Story
Please contact Jennifer Gmahl (jennifer.gmahl@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.Playful girl looking for her forever family!BLONDY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:   Blondy       Best Guess for Breed:   Labrador/collie Mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years old as of March 2024          SEX:    female   Approximate Weight:   47 lbs   Gets Along With:  Blondy loves other dogs!! We haven't seen them with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:   Shelter, needs a foster or forever home in the DC area   Special adoption considerations: Blondy is a truly Lucky Dog. She tested positive for heartworms, but landed in a place where heartworm treatment is provided! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. Heartworm dogs can resume full active and normal lives, but need to be kept calm for 4-6 weeks after treatment. We are happy to discuss where in the treatment process this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left!    Dogs from Puerto Rico have a major transition to go through when they arrive and will need humans who are very committed to socialization. We think this pup would do best with either a resident dog or a family who can make sure they can go on walks regularly with other dogs, visit the dog park, or go to doggie daycare to learn the ropes.   Blondy is Looking For:    Blondy is looking for a family to call her own! This sweet girl wants nothing more than to have her own humans for sniffy walks and romps in the park! After exercise and fun time, how about snuggling on the couch to have a movie night or maybe just taking a cuddle session! Rain or shine or for any good ole time Blondy is your girl! This awesome girl would also want quality kibble and a cushy dog bed and in return she would give you all of her sweet doggy love! What do you say, does Blondy have a spot in your home and in your heart? What My Foster Says About Me:    We will update this once she has spent time in foster care. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter. If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online   at   bit.ly/adoptaluckydog  .   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at      www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!! To learn more about Boone, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Boone will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Boone is a senior Coonhound mix who perfectly balances “distinguished gentleman” with “goofy best friend.” This long-snooted guy has plenty of pep and LOVES getting outside to explore—he’s happiest when he’s following his nose and taking in the world around him. He may be a little unsure in brand new situations, but he warms up quickly and is eager to please. Boone is affectionate, loves snuggles, gets along great with his foster siblings, and is overall an easygoing, happy pup who just wants to be part of the fun. As we have gotten to know him, Boone has proven to be equal parts sweet, silly, and full of charm. If you’re looking for a gentle, fun-loving companion with a playful heart, Boone might just be your perfect match.

Story
Three dogs and I'm getting more health issues. Hard to meet the needs of all three. I love Marg dearly, had her since 11 weeks, now 7yo. I want what is best for her. She has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency. Easily kept stable with enzymes added to food. I can educate any potential adopters. She is expected to live a normal lifespan. VERY HEALTHY DOG as long as she gets those enzymes and supplements.Ongoing training with positive reinforcement. Like to hike? She's your girl! Loves little puppies and is good with children. Never lived with kids so I didn't want to check yes for good with kids. Lived peacefully with a cat before. Intros with other dogs need to be slow but she enjoys my other two dogs.I'm searching for a home where she will get the care and individual attention she needs. A Scotch Collie, she loves training and having a job to do. Old enough to be easy and young enough to be active.Suburban or rural location. No apartments or dog parks! These dogs need a yard.

Story
Meet David Bowie! Take one look at my photo and you’ll see how I got my name—I’m rocking one piercing ice-blue eye, one warm brown eye, and two spectacular radar ears! I’m an almost one-year-old Collie/Husky mix, and at a lean 32 pounds, I’m the ultimate lightweight sidekick. I'm a gentle, sensitive boy navigating the world with a tender heart. Fast movements and loud noises make me jump, and I can be a little head-shy at first, but once I realize you’re a safe space, I soften right up. I take treats with the gentlest mouth, adore soft pets, and on walks, my signature move is sticking right against your legs like a devoted little shadow. (I do just ask for a peaceful corner where I can finish my dinner in peace! ) Want to see my goofy side erupt? Introduce me to another dog! I absolutely light up around furry pals—I even threw a big play-bow to my own reflection in the mirror! Having a confident, friendly canine brother or sister at home would be a game-changer to show me the ropes. Because fast movements still startle me, a patient, low-key home without young kiddos will give me the space I need to truly thrive. The vet care is already checked off: I’m neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on all my vaccines! If you’ve got a soft spot for gentle souls and a ready-made canine playmate at home, come say hi to me! ##2841879##

