Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fred is very smart, loving and loyal 4-year-old tricolor border collie mix who unfortunately needs a new home.  He was originally adopted by someone from a shelter in DC.  They were not experienced with the breed and gave him to another family who love him dearly but do not have the time or resources to provide him the attention, exercise and training that he needs and deserves.  After all this change, he is still a very loving dog.  He takes treats gently, he is good on a leash, settles well after outings, and will chill in the house with his person(s). Fred enjoys other dogs; he is playful with all types and sizes. He does well at daycare and at the dog park. His current family loves him very much but are hoping to find an experienced, patient, consistent and loving family or person who understand and have experience with the highly intelligent and active border collie breed.   He is a sensitive dog and needs time to adjust and trust. A quiet/peaceful yet active home environment would be great. He loves sniffy walks and post-walk zoomies, followed by chilling out near his person(s). He is very sweet once comfortable but suffers from separation anxiety and has some fear anxiety with new people, but once he know his person he is very gentle. One of his previous owners worked with a trainer with good success on the separation anxiety and occasional aggression when his boundaries were not honored by a new person, which shows that Fred is willing and able to learn what he needs to in order to be a great canine citizen.  He already knows SIT, LEAVE IT and LETS GO. A family or person who have the time and environment to work with Fred and give him a happy and fulfilling life will be rewarded with a devoted and loving special companion. A trainer reference is available. PLEASE NOTE : THE DOG LISTED IS SHOWN AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION OR FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO NEEDS TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOG. Story
Meet Kobe — a gentle, loyal 4‑year‑old Border Collie mix with a heart as soft as his coat. Kobe is the kind of dog who makes family life sweeter. He’s wonderful with children of all ages, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and has the calm, steady presence that makes him easy to love from the start. He enjoys going outside for walks and fresh air, but his favorite place will always be right by his people. He’s fully potty trained, has never had an accident, and is crate trained with excellent manners. Kobe is neutered, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on all vaccinations and routine care. Kobe just completed all of his treatments after testing heartworm positive. He handled it with his usual gentle spirit, and his adopters will need to continue supporting him by maintaining monthly preventatives. Kobe is looking for a loving home that will give him the affection, patience, and steady companionship he deserves. If you’re hoping for a well‑trained, tender‑hearted dog who will bond deeply with his family, Kobe may be the perfect match. Adoption fee for Kobe is $550. If you’re viewing this on Petfinder and cannot see photos or would like to apply for Kobe, please visit our website: www.frecklesfoundation.org Dogs are up‑to‑date on age‑appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the exact age or breed of any animal in our care. The age and breed listed are based on information provided to us and the animal’s appearance.

Story
Cassava—“Sava” to those who love her—is the kind of dog who quietly steals your heart and then never lets it go. This lovely 3-year-old Border Collie/Basset mix, weighing 34 pounds, is the perfect blend of charm, intelligence, and easygoing companionship.   Sava’s story is one of love and doing the right thing. She was adopted from a local humane society by a young man who adored her, but as life settled in, his long workdays—often 10 to 12 hours at a time—left Sava spending too much time alone. Wanting more for her than he could provide, he searched for help and never gave up until Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in to change the course of her life. Now Sava is ready for her true forever home—and what a gem she is.   She has a beautifully balanced personality: playful when it’s time for fun, but just as happy to relax and cuddle when the day winds down. She enjoys being active and would love regular exercise, but she’s not high-strung or overwhelming. While she’d certainly enjoy having a yard to run in, she’s proven she can adapt to apartment living as long as her physical and mental needs are met. Sava is housebroken and crate trained, and she settles well when crated during longer absences. She’s still polishing her leash skills, but with a little consistency, she’ll be a wonderful walking companion. Like many clever dogs, she has a playful streak—especially when it comes to paper products—so a dog-savvy home setup is always a plus.   When it comes to companionship, Sava checks every box. She’s gentle and loving with children, social and playful with other dogs, and even respectful of cats. Her temperament makes her an easy addition to many types of households.   Sava isn’t just a beautiful dog—she’s the kind of loyal, loving companion who will be by your side through it all, whether you’re out exploring or simply enjoying a quiet evening at home.    If you’ve been searching for a dog who brings together personality, adaptability, and heart, Sava is ready to meet you.   To learn more or request an application, please email: ccrnewengland@gmail.com       PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 24, 2026, 10:09 pm

Story
Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.young boy ISO happily ever after! BALT NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!!     Come meet Balt and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (3/22) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)!               Name:  Balt          Best Guess for Breed:   Border collie and lab mix     Best Guess for Age:  1 year as of February 2026        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight:  39 lbs as of 1/14/26; might have just a bit more to grow   Gets Along With:  Other dogs! We haven't seen him with cats or kids but we are happy to discuss integration techniques with any potential adopters!   Currently Living at:  DC area foster home   Special adoption considerations:   Balt is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident fog who will show him the ropes.    Balt is Looking For:   Balt wants nothing more to trot through life with all the confidence of a well-loved family pet! He hasn't seen nearly enough of the world yet and is eager for sniffy walks, romps, and all the adventures his new humans can dream up. To get there, he needs extra patient and loving humans who understand he is a little shy and needs to experience new environments at his pace. A welcoming resident dog will help show him to dog too!   Most of all, he wants to be safe and loved. In exchange he promises so much love and loyalty. What do you say? Is Balt the one you see by your side? What My Foster Says About Me:  Balt is a very sweet boy who is learning all about the fun things that the world offers outside of the shelter. He absolutely loves toys, sleeping on the couch or the dog bed, and playing with friends. He doesn't pull on the leash but will zigzag in front of you because he just wants to sniff all the smells. He gets along great with my moody dog at home, taking her corrections perfectly when she doesn't want to play. Balt has done great with house breaking and crate training. He can be shy at first with people, but after a few minutes, he will come up to you and give you a kisses and a tail wag. So far, he has been a wonderful work from home buddy and is fast asleep on the dog bed next to my computer desk. I know this guy is eager to find his forever family and show them just how much love he has to give.      Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $460, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations and spay/neuter.
