Story
Loyal Cattle Dog Mix: Ball Player, Cuddler & Protector! Meet Kanga! I’m a 6-year-old Cattle Dog mix with a heart bigger than my ears. A rescue survivor, I am deeply loyal and looking for an experienced leader to be my new person. My Best Traits: Ball is Life: I play fetch for hours. Athletic & focused! Velcro Dog: Once play is done, I am a 100% lap dog. I want to be touching you constantly. Pack Loyalty: I bond hard. I live with another dog now and adore my pack. What I Need: I am a true Cattle Dog! I have strong protective instincts and will guard my home (I bark at strangers). I can get over-excited or defensive (typical "Heeler nip"), so I need calm, structured leadership. I’m housebroken but can have submissive piddles when greeting! I take Cosequin for mild hip dysplasia after heavy exercise. Ideal Home: Fenced yard, best with respectful school-aged kids (8+), and an owner who understands herding breeds. If you want a shadow who adores you, I’m your girl!

If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericYou can learn about the adoption process by visiting: http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/howtoadopt/.  Dog's Name:   Tex  (TEX1220JNSMN)Estimated Breed:   Cattle Dog MixApproximate Age:  5-6 yearsApproximate Weight:   59 lbs Currently Living at:  BoardingAdoption Fee:  $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION:  Tex is not just your average dog; he's a sweet, affectionate companion eagerly searching for his forever home where he can share his boundless love and energy with a caring family. In his foster home, Tex has been thriving, showcasing his good manners and delightful personality. He's an outgoing pup who adores meeting new people and making furry friends. However, Tex prefers to be the sole dog in his household, and he kindly requests a cat-free environment, too! He will also be too much for small children. If there are kids in the home they should be 10 yrs or older. One of Tex's favorite pastimes is going for car rides, his tail wagging with excitement as he embarks on adventures with his beloved humans. Plus, he's mastered the art of crate training, willingly retreating to his cozy den upon command.Although Tex is an active fellow, he's adaptable and could happily reside in an apartment setting as long as he receives ample exercise and mental stimulation. He's hoping to find a home with someone experienced in handling dogs, someone who understands his needs and is ready to embark on this journey with him.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSponsor Me!    Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/  . DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Olivia is 2-1/2yo, weighs 50lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines and is microchipped.  She knows the following commands:  sit, stay, wait, fetch/return the ball.  Olivia's guardian adds:  "She has full access to the house.  We go on 5+ walks, dog park trips, etc. every day.  She sleeps at night in a crate.  She does great in the car.  She dislikes being alone." Olivia's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome her: "Olivia is a very social, active girl who needs 24/7 access to a yard and a home with other dogs.  When I adopted her we (myself and the animal shelter) thought she was a quiet girl who was introverted and didn't need much exercise.  As she has gotten more comfortable and confident it is clear she has A LOT of energy and needs to be around other dogs and activity 24/7.  I have been sending her to daycare 2-3x a week but that is not sufficient and I cannot afford to send her any other days.  I have been in contact with her vet as well as local trainers to no avail." Olivia's guardian offers a brief a medical history:  "She occasionally struggles with incontinence and is currently on Proin." Olivia's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Olivia hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "I have babysat my nephews (infant, toddler) and she has done great". Olivia's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Although Olivia doesn't live with dogs, her guardian recommends her living with dogs, stating "Olivia LOVES being with dogs.  She's happiest when she sees other dogs/can play with them.  She has never bitten or lunged or been aggressive to other dogs when we are out on walks or at the dog park". Olivia's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Since Olivia doesn't live with nor has otherwise been around cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats. Olivia's guardian describes her as: Very active Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Always at your side Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Olivia's guardian describes her ideal future home: "- 24/7 access to a fully fenced yard - A large house where she can run and play indoors - Live in a house with other dogs/pets she can play with - Ideally, live with a couple/family. She has not enjoyed living with just me in the apartment." Rehoming Fee:  $50 Location:  New Market, MD***** ADOPTION PROCESS  1. If you are interested in ADOPTING me, please CLICK HERE:  ADOPT ME 2. Story
Shy GalCourtesy Post   MEET LOLA!   Lola is a cuddly Australian Cattle Dog mix who is approximately one year old and 40 lbs. We just don’t understand why she’s been overlooked for as long as she has been, and while most of the other puppies that came to her foster farm with her have found their homes, she is still looking. In the meantime though, her fosters report that she is fully house and crate trained and a pleasure to have around.   Lola is an amazing farm dog. She assists her foster family with chores daily off-leash with horses, cows and chickens. Her recall is solid and she is completely chicken safe. She gets along well with other dogs, puppies and the house cat.     Lola’s personality is on the shy side, as compared to the other outgoing canines on the farm. (Perhaps this is why she hasn’t been picked - yet??) She hasn’t spent much time walking on a leash because it’s not necessary while on the farm with her recall as good as it is so she is unsure what’s expected of her while on one. She would need consistent work walking on a leash to improve her confidence. However, once settled she is super sweet and very friendly.     Lola’s adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for Lola by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.acdra.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions (as a courtesy list).January 27, 2026, 10:48 am

