Story
Jack is a chiweenie that is around 13 years old. I rescued him from the a shelter roughly ten years ago and they said they estimated he was 4 at the time. He was abused in his first home so he is very skiddish. He isn't high energy and doesn't bark a lot. He is also mostly or all the way blind which happened this past year. With my busy work/school schedule and having just had another baby at home, I haven't had the time to dedicate to him anymore.

Story
Waylon is 5 years old and a sweet dog. He’s energetic and loves to play with other dogs. He’s good with cats and kids but does like to jump. He still pulls on the leash. He sits on command and will come to his name. Waylon entered our lives when he was abandoned outside our house. He’s a very happy and silly dog who needs a home with a fenced yard and an energetic family.

Story
A foster-to-adopt option is available for Coco, giving you the chance to get to know each other before making it official! Meet Coco! Rescued from St. Thomas while pregnant, Coco proved herself to be an amazing mother to six healthy puppies. Now that her babies are grown, she’s ready to find her forever home. Coco is a true island girl.. she came to us feral and is still learning to trust people. She’s very timid and considered a flight risk, so she’ll need a home with a secure fenced yard. Coco can walk on a leash, though slowly, and would thrive in a home with another confident dog to help her learn what it’s like to be a “normal” pup. Coco is a special project dog who will need a patient, understanding adopter experienced with fearful dogs. She’s also heartworm positive, but Furkids will cover her treatment. With time, love, and gentle guidance, Coco has the potential to blossom into a loyal and loving companion. Coco currently weighs about 19lbs., is about 4.5 years old (est. birth date 11/17/2021), and her adoption fee is $185. Coco has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Coco, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. Story
A foster-to-adopt option is available for me, giving us the chance to get to know each other before making it official! Zela is a 13-year-old senior girl who returned to Furkids after years in a home when her previous owner could no longer care for her. She is a sweet, sensitive girl with a big personality and very unique needs as she continues to age. Zela is deaf and is also showing signs consistent with dementia. This means she may become confused at times, especially in the mornings, and can feel scared or unsettled until she fully wakes up. During these moments, she benefits from calm reassurance and gentle affection. Once awake, she typically settles in and does well. In the evenings, Zela can become more restless, often pacing or having bursts of energy that may include playful zoomies. She can also be mouthy during these times, which is not aggression but rather part of her excitement. Zela does not always have strong self-preservation awareness and may try to climb or jump in unsafe ways. Because of this, she requires a secure home environment and careful supervision to keep her safe. She can also be stubborn at times, especially around transitions like bedtime or getting ready for outings, and does best when allowed to move at her own pace. She is crate and house trained but dislikes being picked up and needs a patient, understanding home that uses positive reinforcement and respects her boundaries. Due to her needs, she is not suited for a home with small or young children. Zela is a very special senior who forms strong bonds with her person and enjoys calm companionship. She would thrive in a patient, structured home that can provide safety, stability, and gentle love in her golden years. Zela currently weighs about 22lbs., is approximately 13 years old (est. birth date 01/14/2013), and her adoption fee is $185. Zela has been spayed, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. If you want to know more about Zela, please complete a survey at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FKDS/Dog. After submitting a survey, an adoption counselor will contact you within 72 hours to give you more information about the dog you are interested in adopting and to arrange for you to meet. You must be at least 21 years of age to adopt.
