Story
I adopted Millie from Arizona. She was a year old at that time. So she is 8 years old now. Millie has been a good kitty, not always looking for attention and coming to sit on your lap at her discretion. She does not like to be picked up.. She is also an indoor/outdoor cat, and would not be happy staying indoors all the time. She might be a hunter, but I live near the woods and she has never brought me anything that she has killed, and is always hungry when she comes inside, so I assume she doesn't kill and eat anything. Millie is sweet, but very much a cat wanting her own way. Recently she has wanted to go in and out regularly, scratching on my furniture if I don't notice her at the door. That is the way she signals me that she wants something. She has a small cat tree with some scratching posts, but maybe would do better with a larger one. I have enjoyed my 80th birthday, and also have a dog. So I want to insure that Millie has a good longer-term home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.POPPY-Jean, her sister and friends, arrived at Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on Friday 26 June 2026 from our partner shelter in Texas. We post our available pets across the east coast and Canada and welcome applications from anywhere on the understanding that approved families must be prepared to travel  to the rescue in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine to meet and take home their new best friend. We Will Be Actively Looking to Adopt Kittens in Pairs Health & Background Estimated Date of Birth: 6 April 2026 ✅ SPAYED ✅ NWS Transport Protocol: Credelio CAT and Capstar administered orally prior to transport from a New World Screwworm (NWS) affected area. ✅ FIV Test (SNAP): Negative ✅ FeLV Test (SNAP): Negative ✅ Eclipse 4 (FVRCP+C) Vaccination: Protects against Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (Herpesvirus-1), Feline Calicivirus, Feline Panleukopenia (Feline Distemper), and Chlamydia felis. Rabies Vaccine: Too young to receive. ✅ Microchipped with 24PetWatch and registered with the Free Pet Chip Registry. ⚖️ Weight: 18 July 2026 - 4.8 pounds Why We Will Be Actively Looking to Adopt Kittens in Pairs We will be actively looking to place kittens in pairs whenever possible, as animal behavior experts and feline welfare organizations consistently recognize that kittens develop better socially, emotionally, and behaviorally when they grow up with a feline companion of a similar age. Benefits of adopting two kittens together: Built-in playmate: Kittens have endless energy. A companion provides a healthy outlet for wrestling, chasing, and play, helping to redirect natural hunting instincts and play aggression away from people, furniture, and household items. Teaches bite inhibition and boundaries: Through play and wrestling, kittens learn how to control the force of their bites and scratches. When one kitten plays too rough, the other responds immediately, teaching important social limits that humans cannot easily replicate. Faster learning and social development: Kittens learn by watching each other. They often develop appropriate grooming habits, litter box skills, confidence, and social behaviors more quickly when raised with a companion. Reduces loneliness and stress: Kittens thrive on interaction and stimulation. Having a bonded companion provides comfort, companionship, and security, especially when family members are at work, school, or away from home. Helps prevent boredom and destructive behavior: Two kittens are far more likely to keep each other entertained, reducing the chances of unwanted behaviors that can result from boredom, frustration, or excess energy. Provides lifelong companionship: Many kittens form strong bonds with their feline companions, giving them a source of friendship, comfort, and enrichment throughout their lives. While every kitten and family situation is unique, adopting a pair often creates a happier, healthier, and better-adjusted outcome for both the kittens and their adopters.  Our adoption fee's are $250 per kitten or $400 for two. We prefer for our young kittens to go to families who have other young kittens/cats so they can thrive and learn cat behaviour. We understand this is not always possible and it doesn't mean an instant application denial, it is just our preference. Story
Shadow is still a teenager. She still jumps and runs through the house like a kid, but she's about 20yrs old. She's needs more than I can provide. Though she acts young i know she should get a check up. Problem is she's not been out of the house in 11yrs and she refuses to get into the pet carrier. Im a retired person and I can't keep up with the constant attention that a cat of her age needs.I feel she's got many good years ahead of her in the right hands. She needs better more experienced folk around her. She's adorable when asking to be feed by saying "Hello" I love her and I want her to get the attention she needs.

Story
Meeka is a sweet and charming senior kitty, around 12 years old, who has mastered the art of being the purrfect companion. She's friendly and social without being demanding. You'll often find her snoozing contentedly at the foot of the bed, and unlike some cats, she's considerate enough to let you sleep in rather than demanding breakfast at dawn! Meeka does best with adults and older children, around age 9 and up. She's a cat who appreciates having her personal space respected and isn't a fan of being carried around like a rag doll. That said, she's patient and tolerant, making her a wonderful companion for respectful, cat-savvy kids. When Meeka first arrives in a new home, she will seek out a secret hiding spot given the chance. It's best to provide a safe space, giving her time to adjust, and when she's ready, she'll explore her surroundings and get to know her new family. Meeka isn't an overly playful cat, but she's still a cat and you'll have fun discovering what toys bring out the hunter in her. She's a lovely girl and her calm presence will bring a lightness to your home. If you're looking for a friendly, easy-going family kitty who enjoys human company, Meeka could be your match! Complete an adoption application at queencitycatsvt.org if you'd like to meet her.
