pictures. Pancake weighed 2.98 lbs that day. Pancake will be spayed in the near future (tentatively on September 14th) and will soon be interviewing candidates to be her new family. Naturally we'd love to see her adopted with one (or both) of her sisters.

Story

Eleanor is a beautiful 10-year old female kitty who was surrendered by her owner on August 28, 2026 along with her sibling (Margaret). These girls' owner loved them very much and was very sad/upset to have to return them to our shelter due to a change in the family's residence. Both Eleanor and Margaret had been adopted from HSOV as young kittens and this was the only home they'd ever known. This sweet lady has a buff shorthaired coat in a tabby pattern, a long ringed tail, and an adorable chubby face with golden eyes, a pink nose, and long white whiskers. Eleanor was given vaccinations and Pyrantel dewormer on August 31st. She weighed 6.6 lbs when she entered our shelter. Eleanor has a friendly, rather shy, disposition. She surely misses the familiarity and peace/quiet of her home after her whole world was turned upside down. Eleanor is good with children but she is not fond of other cats. We don't know yet how she feels about dogs. These photos of Eleanor were taken on August 31st and September 7th. She was a very sad, frightened little lady being in small cage when she had been accustomed to the freedom of her own home for the past ten years .. And we totally understood her feelings. Eleanor is now in a much larger cage in The Jungle Room and is beginning to realize that she is in good hands with our compassionate feline kennel techs. Since Eleanor has already been spayed, she could leave our shelter immediately with an approved HSOV adoption application. We would love to see Eleanor back in a nice home environment so she didn't have to spend many days in a small shelter cage.
