Story
Meet Peanut — tiny, mighty, and just the right amount of mischief At just 4 months old, Peanut is a Chihuahua mix (we’re guessing there’s a little terrier sparkle in there too!) with a personality way bigger than her size. She’s the perfect blend of sweet and spunky—what we like to call “nice with a dash of naughty.” Peanut is already about 99% potty trained (yes, really!) and does wonderfully in her kennel. She’s a smart little cookie who’s catching on quickly to routines and would thrive in a home ready to keep building on her success. Now, let’s talk about her fan club—because Peanut has one. When her foster went to pick her up from the vet, the staff actually asked if they could keep her a little longer… just so they could spend more time with her. (We can’t blame them.) The team at the shelter she came from was just as smitten—this girl has a way of winning hearts wherever she goes. She’s also a social butterfly with other dogs. Case in point: she met the neighbor’s Golden Retriever, gave one confident little “woof,” and just like that—they were best friends. No drama, no fuss, just instant friendship. Despite her playful side, Peanut isn’t overly vocal, which makes her a great candidate for homes with shared walls. And as if she wasn’t cute enough already, her ears have recently decided to stand up tall and pointy—giving her a permanently curious, “I’m listening…” look that’s impossible to resist. If you’re looking for a pup who will make you laugh, keep you on your toes (in the best way), and then curl up and melt your heart, Peanut might just be your perfect match. Apply to meet Peanut today—you might want to clear your schedule though… people tend to ask for “just a little more time” with her   WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue, which means all of our pets are cared for in homes throughout Minnesota.  Foster Home Pets: Meet & greets are scheduled after an approved adoption application Cats at The PURRfect Match Adoption Center (Andover, MN): Some cats may be available to meet during open hours Please visit our website for the most accurate information on this pet and next steps. Story
Meet Lady! She's apx 10 years old and traveled a long ways to MN. She came to Legends in Early October, and we're learning more about her each day. So far, she's been great with dogs, cats, and all humans that she's met. She is coming out of her shell each day as she decompresses and starts to show us her personality. She likes to follow her people around the house and is loving beds and couches! Lady is a gentle senior looking to spend her golden years in comfort. She's food motivated and curious. She's already started trying out sweaters as we anticipate MN winters to be quite the adjustment! Medical stuff: She recently had a dental, and is noted to have a very mild heart murmur. Medication is not required for it at this time. We've got her on a joint supplement for some probable arthritis, and she also has a sensitive trachea and will cough occasionally, but otherwise is a healthy older lady! *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment. Apply to adopt here: https://www.legendssenioranimalrescue.org/our-forms-2 Apply to foster here: https://www.legendssenioranimalrescue.org/foster-application All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment. You can contact us through our website at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/contact/ or visit our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LegendsRescue/ if you have further questions or would like to schedule a meet and greet. FOSTER CARE: Our rescues are fostered in individual homes or at our facility. We work hard to ensure that our rescues have a supportive family while at foster homes to help them move forward and get ready for their forever home. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before an animal is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Your donation will help with our care and pay for medical costs. Story
Meet Chippy! He is a 20lb 6 year old Chihuahua mix. This sweetheart was dumped outside of a PetSmart in a kennel in North Carolina. From his foster: October update: Chippy is a very good boy- quiet and gentle! He's experienced some trauma in his early life but is learning to trust, come out of his shell, and live his best life. When the weather is nice he loves to relax in the sun, take a walk with his stroller, and meet new dogs in the neighborhood or dog park. Chippy is very food motivated and gets super excited at meal time and when he can earn treats. Chippy is great with other dogs, cats, and children. August Update: He is very calm, a little timid and we have not heard a single bark out of him. He loves to snuggle, has a good appetite and enjoys prancing around the yard finding treats we put out for him. He has a passing interested in cats but no chasing instinct. He doesn't seem to have experience with stairs so we are approaching that slowly. He likes balls and will fetch!! He had a couple accidents through the transition but is getting into the swing of things. We are currently working on leash walking. He likes to be active in the yard and is starting to let loose but wants to be a very good boy. Easy to train with treats. He seems to match the energy level with the rest of us, relaxing when we need to work from home and getting excited for walks or backyard time. *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment. Story
