Story
This Princess is ready to find a new kingdom... er, family! Princess is an approximately 3 year-old, 14-lb mini-dachshund, Spaniel mix with beautiful long fur. She was surrendered in Kansas due to no fault of her own. She is a wonderful little companion who is house-trained and dog-friendly! She has not been tested with cats nor kids but would probably be ok with respectful kids 10+. She walks nicely on leash so she does not require a fenced yard but she does bark so shared walls would not be a good fit. She loves playing with soft toys and she can be trusted to chew only her toys, not household items. She knows "sit" and is so ready to learn more cues. If you are interested in meeting Princess the first step is to complete our meet and greet application at https://www.corgisandfriends.com/forms We require the application, home and reference check and meet with everyone in the home. Princess is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations, chipped, and HW-. Her adoption fee is $375 and we do not adopt outside of Colorado.February 12, 2026, 6:05 pm

Story
Meet Corndog  — your future shadow, snuggle buddy, and sunshine enthusiast! Corndog is a 1.5-year-old dachshund with a huge personality packed into a perfectly small body. He’s full of spunk, endlessly loving, and always ready to make you laugh with his charm. He’s fully potty trained, housebroken, and sleeps through the night like a champ. Corndog knows how to sit for treats (very important skill!) and will happily turn into a lap dog at any given opportunity—especially if snuggles or kisses are involved. He absolutely loves giving and receiving affection and bonds deeply with his people. This little guy has lots of energy and would thrive in a home with a backyard where he can run around, explore, and sunbathe to his heart’s content. He truly enjoys being outside and soaking up the warmth. Corndog can get a bit anxious when his humans leave the house, but with a frozen chew toy and some reassurance, he settles down nicely. He just loves being close to his people and wants to feel safe and secure. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who will keep you company, warm your lap, and fill your home with love (and kisses), Corndog might just be your perfect match! ##2653848##

Story
Meet this distinguished gentleman! Bode is a 3 year old dachshund who loves to love you! He is a sweet boy who loves to cuddle and kiss, play, and run! Meet the sassy but loveable Juno! She is a 3 year old dapple dachshund who loves your lap, especially when you’re on the couch, snuggled up with a blanket. Bode and Juno are bonded siblings who love playing and snuggling together! Unfortunately, I recently went through a divorce and moved into an apartment and work outside the home so I am not able to offer them the life that they had before: a yard to run in, people home to give them love during the day, and a home where they aren’t boarded most of the day. It breaks my heart to let them go but they deserve more than I can give them. They come as a pair and would do best in a home without other dogs. They love kids and will absolutely snuggle up with your human littles!

Story
Axis arrives in Colorado Saturday 2/7/2026 and needs a committed foster home or adopter to welcome her! Axis and her brother Chaos had to leave their home because... politely put, they don't do well with chickens (please research what Dachshund's were originally bred for- the instinct is strong in these two). Axis is super affectionate, loves to be in your lap and loved on. She loves to play and run through tunnels with her brother and the other dogs but let's be clear- she's the boss. As such, she chooses to be more mouthy during play.  Good with other dogs (wants to play) and kids! Axis will hold potty until outside and is really quiet! Axis is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring her up and into their home! ***Axis is being posted on behalf of our partner rescue in Texas- the process and adoption will go through them. The adoption fee does not include the transport fee (usually $125-200/dog).*** Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2649708##

Story
Hi, I'm Nora! I'm an 8 year old girl that is special needs. I have diabetes insipidus which you can read more about online but basically it is not treated with insulin. Currently I am on a medication for it twice daily and it seems to be helping. I'm a sweet girl but not a fan of other animals so I'm looking to be your one and only. What do you say? Take a senior girly home and love me forever.  If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2620129##
