To learn more about Boone, please get in touch with dogs@lostdogrescue.org Boone will be at one of our adoption events this weekend! Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Boone is a senior Coonhound mix who perfectly balances “distinguished gentleman” with “goofy best friend.” This long-snooted guy has plenty of pep and LOVES getting outside to explore—he’s happiest when he’s following his nose and taking in the world around him. He may be a little unsure in brand new situations, but he warms up quickly and is eager to please. Boone is affectionate, loves snuggles, gets along great with his foster siblings, and is overall an easygoing, happy pup who just wants to be part of the fun. As we have gotten to know him, Boone has proven to be equal parts sweet, silly, and full of charm. If you’re looking for a gentle, fun-loving companion with a playful heart, Boone might just be your perfect match.

Visit our event page (https://www.lostdogrescue.org/events/) to see which one—event listings are usually updated on Fridays with attending dogs. Meet April — proof that new beginnings can be the most beautiful. This sweet pit-collie mix hasn’t had the easiest start, but you’d never know it from the way she greets the world — with a wagging tail, a gentle heart, and so much love to give. April is incredibly friendly, the kind of dog who just gets people, and she’s more than ready to leave the past behind and start her next chapter with someone special. She absolutely lights up during playtime — whether it’s a good game of tug-of-war (her favorite!) or tossing around her beloved toys. And when the fun winds down? That’s when April melts into pure cuddle mode, happily soaking up belly scratches like they’re her full-time job. She been seen to get along well with other dogs and seems to be picking up house training, showing just how ready she is to settle into a home of her own. April is resilient, loving, and full of quiet joy. All she needs now is someone to give her the fresh start she deserves

He’s just a puppy and working on his potty training. Rescued from: Virginia Story: We are so happy to have Bill safe and sound in a foster home in the DC area now. Bill is a happy sweet puppy who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and puppies. Bill is just looking for someone to be his new best furend and we know that he will repay them with endless amounts of love and tail wags. Like all puppies, Bill will need an adopter who is committed to setting him up for success by enrolling in obedience training and exercising him both mentally and physically. He will also need love, patience, and socialization in order to thrive! The fee to adopt Bill is $475. That covers the cost of all his vaccines, the collar he’s wearing, his transport to DC and his care in his foster home. He’s up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Meet one of the cutest pups ever,  Brandy.  Whatever you are doing, she is doing. If you are not doing it, she is going to convince you that you should be.  A true teenager with lots of energy and always up for an adventure.  She did well with her foster siblings and anyone else who wants to join them in the back yard for play time. She does well, figures everyone out and adjusts her play style.  Walking is an adventure for her, meeting and greeting everyone, she's just that friendly and eager to meet you.  Brandy is learming that mouthing is for toys and not for getting attention. Give her lots of  exercise and fun and she will soon relax.  She  is a smart girl and will learn fast with  Crates are ok but she really would prefer to stay out of them. We are recommending she be crated when left alone, she is busy and can find toys all through the house.  House training is on track but please keep her on a schedule until she figures out her new environment.  We recommend no snall children because of her energy and herding tendencies. Homes with a backyard and active fur sibling along with plenty of hiking and outdoor time on the weekends is her absolute dream family.  She is fully vetted and around that 6-7 months. Best guess on breed collie mix. And that is a real guess.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Shae is a sweet young lass. She's a big more tentative around new things than her brother, Simon, but warms up quickly. She likes to sit on your lap, in fact, she'd like nothing better than to cuddle on your lap while watching TV.  Shae would like to be your new BFF. As she did not learn about sharing in school, she would do best as an only dog in the household.  Shae comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Shae and her brother, Simon, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). An anonymous donor has become Shae's Guardian Angel, in memory of her wonderful Bosnian street dog, Chloe. Gender:  Female DOB: Approx. 12/1/2023 Current size; 21 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Please contact Kady Hammer (KadyH@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ready to play! RYDER NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!   Name:   Ryder         Best Guess for Breed:  Heeler/Retriever mix   Best Guess for Age: 10bmonths as of July 2026          SEX:    male   Estimated Weight: 49.4 lbs as of 7/12/26 - he is still growing.    Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but are happy to discuss integration techniques with any interested adopters. Because Ryder is shy, he needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show him the ropes.   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home Ryder is Looking For:   A forever home! This cutie is so happy to be safe and is now ready for a family…look he’s so excited to meet you he can’t even sit still for her photos! Because of his young age, he will need plenty of exercise, mental enrichment, and socialization with other dogs. He’d also love some treats and toys and a cozy spot to rest when he gets tired. In return, he promises to be a loving companion for years to come. Do you think Ryder is the one for you?   What My Foster Says About Me: He’s been doing really well in his foster home and has been getting along great with the resident dog, showing that he can be a good companion for another pup. He’s very treat motivated, which makes training easier, and he’s already doing great with potty training. He can be a little timid at first and may need a bit of time to warm up, but once he feels comfortable, his personality really starts to shine. He absolutely loves rubs, cuddles, and will take any chance he can get to give kisses.  Overall, he’s a very sweet, well-mannered puppy who just needs a little patience and love to thrive. Ryder is a sweet pup who is still learning to socialize and build confidence around new people. He can be shy at first and needs a little time to warm up, but once he does, he’s very loving and affectionate.  Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:       The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting and transport from the shelter.    If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
