She is a healthy, happy young dog with a wonderful temperament. Sunny has a nice energy level; she’s active enough to enjoy walks and playtime but not overly hyper. She has very soft fur and an affectionate personality. Sunny loves being close to her people and will happily lay her head on your chest for cuddles, along with plenty of sweet kisses. Sunny is crate trained, house trained, and does well on leash. She is quiet, enjoys being around people, and settles nicely in the home. She may still need a little help learning to give clearer cues when she needs to go outside, but she is already doing very well. Animal Profile: Buddy is a 4.5-year-old Doodle (1/2 Border Collie 1/2 Standard Poodle). He was purchased from a breeder prior to his owners having children. Buddy is a friendly but slightly anxious guy who has not adjusted well to having a toddler in the home. His family invested in a 4-week board and train with a local dog trainer in hopes that it would help Buddy feel more comfortable around small toddlers. Buddy completed his training; he has excellent house and leash manners, is house trained, crate trained; and knows the ‘place’ command. Unfortunately he was still too uncomfortable around the kids after training, and his family decided it was best to find him a new home. Buddy has been trained using balanced methods, including e collar for off leash reliability. Buddy does great at doggy daycare, but does have some resource guarding around food and select toys when it comes to other dogs. While he enjoys his dog friends, we think he’d be happiest as an only dog. Buddy has not lived with cats. Buddy is currently in foster care with a balanced trainer, and doing well. He’s incredibly sweet, loving, and as smart as they come! Enzo has been shining in foster care! He is crate trained, house trained, and with some patience and guidance from his wonderful fosters ~ he has learned to love cats! He’s also great with other dogs and loves his people. Enzo is active, playful, and still full of that classic herding dog spunk. Fetch is one of his all-time favorite activities. He knows several commands: sit, down, shake, roll over, and spin and is eager to keep learning! This boy doesn’t just want physical exercise; he needs mental work. Puzzle toys, training sessions, trick work, nose games — he thrives when you give his brain something to do. He came from an overcrowded CA shelter and is recovering from a leg injury that has been healing well. This handsome boy is as sweet as they come—gentle, patient, and absolutely adores people. He’s done well with children he’s met and loves saying hello to everyone (he even enjoyed meeting all the trick-or-treaters on Halloween!). Fenton is house-trained, walks well on leash, and is a total fetch fanatic. He loves toys, hikes, and all kinds of adventures, but also knows how to relax and enjoy a good cuddle or nap once playtime’s over. Fenton gets along well with other dogs and would love a playful canine companion—preferably one who can help set healthy boundaries, since he can be a bit pushy at times. She was adopted from us in January but, through no fault of her own, she is back with us due to unexpected personal and living situation changes in her adopted home. Now she’s ready for the right family who will love her for life! Tikka is a smart, loving, and fun puppy who thrives on routine. In true Border Collie fashion, she’s quick to learn and very in tune with her people. She even gets a little sassy if dinner or her post-meal playtime is delayed (she likes to keep everyone on schedule! 😄). She has done well living with another dog and loves having a playful dog companion. She can be a bit excited with cats at first, but with time and proper introductions she has learned to coexist well with them. Animal Information: Bianca and Bernard were born on 11/19/2025 and came to a Bakersfield, California shelter with their mom, dad, and littermates. The whole family caught a freedom ride to Washington, where our rescue partner reached out for help placing some of the puppies. Mom and Dad are beautiful, purebred Australian Shepherds (photo 2 & 3) with wonderful temperaments and engaging personalities. Bernie and Bianca are already showing the intelligence and drive typical of their breed. These pups will thrive in active homes, ideally with adopters who have herding breed experience (or a strong interest in learning) and a commitment to training, mental stimulation, and enrichment. With the right guidance, they’ll make incredible companions. Foster Profile: Next on your dance card is Bianca. She is only 11 weeks old and 5.5 lbs but what she is missing in size she makes up for in grit, love and determination. Her favorite pass time is playing with my resident Cleo. She seems to understand it's good to potty outside but potty training is a work in progress. We have greatly reduced accidents with scheduled potty breaks. We are also working on kennel training. She does great at night with a cover over the crate sleeps through the night, but needs work on being in her crate during the day. It's getting better with patience. She loves snuggle time, and I make sure to give her an hour every night before crate time. She is oure love, pure energy and pure aussie. Smart and eager to learn. Definitely a keeper. Animal Profile: Maui's ideal home will have a balanced dog that can show him the world isn't such a scary place. A big bonus would be if the dog is willing to play. He has no resource guarding tendencies, and respects when other dogs establish boundaries. He will thrive under strong leadership, with an active family committed to continuing his training. Previous experience with anxious dogs is preferred. Maui is a goofy young boy who is equal parts klutz and weighted blanket. He is still a little unsure about the world, and we are working on building up his confidence—he has come a long way. He takes his time warming up to strangers, but once he does he will melt onto the ground for belly rubs. He is eager to please, and highly motivated by both food and affection. He doesn't have a lot of body awareness, and will often bump into furniture or people. His exuberance might be a little much for young children, but dog-savvy kids would be ok. He has spent time with a 20 month old toddler, and showed no aggression despite being climbed on and grabbed. His crate is his safe space, and he enjoys retreating there when he's overwhelmed or tired. Maui will be up for as much activity as you would like to take him, and might get some zoomies if not walked sufficiently—two 30 min walks a day would be sufficient. He can be reactive to dogs on leash, but responds well to training so far. He also loves to play with toys—fetch and tug are his favourite games. He is not destructive, and has never had an accident in his time here.
