Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Leona! Leona is a 1-year-old, 54 lb Collie/Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter. With her stunning, fox-like features and expressive face, she’s as beautiful as she is full of personality! Leona is smart, sweet, loving, and a little silly — but she also comes with a big dose of energy! This active girl is always ready for adventure and will need a home that can keep up with her physically and mentally. Hiking, exploring, training, and staying busy are right up her alley. She does well with other dogs and enjoys playtime, though she can be a bit bossy and forward in her play style. Leona likes to play rough and can take on a bit of a “leader” role, so she’ll do best with dogs who can match her energy and confidence. She is also strong and still working on her manners, so continued training and guidance will be important. Because busy environments can be overstimulating for her, Leona would do best in a home outside of dense city living — somewhere she can have space, structure, and a consistent routine to help her thrive. With her intelligence and eagerness, Leona has so much potential to be an incredible companion for someone with working breed experience and who’s ready to invest in her training and give her the active lifestyle she craves. If you’re looking for a beautiful, high-energy adventure partner with a big personality, Leona might be your girl! Leona is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
Meet Willow! The sweetest shadow you’ll ever have! Willow is a gentle, 10 month old girl weighing about 38 pounds. She has a beautiful black coat, with a patch of white on her chest and adorable speckled toes. She’s a calm, loving soul who settles easily into a calm home life and just wants to be close to her person. This little lady is fully crate trained, wonderfully polite, and loves nothing more than curling up on the couch or quietly dozing under your desk while you work from home. Willow can be a bit timid at first, but she warms up quickly and soon becomes your loyal companion. Once she trusts you, she’ll follow you everywhere with her signature, soft, sweet presence. Willow gets along with other calm dogs, enjoys being outdoors, and—being young—would make the perfect adventure buddy for someone who loves exploring. Whether you’re heading out for a weekend hike or simply relaxing at home, Willow is happy as long as she’s by your side. Willow lacks confidence outside and needs a capable handler who can help her feel less anxious in her environment. She needs another dog in the home to help build confidence. Willow would prefer a more calm home with older kids. She is just settling into her foster home and while she is doing well, we know she is still decompressing and trying to adjust to her new situation. When she moves to her forever home, a little patience will help her a lot. If you’re looking for a tenderhearted, easy-going companion who will bring warmth and quiet joy into your life, Willow might just be your girl. Willow is vaccinated, spayed and chipped. Her adoption fee is $525   We cover the medical to prepare the pet for adoption and the adopt donations go directly to cover those costs and range from $295-$495.  Thank you for stepping up to save a life! To expedite to meet with this dog, please go to our site at www.savinggreatanimals.org and fill out an application. We look at the first applications to arrive, so we hope to hear from you soon! Story
🐾 Looking for the Best Home for the Best Boy 🐾 Due to a move to a home that doesn't allow dogs, we're heartbroken to be looking for a new family for our amazing Collie. At 9 years old, he's the perfect combination of calm, loving, and adventurous. He'll happily join you for hikes, runs, beach days, and walks, but he's just as content curling up beside you for cuddles. He truly adapts to any lifestyle. He's wonderful with kids, dogs, and cats, and was highly trained as a therapy dog, volunteering in hospitals, children places or retirement homes. He has earned his Canine Good Citizen certification and has impeccable manners. Don't let his age fool you—he still has plenty of energy, a playful spirit, and so much love to give. He receives Adequan shots every two weeks for prevention and mobility. More than anything, he's incredibly loyal and affectionate. He's the kind of dog who becomes your shadow, your adventure buddy, and your best friend all at once.

Story
Bear is 1/2 rough collie 1/2 golden retriever. He will turn 2 on 9/7 and is one of the best puppies around who thinks he’s a lap dog even though he’s much bigger than your lap. Ideally a single dog/single pet home that has the time to keep up with his energy. He does well on walks and just loves to be the center of attention. He has the best doofus lip when his teeth get stuck on his lip and just wants to be loved. He has been around small kids and babies but he still has the energy and sometimes manners of a puppy. We want him to go to a good home that will take the best care of him. He has an appointment on 7/13 to get neutered. If you’re the lucky winner of this special puppy, we will still cover the cost of it if you take him to the clinic we have him scheduled at in Tacoma.

