Story
Gibbs - MN Dachshund x 3.5 yrs est. birthday 10/28/2020 and he is a whopping 9.8 lbs.   Can you believe we saw Gibbs at a shelter and no one wanted this adorable little shortie? Gibbs is a doxie/chi mix and those ears are to die for!  I just want to pet him and snuggle him.  Since he has the doxie in him and a long doxie back, older children over 10 are going to be the best fit as he can be injured easily.  Gibbs will need a safe yard (they can get out easily) and door safety rules (if you have kids). He would like a friend to play with as he is playful!  Put in an application today at eapl.com.  His adoption fee is $375 May 1, 2024, 10:16 am

Story
Ellie is a 2-3 year old short legged, long bodied cutie weighing about 30lbs.  Ellie was dumped at a shelter in New Mexico with her six babies.  Overcrowded shelters in this partilcar area are very unsafe for pups, especially unvaccinated pups.  Ellie worked so hard to keep her puppie healthy and safe, she was suuuch a good Momma.  By the time we were able to find the fosters to get her and her pups from the shelter, two of them had passed away, most likely from intestinal parasites, which is 100% preventable, if only treated.  While broken hearted, we felt lucky that we were able to save the four that we did and we could tell Momma Ellie was very grateful too.  Ellie has now been in a foster home on her own for a few weeks and is ready to find her forever family.  Here is what her foster Momma has to say about her: "Ellie is a sweet, shy girl that loves treats and snuggles.  She is still a little nervous with everything she has been through, but she has been learning how to be a dog at her foster home and it is so fun to watch her grow and learn each day.  Ellie has learned that the crate isnt scary because of the yummy treats she gets, she is very food motivated.  She would do well with another dog around her size to learn from, love, and play with.  Ellie loves bed time and snuggles close with her foster Momma and the other dogs all night.  She has the cutest smile when shes really happy and getting love and pets.  She will make an absolutely wonderful companion for someone" If you are interested in adopting Ellie, please fill out our adoption application at brighterdaysdogrescue.com ##2034602##

Story
Cooper is a very sweet 5 year old. He wants all your attention and will love sitting in your lap all day. He is okay with other dogs after he gets used to them. He is wonderful with children and cats. Unfortunately, he doesn’t play with toys or our other dog. He pees when he is excited or scared. He constantly competes for attention and barks at every thing. He gets separation anxiety. We adopted him from a previous owner at 4 years old and we haven’t been able to get him where we would love to keep forever. We are expecting another baby and we dont have the time or much patience left to work with him. He may be happiest with a person who will give him all their attention while being the only dog in the home. If someone is familiar with his breed type (we were told dachshund and Corgi mix) and training dogs would be ideal for Cooper. I want to make sure he is safe, loved and in a better suited environment so he can flourish.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Buddy, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Look at this sweet, stumpy legged, underbite little boy! Buddy is an adorable Dachshund / Cavalier King Charles mix. Buddy is 3 years old and 26 lbs. This sweet boy ended up in a small shelter in New Mexico after being brought in with 15 other dogs from a hoarding case. Poor Buddy never knew what it was like to have a real, loving home, until he came to Colorado and settled into his foster home. Buddy is settling into his foster home very well, and loves his foster mom and doggy foster brother. The following is from Buddy's foster: * * * * * "Buddy is such a great dog!!! Since coming home, he's opening up SO much and is a great boy! He is potty trained, crate trained, not destructive, and sleeps loose on a dog bed at night. He answers to Buddy (his original name). He loves to snuggle other dogs and has no issues sharing a bed, food, couch, or treats. He would love a home with another dog. He will be really shy at first, going into a new home. This sweet boy has been through a lot and needs an adopter that can commit to being patient with him and letting him warm up. We have had Buddy for 1 month and he was blossomed into a totally great and loving dog, but it definitely took a few weeks. We kept his harness on for the first 5 days because it was tough to get him out of crate to do his business. Meanwhile we did everything we could to make him feel safe and loved. We hand fed him in his crate. We gave him hot dogs, chicken and stinky cheese for coming out and letting him give him belly rubs (his favorite!) The second week I wore a waist belt and he was clipped to me pretty much all day. Whatever I did, he did. I probably overdid the positive reinforcement. Unlike other fosters who needed a little redirection and boundary setting, he was very sensitive. We focused on making him understand that he was safe and loved and secure. So didn’t try to push training until I had him for almost a month, but by then (now) he is so eager to please that gentle commands like down and off were starting to stick. He truly is the best, sweetest dog. He just needs time to understand what is going on with all of the confusion he's had in his life!" * * * * * We'd like to place Buddy in a home where he'll get consistent stimulation, exercise and love. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young guy whose self-esteem will fly high while he masters his skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice. Farfel's is happy to provide a list of both in-person and virtual positive reinforcement / force- free trainers in your area. Buddy has been fully vetted, is in great health, and up to date on his vaccines. He was not able to be neutered prior to his transport to Colorado, and since the transport can be stressful we are wanting to give him time to settle in before neutering. Neuter is required to be done within one month of Buddy's adoption date, and required to finalize any adoption. We do cover the full cost of his neuter. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. If you are interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ . **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting from us, please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application.

Story
** If you are interested in adopting Tulip, please fill out our adoption application at http://farfels.com/farfels-rescue/adoption-form/ ** Look at this sweet, cute eyebrowed, GORGEOUS Dachshund mix! Tulip is believed to be 2 years old, and is a tiny 8 lbs. She is believed to be a Chiweenie (Chihuahua / Dachshund). Tulip was found in Pampa Texas, abandoned in a dog park with 2 other dogs, and they were all brought into a small high kill shelter. The shelter reached out to us (knowing we LOVE Dachshunds!) and of course we were so happy to help and get her out of there. From Tulip's foster: * * * * "I love this girl! She is really really sweet and SUPER loveable. Very very cuddly, and if she could be in your arms or lap 24/7, she would be! She gets along great with all 6 other dogs in the home, and she sleeps in bed with us under the covers. Tulip seems potty trained! She has not gone inside once yet, and goes potty outside right when we go to the yard. She is definitely an attention hog, and if she sees one of my dogs on my lap she will squeeze her way in and try to get you to pet her instead. Tulip is just incredibly sweet, and loves my husband too. Her only quirk I have noticed is that she will NOT attempt the stairs yet. Luckily she weighs as much as a feather and is easy to carry up and down! Note -- While I am fostering both Tulip and Kazoo, and it is clear that they are littermates, I do NOT believe that they are bonded. I think if someone wants to adopt both of them, that is fine, but I definitely do not believe that they need to go to the same home. Both of them would do totally fine on their own. They don't cuddle or play or hangout much with each other. " * * * * Tulip doesn't appear to have any prior training. A (virtual or in-person) positive reinforcement group training class promotes great behavior, bonding and confidence for a young dog whose self-esteem will fly high while she masters her skills. Training is so important in the future behaviors of every dog. It's for this reason that we're unwilling to adopt to a family that doesn't make this loving choice.
