Story
1.5 years old, 49 lbs Personality: gentle, goofy/funny, outgoing, good running partner, and snuggler. Meet Jake! This curious, affectionate pup is a champion sniffer, a good athlete and runner, a dedicated cuddler, and eager as a beaver to learn from the humans and animals around him. He sits, cuddles, and lies down in the weirdest positions, and loves being close to his humans. Smart Jake is on a self improvement journey! He knows the words “sit,” “wait,” “lie down” and “off," and is working on “stay.” He’s house trained and is working diligently to perfect his leash manners — having quiet walking routes helps! Calm but active, Jake loves playing with other dogs, including his foster brother, but would do best in a home without cats. If he had his way, Jake would be right by your side all the time — but he’s very comfortable in his crate at night and is trusted uncrated during the workday. Does this gentle, goofy guy sound like a good fit for your home? Apply today to meet Jake! ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. Story
Meet Mr. Cooper. Cooper and his siblings were part of an unwanted litter living beneath the front porch of a rural Tennessee home. Concerned neighbors noticed the puppies were not confined and that no one was caring for them. Fearing for their safety, especially after learning they were not being fed regularly, a neighbor intervened and rescued the puppies just before snow and ice swept through Middle Tennessee. The puppies are now healthy, happy, and ready for their forever families to find them. Cooper is the shy one but still a wonderful little guy.  Once he warms up to you, he will not leave you alone.  Cooper just needs a little love to trust you and then he is ready to go.  His favorite place is your lap so be ready to make room.  Cooper is a mix of Collie, Australian Shepherd, and Blue Heeler. He is 13 weeks old.  Cooper enjoys playing with his brothers and sister as well as the other dogs in his foster home.  He even plays with the household cats. Cooper is working on potty training and has it almost mastered.  He just needs to remember why he went outside so he doesn't get side tracked.  Cooper is crate-trained and spends time in an inside pen when no one is home to watch him.   Cooper is neutered, up to date on all his vaccinations, and microchipped.  To be considered for his forever family and to request an application, please get in touch with Vivienne at vivienneajames@gmail.com.  APPROVED APPLICATION AND ADOPTION FEE REQUIRED.  (Cooper is currently in Tennessee and can be transported north upon adoption.)  February 3, 2026, 5:45 pm

Story
*Woof* Meet me at 71 Oglethorpe St NW between 12pm-7pm daily!Bobby Newport is one cool dog! And he has the biggest and cutest pips ever. Pips are those adorable dots over a dogs eyes and they say `the bigger the pips- the sweeter the dog.` And he is a prime example of this. Bobby Newport is a good doggie who does have some bashful moments. He is going to thrive and shine with loving adopters who can give him time to settle into a new and loving home. And he does enjoy an active lifestyle so lots of confidence and energy burning activities will be great for him. A volunteer had this to share: I love sweet Bobby! He is the fetch king - make sure you bring a couple of tennis balls out for this guy when you take him out to play. He’s also so affectionate and such a fast learner. He would also really benefit from having a job to do (I could see him doing a lot of herding of small children if a family adopts him, lol) because he’s so smart and always wants to be helpful. He’s also a total cuddler. Can you be the great family that takes him home and give him the love and stability he needs? Please visit him soon- he so needs you!

These pups are in Arlington, Virginia too!

To learn more about Trip, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org. With the help of a compassionate donor, this Pet Pal is one step closer to a forever home! Say hello to Trip, a happy-go-lucky 1-year-old Australian Cattle Dog who’s ready to trip right into your heart. With his gorgeous blonde coat sprinkled with cute ticking, he’s as striking as he is sweet. This friendly pup has loved all people, including kids, and soaks up attention from anyone who will give it to him. He generally walks well on leash, with the occasional investigative sniff work when something interests him. He takes treats gently, knows “sit,” and loves to play fetch—he can even catch a ball mid-air like a little furry outfielder! He’ll chase anything you toss, bring it back proudly, and also happily entertain himself with toys he picks out on his own. Trip has energy to spare, a big zest for life, and a heart full of happy. He sleeps like a champ through the night and is doing well with his potty training. Since he is both food- and toy-motivated, this will make him a great candidate for training as he grows. If you’re looking for a fun-loving, people-loving, toy-loving whirlwind of joy, Trip is ready to take you on the adventure of a lifetime. Bring him home and let the fun begin!
