Story
Meet handsome Dupuis. His momma is an 11 lbs chi mix ... daddy unknown, so we are guessing based on current size he will remain under 25 lbs when full grown, as he currently tops out at just under 9 lbs and was born 6/6/24. Dupuis has a very sweet personality and is looking for a forever home with a person or family that can keep up with him and work with him on potty and leash training. He has only had direct contact with other small dogs so far. Please no small children under 8 years old and a fenced yard is preferred as active pups need a safe place to run and burn off energy. He is micro chipped, neutered and current on vaccines, heartworm and flea and tick. Dupuis is currently being fostered in Cookeville, TN but transportation via Rescue Riders LLC to one of their locations is included in the adoption fee. Please reach out if you are interested in applying to add Dupuis to your family and we will direct you on how to apply.

Story
CLEO | 7 years old | 10-pounds*Alright, STOP. Collaborate and listen…She cute but she is expensive.Cleo will need prescription food and medication for the remainder of her life. Still interested? Read on!—--Straight from her foster’s mouth to your ears.. erhmm.. eyes.. learn more about Cleo directly from the source! They say diamonds are a girl’s best friend.. And you better have a lot of them. To sell. To pay for her vet care.Haha! Just kidding! *looks around* Kind of..Cleo has a condition called protein-losing enteropathy (PLE) caused by irritable bowel disease. She loses proteins from her bloodstream into her GI tract faster than her body can replenish them and her medical management helps regulate this condition.Cleo’s daily life is unaffected by this and she does your everyday dog things. The only addition is giving her medication (pills) with her morning and evening meals which she takes without problem.Still interested? Then you’re ready to hear our secret..—--Cleo is a GEM. A truly one-of-a-kind companion. So without further ado, here’s what you need to know about Cleo!Extremely smart. Eats her own poop. In a glass-half-full kind of world, you could consider her a self-poop picker-upper. (But really, you are going to have to go out in those subzero temps and pick up her poop before she does.)In all seriousness, she is one of the best potty-trained dogs we have ever had. And she understands cues so quickly. She even knows sit, shake, high five, and can catch her food mid-air!Farts can clear a room. They just get stronger. Rootin’ Tootin’ Cleo should be in the Guinness Book of Records or something.Teeters on being the fun police. Still fun.Cleo coexists with dogs big and small but can sometimes be a playtime hall monitor. That said, if she finds the right dog with the right playstyle, she has a good time playing chase and wrestling!Loves tug o’ war. Hates fetch. If you throw her toy, she’s going to look at you like what are you even doing. On a scale of one to barky, she’s about a five. While Cleo doesn’t bark all day long, she is going to warn you about car doors slamming, people talking, the general goings on of the world. And her bark be loud so shared walls may not be the best fit for her. She stops with some guidance pretty quickly.. usually.. sometimes..Loves food. Hates sharing. Cleo’s favorite times of the day are, hands down, breakfast and dinner. And she’s got that only child syndrome (I can say that, I’m an only child) where everything is hers. Her food. Her toys. Your food. All hers. And she will tell anyone who needs to know.Cleo doesn’t currently live with cats but has in the past and takes it in stride. As long as she’s the center of attention, that’s all she really needs.Supposedly a Chihuahua/Pug mix. Definitely just as needy. Pug parents, am I right? Cleo will climb on your lap, push her way to your hands, and really doesn’t care if she’s stepping on another dog to get to the top. We mean that figuratively. Well.. except for those times when she’s literally walking over a dog to get to you.Likes to give kisses. Licks everything. Literally everything.. the couch, the floor, the carpet, the coffee table, your clothes, and your face.Cleo is great with kids of all ages but it’s probably best that she live in a home with teens or no kids on account of how much she loves food. Because she has PLE, Cleo needs to be on a restricted diet and can’t be catching scraps or snagging food from those little hands. Because she would. She totally would. This girl’s personality is a great balance of play and chill, and she walks so well on a leash.. when it’s actually warm out.. A lap dog through and through, Cleo wants to be snuggled in with you, often under a blanket (Chihuahua parents, you get it). She's content to snooze on the couch or a dog bed when you're gone and she can fit into any social situation.Cleo is one of the best dogs out there and whoever has the privilege of adopting her is going to know love (and toots) beyond measure!—--*Opening Line Credit: Vanilla Ice - “Ice Ice Baby”Cleo came to Pet Haven Rescue with a severe case of PLE. Her levels are back to normal with the help of food and medication management.More on protein-losing enteropathy (PLE): https://vcahospitals.com/know-your-pet/proteinlosing-enteropathy-ple-in-dogs—--If you are interested in this dog, fill out an application at this link to get the ball rolling: https://pethavenmn.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/dog-adoption-application/The adoption fee is $250. Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, heartworm/Lyme test, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and Bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchip implant (including registration). Adoption fees INCLUDE a mandatory sales tax of 7.525%. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown. Due to post-adoption services provided, we prefer to adopt within a 150-mile radius of the Twin Cities. However, we will consider up to 250 miles if the foster agrees to travel requirements and staff approval.

