Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! I'm Rhys, a sweet and cuddly Great Pyr Mix. I'm a handsome boy, weighing in at 45 pounds and still a puppy, so I'm growing and learning every day! At home, I'm all about the cuddles. Whether it's on the couch, bed, your lap (even though I'm a bit big for that), or basking in a sunny spot, I'm happiest when I'm close to my humans. I'm also quite playful with other dogs – I love a good game of chase and splashing around in a kiddy pool. I might be a bit clumsy, but I've mastered the art of tucking and rolling when I tumble – hee hee! Belly rubs are my favorite, and I'm always ready to give you lots of kisses when you need them. I'm almost potty trained – just need to stick to a good schedule. I'm getting better with my crate, too. I might bark a bit at first, but I settle down quickly. I'm still working on my leash skills, but I go for daily walks and enjoy them. I know some basic commands like "sit" and "down." I'm great with other dogs of all sizes, and while I love having doggy friends, I could be happy as an only dog too, as long as I'm not left alone for long periods. In fact, I would thrive with other dogs in my forever home so hope you have some playmates for me. All in all, I'm a low-energy, affectionate pup looking for my forever home where I can continue to grow, learn, and share all my love. Could that be with you? *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. If you are looking for a best friend, please fill out the puppy application. The more info you include on the application the better so I can find a good match for my forever home. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.  T his puppy requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void.  We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion.   Puppy Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee.  Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the puppy. Our goal is place puppies in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the puppy, we will not approve your application. We accept applications for puppies until we have a candidate that meets all of the requirements needed for the specific puppy and they have been contacted to review the adoption process as well as agree to all of the terms to move forward. ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. YOU CAN HELP: Not able to foster or adopt right now? Please consider sponsoring an Underdog. Your donation will help us buy dog food and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi! I'm Cassian and just like my namesake I am as handsome as can be. My foster mama says I have the softest and most beautiful fur of all of my siblings. I love every single toy in my foster home and love to play with them by myself. My people said that I am so goofy with toys and don't have a favorite because I love them all. It is very important that I have a biiiggg toybox in my forever home - hee hee! My brothers and I can get a little rowdy together so I do also love to play and wrestle with other doggies. But when it is nap time - watch out couch because here I come! I also love snoozing with my people in the hammock in the yard.  My people said I am a very smart boy and learning all the important puppy skills like potty training, leash training and crate training. I don't need a fence in my forever home if you promise to keep working with me on leash training.  Ready for a cute puppy that is ready for adventures! I love car rides so I know we will go lots of places together! I can't wait to meet you! *I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $350 plus taxHazel aka Peggy Lee aka 'Shawty' when we're Joking around, is a smart and spirited mix of maybe beagle, herding breed, and judging solely by some of her entertaining vocalizations, sea lion and Tasmanian devil. She seems to be always thinking and noticing. She may come off as a little standoffish at first, but as she warms up she loves a good belly rub and snuggle. She loves car rides and adventures, and would probably be a happy boating dog.    Her place at night is at the foot of my bed, but only after my other foster modeled the 'art' of co-sleeping with people for her. Hazel needs the company of another interactive dog in her home to help her know how to trust people. She is overly obsessive of cats, and very vocal, so she needs a cat-free home. Hazel really is a special kind of dog who is just what someone out there is seeking. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $450 plus taxHi! My name is Duncan and I am a spunky boy! It did take me a while to get to be this comfortable and spunky though. I was pretty nervous for almost a full week in my new foster home, but with the help of my foster doggie brothers and the patience of my foster parents, I've learned that humans aren't scary and hands can be gentle. I play really well with the other dogs and I like to play wrestle, chase, and tug-o-war. My foster home has these potty bells by the stairs and I'm supposed to ring them when I need to go, but I'm still learning. I just get so excited when I'm playing, that I forget! One place I never potty though is my kennel. I like to keep my kennel clean! I'm really good at going into my kennel when the humans in my house leave for work, and I also sleep in my kennel at night. Just say, 'kennel!' and I'll walk right in. I get a biscuit every time! The humans say I have to sleep in my kennel until I'm potty trained. When I'm out of my kennel and playing, I like to run and give kisses to my humans! They let me snuggle and play on the bed and getting belly rubs is amazing! Sometimes I fall asleep in the human bed at my foster mom's feet and I have to get carried to the kennel at bed time. It's important to know that my past is not fully known, and I do get nervous around new people and new places and I take a while to warm up. I stayed at a vacation foster for a couple nights and I hid behind the living room chair when we were inside - I just wasn't sure! But if you choose me to be your forever, just know I need some time but I will be your best friend once I know for sure you're safe. Speaking of safe, it would be best for me to have a doggie sibling to learn from and help me feel comfortable! I'm still kinda scared of the leash, but a harness could work much better for me! I have cat siblings at my foster home, and I'm usually OK with them, but I do like to chase sometimes and try to play with them like I do the dogs. If my new family has cats, just remember to be patient with me as I'm still a baby and learning all things dog. I just know I'll be a great addition to your family! Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Hi! I'm Prissy. I'm from Alabama! From her foster; Prissy loves to give kisses. She is not much of a cuddler and hasn't shown any interest in hopping up on the couch or bed. She likes to play and would love a playmate. I would recommend dog-savvy cats for this reason as she will try to play with them. Prissy is a pretty quiet girl, but will occasionally bark when playing. She loves being outside where she can run freely, so a fenced yard would be her dream. Prissy is kennel-trained and potty-trained. She has shown an interest in chewing shoes, but we have redirected her with different toys, and she no longer bothers them now. She is adjusting to being on a leash and doesn't try to slip out, but will need more training. Training her may require a little extra work as she likes treats but doesn't always respond to them.