Story
Meet Ellie, the gorgeous 4-year-old Corgi/Collie Mix. She weighs 25 lbs fully grown and is on the smaller side of medium sized dogs. She has the most adorable low-rider body. She is so loving and obedient and has quickly become a favorite here at Home for Good Dog Rescue. With her adorable face, bubbly personality, and quirky demeanor she is as close to perfect as a dog can get! She was rescued from a house in Swainsboro Georgia covered in fleas and we are so glad we found her. She genuinely puts a smile on anyone’s face who meets her. Ellie would do well with any family, especially with kids. She will make a loyal companion for years to come. We would recommend a home with a fenced yard so she can run around and play as she is an active and curious dog. Ellie has a lot of love to give and would make a wonderful addition to any home. Don’t miss the chance to provide this wonderful dog with the loving home she so richly deserves. Ellie is eagerly waiting for you! Her playful personality and sweet nature are sure to bring a ray of sunshine into your life. With her adorable face and wagging tail, she’s bound to capture your heart instantly. Come meet the beautiful Ellie and welcome your new best friend into your home! Ellie is spayed, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped. Given the conditions Ellie originated from, upon rescue, she tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Ellie is receiving the treatment she so desperately needs. *Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.* **Please note: completing an "adoption inquiry" via Adopt-a-pet/Petfinder does not constitute an HFG Dog Rescue adoption application. All adoption applications must be completed on www.hfgdr.org** HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life! In order to apply for adoption and set up an individual meet and greet with one of our dogs, please visit us at www.hfgdr.org. Find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HomeForGoodDogRescue.

Story
My name is Dee Dee (I also go by Diesel - kind of funny for a somewhat dainty lady like me but I still like it!) I am the coolest dog. I know I look black in some pictures but I am a very dark brown color. ASCZ thinks I am about 9 years young. I have some nice energy though for my age. I am a pretty chill dog but I also have some pep to my step in shorter spurts. I am about 50 labs and at my ideal weight - yay!! I have worked so hard to get there - you should have seen me before! I love to chase squirrels and birds in the yard and I love going on walks. I am good on the leash! I enjoy attention and will lean into you for petting or give you kisses! I am not a velcro dog, but I am happiest when I am near my people; so I am "lovingly independent." I am housebroken, really well-behaved in the house, I don't counter surf and I can be a couch potato. I love to wrapped up in blankets which is now known as the 'Diesel Burrito.' My foster says my 'sit' is great and I now know 'lie down.' I have become a great listener and can chill out now that I know my routine. I actually really like other dogs but I have always lived as an only so I am not really good at reading signals - ha! I will try and try to play and if a dog isn't having it, I don't get it super quickly. But, I sure do like them and get excited if there is an opportunity to interact. Kids - I am very gentle - I am spent some time with kids 2 to 6 and did really well. I just asked them for pets and belly rubs! We are pretty sure I would chase cats! We have my DNA test - I am a combination of so many breeds including GSD, Staffie, Collie, Rat Terrier! AMAZING! I know I am not a spring chicken but I really am a fabulous girl that has all the great qualities of a dog without being a full on puppy. I would love a family to live out my golden years.

Story
Meet Capri! Capri is a playful energetic and social 9 month old Collie/Terrier/Pit Bull mix puppy! Capri loves to be outside playing with her 4 fur-foster siblings. She can play relentlessly at times so the older dogs don't always appreciate the adorable puppy energy. Other than that, Capri has been the perfect house guest! She's crate trained and sleeps through the night, but is an excellent watchdog. She will bark to alert you if a person or another pup is approaching. Thanks to her fosters mom supervision she is almost completely housebroken. She will even get your attention in her crate to let you know if she needs to go! Exercise is a must for this little lady! Her foster family is working on her leash training now that she's all up to date on her vaccines! As far as new friends go, Capri is shy at first and a little skittish but NEVER aggressive in any way. Capri would make an excellent companion for just about any family or household! She can't wait to meet you! Capri is currently being fostered in Staten Island, NY. The adoption fee for this animal is $500. To adopt this pet, please visit https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt All of our animals come spayed or neutered, fully up to date on vaccinations, including rabies (if age appropriate) and Bordetella, are microchipped, heartworm negative, current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention, dewormed, and treated for any ailments found upon veterinary examination. The adoption fee covers a portion of these services, and makes it possible for us to continue rescuing animals. For more information on the adoption fees and the adoption process, please complete our adoption application here: https://www.louieslegacy.org/adopt - an application allows us to get to know your family better so we can assess whether the animal you are interested in is a good match for your home. An application does not obligate you to adopt. Please understand that due to the volume of applications some animals receive, we are unable to contact all applicants. If your application is considered a good fit for the animal you are interested in, or even a different pet, a volunteer will give you a call as soon as possible. We are a foster based rescue and do not have a shelter location where animals can be seen during the week. Please see our Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/LouiesLegacy for our weekly adoption album if you are interested in meeting an animal in person. Not all animals attend every adoption event, please check our Facebook page for animal event times and locations before you make a trip to meet a specific animal.

Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Riley, thought to be born in January or February of 2015 is a tricolor, smooth coat collie/border collie mix with some brindle markings on his legs. He has experienced 2 failed adoptions. He was adopted from us when he was about 6 months old and was returned to us 3 years later when the male member of the adoptive family, who had Alzheimer’s, became abusive toward him. In time he began developing his self-confidence again and began to lose his fear of men. Even though he was still somewhat leery of men he didn’t know, he would actually seek attention from men with whom he was familiar. He got along well with the dogs in his foster home but he behaved aggressively toward any new foster dog that periodically come in. He is not good with cats as he showed aggression toward the clinic cat at our vet’s office. Riley was adopted a second time, but after a year of trying different techniques to manage Riley’s difficult behaviors his second adopter felt that she could no longer handle him and once again Riley was returned to us. He left us weighing 55 pounds and returned, markedly overweight, at 78 pounds. He is now back to a healthy weight. Riley has had extensive training. He is quite smart and learns quickly. He rides well in a car and walks well on a leash unless he meets a dog while out on the walk, in which case he will pull and act aggressively. Riley is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is being kept on heartworm and flea and tick prevention to maintain his good health. Riley is currently in Arkansas. His adoption donation is $415 which includes the $165 transport fee. If you would like to adopt Riley, the first step in the adoption process is to fill out an online adoption application. You can find a copy of that application here. We sometimes receive a lot of interest on an animal and can't always reply to each email in a timely manner. An application does not obligate you to adopt from us, but it does show that you are serious about the adoption process. Please remember we are all volunteers. After you submit your application, please allow a few days for a volunteer to review your application. During this time your vet reference will be checked and a volunteer with determine if it is the best match for you and the animal. Applications are not approved on a first come, first serve basis. We match up the best home for the animal, so even if the pet has other applications, this does not mean he/she will be adopted to that home. Once your application has been approved a volunteer with contact you to set up a phone interview. This is the perfect time for you to ask any questions you have about the adoption process and the animal you are interested in

Story
Give a warm welcome to Jeb, a fun and fluffy 5-year old, 42-pound German Shepherd/Collie mix who is every bit as sweet as he is handsome. Jeb adores other dogs and he never met a human he didn’t want to befriend, including small children. Everyone is welcome into Jeb’s orbit. Jeb’s number one favorite activity is playing with other pooches; his second favorite activity is being pet and loved on. A smoochy casanova, Jeb clearly knows how to love, but he also knows how to have a doggone good time. The best combination of two winning traits! Jeb is housebroken and is thrilled whenever it’s time for a walk. He trots like a gentleman on a leash, never pulling ahead and always letting you lead the way. He knows the commands sit and come, and he’s been working on lay down and paw. He’s a big fan of treats, so teaching this fella new words and phrases should be fairly easy and very rewarding. With a medium-range energy level, Jeb can go from couch potato to playful pup at any given time. You set the tone and he will follow your lead. Jeb likes to run around, play with toys, chase balls, and roam around the yard. He’s also a great napper and a cozy Netflix buddy. He’s the perfect guy for a date night at home. Jeb wants nothing more than to shower you with love and give you as many kisses as your skin is willing to withstand. His love knows no bounds, and his appreciation for your kindness and loyalty will be paid back triple-fold. If you think Jeb would be a good fit for you, don’t wait too long to take him home. He’s beyond special and he’s ready now!
