Hi! My name is Jimmy Chew and I am a happy-go-lucky boy, with a great personality, inquisitive nature, and playful energy, oh and I am handsome if I do say so myself. I am a Collie born approx 10/4/24. My favorite things are balls, ropes, stuffed toys and while I would love for you to play with me I am also very happy to just play with these things by myself too. Some of the toys get a little worse for wear with me around so my mom also gives me plenty of chews to keep me busy. I do pretty good in my crate, but I will bark if I can hear you walking around in the house and you are keeping me out of the fun. I sleep well in there and have been good when left alone. I am doing well at going potty outside although once in a while I get a little over excited and leak a little, I am working on that. I am underfoot on a walk but I am already improving. And I love zooming around my yard outside- I literally run circles around my mom and foster brothers. And I like to swim! I’m good with kids, love other dogs, and am untested with cats. Petey is a 30-lb Border Collie mix—or a small dog with a big personality! At 2-years-old, he's a sassy younger sibling to his foster brother Max, always riling Max up in a hilarious way. Petey loves to taunt his brother with his hilariously cute "tough guy" growl when they play, making sure Max knows it's out of love, so they can end up in a classic cuddle puddle. GUST AND HIS BEST FRIENDS PLAN TO BE AT A MEET AND GREET SUNDAY DECEMBER 7 12:30 -2:30 AT PET EVOLUTION ON 1074 GRAND IN ST. PAUL. COME AND CUDDLE AND MAYBE GO HOME WITH A FRIEND FOR THE HOLIDAYS. Gust and his siblings were surrendered to PUP because the owner, who lived in a remote area, could not afford the pups and felt she could not find suitable adopters. The mommy dog is a much loved 30# ‘low rider’ with short legs (pictured). A partner organization agreed to pay for her to be spayed if PUP found homes for the puppies. The owner did a good job of socializing the pups and they arrived in good health. They are well socialized, playful and are enjoying the good life. Gust looks like he is going to be a bit taller than some of his siblings and we expect he will be a mid-sized dog when he is full grown. We did DNA testing on Gust but the results won’t be in until mid December. Dogs from the area who have DNA testing often have 20 or more breeds and nearly always have some shepherd, husky, cattle dog, and even the largest pooches have a bit of Chihuahua. We strongly suspect Gust has some Doxi and maybe some cattle dog in this mix. (Rumor has it that there is a male cattle dog on a neighboring ranch.) The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog. Puppy has been vet checked, (he weighed 7.6# on 12-1) vaccinated and de-wormed. He will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. His required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that he be altered at 6 months. If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. We are pretty slow at responding to e-mail. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