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is Bannon.  I was born somewhere around Christmas in 2020, am a Collie/Shepherd mix, and weigh about 55lbs. Another interesting fact about me is I weaned 11 puppies!   I am working on walking on a leash, but my preference is a large fenced back yard. I need exercise, so please plan to take me on long walks/runs or a good playtime in the backyard a couple times a day.     I have a few things that I am working on. One is I'm mouthy with people. I'm not trying to bite you, but my excitement overtakes me sometimes. My foster family is working on me getting a stuffie when I start to go over threshold. So, having a lot of toys around for me is important to keep on this training. I also am jumpy. So, probably no small kiddos for me. Both behaviors are common in younger dogs and tend to subside with constant training .   I am crate trained when my people are home so if I truly need a break, that is a safe place for me to rest. When you are away, I am not a huge fan of the crate but have not ever broken out of it. I do bark a little in the crate, especially when I know you are home.     The biggest consideration a potential adopter for me should have is my boundless energy. Being a running partner would be a dream come true for me. Otherwise, a fenced in yard where I can endlessly play fetch would be wonderful. I'm also very smart, so if you're looking for a dog to impressively train or teach a job to, I'm your gal!   One other thing to note is that I'm selective with my dog friends. It is probably best that I am an only dog in the home due to this. I also have a bit of a prey drive so no cats or small critters in my house as well. Do you have a home that can give me all the attention I need!? If so, please apply! NOTE: Bannon tested positive for Lymes Disease. This is a tick borne illness that is relatively common in dogs who live in states where ticks are more prevalent. Most dogs live their whole lives with no issues or flare ups caused by these diseases. It is important that Bannon's adopters know what symptoms to watch for when a flare-up occurs so she can be put on meds to keep it at bay. The treatment for this is a 30 day course of Doxycycline, a relatively inexpensive antibiotic. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Breed and temperament determination:  Wags & Whiskers Animal Rescue attempts to determine breed and temperament using a combination of looks, information provided to us at intake, and our experience with the animal while in our Rescue.  We do not guarantee this determination. Location: Jackson, MN Hi, I'm Cristina! I'm a loving pup. I love the chew on bones and toys. I'm still working on potty training. I like to go on walks and pull occasionally when walking. I like to play with other dogs and get along well with them. Cats, on the other hand I like to chase and don't quite know how to get along with. I'm doing well with crate training but like to wake up early morning and bark as I need to go outside. ----- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Location: Murdo, SD Hello! My name is Phoenix! I'm a happy go lucky puppy who loves to play with toys! I love my foster brothers and sister! Big dogs, small dogs, cats - I love all kinds. My foster mom says I'm a sweet boy! I love to snuggle on the couch and hang out with my people! Rolling around in the grass with a toy in my mouth is my favorite pastime! I'm a little nervous so I'd do best with a family who understands I need a little time to relax and get to know you before I come out of my shell. I'd do best in a home with older kids as I like my space. I'm doing great with crate training and I am 99% potty trained!! My foster mom says I have such good manners for a little guy! -------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Location: New Ulm, MN Hi, my name is Pierre! What's your name? What are you doing? Where are you going? Can I come? Do you want to be friends? As you can probably tell I have a lot of energy. I like to get up early in the morning and go outside. My Foster Mom (FM) doesn't go for runs but we do walk every day and I love it! I would probably do really well with an active family or someone that likes to run. I also love to roughhouse with the dogs that already live here and would be a great addition to a house that already has a dog or two. I love to play with toys but it is more fun when I have someone to play with. I like to cuddle and give kisses. FM and her daughters say I don't know what personal space is but I am just trying to be loving and close to my humans. I might be a little shy at first, but I love humans so much I have a tendency to tinkle when I see them and get excited or when I am nervous, but I will probably grow out of that. Speaking of which, FM doesn't think I am going to be very big, but I may get tall because I am all legs. I am doing really good with potty training and only have the occasional accident when no one lets me out in time. My kennel is my safe space. I like to hide in it when things get too loud or the vacuum comes out. I also just hang out in it during the day when there isn't much going on. I hide things in my kennel too. Toys, chews, the humans shoes, random scraps of paper, pretty much whatever I can find. But... I am not fully kennel trained. I sleep with the humans at night and I don't like it when they shut the kennel and lock me in. So, as I have already said I like people. The young humans are teenagers but I seem to do good with all ages. I also do pretty good with the cats that live here. I want to play with them but they usually don't want to play with me so I respect their boundaries. I am pretty quiet most of the time. I only talk when I need to go outside or I have big feelings I need to share. -------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Story
Elle is a 7 year old mix weighing 40 lbs. She's an energetic girl who loves a walk, hike, or ride in the car. She's not always everyone's best friend right away, but she gets there. Elle has a strong prey drive that sees her at odds with squirrels on a regular basis. If Elle could climb trees to chase them, she would. Elle doesn't always have the best reactions to other dogs. It's entirely hit or miss between barking at, ignoring, or playing with other pups. Usually as she gets more time with them, she gets more relaxed and friendly. She loves to hunt for treats, play tug of war, and hide and seek. Lounging on a couch or comfy chair is also high on her list. Unfortunately that energy isn't always in check and with a new born in our house, we're worried that an accident is unavoidable.

Hi, I’m Alaska! I was surrendered because the older dog in the home didn’t like me. I don’t know why though cause I have lots of friends at the rescue already! I’m house trained, crate trained, walk great on a leash and I know sit, lay down and shake! I’m a smart and sweet, soft and fluffy little gal with so much love to give.I’m 5 months old and weigh 30 pounds, and I’m like a heeler mixed with a little shepherd or something. I’m not sure, but I do know I have the best puppy dog eyes and I’m not afraid to use them! I absolutely love people, and stick right with you.
