Story
Here is "Celina", a very cute little Chihuahua. Celina is about 3 years old and she weighs between 12 to 15 pounds. Celina originally came to us a year ago and she was adopted in 1 week! Celina came to us at that time because her owners were told by their landlord that they could not have any pets so, unfortunately, they had to give Celina up. Well, now a year later, Celina had to come back to us because, sad to say, her owner has Stage 4 cancer and cannot take care of Celina any longer. Needless to say, Celina's owner is heartbroken. Celina is too. Now poor Celina is looking for another home. What a great dog Celina is. She is just super. She is so friendly and so loving. She wants to be with you all the time. She just wants to "cling" to you! Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Celina again will be getting and will have the best dog in the world! Celina is spayed, her shots are up to date and she is negative for heartworm. You MUST own your own home. You MUST own your own condo. Absolutely no apartments. Children must be 6 years old or older. To adopt from us, you MUST have a veterinarian reference in your own name. We will not place any animal without a veterinarian reference. We get a veterinarian reference from your veterinarian which is a history of medical care administered by your veterinarian to your present or previous pet or pets. Please do not contact us if you cannot abide by our adoption rules. The adoption fee for Celina is $250.00. No credit cards. If you are interested in Celina, please email us at feline55keeper@gmail.com. Celina can be seen by appointment only. Celina will be waiting for you to take her home! She knows she will make you very happy! IT IS IMPORTANT THAT WE STRESS THAT IN ORDER TO ADOPT FROM US, YOU MUST HAVE A VETERINARIAN REFERENCE...NO EXCEPTIONS!

Story
Meet Ezra, the 12lb bundle of joy who's more like a rabbit than a dog! This adorable neutered Chihuahua loves to hop around when he runs, bringing a smile to everyone's face. Despite his small size, Ezra has a big personality and loves making new friends, although he can be a bit of a scaredy-cat around some dogs. Don't worry, he's learning to be brave!  This lovable boy is medically up to date, crate trained, housebroken, and practicing his leash manners!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs.  We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted.  As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2401082##

Story
Meet Ribbon, a sweet 6 year old female chihuahua! Ribbon was rescued from a hoarding case in east TN when she was pregnant, and she and 9 other chihuahuas were taken in by Paws Rescue League. Ribbon gave birth to 7 babies on Christmas Day, 12/25/2024. Sadly, they were born premature and only one (Tinsel) survived. Ribbon's milk never came in, so Tinsel was raised by her "auntie" Crystal, who delivered her pups one week later. Ribbon is now ready to find her furever home!  Ribbon is a shy, nervous girl who takes time to warm up to new people. She will need someone to be patient with her and allow her to come to them on her own terms, as she decompresses and learns to trust. She is good with other dogs, not cat tested but we assume she would be fine with cats. Due to her shyness, we recommend older kids 8+ who know to respect a dog's space (or no kids). Ribbon is medically up to date (will be spayed prior to adoption), pee pad trained, and working on outdoor housebreaking. Apply to meet this darling girl today!  Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. Story
Come see JoJo at The River Lane, 7 Main Street, Essex, CT on June 28th and 29th, from 11:00am to 4:00pm. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ANY OF OUR DOGS PLEASE APPLY ONLINE IMMEDIATELY. See www.godogdays.org for details. Here is more information about me: GENERAL BEHAVIOR AND IDEAL HOME: Most rescues will not adopt out dogs, including puppies, to families with children under the age of 6 years old. Rescues will not allow dogs or puppies to go to homes where they will be crated during the full work day. The rescue has noticed this dog is generally good with dogs. However dogs, like people, act differently in different settings and a new adopter should expect there will be an adjustment period of time before before the dog settles in to a new home. At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. GENERAL VETERINARY CARE: I have been ~ spayed/neutered ~ microchipped ~ dewormed ~ heartworm-tested negative if dog is of age to be tested ( 6 months or older) ~ up to date on all age appropriate shots ~ treated with a flea preventative ADOPTION FEES Rescues participating in our events are not allowed to charge more than $450 an adoption fee and some adoption fees are much less - it depends on what the rescue chooses to charge - Dog Days does not take any portion of the adoption fees. ONLINE ADOPTION APPLICATION FORM: https://redletterbusiness.wufoo.com/forms/find-my-new-best-friend/ (Copy and paste to browser.) ADOPTION PROCESS - Before the Event If you would like to begin the application process, please fill in the form at the link above and we will review your information, call your personal and well as vet references. PLEASE Fill in the application if you're interested in adoption, this will save you time at the event. We hope you will understand the careful scrutiny of potential adopters is not only for the safety and well-being of the dog but also for a positive experience for your household. Thank you for saving the life of a shelter dog through adoption; you are truly a hero. -- A letter from your vet on their letterhead will also be very helpful if they won't be open for us to call as a reference. -- If you are renting, please note you must have a written letter of permission from your landlord to own a dog on their property. Dog Days will be conducting interviews of prospective adopters. -- If you have never owned a dog and therefore do not have a vet reference let us know right away and we'll try to do a home visit before the adoption weekend. First time adopters need a quick home visit to make sure they are ready to take a dog home for the first time. ADOPTION PROCESS - During the Event Weekend -- Plan on spending at least three to four hours going through the adoption process. We want you to be completely confident in your new pal so we will ask you to speak to a trainer, a veterinarian as well as interview with a member of our adoption team and the rescue. -- As a policy, Dog Days will not hold dogs for potential adopters so it is important to come to the event by 11:00am Saturday morning if you have your heart set on a particular dog. -- PLEASE NOTE THAT DOGS ARE GIVEN TO THE BEST HOME, NOT FIRST IN LINE. -- At this time we ONLY adopt to residents of the state of Connecticut who live no more than one hour from the event site. Each dog and puppy has been seen by a Connecticut veterinarian who will also be on site to answer any questions you may have. We'll have professional groomers on site to give your new pal a bath before you take them home (no charge) and our adoption bags will give you information and samples for use at home. See www.godogdays.org for details.