Story
Hi, I'm Tiny Batman and I'm from Alabama! From his foster: Tiny Batman has been going by Tito with us. I mostly call him silly pet names, so I honestly don't know if he knows any particular name right now :) Because I work from home, I have spent a lot of time with this little guy. He is full of dog love! He is also guarded and nervous around new people. He requires patience and a home that lets the dog decide when he wants attention. He will bark at sounds, new visitors, squirrels in the yard, and other dogs, but as he is building some comfort, this behavior is beginning to subside. 1. He is a very playful dog. He loves to chase a ball and he loves tug of war. He definitely sounds aggressive when he plays, so it takes some time to learn his body language when he wants to play with you. 2. We go on a daily walk and he loves it. He still wants to run in the yard several times a day. I am learning that he is not a fan of rain and you have to go outside with him to encourage him to stay out long enough to go potty. I'm guessing the snow will be similar. He can be leery of new people putting on his leash, so it might take some time for that comfort level to come. I have been using a slip lead, so no collar, and that has been fine. 3. He is mostly trained to use the bathroom outside, but he definitely had some accidents in the first week or two that he was with me-probably nerves. He still has some #2 accidents on occasion (I think it is when I take too long to leave for the walk in the morning). 4. He is very sweet and affectionate and will require a good amount of attention. 5. I have never put him in a crate in my home, but he does sleep on his own in a dog bed through the night. He will also sleep with you if you let him. 6. He likes to chew on bones and even ice. He likes to be busy when he isn't sleeping. 7. I do not have another pet in my home, so I can't say for sure how he would do in a multiple pet situation. It seems like he could be playful with other dogs, but I think a slow, calm introduction might be required. As I understand, he has been around other dogs prior to living with me. I do not know anything about his history with cats nor have I encountered any cats since having him. 8. I feel that an adults only house will be best for him. Small children certainly won't be a good fit for him. It is possible that older kids in the house could be okay. Tiny still needs training and everyone in a home will need a vested interest in his training and success. A home with lots of people in and out and lots of activity will likely stress this guy out and lead to not his best behavior. 9. He seems to do okay on car rides. I haven't tested this too much, but I have had some amount of success on a couple of car trips. 10. He loves to run in a yard, but if you just are able to get him out for walks that will likely suffice. I suppose he will want space to run around the house without a yard though. 11. A single family dwelling without shared walls is probably best. An apartment with shared hallways would be tough on this guy and shared walls might be tough on your neighbors because he is definitely vocal at times. Tiny has a history that includes a scare with a harness, which left him apprehensive about leashes. For now, he needs a fenced yard to explore freely without the pressure of a leash. With patience and love, Tiny will reward your commitment with endless snuggles and affection. Tiny is a very special dog that needs a very special home. He is the absolute sweetest companion! I have seen such growth in him in a short period of time. As he learns to feel safe in an environment, he can and will thrive. Please know that he will need time and patience and maybe a little bit of forgiveness along the way.

I am looking for a temp foster from: Sept 29th - October 13th I am also looking for my furever home. If you can foster me please email fostersupport@thebondbetween.org If you are interested in adopting me, please fill out the adoption application on my profile. My name is Little Bit. I'm from Alabama! From his foster: Little Bit is a one of a kind guy. At our home we have been calling him Herb - because he reminds us of an old man with his constant love for napping and food! Herb is a dog with seizures, so he requires 3 times a day medication. He has improved a little bit with the crate but still isn't great. He does well being out with no supervision! He has minimal accidents in the house but we put belly bands on him and he does amazing with those. Herb loves nothing more than to snuggle under the blankets with you any time of the day! He loves food, so if you're eating be prepared to have him beg at your feet for a little taste! He currently lives with 2 dogs and 2 cats and does well with all of them! He loves kids as well, preferrably if they're over the age of 4. From the Vet: Hi, My name is Little Bit and I would like to share some information about my medical history. I have active epilepsy, however I am currently managing these episodes on anti seizure drugs three times daily and doing well as long as I get the meds on that consistent schedule. As long as you are comfortable and able to help me in this way, I know I will be an amazing addition to any family!

