Story
Animal Profile: Nellie is an estimated 14-18 month old, 55 lb spayed female mixed breed (possibly border collie and shepherd) who was found as a stray in TX and taken in by our rescue partners. She is very social, friendly, playful with dogs, and good in the crate -- but loves to be with her humans. We will share more about her as we get to know her in foster care.  Foster Update: Nellie is a loyal, loving and easy going young dog who has been a joy to foster. She has high energy when she knows it's time to play, but can also relax when it's not play time. She is wonderful in the crate and is also good on leash, rarely pulling. She is friendly and playful with other dogs once she warms up to them after slow introductions. She is good at communicating boundaries appropriately with other dogs when it comes to staying away from "her stuff." She absolutely loves being outside and will be a great hiking or running buddy! She's a hard chewer so will need durable toys. She has a cute little habit of stealing socks and hiding them in her crate; she doesn't destroy them, just likes to collect them. Her ideal family would be a couple or single person with or without another balanced dog, looking for an adventure buddy and willing to help her continue to build her confidence. Nellie has not been formally evaluated with cats or kids.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: Nellie was transferred from Saving Shelter Strays in Texas arriving to Seattle area foster care on 3/8/24. She will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Squirrel and her sister Angel are corgi/collie/chihuahua mixes that are 12 months old. Their owners reached out to Dog Gone Seattle for help placing them and several other dogs. We agreed to find them all wonderful homes, and are also spaying the females that are remaining in the home to avoid future accidental litters. Mom and Dad are both friendly, social low riders that were very sweet when we met them. They have been raised in a home with a 10 year old, other dogs both large and small, and a cat. Foster notes: Squirrel is a young, sweet, and playful dog that has a heart full of love to give. She's smart and cuddly, always ready to learn new tricks or snuggle up for a comfort on the sofa. Squirrel is a bit shy, but once she warms up to you, her affectionate nature truly shines. Her excitement is contagious - when she's happy, her whole body wiggles, and she gets the zoomies, filling the house with laughter. Squirrel's is house trained, crate trained, and walks well on leash. She can be a little hesitant when you go to put the leash on, but once it's clipped she is ready to go!  Squirrel  is good around cats, keeping a safe distance from them.  She would probably enjoy being an only dog to have all the attention to herself or with another dog with slow, proper introductions.  She has been quite shy with other dogs and just needs time to adjust. She has done really well with our respectful, senior dog and previously lived in a home with 10 other dogs both large and small.  Squirrel  would love to be in a home that provides moderate activity and stimulation like regular walks, interactive toys, and play sessions in the park.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, negative heartworm test, health certificate, and microchip with lifetime registration. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as Dog Gone Seattle is a 501c3 organization. Apply online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Requires: -Herding breed experienced home -Large fenced yard outside the city -Another playful dog in the home her size or larger Keira is a 2 year old, 50lb Border Collie who is looking for her perfect home. She takes a while to trust, but is loyal to her people once she does. Keira is fearful of people and does not easily trust. She can be skittish and is a flight risk if not contained properly. She will build trust with her people after a period of time spent together and trust building, but she is not a ‘people’ dog with new people. She is definitely a dog's dog. She prefers to be with her dog friends and spends her days out in a play yard with 5-7 other dogs. Keira will need a home that understands and is ok with the fact she is not a super lovey dog that will want human attention all the time. Keira will do best in an adult only home that is patient in building her trust and ok with her being aloof and doing her own thing at times. She is well mannered and does great hanging out in a fenced yard with her dog friends. She is super active and loves to run around in her current large play yard with other dogs. Keira will thrive in a home with a large fenced yard outside of the city. She is not an apartment/condo/townhome dog. Keira requires at least one other dog around her size in the home, and herding breed experience. She would thrive in a more rural setting with a large fenced yard. Keira is UTD on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Ralphie! He is a 4.5-year-old, 50lb, Border Collie/Pittie mix. This boy is just a hunk of love and look at that adorable smile!. He is sweet, fun loving and a playful boy! He would love his forever home to be an active family who would take him for walks and on adventures. Ralphie will thrive in a home that can continue basic obedience with him. Ralphie can do well with other dogs, and we will want to meet the other dogs in his forever home to make sure it’s a great fit! We do not think he would do well with a dominant male, but neutral dogs 35lbs and up ok! Ralphie can be a bit of an escape artist so he will need a free-standing home with a securely fenced yard in suburban or rural neighborhood. Ralphie is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $400.

