Story
Animal Profile: Buddy is a 4.5-year-old Doodle (1/2 Border Collie 1/2 Standard Poodle). He was purchased from a breeder prior to his owners having children. Buddy is a friendly but slightly anxious guy who has not adjusted well to having a toddler in the home. His family invested in a 4-week board and train with a local dog trainer in hopes that it would help Buddy feel more comfortable around small toddlers. Buddy completed his training; he has excellent house and leash manners, is house trained, crate trained; and knows the ‘place’ command. Unfortunately he was still too uncomfortable around the kids after training, and his family decided it was best to find him a new home. Buddy has been trained using balanced methods, including e collar for off leash reliability. Buddy does great at doggy daycare, but does have some resource guarding around food and select toys when it comes to other dogs. While he enjoys his dog friends, we think he’d be happiest as an only dog. Buddy has not lived with cats. Buddy is currently in foster care with his day care owners, and doing well there. Foster Update: coming soon! Adoption Info: The adoption fee is $550 which includes his neuter, core vaccinations,  DPPV, Bordetella, microchip, and recent health check with a veterinarian. Adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application  October 31, 2025, 2:54 pm

Story
Meet Nymera! 🐺 Her name, Nymera, means “noble” — a fitting name for such a strong and graceful soul. (It’s pronounced nih-MEER-ee-uh.) This gorgeous girl was found stray near the border of Mexico, and the moment her rescuer opened the car door, she hopped right in as if she knew her new life was about to begin. Nymera is about 1 year old, weighs 30 pounds, and is a Border Collie mix with a heart as big as her smile. She’s affectionate, intelligent, and social — she loves everyone she meets and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. She has that classic Border Collie sparkle — alert, eager to please, and full of gentle energy — but what makes her truly special is her sweet, trusting nature after all she’s been through. ✨ Nymera is ready to lead her own happily-ever-after — could it be with you?

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Flossy! Flossy is a stunning 2-year-old, 56 lb Border Collie/Lab mix who came to us from an overcrowded CA shelter after being abandoned at a dog park. Now she’s ready to find a forever family who will give her the love and stability she deserves! Flossy is a truly beautiful dog—her soft black coat and striking gold eyes make her stand out instantly! She’s attentive, smart, and very responsive to her handler, which makes training with her both fun and rewarding. She walks well on leash, loves learning, and enjoys being engaged with her person. She’s great with people and does well with other dogs. She hasn’t been tested with cats. For kids, we’d recommend dog-savvy children around 10–12+ simply due to her size and energy level. Flossy is an active, adventurous girl who would thrive in a home that loves hiking, running, exploring, and keeping her well-socialized. She’d do great with another dog in the home, but she could also be an only dog with adopters committed to giving her plenty of exercise, interaction, and enrichment. Flossy is sweet, loyal, fun, and incredibly trainable—she’ll make an amazing companion for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle! Flossy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and spayed. Her adoption fee is $500.

