Meet Lady! She's apx 10 years old and traveled a long ways to MN. She came to Legends in Early October, and we're learning more about her each day. So far, she's been great with dogs, cats, and all humans that she's met. She is coming out of her shell each day as she decompresses and starts to show us her personality. She likes to follow her people around the house and is loving beds and couches! Lady is a gentle senior looking to spend her golden years in comfort. She's food motivated and curious. She's already started trying out sweaters as we anticipate MN winters to be quite the adjustment! Medical stuff: She recently had a dental, and is noted to have a very mild heart murmur. Medication is not required for it at this time. We've got her on a joint supplement for some probable arthritis, and she also has a sensitive trachea and will cough occasionally, but otherwise is a healthy older lady! *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our adoptable animals can be seen by appointment. Meet Chippy! He is a 20lb 6 year old Chihuahua mix. This sweetheart was dumped outside of a PetSmart in a kennel in North Carolina. From his foster: October update: Chippy is a very good boy- quiet and gentle! He's experienced some trauma in his early life but is learning to trust, come out of his shell, and live his best life. When the weather is nice he loves to relax in the sun, take a walk with his stroller, and meet new dogs in the neighborhood or dog park. Chippy is very food motivated and gets super excited at meal time and when he can earn treats. Chippy is great with other dogs, cats, and children. August Update: He is very calm, a little timid and we have not heard a single bark out of him. He loves to snuggle, has a good appetite and enjoys prancing around the yard finding treats we put out for him. He has a passing interested in cats but no chasing instinct. He doesn't seem to have experience with stairs so we are approaching that slowly. He likes balls and will fetch!! He had a couple accidents through the transition but is getting into the swing of things. We are currently working on leash walking. He likes to be active in the yard and is starting to let loose but wants to be a very good boy. Easy to train with treats. Hello my name is Jacinta (Tina for short) and I’m looking for my perfect home! I’m a 5 year old, 11 pound little girl, with lots of love and attention to give. My favorite thing in the world is to cuddle up next to my humans on a comfy couch or chair, especially under the blanket. I love to be scratched on my face and head. I also enjoy a short play session of tossing a toy and getting some zoomies out. I’m pretty medium-low energy and don’t really require daily walking. Because I’m a little timid I sometimes like a walk but sometimes I get scared and don’t really want to go far from home. I think over time I could get more used to everything outside and might enjoy more of a walk. But only if it’s nice and warm out! I really don’t like the cold, rain, or snow. I may have a little harder time going potty outside when the weather is not my favorite. I could benefit from having a little covered area outside to potty under. I’m currently doing a great job of going potty outside on a consistent schedule, but schedule or location changes can cause some accidents. Something I’m great at, no matter the weather, is my kennel! I love having my own kennel area to go in and out of when I want. I do great sleeping quietly in my kennel when I’m home alone, even for extended periods like a work day. I’m also pretty quiet for a chihuahua, only barking when I see something out the window or hear other barking ! As far as other pets go I seem to be fine around cats, but I would probably do best with cats that are comfortable around dogs. I also do well around dogs my size but I prefer that they not get right up in my face. I haven’t met any kids yet but most likely I’d be a little scared around younger kids and would prefer older calmer kids . Also, I do pretty well in the car. Finally, I’ll admit I don’t have much obedience training. I could use maybe a class or some at home training if you’d like me to learn how to sit, stay, leash manners, etc. But so far this hasn’t really been an issue for my foster humans since I’m sweet as pie! Marzabean and her 4 young ones found themselves unwanted and in a high kill shelter in West Texas. They are good with other dogs, and people, and good with the dog savvy cats. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training to be successful.He recently arrived in MN so we are geting to know him. Here is what we have learned so far about him. Fenri is the sweetest, friendliest little guy around! He just LOVES all people and dogs! He's good with kids, dogs of all sizes, and even cats. Currently 6 months old and about 15 lbs, he'll likely be a smaller medium-sized dog with medium-level energy. He loves to be social, romp around and play, toss toys around, play fetch, and gently wrestle with doggy friends. He equally loves a good, long snuggle on the couch! There's no attitude here, just pure joy and doggie smiles! He is fully crate trained and goes potty outside or on puppy pads, though he's still working on the occasional accident.
