Foster Homes Needed! Do you have time and room in your life for a foster dog? http://www.muttloverescue.org/foster.html *****************   Meet one of the cutest pups ever,  Brandy.  Whatever you are doing, she is doing. If you are not doing it, she is going to convince you that you should be.  A true teenager with lots of energy and always up for an adventure.  She did well with her foster siblings and anyone else who wants to join them in the back yard for play time. She does well, figures everyone out and adjusts her play style.  Walking is an adventure for her, meeting and greeting everyone, she's just that friendly and eager to meet you.  Brandy is learming that mouthing is for toys and not for getting attention. Give her lots of  exercise and fun and she will soon relax.  She  is a smart girl and will learn fast with  Crates are ok but she really would prefer to stay out of them. We are recommending she be crated when left alone, she is busy and can find toys all through the house.  House training is on track but please keep her on a schedule until she figures out her new environment.  We recommend no snall children because of her energy and herding tendencies. Homes with a backyard and active fur sibling along with plenty of hiking and outdoor time on the weekends is her absolute dream family.  She is fully vetted and around that 6-7 months. Best guess on breed collie mix. And that is a real guess.  **BECAUSE OF OUR REQUIREMENT FOR A HOME VISIT, WE ARE ONLY ABLE TO ADOPT TO HOMES IN THE NORTHERN VA / MARYLAND / DC METRO AREA** We have adoption events EVERY SATURDAY from 12-3 p.m. Please note that not all dogs can attend every event, so if you are interested in meeting a particular dog, please complete a no-obligation application on our website at http://www.muttloverescue.org/application.html OR write to adopt@muttloverescue.org. Story
Meet Duffy — a gorgeous young collie with a bright smile, a playful spirit, and so much love to give to the right family. Born on October 13, 2024, Duffy is still very much a puppy at heart. At home with the people and dogs he knows, he is affectionate, silly, and incredibly loving. He adores snuggling on the sofa, handing out enthusiastic kisses, and spending his days playing with his canine friends. He would absolutely thrive in a home with another young, playful dog and a large fenced yard where he can run, wrestle, and burn off his youthful energy. Duffy is also a smart and well-mannered boy. He is neutered, housebroken, well trained, and generally a wonderful house companion — though he does occasionally enjoy “redecorating” with any paper products he can find. Like many young dogs, he’s still discovering what counts as a toy! What Duffy truly needs, though, is a patient and understanding adopter. New people and unfamiliar environments can make him nervous, and he tends to express that uncertainty by barking. He is not aggressive at all, but he does need time, slow introductions, and consistency in order to feel safe and comfortable. Once he trusts you, his sweet and loyal personality shines through beautifully. Duffy is not the kind of dog who will walk into a new home and instantly act like he’s lived there forever. He’s the kind of dog whose trust is earned — and for the right person, that bond will be incredibly rewarding. Watching him grow in confidence and blossom into the happy, loving companion he wants to be is something very special. He’s also going to be absolutely stunning as he matures. Already tall and handsome, Duffy’s full collie coat is still coming in, and he is only getting more beautiful with age. Duffy is looking for a calm but active home, a playful dog companion, and people who understand that some sensitive dogs simply need a little extra time and patience. In return, he’ll give endless affection, loyalty, laughter, and love. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450. This fee helps us to cover (and sometimes only partially cover) the expense of providing each dog with a Health Exam, Rabies/DHPP vaccines, Heartworm Test, Heartworm Preventative, Flea & Tick Protection, Microchip, Neuter/Spay, a Bath and any other medical needs.  Thank you for your consideration in adopting a collie in need!!! Story
is an incredibly sweet, gentle girl with a wonderful balance of playful energy and calm companionship. She loves spending time with people, happily soaking up pets and affection, and she’s just as content relaxing by your side as she is joining in the fun. One of Duchess’s favorite things is food! She has an excellent appetite, eats enthusiastically, and seems to have a very high metabolism. Mealtime is definitely one of the highlights of her day. When she’s with other dogs, Duchess enjoys running and playing. Most of the time she’s calm and mellow, but every so often she’ll surprise you by springing into the air with all four feet off the ground before taking off in pursuit of her playmates. That playful burst of excitement is always fun to watch and perfectly complements her otherwise easygoing personality. Duchess takes cues from the other dogs around her but also has an independent streak. Sometimes she’ll head outside the moment you ask, while other times she’ll decide she’d rather stay put. However, once you clip on a leash, she walks gently and compliantly wherever you lead her—even if it wasn’t the direction she originally wanted to go. Thunderstorms can still make Duchess a little uneasy, but she’s making steady progress and continues to gain confidence. She’s also a dream to groom. Duchess patiently sits while being brushed and seems to enjoy the attention, making grooming sessions easy and relaxing for everyone involved. Overall, Duchess is a loving, adaptable dog who would fit well with a family looking for a companion that can switch effortlessly between playful adventures and quiet cuddle time. Her sweet nature, gentle manners, and affectionate personality make her a joy to have around. If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Story
Handsome, playful, and full of personality, Zane is a young boy who's ready to find a family of his own! Zane loves to run and show off his joyful zoomies around the yard. He's an active, fun-loving dog who enjoys playtime and would love a home where he can stretch his legs and be part of the family's adventures. When it comes to mealtime, Zane is a dream—he's a great eater with no food issues. He's also crate trained, housebroken, and comes when called, making him an easy companion to have in the home. Zane does enjoy playing with other dogs, but he can be selective about his canine friends, especially during first introductions. Because of this, we believe he would be happiest as the only dog in his new home, where he can soak up all the love and attention for himself. Overall, Zane is a very nice boy with a sweet nature and so much love to give. He's looking for a family that will appreciate his playful spirit, continue his training, and make him a cherished member of the household. Could Zane be the missing piece of your family? He can't wait to meet you!If you are interested in rescuing a collie, please complete this short adoption questionnaire. Our standard adoption fee is $450.
