Story
Meet Persia! This beautiful two-year-old calico is equal parts sweet and stunning. Persia came to us as a stray, so her story before the shelter is a mystery — but it hasn't taken long for her true personality to shine through. She loves attention and is quick to lean into a good petting session once she feels comfortable. As with many cats who've spent time on their own, Persia will need a little patience as she finds her footing in a new home. She's not the type to walk in and immediately own the place, but given a gentle introduction and some time to settle in, we believe she has the potential to get along with cats, dogs, and even children. The key with Persia is simply slowing down and letting her set the pace — and trust us, the payoff is absolutely worth it. Persia is the kind of cat who will blossom into a devoted companion for the right family. If you have a little extra love and patience to offer, she is ready to soak it all up and give it right back. Ready to let Persia write her next chapter with you? Come say hello!

Story
Jaxon and Teddy Bear are a feline pair who came to CVHS when their owner went into a nursing home. Being older gentlemen, they seek a calmer home to live out their golden years. Relatives who knew these felines were unable to take them in as these cats do not want to live with dogs. Both boys can be bashful, and move about their colony room quickly and stealthily. They are only familiar being indoors-only, and have not been exposed to other felines, canines or children. Based on their personalities we have seen here; they would appreciate a home free of dogs and children. We believe with proper introduction, they could live with another senior feline like themselves, and we do feel they would enjoy going into a home together.

Not good with kids,
Story
Meet Tux! This dapper gentleman is as classic as his coat — and just as sophisticated. Tux came to us as a stray with a bit of a wild side; he was actually headed for our TNR program until staff discovered he has a soft spot for a gentle hand. Turns out, beneath that independent exterior is a cat who appreciates a good pet on his own terms. At 5 years old, Tux knows exactly who he is and what he wants — and he'd love nothing more than to spend his days lounging in a quiet home where life moves at a relaxed pace. He's not one for chaos or commotion, which means he'd thrive best without young children in the home. He may be open to sharing his space with another calm, laid-back cat or a confident, easygoing dog, as long as everyone respects his boundaries. Tux is looking for his perfect match — ideally a patient single person or couple who will give him the space to decompress, settle in on his own timeline, and eventually show them just how charming he can be. If you're looking for a low-key companion to share quiet evenings with, Tux just might be your guy. Could you be the calm in Tux's world? Come meet him today!

Story
star patch of white, golden eyes"We're so excited you're interested in adopting a new furry friend! To help us find the perfect match for you and our animals, we're pre-approving applicants. Here's how it works:Please start by filling out our adoption application: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=rz1556&method=online_form_html&formid=6This helps us learn more about you, including which animal you're interested in, your family, any other pets you have, your living situation (owning or renting), and your veterinarian. We understand that if you don't currently have pets, you won't have a vet reference. In that case, we kindly ask for a personal reference instead. Why we ask these questions:We want to make sure we find the best possible fit for both you and the animal. For renters, we need to confirm with your landlord that pets are allowed, as unfortunately, many landlords in Franklin County have restrictions.Checking with your veterinarian helps us ensure that our animals receive the ongoing medical care they deserve. What happens next:Once we receive positive references from your landlord (if applicable) and veterinarian (or personal reference), we'll contact you to schedule an appointment if you're interested in adopting a dog.If you're looking for a feline friend, you're welcome to come in anytime during our open hours!Important information:Adoptions are on a first-come, first-served basis, based on the date your application is approved. We're truly grateful for the overwhelming interest in our animals! Our staff is working diligently to approve applications as quickly as possible. While it may take a few days, most applications are approved sooner.Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to find loving homes for our wonderful animals!"
