Frankie was found roaming the streets of Pampa TX and adopted by a family down there that had a yard with no fence. For some reason that we will never understand, they would leave Frankie unattended out in their "yard", and their neighbor kept finding him walking around the neighborhood alone. After this had happened so many time, the neighbor asked his "family" if they wanted him and they said no so the neighbor brought him to the shelter. And let me say... this was THEIR LOSS. Frankie is quite the perfect boy!
Frankie is 5 years old, good with other dogs, and loves people. He is a gorgeous Dachshund, though it is clear that he needs to lose a bit of weight. He is a chonky boy, weighing 22 lbs, but he should be maybe 15 lbs at a more healthy weight. Now that Frankie is in Colorado, his foster mom has put him on a diet.

"Frankie is pretty dang perfect. He is potty trained, gets along with all of my dogs, sleeps in bed with us under the covers all night, and is just so easy and good!
He came home and really just integrated so easily. He's clearly been in a home before and it shows. He made himself right at home!
He is low maintenance and kinda lazy... very Dachshund of him! He loves to cuddle and be on your lap and sleep pressed up against you.
Be careful! He is a face kisser!!
He eats his meals next to my dogs with no issues, except if he finishes before my dogs he will try to stick his nose in their bowl to eat their food. I just put him on my lap or let him out of the kitchen when he finishes so he doesn't steal anyone else's meals.
He sleeps through the night easily and definitely will want to cuddle!
He is quite the chunk so he's a bit heavy to carry, but I haven't needed to carry him really... He walks great on a leash and runs up and down the stairs with no issue. Only time I have to pick him up is to get him on the bed because our bed is pretty tall and he can't jump up onto it.
He briefly saw my cat and didn't bark or react to her, but it was pretty brief so take it with a grain of salt. I'll try to cat test him better soon.
He really is a good boy, I don't know how anyone could have given him up!! He will make someone super happy."

Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial.
Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year.