Wrangler is a sweet dog who is shy at first, but once he warms up, he is very friendly. He loves to go on walks with his person and would thrive in a home that takes him on adventures, hiking, and daily excursions. He would make a great additional dog to a home or be okay as an only dog. Once he opens up, he does have some spunk and a good amount of energy to do just about any activity. He is very smart and learns quickly as comes with the breed and is treat motivated. He would do best with an adopter that is patient and allowing him to open up and trust. Story
Animal Profile: Carrot is a now 18-month-old 40 lb spayed female Kelpie. She was acquired by a family for their autistic child as a service dog. They soon realized they didn't have the financial or other capacity for necessary training and surrendered her to the rural Los Banos shelter, where she was euthanasia listed for space. She was assessed to be friendly and social with people and dogs. Foster Update:  Carrot could be mistaken for “Gossip” the Australian show “Muster Dogs” – she is a smart, vocal, energetic dog. She’s very friendly when meeting new people and other medium to large dogs. She has high energy and loves to zoom around the yard on her own or with her dog friends. Carrot is an active dog, who regularly walks 3-7 miles a day. She likes her toys, tug of war, catching or chasing a ball–for a limited time– and doesn’t destroy toys. Carrot has an independent streak, and her job is often to herd her humans – if someone gets up to make coffee, she will wake up the others to join in the kitchen. We have worked to moderate some of the nipping behaviors common with the breed, which tends to happen if she is overstimulated, but can be redirected. She is ok on leash but has a high prey drive when it comes to cats, rabbits, squirrels. She has some leash mild reactivity toward some dogs and cyclists, but she is treat-motivated, and she is starting to mind her own business on walks. Carrot is crate trained and also enjoys dog beds. She likes to be near her humans and will lay down or play with one of her toys; she can be just as calm and sweet as she can be energetic and a punk. She is completely housebroken and will tell you when she needs to go outside. Carrot is ok with calmer kids of any age; she is not good with cats, small dogs. Apartments are ok but Carrot will need lots of outdoor walks; a home with a fenced yard is ideal since Carrot is an escape artist and will hunt down smaller animals. Carrot would do best with someone who works from home or can find regular care with people and dogs she knows. She would do great with a canine playmate that can match her energy and a person/people that can continue to provide exercise, routine, and more training to be her best self. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, and health certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue.  Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Los Banos shelter where she was euth listed for space. She arrived to foster care in Seattle on 5/21/23 and has been fostered in the greater Seattle area since. She is currently available for adoption. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm

Story
Ames is an approximately 1-year-old, 40 lb neutered cattle dog mix that joined us from New Mexico on 12/4/23. He was surrendered by a finder who held him temporarily and reported he was good with dogs and kids. In foster care in Seattle, we have gotten to know his personality. While shy at first, he is an incredibly loyal pup who loves to play tug and fetch when he’s not snoozing the day away. This handsome boy has a playful yet gentle demeanor and is good with other dogs – Ames must have a home with a balanced confident dog sibling to help show him that the world isn’t scary. Ames would benefit from a confident adopter who knows how to help him build his confidence -- coddling his insecurities will only amplify them, so he needs firm upbeat leadership. As soon as he gets comfortable, his friendliness and curiosity know no bounds. Ames is food motivated and a fast learner, picking up on commands like sit, lie down, touch, spin, and shake. He’s a velcro dog filled with endless love for his chosen humans and is ready to share that love with his new family. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from Roswell, New Mexico.  He arrived on 12/4 and is now available for adoption in the greater Seattle area after evaluation in foster care. July 26, 2024, 1:04 pm
