My name is Mister Rogers, but foster mom calls me Roger-Dodger. My momma (Henrietta) had us in Mexico, and I made it all the way to MN with my mom and two brothers when we were three weeks old. Foster mom describes me as silly, a little shy, and curious….and a really good eater! What you will first notice about me is that I am the best behaved in my litter…and I have learned how to be patient :) I look the most like mom, and my big soulful eyes make me look sad sometimes, but I’m not! I like the resident dogs (3 big resident dogs) in my foster home but haven’t had too much interaction with them as I am still pretty small. While my siblings have their favorite, my favorite is still momma Henrietta. But, with the resident dogs, we give each other kisses through the pen, and I run around with them inside the house a few times a day (too cold for me to be outside these days!). I play with my brothers and mom though, and that keeps me busy. As a puppy, I am getting used to so many new things! Foster mom introduces new toys and things everyday, like things that make different noises, or things that move…everyday is an adventure. I am also getting used to new sounds, as the music piped into my area includes daily household and outdoor sounds, and this makes the world far less scary! I am teething, so teething toys are my favorite, especially the ones you freeze. Other favorites are frozen chunks of watermelon and blueberries. For regular treats…my favorite are Honey Nut Cheerios! I enjoy stealing moms jerky treats and really like the Churu bites. Training treats are fun, especially when they are in a puzzle toy. I love toys…my favorite is probably a used water bottle (label and cap removed).  Are you the family for me? Maybe you have a kid or dog who needs a dog? I always have the sweetest look with my big puppy eyes and am always attentive to the human. Foster mom says that she can tell that I just want to please the humans…get the cuddles…and eat all the food! I would do great with any family, with or without kids, with or without other dogs. Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed! Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption.   The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. My name is Henrietta Pussycat, mommy to the Mister Rogers Litter of 3. I was found as a stray in Mexico and made my way to MN with three beautiful baby boys. I always have a smile on my face for you and want to just cuddle with my humans more than anything else (and get all the belly rubs). My bug eyes make me look like I’m always a little surprised…and maybe I am…but I just feel lucky to be here.  I am potty trained and haven’t had any accidents in the house (and in the severe cold I use potty pads). I am good in a kennel or pen, and really like having my own “space.” When I first meet you, I might be a little shy or timid, but with trust, treats and tail waggin’ pets, I will definitely come to you for all the love. I definitely would do best with a family with some patience to allow me time to figure things out and gain the confidence I am working towards. For that reason, older considerate children would be best.  I would be perfectly happy being the only dog and getting all the attention. Although I do love the female dogs in my foster home, especially the Great Pyrenees.   I am learning to be a “pet” dog. I don’t fully understand toys yet but have been working on puzzle toys with my babies, and have been “caught” engaging with toys by my human. I like meal toppers on my food…like many of my chi-buddies, I am a little picky with my food. I really like a wet food pate mixed with my kibble, or shredded mozzarella. Surprisingly….not a huge fan of peanut butter. I love treats though…mostly chicken tendons and jerkys as well as biscuits. Oh…and the whipped cream pup cup gets me every time! I am very treat motivated, and have been learning a few basic obedience things…but mostly we have been working on building confidence. I am learning to wait for treats to take them more gently. I am very attentive to my human and am good at following her directions while training. She says I am very smart and could become my best doggy self with a patient human. Are you the family for me? I always have a happy face for my human and just love to be near you! Belly rubs are my absolute favorite! Foster mom says that she can tell that I just want to please the humans…get the cuddles…and eat all the treats! I would do great with any family who wants to help train me to be my best self. I would be ok being the only dog in the household and soak up all the love for myself! Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed! Story
Meet Charlie! He's a spitfire Chihuahua ready for his golden years! He's been doing great with us so far, and is warming up quickly to people. He was likely mishandled by young children in the home, so teenagers and adults are a much better fit. Due to this, he's a little unsure of new folks handling him. He loves other dogs and cats and has really enjoys his 4-legged friends. He also LOVES rope toys, which is super funny for his little size! Charlie wants to do the right thing, but sometimes gets a little confused. If he's too unsure of something he may react out of fear- once he knows you, he's eager to please. For example, to get picked up or held he knows "up" and will line right up IF he's in the mood. If he doesn't want to be picked up, he will promptly go in the other direction. Charlie is SMART- but is still learning that new people are safe- he does have some puppy-like mouthy behaviors and is doing great redirecting that onto a toy- he loves to play tug! There's a lot of spunk left to discover, but he really enjoys relaxing and coexisting with folks. He's not afraid to take a nap on someone he just met! Charlie is a chihuahua through and through! He's just a senior looking to spend his golden years in comfort. He's food motivated and curious. Medical stuff: Charlie has patellar luxation in both rear legs, meaning the kneecap can move out of its normal position. Patellar luxation is a common disorder of small or toy breeds and is usually hereditary, although it can be caused by an injury. This dog has a grade 2 out of 4 patellar luxation in both the right and left rear legs, with grade 4 being a kneecap that is permanently out of position. Many dogs with patellar luxation will occasionally hold up the affected leg or limp when the patella luxates, but will recover quickly once the patella moves back into place. He has not had active symptoms since in the care of is foster in Mid-October. Charlie was noted to have a right-sided apical systolic heart murmur with the grade 3 out of 6, with grade 6 being the most severe. Medication has not been deemed necessary for him at this time. Charlie will need a dental cleaning with extractions in the future. Given he has a heart murmur, a cardiac work up will likely be recommended prior to a dental procedure to evaluate for anesthetic risks. *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment. Story
Meet Chippy! He is a 20lb 6 year old Chihuahua mix. This sweetheart was dumped outside of a PetSmart in a kennel in North Carolina. From his foster: October update: Chippy is a very good boy- quiet and gentle! He's experienced some trauma in his early life but is learning to trust, come out of his shell, and live his best life. When the weather is nice he loves to relax in the sun, take a walk with his stroller, and meet new dogs in the neighborhood or dog park. Chippy is very food motivated and gets super excited at meal time and when he can earn treats. Chippy is great with other dogs, cats, and children. August Update: He is very calm, a little timid and we have not heard a single bark out of him. He loves to snuggle, has a good appetite and enjoys prancing around the yard finding treats we put out for him. He has a passing interested in cats but no chasing instinct. He doesn't seem to have experience with stairs so we are approaching that slowly. He likes balls and will fetch!! He had a couple accidents through the transition but is getting into the swing of things. We are currently working on leash walking. He likes to be active in the yard and is starting to let loose but wants to be a very good boy. Easy to train with treats. He seems to match the energy level with the rest of us, relaxing when we need to work from home and getting excited for walks or backyard time. *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment. Story
Meet Lady! She's apx 10 years old and traveled a long ways to MN. She came to Legends in Early October, and we're learning more about her each day. So far, she's been great with dogs, cats, and all humans that she's met. She is coming out of her shell each day as she decompresses and starts to show us her personality. She likes to follow her people around the house and is loving beds and couches! Lady is a gentle senior looking to spend her golden years in comfort. She's food motivated and curious. She's already started trying out sweaters as we anticipate MN winters to be quite the adjustment! Medical stuff: She recently had a dental, and is noted to have a very mild heart murmur. Medication is not required for it at this time. We've got her on a joint supplement for some probable arthritis, and she also has a sensitive trachea and will cough occasionally, but otherwise is a healthy older lady! *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment.
