Story
Meet Roscoe, the Chihuahua Mix, a resilient and loving canine who has come a long way in just a few short months. Background:On July 10th, Roscoe, previously known as Spot, found himself in a kennel, overwhelmed by fear and confusion. Despite the good people providing him with food and toys, he struggled to trust them.Foster Journey:On September 2nd, Roscoe embarked on a journey of transformation. He left the shelter and moved to a foster home, where a single, dedicated female caregiver focused on helping him feel safe and rebuild trust. During this time, he received a new name, Roscoe, which he now responds to.Progress and Adventures:Roscoe quickly adapted to a leash and found joy in going on walks. He relished being picked up, snuggled, and kissed, while also displaying his playful side through activities like playing with toys and doing "zoomies" around the house. In the past three weeks, Roscoe has thrived and shown his fun, playful, and quirky personality. He participated in the Paws on the Trail Walk event for Arnell Humane Society, demonstrating excellent behavior around people and other dogs.Roscoe made friends with other small male and female dogs.He met the neighbor and allowed her to pet him, as well as playfully interacted with her small female dog.Roscoe had an adventurous car ride to a coffee shop, initially trembling but quickly adapting to the environment without being bothered by typical coffee shop sounds.During this outing, he reunited with a friend from the shelter, ran up to her, accepted treats, and sat on her lap.Afterward, Roscoe had a meet and greet with a large male dog, showing reactivity initially, but with patience and training, he improved his behavior.Current Status:In the five weeks that Roscoe has been in foster care, he has blossomed and grown more comfortable. However, he is still working on house-training, although he has shown progress by holding his potty overnight and sometimes during the day while the foster is at work.Roscoe's journey is one of resilience, trust-building, and growth. He's ready to find a loving forever home where he can continue to thrive with the support and care of a dedicated owner.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Hello, my name is Mocha and I'm an 11 lb Chiweenie with an approximate DOB of 7/19/2022 who was surrendered when my owner could no longer care for me. I have experience being around cats and small dogs, middle aged children, and environments where I'm the only animal. Whether I'm enjoying the smells of the outdoors, running around with kids, or playing and wrestling with my other friends, I can thrive and become your best companion...some may even call me your little shadow. A perfect day to me is being in your presence, curling up under a blanket, or cuddling with you in your lap and exchanging hugs and kisses.    Being that I'm still young, learning, and searching for my forever home, I could use your love and patience to help me continue to develop into one of the best dogs I can be. I love to be rewarded as I'm working to master my understanding of doing my business outside, but if any potential accidents are of concern to you, I'm fine wearing a belly band inside until I become a professional. With a consistent schedule, I've been continuing to improve. I am a nervous type on first impressions so if you have frequent guests or visitors, I promise to adapt if you can give me some time to establish my confidence and trust.     I should mention that I'm crate trained and have no issue spending time in there during the day, or sleeping the entire night...although, I'm not opposed to your bed either if there is room for me. I also don't mind if you can leave me with some cardboard, yes, cardboard, while in my crate or even playing around in general. I'm not sure who invented that stuff, but it sure is fun to shred apart and chew on. I also love fixing toys that apparently have a squeaking problem by getting that squeaker out for you so it stops making that noise.    Thank you for reading about me and checking out my pictures...maybe my next picture will be of the both of us! While I may only be in a fraction of your life, I'm hoping you'll be in all of mine.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I’m Pixie, a sleek Chi X with an approximate DOB of 11/13/12. I lost my home when my elderly Mom could no longer care for me.    I weigh about 10 lbs so consider myself a perfect little lap dog and will try to prove it to the new mom or dad. I love nothing more than to be under a blanket snuggled up with you. I have the sweetest look of love that i give to my person. I tend to make friends with women easily, but men and other dogs take a little bit more time to warm up. But if given a little time, I’ll warm up as well. I’ve also met kids, and did very well with them. They were probably about seven years old and very respectful of me. However, despite my gray hair, I do have energy to play chase with my buddies, or to take a walk or run around the neighborhood. I have a little happy dance I do sometimes when it’s time to go take a walk. I’m house trained and also love to sleep in. Im not a huge barker, so I could live in an apartment or house. I’ve lived with cats and dogs, but would also be perfectly content about being the only pet in the home. People are my favorite. I’m an all around easy dog.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Meet Emmet! This sweet baby boy is apx 9 months old, born in Feb 2023. He loves food and is working to learn new tricks! He is learning what love is. He is shy to meet new people but is learning to cuddle. Emmet really wants to be a cuddle bug, but isn't always too sure- his sonar ears certainly tell you what he's feeling. He loves the cat he interacts with and has been around a lot of other dogs. He hasn't been exposed to children yet, but would likely love anyone if they take some time and patience. He has had a long journey for being so young, and we would love to see him meet his furever family soon! Previous dog experience is preferred. More info added over time. Please feel free to reach out to us through email at legends@legendsrescue.org *We only adopt and foster our animals within a 60 mile radius from New Brighton, MN* All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment. You can contact us through our website at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/contact/ or visit our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LegendsRescue/ if you have further questions or would like to schedule a meet and greet. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/forms/ FOSTER CARE: Our rescues are fostered in individual homes or at our facility. We work hard to ensure that our rescues have a supportive family while at foster homes to help them move forward and get ready for their forever home. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before a dog is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please fill out our application at http://legendsrescue.org/index.php/adopt/foster-application/ YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Story