Story
Requires: -Herding breed experienced home -Large fenced yard outside the city -Another playful dog in the home her size or larger Keira is a 2 year old, 50lb Border Collie who is looking for her perfect home. She takes a while to trust, but is loyal to her people once she does. Keira is fearful of people and does not easily trust. She can be skittish and is a flight risk if not contained properly. She will build trust with her people after a period of time spent together and trust building, but she is not a ‘people’ dog with new people. She is definitely a dog's dog. She prefers to be with her dog friends and spends her days out in a play yard with 5-7 other dogs. Keira will need a home that understands and is ok with the fact she is not a super lovey dog that will want human attention all the time. Keira will do best in an adult only home that is patient in building her trust and ok with her being aloof and doing her own thing at times. She is well mannered and does great hanging out in a fenced yard with her dog friends. She is super active and loves to run around in her current large play yard with other dogs. Keira will thrive in a home with a large fenced yard outside of the city. She is not an apartment/condo/townhome dog. Keira requires at least one other dog around her size in the home, and herding breed experience. She would thrive in a more rural setting with a large fenced yard. Keira is UTD on shots, spayed, and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $400.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Chad! Chad is a 4-year-old, 46 lb Border Collie/Aussie mix who is eager to find his forever home. Chad is a beautiful, energetic pup looking for an active, experienced adopter who can keep up with his playful spirit! This smart, eager-to-learn boy has a ton of potential but will need some work on his manners to become the well-rounded companion he’s meant to be. Chad’s ideal home will be one that can provide lots of exercise and mental stimulation. He’s a herding breed mix, so he thrives with tasks and activities that keep him engaged. Herding breed experience is a must. Whether it’s running, playing fetch, or learning new tricks, Chad is ready to get moving! Chad is generally friendly with other dogs, but he can be a bit dominant, especially around male dogs, so he’d do best in a home with female dogs or as the only dog. He’s great with his person, always loving and loyal, but he would do better in a household with no young children. If you're looking for a fun, smart companion to share your life with, Chad might just be your perfect match! Chad is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Fido! Fido is a 2-year-old, 42-pound Border Collie/Heeler mix (best guess!) with the sweetest eyes, adorable expressive ears, and a beautiful black-and-white coat accented by a touch of brown behind his ears. He’s the perfect medium-sized adventure buddy and has the happy, upbeat personality to match! Fido is an active, smart, enthusiastic young dog who still carries some fun puppy energy. He would thrive in a home that can give him plenty of daily exercise, adventures, and ongoing training. He loves people, enjoys being part of the action, and does great with other dogs! He can be a little vocal or whiny when he’s excited ~ he’s such a happy boy! With routine, structure, and activity, he’ll continue to settle and mature. He’s eager to learn, very trainable, and would be an amazing dog for someone who enjoys working with a bright pup and teaching new tricks. Fido could do well as an only dog (as long as adopters continue his socialization so he stays confident and friendly) or as a great addition to a multi-dog home. He hasn’t officially been kid-tested, but we think respectful, dog-savvy children 10+ could be a good fit. Overall, Fido is a sweet, adventurous, lovable boy who’s ready to be someone’s hiking buddy, running partner, and best friend. If you’re looking for a fun, active dog to join you on life’s adventures, Fido might be your perfect match! Fido is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

WE ARE A TX-BASED RESCUE. THIS DOG IS CURRENTLY LOCATED IN TX AND WILL BE TRANSPORTED UPON ADOPTION. Please fill out an adoption application at haydudeequine.org 🐾🔥 Meet Dante — The Dashing Adventurer With a Heart of Gold 🔥🐾 (Australian Shepherd • 2 Years • ~45 lbs • Professional Good Boy) If you’ve been wishing for a four-legged best friend who can keep up with all your adventures — from weekday hikes to weekend chaos — allow us to introduce Dante, the Australian Shepherd whose life goal is to be included in absolutely everything you do. Yes, everything. If you’re going, he’s going. If you’re sitting, he’s sitting. If you’re eating… well, he’s respectfully observing with hopeful eyes. At 2 years old and around 45 pounds, Dante is the perfect-sized partner in crime. He’s sweet-natured, active, playful, and handsome enough to make your neighbors ask, “Wow, where’d you get that dog?” (We approve of you bragging about him.) He’s good with dogs, great with kids, and even gets along with cats — which is impressive given that many Aussies consider cats to be mysterious, poorly timed flock members. Dante says, “No worries, mate. We’re cool.” He was previously heartworm positive, but he has completed treatment like the brave champ he is and is now cleared and ready for his forever home. Fully vetted, neutered, and house trained — this boy is as turn-key as they come. A couple things you should know: • Dante is barky. Not “I’m yelling at every leaf,” but definitely “I have opinions and I would like to share them.” • Because of that, apartment life = big nope. • Outdoorsy, active families = HUGE YES. He wants adventures! Hikes! Road trips! Splash zones! Life! Dante would thrive with a family who will include him in the everyday moments and the big fun ones — from coffee runs and yard projects to camping trips and long scenic walks. He’s happiest when he’s part of the action, right by your side. He is currently with a neighboring rescue partner — we work together to save as many lives as we can — and we will happily pull him into Hay Dude Rescue to complete his adoption. If you're looking for a best friend who brings joy, energy, loyalty, and a sprinkle of Aussie spice, Dante is your guy. 👉 Apply today at haydudeequine.org — Dante’s next adventure starts with YOU! 🐶✨

