Story
Charlie is a good dog who got a bad start.  We have no knowledge of his history and where he came from, but we are pretty sure he has not lived in a house with people.  When he first came to us, he hid from the dishwasher, barked at the television and ran away when first presented with stuffed toys.  He remains easily spooked by noise, but is improving – getting used to the dishwasher, the television, the stuffed dog toys and other day-to-day items in the house.  Physically, he was in pretty bad condition - He was positive for tick illnesses (we gave him Doxy and he is doing bettter now), his coat and skin were in horrible condition (we've given him good nutrition and he's looking a lot better), his teeth were Grade 3 dental disease (we gave him a dental and they are all clean now)!  Charlie weighs about 63 lbs. Charlie is a quick learner, and is adapting to life in a home with his foster collie sister.  He is learning commands and is starting to recognize his name.  We do not crate him, but leave it open and he often sleeps in there.  He is respectful of the house and items in it, and does not jump on the furniture.  He is very cooperative - He pretty much will stand still for almost anything if you ask him to especially if you scratch him – he loves to be scratched.  He grooms well, and is very affectionate.  His fur is growing in nicely since he needed to have some extensive matting shaved.   He’s very focused on understanding and fitting into his new environment.  He watches intensely and you can see the wheels turning as he tries to figure it all out.  He is interested in other dogs and people, and has shown no aggression toward either – but he will bark in the backyard at passing people (and squirrels) with his sister, who loves to do that.  He has shown interest in playing with other dogs, though we have not yet allowed that. Charlie is quite smart and very eager to please. We estimate his age to be about 6 years old.  If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!! Story
Born: October 13, 2024 Duffy is a beautiful, smiley young man, who will turn one year old in October 2025. He is a sweet and cuddly guy, who snuggles on the sofa and gives lavish loving kisses. Duffy loves all other dogs and his family - but he is skittish around new people, though, and new places, and needs slow, secure introductions.Duffy is neutered, housebroken, well trained, and except for his penchant for finding fun new toys in the house - preferably paper! - exceptionally well behaved. He’s on the tall side for a collie, and is going to be stunning when his full coat comes in! Duffy is looking for a patient and active family, with someone nonstop to play with, and a big yard. He is a gift who will be well worth the time to earn his trust.  If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. Story
Lenny is a fairly new arrival to his foster home, and he is doing great! He is a well-mannered adult collie, housebroken, smart, and loving. He plays well with his collie foster siblings and is great at turn taking. He is very much a Velcro dog, following his foster mom everywhere she goes! He’s affectionate and gives little kisses. Lenny loves hiking in the snow, and bursts into play regularly! He’s a neutered male and is doing well with dogs of all genders and ages. He is very polite in the house, knows “sit,” walks well on a leash, and rides well in a car. In public he is confident and curious and wants to meet all the people! If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
SeanKeegan is a 10 month old smooth collie and AKC registered. He has his AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy cert. I bought him from a breeder in Southern VA. I live in a townhhouse and take him to the dog park or long walks every day. He really needs to be a farm dog or live in a home with a large fenced in yard. SeanKeegan wants to be alpha dog to my 8 yr. old Aussie, who is not willing to let that happen. Otherwise they co-exist without any issue. SeanKeegan is crate trained and completely housebroken. He is a free spirit who needs more room to roam. I am a 70 year old woman who may have taken on more than I bargained for with this guy. I paid $1600 to purchase him from a breeder. My contract does not allow me to place him in a rescue group. The breeder will help rehome if I need that help. Thanks for taking a look and let me know if you are interested in giving SeanKeegan a free range home. The adoption fee is negotiable with the right home.

Story
Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap, in fact, she'd like nothing better than to cuddle on your lap while watching TV.  Shae would like to be your new BFF. As she did not learn about sharing in school, she would do best as an only dog in the household.  Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe. Gender:  Female DOB: Approx. 12/1/2023 Current size; 21 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please see our adoption guidelines at  https://spcanova.org/about-us/adoption-policies/. March 12, 2026, 4:34 pm

Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Meet Valentine, the sweet little heartthrob who’s equal parts wiggle, wonder, and love. Valentine greets his people with happy face boops, gentle hugs, and the kind of affectionate lean that says,“You’re my favorite human already.” If kisses were currency, this handsome boy would be a millionaire. Valentine loves getting out and about, taking in the world one curious step at a time. He enjoys meeting new doggy neighbors with friendly tail wags and playful twirls, and he’s happiest when he has a person nearby to share the moment with. Whether he’s strolling along, checking out the sights and sounds, or coming over for a quick cuddle break, Valentine keeps the love flowing wherever he goes. True to his name, Valentine is all heart.