Story
Meet Duffy — a gorgeous young collie with a bright smile, a playful spirit, and so much love to give to the right family. Born on October 13, 2024, Duffy is still very much a puppy at heart. At home with the people and dogs he knows, he is affectionate, silly, and incredibly loving. He adores snuggling on the sofa, handing out enthusiastic kisses, and spending his days playing with his canine friends. He requires a home with another young, playful dog and a large fenced yard where he can run, wrestle, and burn off his youthful energy. Duffy is also a smart and well-mannered boy. He is neutered, housebroken, well trained, and generally a wonderful house companion — though he does occasionally enjoy “redecorating” with any paper products he can find. Like many young dogs, he’s still discovering what counts as a toy! What Duffy truly needs, though, is a patient and understanding adopter. New people and unfamiliar environments can make him nervous, and he tends to express that uncertainty by barking. He is not aggressive at all, but he does need time, slow introductions, and consistency in order to feel safe and comfortable. Once he trusts you, his sweet and loyal personality shines through beautifully. Duffy is not the kind of dog who will walk into a new home and instantly act like he’s lived there forever. He’s the kind of dog whose trust is earned — and for the right person, that bond will be incredibly rewarding. Watching him grow in confidence and blossom into the happy, loving companion he wants to be is something very special. He’s also going to be absolutely stunning as he matures. Already tall and handsome, Duffy’s full collie coat is still coming in, and he is only getting more beautiful with age. Duffy is looking for a calm but active home, a playful dog companion, and people who understand that some sensitive dogs simply need a little extra time and patience. In return, he’ll give endless affection, loyalty, laughter, and love. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!! Story
Meet Jeffrey — a sweet little soul who was born in the woods and has grown into the most loving, resilient, and joyful companion. Jeffrey is playful, smart, and full of happiness. He loves going on adventures just as much as he loves curling up for a good cuddle. His affectionate nature makes him a wonderful companion, and he has a special place in his heart for children — he absolutely adores them! Jeffrey is also wonderfully social. He gets along well with cats and other dogs, making him a great addition to a loving family. Whether he’s exploring the world, playing with his friends, or snuggling up beside his favorite person, Jeffrey brings warmth and joy wherever he goes. This handsome boy has been through a lot, but his resilience and loving spirit shine through. Jeffrey is ready for a family who will cherish him, keep him safe, and give him all the love and adventures he deserves. ❤️Accuracy is not guaranteed; however, information provided is accurate to the best of our knowledge.  For more information on the pet, please send an email to info@aforeverhome.org September 15, 2026, 6:32 pm

Story
Dutchess is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl with a wonderful balance of playful energy and calm companionship. She loves spending time with people, happily soaking up pets and affection, and she’s just as content relaxing by your side as she is joining in the fun.  We estimate her to be about 8 years old.  One of Duchess’s favorite things is food! She has an excellent appetite, eats enthusiastically, and seems to have a very high metabolism. Mealtime is definitely one of the highlights of her day. When she’s with other dogs, Duchess enjoys running and playing. Most of the time she’s calm and mellow, but every so often she’ll surprise you by springing into the air with all four feet off the ground before taking off in pursuit of her playmates. That playful burst of excitement is always fun to watch and perfectly complements her otherwise easygoing personality. Duchess takes cues from the other dogs around her but also has an independent streak. Sometimes she’ll head outside the moment you ask, while other times she’ll decide she’d rather stay put. However, once you clip on a leash, she walks gently and compliantly wherever you lead her—even if it wasn’t the direction she originally wanted to go. Thunderstorms can still make Duchess a little uneasy, but she’s making steady progress and continues to gain confidence. She’s also a dream to groom. Duchess patiently sits while being brushed and seems to enjoy the attention, making grooming sessions easy and relaxing for everyone involved. Overall, Duchess is a loving, adaptable dog who would fit well with a family looking for a companion that can switch effortlessly between playful adventures and quiet cuddle time. Her sweet nature, gentle manners, and affectionate personality make her a joy to have around. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. RUKI IS PENDING ADOPTION on SEPTEMBER 19th!    Meet Miss Ruki! Ruki is a beautiful, happy sable girl who is about 4 years old—and she absolutely loves everyone she meets! ❤️ This sweet girl is a total cuddle bug with her foster mom. She loves snuggling on the sofa and curling up in bed, and she has shown that she can be a very well-behaved house dog. Ruki is friendly with other dogs and enjoys having a playmate, though she would be perfectly happy being your one-and-only, too. She could use a little leash-training, but with her happy, loving personality, she's sure to make great progress with a family willing to help her learn. ✨ Ruki is spayed, healthy, loving, and ready for her forever home! ✨ If you're looking for a sweet, affectionate companion who loves people and is always ready for some cuddles, Miss Ruki may be your girl!If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap, in fact, she'd like nothing better than to cuddle on your lap while watching TV.  Shae would like to be your new BFF. As she did not learn about sharing in school, she would do best as an only dog in the household.  Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe.