Lily comes into rescue from a recent breeder release transport. She likely spent her life in a kennel so every day things are all brand new to her. Even with this unknown past, she is very brave and slowly, at her own pace, experiencing all these new things. After a couple of days, she was ready to begin exploring around the house. As she became more comfortable, her confidence grew. Once the weather got a little warmer, I started to take her outside to go potty. We are still working on potty training, but she is doing well. Outside is a big scary place with so many things that are new to her. Every day, she shows just how resilient she is, expanding her area to beyond my yard enjoying all the smells. Lily has adjusted well to a collar, harness and leash. Lily is initially shy and timid but has come to love being held, getting pets, belly rubs and ear scratches. In return, she will give kisses and loves to snuggle in your lap. Lily gets very excited when it is mealtime. She really shows her personality when I am preparing her food. It is so rewarding to see her tail wagging more. She loves to be held and be near her person. When I need to go out, Lily is kenneled. She does very well keeping her kennel clean and is quiet. In the beginning, I kenneled her at night. She would whimper a bit but settled quickly. She has now graduated to sleeping in the bed with me. Lily sleeps through the night snuggled close to me. Lily is looking for a quiet home to spend her golden years. She would probably do well with older, respectful children. Younger kids may be a bit much for her. Currently, she has not met another dog while in foster care. Her current foster home is very quiet where she gets all the attention.

Story
McGee is a young male Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a small, athletic body. He is friendly with all humans and gets along well with other dogs, especially when he has a chance to play and burn off energy. Cats are not a fit for him, so he is looking for a cat-free home. He is leash trained, does well in the car, and loves toys, fetch, and anything he can proudly carry back to his bed. McGee is also a certified cuddle bug who loves nothing more than sitting in his foster dad’s lap, especially while watching baseball and “following” the game right along. McGee has a playful, goofy side and enjoys collecting his treasures. He often gathers his stuffies and bones and carefully moves them into his bed, sometimes borrowing extras from other dogs in the home. He does not guard them, he simply enjoys organizing his own little collection. He thrives in a home where he can run, play, and interact with other dogs, and he especially enjoys romping with smaller playmates. This boy has bursts of high energy followed by calm, relaxed downtime. He is athletic, fast, and loves to climb and explore, so he will need supervision and boundaries around furniture surfing. He would likely excel in an active home or even an agility class, where he can put his speed, intelligence, and enthusiasm to good use. McGee is still working on potty training and has not yet learned to reliably signal when he needs to go outside. Crate training is his biggest challenge, as he prefers to be near his people. He can be vocal when excited, when people arrive, or when other dogs are barking, but he is responsive and eager to learn with guidance. He is affectionate, gentle, and full of love, with a funny, endearing personality that makes him unforgettable. McGee is happiest when he is included, engaged, and part of the action. McGee is looking for an active, patient home ready to enjoy a clever, energetic companion who will keep life entertaining, active, and full of affection. McGee is from Texas.

Story
Coleman is a lively pup with a big personality and bigger hops. He’s great with kids, dogs, and cats, making him a fantastic addition to an active, fun-loving household. This energetic boy loves to run, play, and be part of the action… especially when kids are involved! He’s also quite the “talker,” always ready to share his thoughts and excitement with you. Coleman is mostly potty trained and just needs a bit of consistency to finish mastering it. He would thrive in an active home with people who enjoy the outdoors and can keep up with his high energy. He’s come a long way, after a rough start in a Texas shelter where he had a broken leg and pneumonia, Coleman has fully recovered and is now healthy, strong, and ready for his fresh start. If you’re looking for a resilient, playful companion who will keep you moving and laughing, Coleman could be the one for your family! Coleman is from Texas. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*
