Story
Meet Capri! Capri is a playful energetic and social 1 year old Collie/Terrier/Pit Bull mix! Capri loves to play outside with her four fur-foster siblings. She LOVES playtime, so furry companions who can keep up with her playful puppy nature are preferred! Other than that, Capri has been the perfect house guest! She's crate trained, house trained, and sleeps through the night, but is an excellent watchdog. She will bark to alert you if a person or another pup is approaching. Exercise is a must for this little lady! She is completely leash trained and loves going on walks with her foster family. As far as new friends go, Capri warms up quickly and absolutely loves to be pet endlessly. Capri would make an excellent companion for just about any family or household! She can't wait to meet you! Capri is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $425. All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Story
Meet Eggnog! Eggnog is a 4 month old, 20-lb Collie/Terrier Mix who loves kisses and cuddles, lots of naps, playing with her chewy toys and being close to her people. Eggnog's superpowers include being a fast learner (learned three commands on her first week in foster care, such as "Potty," "Come," and "Kennel") and learning new tricks! She LOVES learning new tricks, and is currently working on how to play fetch! Eggnog gets along well with people and with other dogs (she loves to play chase and wrestle with her brother, Espresso). She is still unsure about walking on a leash in the city and loud car noises, but loves greeting people with a playful bark. As a bonus, she is house trained and crate trained, going outside for "potty with no indoor accidents or in the crate, as long as she is taken out regularly. More of Eggnog's favorites? She loves to please and she loves to be rewarded for a good job, especially with hot dogs and Milk bones! Some of her favorite things are her hard teething bones, rubber balls, a Kong stuffed with frozen chicken bites, chew toys, and food puzzles. She loves to take naps on her human's lap too. If you're looking for the biggest lover and companion who will greet you with full body kisses every time you walk in the door and loves spooning and snuggling at night and at naptime, she might be your perfect match. Eggnog is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. Her adoption fee is $500. Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, House-trained, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
Allegra!  What a beautiful sounding name!  And what does it mean? And why did her foster give her the name Allegra?  Because it describes this beautiful pup so well!  Joyful, Happy, Active!!!  Our Allegra is a Collie/Lab mix who wears her short black and white coat so well that people stop just to look at her!  Allegra is around 4 months old and, although she presently weighs between 20 and 25 pounds now, she’ll mature to between 50 and 60 pounds.  She gets along well with other dogs, kids, and her foster’s cat! Allegra!  What a wonderful girl!  (posted 1/23/24, TN)  **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  March 25, 2024, 8:46 pm

Story
Meet our fantastic four! Kimmie, Serenity, Marvel, and Vada are all 15-week-old Collie and Lab mixes. These four girls weigh 14-17 puppy pounds, and we expect them to mature to around 50 pounds. These playful pups are always ready to chase a ball or simply cuddle up for a nap. They all have medium-length coats, but Kimmie wears a white coat with tan spots, Vada wears a tricolor coat, and Serenity and Marvel both wear silky white coats. These gals get along well with other dogs and cats. Their friendly demeanor tells us that they will make excellent family pets. Adopt one of these beauties and add a dose of unconditional love and endless fun to your life.
