Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Marble is a gentle, affectionate toy-lover looking for a loving home where she can play and relax. She is a cautious girl who takes a little time to feel comfortable around new dogs and people. She may bark at large dogs or unfamiliar visitors at first, and she’ll sometimes bark through the fence at the neighbor’s dog or when a new dog comes into the home. She has been through a lot! Marble came from a home with many dogs and was very shy when she first arrived. Now that she's had some time to adjust, she seeks out attention and pets. She’s starting to truly enjoy exploring, playing, and relaxing in the quiet of the house. She is mostly potty-trained and generally very quiet unless other dogs start barking. Marble loves food and treats, which makes her easy to train. One of her funniest quirks is stealing toys from the other dogs just to get them to chase her — she’s fast and playful once her confidence shines through! Marble would do best in a calm home with a confident companion dog who can show her the ropes. She has lived peacefully with several dogs and has never had a cross word with any of them. While she may never be a lap dog, Marble will be a loyal, loving presence for someone patient enough to let her bloom at her own pace. Marble’s previous owner had to enter a nursing home, and the rescue took her in along with four of her canine friends from that home. With a little time, understanding, and stability, Marble will continue to grow into the wonderful, devoted dog she’s meant to be. Marble is  from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi! I’m Tinker, a young, likely chihuahua/rat terrier mix with a gentle soul, a playful streak, and a whole lot of love to give. I’m friendly with humans of all ages and get along great with dogs big and small—so whether your home is busy or quiet, I’ll fit right in. I may be little, but I’m a great listener! One of my foster family’s favorite things about me is how well I pay attention—I usually understand what you want the very first time. I’m calm, sweet, and eager to please. I enjoy toys, car rides, splashing in water, and curling up in a warm lap for cuddles. I can be a bit vocal when I hear exciting things outside or when someone comes to the door (I just like to keep you informed!), but overall I’m a gentle, affectionate girl with basic training already under my belt. I’m still working on full potty training, but I do use potty pads and just need a little patience as I keep learning. Oh—and here’s a fun fact about me: if you blow air toward my face, I’ll try to catch it . I’m a little silly like that. At the end of the day, I’m just a sweet, loving pup looking for a new home where I can be someone’s loyal companion. If you’re searching for a calm, affectionate, and endlessly lovable little dog, I might just be the one for you! Tinker is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Minnie is a 1.5-year-old likely Chihuahua/Rat Terrier mix with a big personality packed into a petite, spring-loaded body. Seriously—this little lady can jump ! When she’s excited, she pops straight up like a tiny kangaroo, and it’s impossible not to smile. Minnie is friendly with humans of all ages and gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes. She has a moderate energy level, loves toys, enjoys water (yes, really!), and does great riding in the car. She has basic training under her belt and is eager to keep learning with someone who will guide her gently. She’s still working on full potty training but does use potty pads, so she’s off to a great start. Minnie can be a bit vocal when someone knocks on the door or when she notices exciting things outside—but here’s the impressive part: if you ask her to be quiet, she listens and settles right down. Minnie is a sensitive soul who had a rough start butt the moment she’s shown affection, she gives all of herself in return. She’s playful, a little skittish at times, and incredibly affectionate once she knows she’s safe. Minnie is the kind of dog who will bond deeply with her person and remind you every day how powerful kindness can be. If you’re looking for a loyal little companion with a bouncy spirit and a tender heart, Minnie may be your perfect match. Minnie is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Pruney is a 6-year-old likely Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix with the sweetest, softest soul. After surviving a hard start to life in a junkyard, this little girl was understandably scared of the world. But once she found safety, her true personality bloomed — and it’s nothing but pure affection. Pruney is a quiet, low-energy, even-tempered lap dog who lives for comfort and closeness. She adores cozy blankets, soft beds, and being right by her person’s side. She’s crate trained and loves her kennel, happily going in on her own — it’s her safe place. If given the chance, she’d be thrilled to sleep in bed with her human, too. She may be shy when first meeting new people, but give her just a couple of minutes and she’ll warm up beautifully. Pruney is gentle, affectionate, and deeply loyal — the kind of dog who misses her person when they’re out of sight and lights up when they return. She gets along well with other dogs but would also be perfectly happy as an only pup, soaking up all the love for herself. Pruney is potty trained, has basic training, and is wonderfully quiet. Toys don’t interest her much, but food certainly does — she’ll gladly remind you when it’s mealtime! She loves both men and women and truly thrives in a calm, predictable environment. Pruney would do best in a peaceful, loving home where she can enjoy full meals, soft beds, and the warm lap she’s waited so long for. If you’re looking for a loyal, low-key companion with a huge heart in a tiny body, Pruney may be your perfect match. Pruney is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 01/24/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 8:30am and noon.
