Story
Hi, I’m Pippa, your future tiny shadow and full-time best friend. At 8 years old, this Chihuahua and Dachshund mix has perfected the art of companionship. Pippa is potty trained, low energy, and happiest when she’s curled up beside you, soaking in every bit of love and attention. She is the kind of dog who doesn’t need constant attention; she just wants to be near her person, quietly keeping you company. Pippa can be a little unsure when meeting new people, but give her a little time and she warms up into the sweetest, most affectionate girl. Once you’re in her circle, you’re there for life. She is loyal to her core and will love you unconditionally, making her a wonderful candidate for an emotional support companion. She adores belly rubs, scratches, and kisses. The moment you start, she will roll onto her back, stretch out completely, and fully commit to the experience. If you dare to stop, she will gently nudge you with her nose as if to say, “not done yet.” When she is especially happy, she even flashes a little toothy smile that is guaranteed to make you laugh. Pippa enjoys toys, rides well in the car, and is both leash and crate trained. She may whimper a bit when confined, but she rarely barks. She has a gentle nature with a slightly protective streak, and she truly thrives when she can bond closely with her person. In her perfect home, Pippa would be your one and only pup, soaking up all the love and attention she so deeply deserves. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and devoted companion who will always be by your side, Pippa is ready to meet you. Pippa is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/7/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.

Story
Fanny is a laid-back, easygoing little lady with a calm and gentle spirit. She doesn’t meet a stranger and has a wonderfully even-tempered personality. With her low energy level and love of lap time, she’s the perfect companion for someone looking for a relaxed, affectionate friend. Fanny does well with adult men, adult women, and small dogs. She likely would be good with most people, though little children may startle her. She can be playful at times but would also do perfectly fine as an only dog. She’s independent without being distant and enjoys simply being near her person. She is leash trained and mostly house trained (with access to a doggy door). Fanny is generally quiet, but she definitely knows when it’s mealtime — and she’ll give you a little bark reminder to keep you on schedule! Fanny was found as a stray just before a recent freeze. Someone had posted asking for help, and thankfully she was rescued in time. She was very underweight when found, and after a vet visit it was discovered she needed to begin heart medication. Since starting her medication, she has done wonderfully — gaining weight, feeling stronger, and showing more pep in her step every day. She truly is an easy pup who just wants a safe, loving home where she can relax and be cared for. Fanny has been through a lot, and now she’s ready for a stable forever family who will continue giving her the love and medical care she needs. Fanny would make a wonderful, low-key companion for someone who appreciates a calm, loyal little shadow by their side! Fanny is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 03/07/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Meet Aladdin, a 2-year-old male Chihuahua/Dachshund mix.Aladdin may be a little shy at first, but behind those cautious eyes is a very sweet boy who just needs a little patience and kindness. When he first arrived, he spent some time hiding, but within just a few hours he was already coming up for gentle pets and even offering a few shy kisses. Once Aladdin decides you are safe, his affection starts to shine through. He is already potty trained, crate trained, and does well in the car. He is a quiet, low energy companion who would be happiest in a calm home where things move at a slower pace. Fast movements and quick introductions can make him nervous at first, so he will need someone who understands that trust takes a little time. Aladdin gets along with other dogs, though very high energy pups can feel overwhelming for him right now. A calm, low energy dog friend could help him build confidence, but he would also do just fine as your one and only. One thing to know about this little guy is that he is a bit of an escape artist while he is settling in. Until he feels safe and secure, he may look for ways to sneak out of pens or open spaces, so a watchful eye and a secure setup will help him succeed. Aladdin is the kind of dog that forms a deep bond with his person. The moment he starts to trust you and seeks out your affection makes every bit of patience worth it. If you are looking for a gentle little companion who will reward your kindness with loyalty and love, Aladdin may be your perfect match. Aladdin is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/21/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Story
Enzo is a sweet little Chihuahua with a gentle heart and a personality that shines once he feels comfortable. He may be a little cautious when meeting new people, but give him a few minutes and you’ll see his silly, affectionate side come out. Once he warms up, Enzo loves nothing more than being close to his person. This little guy absolutely thrives on affection. Pets, cuddles, and kisses are some of his favorite things, and he’ll happily stay snuggled up with you for as long as you let him. One of his favorite ways to show love is by laying on your chest and giving sweet little hand kisses. Enzo also has a playful side. Toss a toy and he’ll happily chase after it, ready for another round. He enjoys treats and mealtime and approaches both with lots of enthusiasm. Curious by nature, Enzo likes exploring his surroundings and keeping an eye on what his people are doing. When it’s time to relax, Enzo loves burrowing under a cozy blanket for a nap. Every now and then he’ll pop his head out just to check on his favorite human before settling back in. He is crate trained and sleeps peacefully through the night. Enzo currently lives with both big and small dogs. He does well with them but prefers having his own space, such as his own dog bed or blanket. He’s okay with toys around him but doesn’t like sharing when a toy is in his possession. He’s already showing improvement with sharing spaces and just needs a patient home that will continue helping him build confidence and good habits. Calm, non-reactive dogs would be the best companions for him. He is leash trained, does well in the car, enjoys toys, water, and fetch, and has a moderate energy level with a fun, goofy personality. Enzo is also very smart and eager to please, so with a little guidance he should pick up training quickly. He is still working on potty training and does best with a routine. Enzo has only barked occasionally outside while joining in with his foster dog friends, and otherwise is a pretty quiet little guy. He is currently a bit underweight but is doing well and continuing to improve. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion who will shower you with affection, cuddle under blankets, and keep you smiling with his playful personality, Enzo may be the perfect addition to your family. 💛 Enzo is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/21/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Story
Hi, I’m Lovie. A tiny little lady with a big heart and a strong opinion about who gets the best lap in the house. I’m an 8-year-old Chihuahua and Miniature Pinscher mix, and I’m looking for a cozy home where I can be someone’s loyal little companion. I get along well with other small dogs, though I will admit I like to be first in line for lap time. If there’s a cozy lap available, I believe it should be mine. What can I say? I know what I like. When I meet new people I can be a little nervous and might let you know about it with my voice. I just need a little space and a bit of patience while I decide everything is safe. Once I feel comfortable, I settle right down. I’m already potty trained and have some good basics down. I’m leash trained, crate trained, and I ride nicely in the car. My energy level is moderate, so I enjoy walks and little adventures but I’m just as happy curling up beside you for a nap. My favorite place in the world is right next to my person. I love to cuddle and I make an excellent bed partner if you don’t mind a tiny heater tucked under the blankets. If you’re looking for a devoted little companion who will happily keep you company, warm your lap, and remind you that you’re loved every single day, I might just be your girl. Lovie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 3/21/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Story
Phoenix is a playful lover boy looking for a soft landing in Minnesota! He loves playing with toys and romping around, he makes everyone laugh when he gets the zoomies. Phoenix is doing really well with house training, though might need a little adjustment period as he gets used to his new home. This guy tends to let you know that he doesn't love being in the kennel, so a home without shared walls will be best for his forever home! He also fixates on cats and wants to play with them so much that it can make the cat uncomfortable. He will need obedience training as well. Phoenix is ready to light up your life with his silly antics and soulful eyes! Phoenix is from Texas.
