Story
Lily comes into rescue from a recent breeder release transport. She likely spent her life in a kennel so every day things are all brand new to her. Even with this unknown past, she is very brave and slowly, at her own pace, experiencing all these new things. After a couple of days, she was ready to begin exploring around the house. As she became more comfortable, her confidence grew. Once the weather got a little warmer, I started to take her outside to go potty. We are still working on potty training, but she is doing well. Outside is a big scary place with so many things that are new to her. Every day, she shows just how resilient she is, expanding her area to beyond my yard enjoying all the smells. Lily has adjusted well to a collar, harness and leash. Lily is initially shy and timid but has come to love being held, getting pets, belly rubs and ear scratches. In return, she will give kisses and loves to snuggle in your lap. Lily gets very excited when it is mealtime. She really shows her personality when I am preparing her food. It is so rewarding to see her tail wagging more. She loves to be held and be near her person. When I need to go out, Lily is kenneled. She does very well keeping her kennel clean and is quiet. In the beginning, I kenneled her at night. She would whimper a bit but settled quickly. She has now graduated to sleeping in the bed with me. Lily sleeps through the night snuggled close to me. Lily is looking for a quiet home to spend her golden years. She would probably do well with older, respectful children. Younger kids may be a bit much for her. Currently, she has not met another dog while in foster care. Her current foster home is very quiet where she gets all the attention.

Story
Meet McGee: The Elusive Girafuahua Narrated in your mind by Sir David Attenborough, please. In the wild and wonderful world of rescue dogs, there are many fascinating creatures. But few are as rare, as leggy, or as delightfully entertaining as the elusive Girafuahua. At first glance, McGee may appear to be a young Chihuahua/Jack Russell Terrier mix. But look closer. Notice the small athletic body. The impossibly long legs. The alert expression. The ability to stretch, perch, observe, and somehow know exactly what is happening on every counter, couch, toy pile, and human lap within range. Truly, nature is magnificent. McGee is friendly with humans and loves being part of the action. He enjoys toys, fetch, walks nicely on leash, and does well in the car. He is also an expert treasure collector. Stuffies, bones, and beloved toys may be carefully gathered and relocated to his bed, where he can admire his collection like a tiny museum curator with giraffe legs. Like many rare species, McGee has bursts of joyful energy followed by serious cuddle time. He loves to play, explore, and proudly carry his treasures, but he is equally happy settling into a lap with his favorite person. In his foster home, he has been known to sit with his foster dad and watch baseball, following the game with the focus and commitment of a seasoned commentator. McGee is doing well with potty training when kept on a consistent schedule. He has not fully mastered asking to go out yet, so a home that can continue a routine will help him be successful. He is smart, eager, and responsive with guidance. McGee can do well with other dogs, especially with proper introductions and playful companions. However, this long-legged gentleman takes his relationship with his people very seriously and can be a little possessive of them around other dogs. He will do best with adopters who can provide structure, boundaries, and gentle reminders that love is not a limited resource. Cats are not a good fit for McGee, so he is looking for a cat-free home. Because McGee is athletic, curious, and blessed with giraffe-like reach, he will need supervision around furniture and counters. He is not being naughty; he is simply conducting important field research from a higher vantage point. An active home, playtime, walks, and maybe even agility would be wonderful ways to keep his clever body and busy brain engaged. McGee is affectionate, goofy, clever, and unforgettable. He is looking for a patient, active home that will appreciate his big personality, his cuddly heart, and his rare Girafuahua charm. Adopt McGee, and prepare to share your life with one of nature’s most remarkable little long-legged wonders.

Story
Coleman is a lively pup with a big personality and bigger hops. He’s great with kids, dogs, and cats, making him a fantastic addition to an active, fun-loving household. This energetic boy loves to run, play, and be part of the action… especially when kids are involved! He’s also quite the “talker,” always ready to share his thoughts and excitement with you. Coleman is mostly potty trained and just needs a bit of consistency to finish mastering it. He would thrive in an active home with people who enjoy the outdoors and can keep up with his high energy. He’s come a long way, after a rough start in a Texas shelter where he had a broken leg and pneumonia, Coleman has fully recovered and is now healthy, strong, and ready for his fresh start. If you’re looking for a resilient, playful companion who will keep you moving and laughing, Coleman could be the one for your family! Coleman is from Texas. ---- *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. We cannot guarantee the breed or size they will be full grown.*
