Story
Minnie is just over one year old and still very much a puppy. PAW has identified her as a Border Collie, but there may be Jack Russell Terrier or other breeds in her make-up. In her foster home, she has two dogs to play with--and she loves to play. She would probably do best in a home where she has another resident dog, and a fenced-in yard where she can run. When she tires out from all that play, she loves to lie in your lap or on your foot. Minnie will "follow you around and will lean into you or attempt to sit on part of you if you are still," says her foster. She wants to be with her person/people all of the time! She trusts her person and will let him/her take things from her that she shouldn't have. Minnie loves her toys and will run around the house with them, chewing them, tossing them in the air, and bringing them to her foster to engage.  She is leash reactive toward dogs, people, and cars, but her foster family is working on leash training with her. She is very smart and motivated by treats, so she's been quick to learn and she wants to please. She is always very friendly and affectionate with everyone when not being held back by a leash. Her housetraining is also improving but may need some work and reinforcement. Like any puppy, she likes to chew but an assortment of hard chew toys in her foster home has kept her occupied and out of trouble. Minnie would do well in a home where she can be walked with regularity and given playtime and training as she is still very much a puppy. Her foster believes that she wold be fine with respectful kids over five-years old. She can be a "bull in a china shop" at times and would possibly step on or knock over smaller ones.  Minnie can be afraid of a quick approach, and needs a stable and calm home, one in which she can feel safe. That being said, she warms up quickly and then sweetly trusts. Minnie has visited the foster's neighbor, who has a cat, and although it was sleeping upstairs Minnie sniffed all of the cat stuff (beds, scratch pads, etc) with casual interest…..far different than the fixed, assertive stance she takes when near the scent of a squirrel, so she may be able to cohabitate with felines, but we are not yet sure. Minnie is a fun dog to be around. She is very agile, and can leap and run, so she is a perfect candidate for agility training. If you want a loving, energetic companion, Minnie is the perfect dog for you. PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC, southern PA region. ##2627837##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Fred is very smart, loving and loyal 4-year-old tricolor border collie mix who unfortunately needs a new home.  He was originally adopted by someone from a shelter in DC.  They were not experienced with the breed and gave him to another family who love him dearly but do not have the time or resources to provide him the attention, exercise and training that he needs and deserves.  After all this change, he is still a very loving dog.  He takes treats gently, he is good on a leash, settles well after outings, and will chill in the house with his person(s). Fred enjoys other dogs; he is playful with all types and sizes. He does well at daycare and at the dog park. His current family loves him very much but are hoping to find an experienced, patient, consistent and loving family or person who understand and have experience with the highly intelligent and active border collie breed.   He is a sensitive dog and needs time to adjust and trust. A quiet/peaceful yet active home environment would be great. He loves sniffy walks and post-walk zoomies, followed by chilling out near his person(s). He is very sweet once comfortable but suffers from separation anxiety and has some fear anxiety with new people, but once he know his person he is very gentle. One of his previous owners worked with a trainer with good success on the separation anxiety and occasional aggression when his boundaries were not honored by a new person, which shows that Fred is willing and able to learn what he needs to in order to be a great canine citizen.  He already knows SIT, LEAVE IT and LETS GO. A family or person who have the time and environment to work with Fred and give him a happy and fulfilling life will be rewarded with a devoted and loving special companion. A trainer reference is available. PLEASE NOTE : THE DOG LISTED IS SHOWN AS A COURTESY TO ANOTHER ORGANIZATION OR FOR AN INDIVIDUAL WHO NEEDS TO FIND A NEW HOME FOR THEIR DOG. Story
Meet Kobe — a gentle, loyal 4‑year‑old Border Collie mix with a heart as soft as his coat. Kobe is the kind of dog who makes family life sweeter. He’s wonderful with children of all ages, gets along beautifully with other dogs, and has the calm, steady presence that makes him easy to love from the start. He enjoys going outside for walks and fresh air, but his favorite place will always be right by his people. He’s fully potty trained, has never had an accident, and is crate trained with excellent manners. Kobe is neutered, microchipped, and up‑to‑date on all vaccinations and routine care. Kobe just completed all of his treatments after testing heartworm positive. He handled it with his usual gentle spirit, and his adopters will need to continue supporting him by maintaining monthly preventatives. Kobe is looking for a loving home that will give him the affection, patience, and steady companionship he deserves. If you’re hoping for a well‑trained, tender‑hearted dog who will bond deeply with his family, Kobe may be the perfect match. Adoption fee for Kobe is $550. If you’re viewing this on Petfinder and cannot see photos or would like to apply for Kobe, please visit our website: www.frecklesfoundation.org Dogs are up‑to‑date on age‑appropriate vaccines and preventatives. Freckles Foundation & Animal Rescue cannot guarantee the exact age or breed of any animal in our care. The age and breed listed are based on information provided to us and the animal’s appearance.

Story
Rex is a young dog who has already lived a lifetime’s worth of hardship—and somehow came out the other side with a gentle soul and an open heart. For much of his first year, Rex lived tied out in the woods with a homeless couple, missing out on everything a puppy should know: safety, structure, and the comfort of belonging. Now, at just barely one year old, he’s finally getting his chance at having a good life that does not include a tieout and living in the woods homeless.    This handsome Corgi mix weighs 25 pounds, with a compact, active build and a few healthy pounds still to gain. He sports the most expressive upright ears, short Corgi legs, a long body, and a gorgeous, fluffy tail reminiscent of a Border Collie. His coat is soft and flowing, and his energy is joyful and contagious once he feels safe. Rex is friendly with other dogs and naturally polite in his interactions. When meeting new people, he approaches gently with a submissive posture, ears back at first—then slowly lifting as his confidence grows. He’s still learning how to walk on a leash and is being introduced to basic commands and manners for the very first time and he’s proving to be a quick learner who genuinely wants to please. Because Rex missed out on early training, he will need an adopter who understands young dogs and enjoys helping one grow into his potential. With consistency and positive guidance, Rex could shine in agility, flyball, or other interactive dog sports. More than anything, he’s a dog who wants to work with his person and be part of a family.  Rex is ready to leave survival behind and step into a life filled with love, guidance, and belonging. If you’re looking for a loyal, family-oriented dog and are willing to help shape his future, Rex may be the one you’ve been waiting for.   To learn more about adopting Rex, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comFebruary 19, 2026, 12:17 am