Hi! My name is Lil Bit and I am from Arkansas. I am currently being treated for heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious so your resident pets are not at risk! The treatment for this is 3-4 months long and requires a minimum of 3 appointments and strict rest/restricted activity. My adoption can take place during treatment, while TBB manages the financial responsibility of my heartworm treatment at The Bond Between Vet Center. Any other medical care needed outside of the specific care covered in the contract disclaimer, would be the responsibility of my new family. From the Vet: As stated above I am currently undergoing heartworm treatment. I also need to be spayed and have a bilateral knee surgery to repair my grade 3/4 luxating patellas. My new adoptive family will want to be prepared to nurse me through the recovery of these treatments and surgeries. This will include a lot of activity restriction both during 30 days post HW treatment and 8 weeks post orthopedic surgery. I hope I can find a special home for a special dog like me. If your looking for a lil pup to spoil I may be your girl!

Hi! My name is Allie and I am from Arkansas. From her foster: Allie is the sweetest girl who loves to cuddle up with her humans, in a dog bed, or on top of the couch. Her favorite spot though is right next to her human! She is fully potty trained and knows how to use potty pads for those cold rainy days. Allie loves to run around the yard - she does bark at strange things but is easily redirected. This girl will love her sweaters in the cold weather! She is full of personality, loves a good bone to chew, and most importantly her belly rubbed! She sleeps right in bed with my daughter and never a peep (she sleeps like a teenager and doesn't even bother to get up with the rest of the dogs for their morning potty break) She is very tiny - if she has room to explore between a small spot in a fence for instance she may take that opportunity if you aren't watching her. She is very curious about everything. I was always able to call her by her name to redirect. She does get protective of her favorite human! If she thinks another dog is getting the attention she wants she will growl but that is easily redirected and has been.

Story
Hi! My name is Louise and I am from Arkansas. I am about 3 years old and 10 lbs. My foster mom says I'm the cutest little girl on the planet, and that she knows I'm going to make my forever family very happy! Here are a few things you should know about me, to make sure we are a good fit! 1. I need to remain on a leash at all times outside. (Unless you have a privacy fence) I can jump a 4 foot gate, so I have no doubt I can jump a tall fence outside. Especially if I'm chasing one of those fluffy squirrel things. 2. I would like to go to a home that has someone there more often than not. I need my people. I don't feel safe and secure alone. I will be very sad being left alone long hours of the day. 3. I do not like big dogs. My foster mom has a shepherd mix and boy does he freak me out. I tried to play with him one time, and it was too scary to ever try again. So a home with small dogs or no other dogs is best! 4. Cats. I'm not quite sure what they are, but they also scare me. I think if they are nice I will be okay, but if they aren't sweet I will cower in a corner and not move if it's near me. 5. I am potty trained, and do fine in my kennel at night. Hopefully I can sleep on your bed eventually, though. 6. I am a Velcro dog. I want to be on you at all times. I love to give kisses and snuggle into your lap. 7. If I get loose, I don't think I'm going to come back. So it's very vital that I am properly harnessed. 8. Older respectful children only as she is very timid and scares easily.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    DOB: 10/01/2015 Requires another dog in home: Yes, needs another confident dog Okay with dogs of all sizes: Yes, dog friendly dogs Okay with cats: Unknown Okay with children under 12 years old: Unknown Weight: 13 pounds Requires a fenced yard:  Yes, needs a fence  Note: dogs must always be leashed whenever outside of a contained area. Invisible/ underground fencing is not recommended for most rescue dogs. Hello, my name is Jessie and I am the perfect combination of sweet and gentle. I am a timid and shy girl who is making tremendous progress living in a home with a loving family. I have learned so many things – the most important is to trust my people. My people have been very gentle and going slow with me and I have made a lot of progress. She gives me little massages on my head and back – it is so relaxing for me and my people. I have the softest coat and I think you will agree! I am a shy little girl, so having a confident dog in my forever home is required. Another dog will be helpful to show me the ropes, help me get on a routine and help me feel comfortable in my surroundings. Foster mom tells me with a little time and a lotta love, I will come out of my shell and be a great friend to my people. A lot of commotion worry me a bit, so I spend time in my comfy bed watching the activity in the house. Hopefully you have lots of comfy beds for me! Potty training is going great, my foster mom carries me outside and I am good about doing my business on a routine. While I will go potty on a leash, I don't know how to go for walks yet so will need a fence. Maybe there is another dog in the house to show me how to walk on a leash? Hopefully! Anyway, I am ready for my forever. My forever family, my forever home and my forever best friend that will love me unconditionally, not give up on me! I promise I’m worth it and I will fill that hole that you possibly never even knew was there! Love, Jessie *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.      ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi, I am Gladys! I am a sweet senior girl. I am always curious about what everyone is doing! I am crate trained and close to house trained if you keep me on a schedule. I am pretty quiet and want to be your friend!  Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue.