Story
Patient Farm GirlCourtesy Post   MEET LETTI!    Letti is a friendly Australian Cattle Dog mix who is approximately one year old and 40 lbs. It’s baffling to us but she’s been overlooked by adopters and is growing up on her foster farm. Although she is a perfect house guest, it’s time for her to land in her permanent farm/home. In the meantime though, her fosters report that she is fully house and crate trained and a pleasure to have around.   Letti is a sweet, friendly, and excellent family companion. She currently lives on a farm and is safe around horses, cats, chickens, and cows. She has great recall, enjoys off-leash time at the barn, and gets along well with other dogs and puppies.   While she would benefit from some refresher leash training, she is confident and should pick it up quickly. While on the farm, she doesn’t have much opportunity to work on this specific skill as it’s not a high priority. She stays within her boundaries and enjoys playing with the many other dogs that live there as well.   Letti’s adoption donation fee is $350, which includes spay/neuter, routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for her by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.acdra.org).  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions (as a courtesy list).January 27, 2026, 10:48 am

Story
Super Sweet Puppy!MEET JELLYBEAN! One of three puppies that came to Tara’s House on Christmas Eve, this adorable girl got a glowing report card from her foster mom. Only ~3 months old (born 10/7/25), she is not yet spayed but that will be a condition of her adoption. Here’s what her foster mom had to say about her: “She is doing SUPER, such a happy, smart puppy! She's doing really well with a regular schedule, no accidents in the house, she's learning a ton of basic commands and just really loves learning new stuff. She settles well in her crate for naps and sleeps crated at night on the first floor by herself. She's adventurous and confident, she is even a bit sassy with my big resident dogs and wants to play/chase/fetch.  “She is also getting close to 20 lbs now! Her future home should be prepared for a dog that will probably be in the 60-70 lb range as an adult, with lots of energy and drive that will need to be channeled into appropriate activities. She has 'big dog energy' already, and as the months go by she's going to match that with big dog size.  “She's met my horses and now comes out with us while I do my morning and evening barn chores, and we've explored my pastures and made our first trip down to my little wooded area to explore. If I had room in my life and my truck for a 3rd dog I would keep her in a second! But I know she is going to make a very special addition to her forever family, whoever that winds up being. I've been involved in the dog sports world for a few years now (I personally do dock diving and disc dog stuff), and I would like nothing more than to see her wind up with someone else who does or is looking to get into sports, because I think she could excel in several different sports, whether agility, rally/obedience, frisbee, dock diving, scentwork/rat games, flyball, or more.  “As far as any other details, we don't have cats so she's an unknown with cats, but because of her age and responsiveness to correction/redirection I expect she would learn to co-exist with cats. Her play style is boisterous and she would love to have a similarly energetic, playful dog companion (but would also do fine as a solo dog).” JellyBean’s adoption donation fee is $450, which includes routine vetting and a microchip. You can apply for her by filling out our online application, which is found on our website www.tarashouse.org.  Please email us at info@tarashouse.net with any questions.January 15, 2026, 4:12 pm
