Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. *This animal is a part of our “Seniors for Seniors” program where we offer senior adopters an opportunity to adopt an eligible pet at a discounted fee.* Hi, I’m Tedah. I’m a gentle, dignified girl who has been through a lot in my life. I spent time on the streets caring for my puppies all on my own, so now that I’m safe, warm, and well-fed, I’m learning how to truly relax. Every day my sweet personality and quiet confidence continue to shine a little more. I’m completely house trained, very polite with my food, and I don’t chew on anything that isn’t mine. I love every person I meet, walk calmly on a leash, and ride quietly in the car. New situations can make me a bit cautious, but if I trust my humans and they stay by my side, I’m brave enough to follow them anywhere. I’m a mellow, go-with-the-flow kind of girl. Most of my day is spent napping, following my person from room to room, enjoying mealtimes, and soaking up cuddles. I love being invited into your space and will gently tuck my nose under your hand if I’d like a few more pets. If you ask me to move along, I’ll politely do so and settle nearby. I even enjoy being brushed! Toys aren’t really my thing — I’m far too refined for such silliness — but I do enjoy a good meaty bone outside. Because of my past, I need to be the only dog in the home and don’t like sharing food-related items. In return, I promise to be the easiest, sweetest companion you could ask for. When you walk through the door, I’ll sit like a lady and do a tiny tippy-toe dance while I wait for proper greetings. I smile in my sleep, wag my tail in happy circles, and somehow manage to steal the hearts of everyone I meet. I’m a soulful senior lady looking for a soft, quiet place to land — a peaceful home with patient, loving people who will cherish me as much as I’ll cherish them. If you’re ready for a calm, affectionate best friend with a heart full of gratitude, I’m ready to fill your life with warmth and gentle love.  Adopting a senior dog is like getting a vintage car – it comes with character, a few extra quirks, and might need a bit more maintenance. Expect occasional tune ups at the vet for oil changes (aka meds), and embrace the fact that those 'normal lumps and bumps' are just part of the well-earned charm package! Ruff Start will share all known health information with adopters and rec ommendations to keep your senior dog in top shape. Tedah is from a local impound.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus taxMeet Finn Finn is an 8-year-old, 50-lb mellow guy who loves napping, short walks, and hanging out near his people. He enjoys toys (especially if treats are involved!), can be cuddly, and also appreciates his personal space. Finn is anxious around loud noises and reactive when he sees other dogs, so he’s looking for a quiet home where he can be the only pet. He hasn’t lived with cats but has ignored chickens. He greets people calmly outside the home and politely “announces” visitors with a bark. He does best with a predictable routine and would thrive in a home where someone is around more often—his current home’s 12-hour shifts are just too hard on him. Respectful children are fine. Finn is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and eats a prescription urinary diet. If you’re looking for a loyal, laid-back companion, Finn is ready to meet you.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Long Distance Adoptions: Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We require a meet of the pet prior to adoption, which means coming to MARS.  We do not transport to potential adopters. How to learn more about a pet: Complete the application (click on the button above) to start our process for adopting or fostering a MARS Pet. Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Post Adoption: Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. We highly recommend Pet Insurance.  Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. Pet Breeds: The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility or Shelter partner. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess without knowing a pet’s full history. //

Story
Belle was adopted as a young dog by my brother and his partner. His partner died recently and my brother is in assisted living. Belle was a loved and dear pet. She’s very sweet. When we first got her, she had 3 accidents in the house. She also had accidents while sleeping which has been controlled by medication (proin er74). There have been no daytime problems since using diapers and crating. We are unable to keep her because we travel out of the country for 1-2 months at a time.

Story
Fletcher is the perfect blend of playfulness and calm charm. He’s a sweet, cuddly puppy who loves being close to his people just as much as he enjoys exploring the world around him. This handsome boy is great with kids and has a gentle, affectionate nature that makes him an easy companion. Fletcher is smart and curious, already showing signs that he’ll be quick to learn and eager to please. He’s also a little brave adventurer — confident enough to try new things, but happy to come back for snuggles afterward. Personality highlights: Playful but settles nicely Calm, sweet, and cuddly Intelligent and observant Brave and confident for his age Kid-friendly and affectionate Fletcher would thrive in a home that can offer him love, basic training, and age-appropriate playtime as he grows. With his wonderful temperament and good looks, he’s the kind of puppy who will grow into a loyal, loving family dog. Fletcher would love a home ready for puppy fun, laughs, and lots of love. If you’re looking for a pup who brings joy, snuggles, and tail wags wherever he goes, Fletcher can’t wait to meet you! Fletcher is estimated to be 3.5 months old and 15 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested. If you are interested in meeting this dog please complete the adoption application on our website at https://safehandsrescue.org/adoption-process/ and then we can contact you about setting up a meeting. Story
Hi there, I’m Felix! My foster Mom says I’m super handsome with all my colors. I’m very soft and love to be pet too. I have the cutest white feet! I love all people, even kids, but I haven’t met any toddlers yet. I love dogs of all sizes - I play very well with the giant resident dog and my 3 other siblings that are at this foster home (2 others aren’t here). I’m adventurous, playful, curious, cuddly, funny, loving and likes to play with toys when he’s comfortable. Felix sleeps overnight in an oversized wire kennel which he’s doing great at and is also learning to be kenneled while we’re at work/school. He’s ready to start training and learning some new stuff as he loves the attention and is food motivated. Felix is estimated to be 3.5 months old and 17 lbs. Since we don’t know the dog’s actual genetics, this is just a guess on breed and size when grown. All dogs have had a vet examination, are up to date on all vaccinations, have been given dewormer and heartworm prevention. Dogs over 7 months have been heartworm tested.