Snapshot of Stacie: Size: I'll probably be closer to 15-20 pounds when I'm full grown. I'm around 13 pounds right now. Activity Level: I love to play hard and snuggle hard! Noise Level: I bark to let you know something is happening, when I'm excited, or when I want something. They are short periods or time but I would probably do best with no shared walls. Good with Dogs: I love all dogs! Good with Cats: I don't know what to think about cats. But I co-exist with them just fine. Good with Kids: I love little ones! Good with Strangers: Yep! Potty Trained: I'm a puppy, so I'm still working on it! Crate Trained: Yes Shedding: Minimal Hello, Stacie here! I'm an "older" puppy with a little body and TONS of personality. I was once described as shy before coming to my foster home. But now that I'm settled in you'd never know (and really, I was never that shy. Just a tad less outgoing than my sister Skipper!). I'm fantastic with dogs of all sizes and kids. I live with cats as well. They're weird and sometimes I bark at them. But overall we co-exist well. My favorite activities are playing keep away with my foster siblings (I'm the one who LOVES being chased), snuggling next to my foster mom when she sits on the recliner, and chewing on nylabones! I'm still a puppy so sometimes I forget what is for dogs and what is for humans. But I really prefer nylabones over anything. So if you help redirect me to one, it's an easy swap! I kennel well but will sometimes bark when I first go in or if I see a cat walk past me. I just really need to let it be known that its SO unfair that they get free roam 100% of the time and I don't. Potty training is going well! But with the new cold weather that I'm experiencing, I'm regressing a little. Luckily, I'm super duper smart so I'm sure I'll be 100% potty trained in no time! My perfect home would include humans who love to snuggle, play, and don't mind a little jumping or barking (I'm a young, excitable pup! Can you blame me?). I'm small so my jumping doesn't bother the four year old but babies who are learning to walk may have a different opinion. I would LOVE a dog playmate of any size but I would also do just fine being the center of attention. Stacie is fixed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations for their age. Adoption Fee: $600 + applicable tax Training Requirement: Obedience Level 1 Recommended MEET ME/ADOPT ME: If you'd like to arrange a meeting or begin the adoption process, please fill out an adoption application by visiting How to Adopt - Twin Cities Pet Rescue or clicking "adopt me! About Marshall: Size? Small Activity Level? Active when we take him outside, but he is also a very calm and cuddly dog. Noise Level? He barks at men and other people when walking down the street. Good with Dogs? Yes Good with Cats? Yes Good with Kids? Yes Good with Strangers? No Potty Trained? Working on it. Crate Trained? Yes Shedding? No Hi, my name is Marshall. I am a 2-year-old Male Chihuahua. I am a loyal companion who loves snuggles almost as much as I love food. I love going on walks, but I do not like sudden/loud movements, wet grass, or thunderstorms. It might take a bit for me to warm up to people or other animals in the house because I am a bit territorial so please give me time, especially when meeting men. I also have separation anxiety and may need someone to help me adjust, but once we pass that stage I am the most cuddly, loyal, loving dog you'll ever meet! I am only 2 years old so I get the zoomies quite often and I love to chase, but don't chase me because I'll get scared! I love to play tug-o-war with socks or anything I can hold onto that's not an actual toy. When we go on car rides, I am the best lap passenger. I get super excited when my owner comes home because it means treats and cuddles! Because I'm so young, I am still learning tricks and words. I'm still learning to sit, but I love showing off my dancing skills when I see treats. I am potty trained, but I don't know how to tell you when I need to go outside, I just need to be brought out 4-5 times a day. I would do best in a quiet house with few strangers coming in and out and will be patient with the time it takes for me to acclimate and how vocal I am. If your house is the life of the party on weekends, we might not be a great match. However, I'll be perfect for someone who wants to relax and cuddle, or go out for car rides and walks! Would you like to be my fur-ever family? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 10/01/2015 Requires another dog in home: Yes, needs another confident dog Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, dog friendly dogs Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 13 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, needs a fence  Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Jessie and I am the perfect combination of sweet and gentle. I am a timid and shy girl who is making tremendous progress living in a home with a loving family. I have learned so many things – the most important is to trust my people. My people have been very gentle and going slow with me and I have made a lot of progress. She gives me little massages on my head and back – it is so relaxing for me and my people. I have the softest coat and I think you will agree! I am a shy little girl, so having a confident dog in my forever home is required. Another dog will be helpful to show me the ropes, help me get on a routine and help me feel comfortable in my surroundings. Foster mom tells me with a little time and a lotta love, I will come out of my shell and be a great friend to my people. A lot of commotion worry me a bit, so I spend time in my comfy bed watching the activity in the house. Hopefully you have lots of comfy beds for me! Potty training is going great, my foster mom carries me outside and I am good about doing my business on a routine. While I will go potty on a leash, I don't know how to go for walks yet so will need a fence. Maybe there is another dog in the house to show me how to walk on a leash? Hopefully! Anyway, I am ready for my forever. My forever family, my forever home and my forever best friend that will love me unconditionally, not give up on me! I promise I’m worth it and I will fill that hole that you possibly never even knew was there! Love, Jessie *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.     DOB:  10/22/2022 Requires another dog in home: Yes Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 10 pounds Food Fed: Solid Gold Requires a fenced yard:  No Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Rowr! My name is Lion and am a little bit cowardly but am trying my best!  I really want to be friends and will wag my little tail to let you know how excited I am to see you. Although I am a bit shy, I do like to get attention, especially when the other dogs are getting attention. I am close by, but am still timid so keep just out of reach. I know with some patience and time I will learn to trust people. When my people walk by, I will lay down and let my foster mom pick me up. She will carry me around and tell me everything will be ok. I love when she talks to me in a gentle voice. We are working on all the important puppy skills. Potty training is a work in progress – and I do need a fence in my forever home as I don’t have a lot of leash experience. I do need another dog in my forever home to help me build confidence and learn to trust people. Having another confident and social dog will help me get on a routine – because I know I can follow the leader! When we go to puppy school together I know we will learn lots of new things and it will be a great opportunity for us to bond and build confidence. Ready for a little friend that has a lot of love to give? All I need now is a forever family with patience and unconditional love to help me bloom.    *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters.  Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter.  Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society.   Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized.  If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. This puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello there, my formal name is Lobito but I go by Louie; I like keeping things casual! I am a chihuahua and Pomeranian mix, approximately 2 years old and a tiny guy at 11 pounds. My life changed dramatically when I left the streets of Mexico and arrived in a comfy home in Minnesota. My main goals in life now are to snuggle as much as possible, play with my stuffed toys and monitor what is going on both in the house and outside. I love a good, comfy blanket and will pop right up on the couch when my people are seated. I have mastered a lot of things in my foster home. I sleep well in my kennel and am also good about being in there when my foster family is away. I would much rather sleep in someone's bed or roam the house but my foster family says I should be used to my kennel in case my forever family prefers that. I do get upset if I am in my kennel while someone is home. I don't like to be kept away from the action. I have also mastered going potty outside. I love being outside and checking things out. My fosters have a fenced in yard which is great as it gives me room to run around and explore. That being said, I could adjust to being on a tie-out too. I went through a little transition period when I arrived and had a few accidents but am now doing great! It does take some convincing for me to go out if it is raining though. I keep hearing about this cold snow stuff that is coming soon. Being such a small fella with a light fur coat, I may need a coat to keep me warm out there. I do great walking on the leash, I get very excited when I see the leash come out, I love walking and exploring the neighborhood! I do pull a little bit but I'm not strong enough for it to be excessive. I ride great in the car and I have been to the puppy salon a couple times to get my nails trimmed. I also do well for baths. As long as it's me and my people, I'm a happy guy.  Now that I have you convinced that I am just perfect, let me tell you about some of my struggles. Being a stray in my earlier life has put me on high alert at all times. I may be able to make some improvements with dedicated training but I will likely struggle with being on high alert ongoing. I startle easily at sudden movements or noises. Because of this, I would do best in a home with no young children. My human foster brothers are teenagers and we get along well but younger kids move too quickly for me to process and I get upset. I also am quite protective of my home and my people. When a new person comes to the house, I bark, growl and snap towards them. I am not trying to bite but it's very loud and scary for the new person. My foster family will need to be dedicated to either VERY slow introductions to new people or putting me in a kennel out of sight when new people are at the house. I also react the same way to other dogs when I am in the yard or on a walk. I do live with two dogs currently and get along with them great. I even like playing and snuggling with them, but I have not been able to really get along with other dogs so I probably would do best being the only dog in my forever home. That's a lot about me, I'm excited to get to know you! If you're looking for a sidekick and forever pal, I just might be the guy for you!   Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $495.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 1, 2023, 10:10 pm