Story
FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Stetson! Stetson is a 2-year-old, 62 lb Australian Shepherd/Collie mix who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA. He’s a big, sweet, teddy-bear of a dog with a beautiful coat and looking to be someone’s next adventure buddy! This handsome boy is smart, treat-motivated, and very active. He’ll need an adopter with herding-breed/large dog experience who’s excited to work with him mentally and physically. Stetson enjoys training, loves being with his people, and would thrive in a home that offers daily exercise, structure, and continued training! Stetson does well with other dogs and would enjoy having a canine sibling, but he could also do well as an only dog as long as his adopters commit to continued socialization. He’s strong and fast, and while he walks well on leash most of the time, he can pull when excited. He can also be mouthy and jump up when overstimulated, so a home with no small children is recommended — dog-savvy kids 12+ could possibly be okay. When he’s not on the move, Stetson loves rolling around in the grass, soaking up attention, and just being close to his people. He’s affectionate, goofy, and deeply loving ~ a loyal companion for the right active home! Stetson is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Animal Profile: Nelson is a 2-year-old 28 lb hunky little short stack with a big personality and an even bigger smile. Originally labeled as a “Shiba Inu” mix, Nelson has since been DNA tested and is a Pit Bull/Cattle Dog/Fox Terrier mix, which explains his charm and his smarts. Nelson is being returned to the rescue after a year and a half due to his incompatibility with one of the two children in the home. Nelson does not appreciate hugs and cuddles especially while he is sleeping and even with multiple warnings including snaps and tooth contact, has never offered an injury inflicting bite. With his winning grin, compact build, and engaging personality, Nelson is ready to be someone’s loyal companion. He just needs the right match to thrive. Foster Update: Nelson is an active, engaging, and intelligent dog who truly wants a job to do and a person to do it with. He thrives when his days include a healthy balance of mental stimulation, physical exercise, and clear, confident leadership. This handsome boy has already put in a lot of work to set himself up for success. He has completed a board-and-train program with Mayhem Dog Training and is fully e-collar trained, giving him a strong foundation in structure and communication. Nelson also did well in a daycare setting with Rocket Dogs, where he enjoyed appropriate social interaction and play. He is currently in foster care with On The Mark Balanced Training in Snohomish, WA, where he gets to enjoy an active, structured lifestyle that suits him well. His routine includes off-leash adventures, treadmill workouts, and time with a well-managed pack of dogs—activities that help him stay balanced, fulfilled, and engaged. Nelson would do best in an adult-only home, either as an only dog or with a calm, well-balanced canine companion. His ideal adopter is someone with e-collar experience or someone open to learning and continuing his training journey. He responds very well to structure and will thrive with consistency and clear expectations. Ongoing support is available after adoption: Joy from Mayhem Dog Training is happy to provide follow-up lessons to help ensure a smooth and successful transition into his new home. Nelson’s journey hasn’t been an easy one. He was originally found as a stray and taken to a shelter in early September 2024. When no one came forward to claim him, he captured the heart of a rescue partner who saw his potential and invested in his future. Now, after everything he’s learned and overcome, Nelson is ready for his fresh start with the right family. He’s looking for someone who will appreciate his drive, guide his energy, and give him the structure he needs to thrive. In return, Nelson will offer loyalty, enthusiasm, and a true partnership built on trust and teamwork.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, and microchip with registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History:  This dog was returned to the rescue after 18 months in a home, originally transported from Caddo Parish Animal Shelter in Shreveport Louisiana via Tail Lights Rescue Project in 2024. He will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care in the Seattle area.  July 4, 2026, 10:34 pm

Story
Animal Information:  Meet Brownie! She is a 2 year old, 29 lb female Border Collie mix (best guess) who joined us from California, along with her 3 12-week-old puppies on 06/11/2026. When our rescue partner reached out to us about the puppies, we couldn't leave mom behind.  Foster Profile: Brownie is a special gem of a girl, looking for that special gem of a family. Brownie is an incredible pup! She has stolen our hearts-- she's smart, wants to please and is great with our resident dogs. She is Such a love bug! She's potty trained and crate trained though we are working on her "feelings" about being crated and she's coming along-- no apartments considered for this reason. She couldn't be more affectionate-- regularly sitting to ask for pets and climbing into our laps to be a little lap dog. She does need to build her confidence as she is still a little skittish on walks (we can tie you pointers/advice on how to be her best  leader ).Shes a terrific jogging companion and is looking for an active family . Anyone who adopts sweet Brownie is seriously lucky! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $575 which includes spay/neuter (on contract, if applicable), core vaccinations Rabies and DPPV per AVMA standards, any indicated preventative care, microchip with lifetime registration, and recent health check with a veterinarian.