Story
Animal Profile: Luna is a now 3-year-old, 40 lb Cattle Dog mix who originally joined our rescue from Texas as a 9-week-old puppy (fka Dory) and was adopted by her foster family. Over three years later, she is coming back to rescue as her family is moving to Germany and cannot take her with them. Luna is super social and friendly with dogs of all sizes and is currently housed with cats (they're fun!) without any aggression. Luna has some noise phobias and will need some confidence building and exposure training, but is otherwise well behaved -- house and crate trained, knows basic obedience, and loves to run and play chase with other dogs. She plays very nicely.   Foster Update: 9-30-25  Luna is doing better and better! She can relax and enjoy quiet neighborhood walks and trail and park walks. She did great on our hikes! On busy city streets, she's still anxious (she pants) but will cooperate with the leash. She's good with dogs as long as we're all walking, but she may bark when we're staying still and other objects (dog, toddlers) approach us. She has minor resource guarding when she’s eating and another dog come close, but humans are no threat.  Luna loves me and my husband equally and knows sit, down, and not rushing through doors. She has 3-year-old dog playful energy but settles herself on her bed or in her crate without seeking attention all the time. On the other hand, she loves cuddling when invited to do so. She's done great on the many car rides we've take her on too. We've left her in her car crate while we've done errands and she just naps and wait. I think Luna could use a family who lives in a quieter area and has an outdoor lifestyle. Exercise in nature really helps her lower her stress level and do better at handling challenging, noisy environments when needed. She could be the solo dog or with another confident dog.  Earlier updates: Luna has truly transformed in foster care. While she can be a little nervous around loud noises, she looks to her person for guidance and is able to recover quickly from any startling sounds. Luna has learned to walk politely in a heel on leash, and with her excellent crate and car manners, she has been able to join her foster family on adventures including hiking, camping, and beach outings. She will be happiest in a home with another dog who can help show her the way, but she could also thrive as an only dog with an owner committed to continuing her current training. Luna knows several commands including crate, sit, stay, down, place, and heel. She is friendly when meeting new people and loves to play with other dogs. We have loved watching her blossom and open up since returning to rescue. Now she is ready for a family of her own! Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $400 which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DG is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: She was found with her sibling as a young puppy wandering as a stray in rural Texas, picked up by Animal Control and transferred to our rescue partner AARC Del Rio. They were transferred to DGS arriving to foster care on 07/13/22. She was adopted by her foster, who reached out to surrender in August 2025 as the family was moving to Germany and could not bring her along. She will be available for adoption in the Seattle area once evaluated in foster care. October 8, 2025, 10:57 pm

Story
Animal Profile: Beethoven (hearing impaired like his namesake), or Thoven for short, is an estimated 3.5-year-old, 40 lb neutered male mixed breed -- possibly terrier aussie mix -- who was a stray intake to the Caddo Parish Shelter in Louisiana and was assessed to be friendly, social and outgoing with everyone. He has a coat made for the PNW! This boy was used for dog testing because he is neutral or friendly with everyone. We will share more info once we get to know him in foster care.   Foster Update: Beethoven can't hear but he is a top-level snuggle buddy and goofy boy who is house trained, crate trained, and friendly with other dogs. He's also done okay with cats. He'll do best with a dog buddy in his home. He is prone to anxiety without proper leadership, so an experienced dog owner who can provide training and help him be his best self is needed. Thoven has nice leash manners and is non-destructive in the house.  Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. Apply Online: www.doggoneseattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was transferred from Caddo Parish animal shelter in Louisiana and arrived to Seattle area via Tail Lights Rescue Project on 08/08//2023. He was adopted and then returned about a year later due to not being a good fit in his home (single man no other dogs in an apartment). He is currently in foster care in North Bend and available for adoption in the greater Seattle area. September 19, 2025, 2:47 pm
