Story
Meet Starry — a handsome long-haired black cat with a soft, fluffy coat and a very independent personality. ????Starry is not suited for a traditional indoor home and would do best as a barn or shop cat where he can have his own space and minimal handling. While he is generally calm and keeps to himself, he can occasionally bite if he feels uncomfortable or pressured, so he’s looking for a place where he can live more independently.Starry enjoys having a cozy place to hide and relax while observing the world around him. He doesn’t seek out much human attention, but he does appreciate having a safe place to call home.Starry is not a hunting or working cat—he will still need to be fed daily and provided with fresh water and shelter. A barn, shop, warehouse, or similar setting where he can live comfortably without being expected to interact closely with people would be ideal. If you have a safe outdoor structure and are willing to provide food, water, and shelter for a cat who prefers his independence, Starry could be a great fit for your property. If you have a calm household and a kind heart, Starry may be the perfect addition to your home. This pet is available for adoption at the Ellensburg Humane Society If you recognize this animal, please contact the adoption center at 509-925-7387 Ready to adopt? Story
Cats are one of the most effective, affordable, and environmentally friendly ways to manage pests.Barn cats, also called feral cats, are domestic cats—usually mixed breed—that live primarily outdoors in a feral or semi-feral state on agricultural properties, often finding shelter in barns or outbuildings.Adopters must provide shelter, food, water, and veterinary care. Suitable locations include barns, outbuildings, factories, or warehouses. All barn cats are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped.If you’re interested in adopting a barn cat, please complete our adoption questionnaire, and a member of our adoption team will reach out to you!*Cats pictured are not available*

Story
Meet Sasha!Sasha is a beautiful tabby girl with a gentle soul and a heart full of potential. She came in as a stray, so new people and unfamiliar situations can make her a bit timid at first. With a little patience and kindness, though, her sweet nature begins to shine.Once Sasha feels safe, she shows just how loving she can be. She enjoys quiet companionship, soft voices, and gentle interactions, and she blossoms in an environment where she’s given the time to build trust at her own pace. Beneath her shy exterior is a truly sweet cat who wants nothing more than a place to belong.Sasha has all the makings of a wonderful companion for someone willing to let her settle in and grow confident. With love and understanding, she has the potential to become a fantastic cat and a cherished member of the family.

Story
Meet Chilli!Chilli came to us as a stray from the City of Yakima and needed a little extra TLC when she first arrived. After some care and time to recover, she’s now healthy, spayed, and ready to find a loving forever home.Chilli can be a bit reserved at first and may take a little time to feel comfortable in a new environment. Once she settles in and feels safe, her gentle personality starts to shine through. She would likely do best with a patient adopter who will give her the time she needs to adjust and build confidence. One of Chilli’s most striking features is her gorgeous black coat paired with the coolest whitish-gray tail. This unique coloring is sometimes called a “fever coat,” but since it hasn’t shed out yet, she may just keep her beautifully unusual look. Either way, it makes her truly one of a kind.If you’re looking for a unique and sweet young cat who just needs a little patience to blossom, Chilli may be the perfect match for you. This pet is available for adoption at the Yakima Humane Society adoption center. Story
We adopted Minnie from a shelter when she was almost a year old. She’s 4 now. She’s very affectionate and loves pets from owners and visiting houseguests. When she’s not asking for pets, she’s sleeping. She currently lives with dogs and one other cat and gets along with them all. Currently and has always been an inside cat. Have vet records. Needs to go to someone who has more time and attention for the cat. No issues, just no longer have the capacity for a cat.
