She was adopted through Wag On Inn a few years ago, but her family circumstances have changed and she needs a new home. Dolly is timid and can be anxious with new people but she is so sweet once you earn her trust. She is eager to please and loves attention.  She also loves belly rubs and snuggles. She is good on leash and in the car. She is also very smart and knows lots of commands. Dolly has been around kids her whole life and she is cat friendly! Dolly does have some resource guarding tendencies, so would do best with older kids. She does prefer to be the only dog in the home. Dolly has been fixed, microchipped and she is up to date on vaccines. Dolly does have some anxiety which is being managed with medication. Her adoption fee is $450.  How to Adopt Me! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Jesse is a handsome pup who is looking for a home. Jesse is with our rescue partner in Louisiana but heading to NJ on 11/15. Pictures don't do this handsome boy justice.   Jesse has the personality of a lab but the colors of a catahoula/german short-haired pointer, he's just stunning, especially in the sunlight. Since being in the shelter his real personality has started to shine.  Jesse is a playful dog, around 3 years old and 60 pounds. He loves to run around in the fenced yard but can also soak up country life while getting scratches. He's loveable and shows it by hugging you, he puts his legs around your hips while enjoying getting pets. He's good with other dogs and will give small corrections if a dog is "too much".  After a little growl he goes right back to playing. He would do best with a dog that is not that high energy so he can level.  He's good with both big and small dogs.  Jesse is also good with kids of all ages but he does like to hug so watch out for the little ones.  Jesse knows basic commands already, sit, down heel and come.  This sweet boy would love a home that takes him on walks/hikes and spends time playing with him.  Jesse is almost 100% housetrained, he is working on getting there.  Whoever adopts Jesse will have a loyal dog who asks for nothing but love and attention. . Jesse is fixed and up to date on vaccines. Jesse has started treatment for heartworm and can come to NJ once treatment is complete or can complete his treatment in NJ if we find a loving foster or adopter to help him through it. His adoption fee is $450.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training   prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me! If you are interested in learning more about me, and possibly making me part of your family, please go to wagoninn.rescuegroups.org. Click on the orange  Online Adoption Application  button to fill out an application. A Wag On Inn volunteer will be in touch soon! With kindness and patience, I know I’ll blossom into the most loyal and loving companion. Story
CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ: Whoa, who’s that gorgeous light merle new cutie? It’s the playful and loving young Harlem! (previously known as Leonardo at the shelter, lovingly dubbed Harlem by his fosters) Sweet boy Harlem is only 1 year old and weighs 60 lbs. He has a rare light merle coloring that makes him stand out, but this good boy also has an outstanding personality! He is friendly and outgoing, greeting everyone he can – and climbing into laps if he can, too! Harlem is a sweet boy who does happy zoomies and enthusiastically plays with his toys. Harlem bonds deeply to his people and looks to them for comfort. Poor Harlem was originally found as a stray and although he suffered from kennel stress in the shelter, he was otherwise a very good boy. With how loving he is and how good at giving kisses, it is no wonder Harlem steals hearts wherever he goes! Harlem absolutely adores his fosters, wanting to be by their side and can tend to be a "velcro dog" so he is all about being your best friend! Being a young guy, Harlem has a higher energy level, so he loves to go for walks and play outside. He is dog friendly, currently living with multiple other dogs but will need proper intros, of course. Harlem is so excited to begin his second chance at life! Could that life be with you, as a loyal (and handsome) companion? Harlem is neutered, fully vetted, microchipped and ready to be adopted! Please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 (text ok) or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt dear Harlem at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Story
Champagne - 13 weeks & 15lbs (as of 10/4), Catahoula Mix, SpayedExpected to be around 45lbs full grown  This puppy is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  Potty trained?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  Crate trained?Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. Social with dogs?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  Social with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   Social with cats?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  Mouthy play: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. Leash manners:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   Separation anxiety:MEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. Medical status:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon How this dog ended up with Social Tees:Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee or St. Thomas. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. Story
Meet Piddle! Piddle is a 1-year-old, 36 lb Aussie mix with a gorgeous merle coat and the cutest little nub tail. She’s full of personality, energy, and love — the kind of dog who makes every day more fun. Still very much a puppy at heart, Piddle loves to play, explore, and be around her people. She’s a social butterfly who enjoys meeting other dogs and absolutely adores attention (personal space isn’t really in her vocabulary yet!). She’s smart and eager to please, already learning commands like sit and working on her leash manners. She’s also house trained, sleeps soundly through the night, and loves treats — which makes training easier and fun. Piddle would thrive in an active home with another playful dog or an adopter who can give her plenty of exercise and engagement. With her big heart, goofy charm, and endless affection, Piddle is ready to bring joy, laughter, and love to her forever family If you would like to adopt this dog, please visit email rescue@pupstarzrescue.org or visit www.pupstarzrescue.org for an application!
