Ollie is a long bodied, short king with a HUGE heart! This sweet boy loves showing off his favorite toys, giving hugs, and snuggling with his people. Once he feels comfortable, he’s incredibly loving and is a great companion.
Ollie has made huge strides with his confidence and trust, especially with his foster dad. He was initially very nervous around him and can still be a little nervous around men, but he has come such a long way. He now happily allows pets, is comfortable hanging out close by, and has learned that his foster dad is someone he can trust.
Ollie just needs a little time and patience when he first meets someone or comes into a new environment. Once he feels safe, his sweet personality really comes out. He’s a funny, loving little guy who has already made so much progress, and we know he’ll continue to come out of his shell with someone who gives him the time to get comfortable.
* Crate Trained: Yes! Ollie can comfortably spend the day in his crate with periodic walks and sleeps through the night in it.
* Cruising Companion: Yes! Ollie rides well in the car and happily tags along for errands and trips to the hiking trailhead.
* Good with Other Dogs: Yes, with introductions. He gets along great with his smaller, older foster sister. Bigger, high-energy dogs can make him nervous at first, but he is not aggressive and has become much more confident. He'll just need some time to meet them and get to know them.
* Good with Kids: Likely, with patience. He doesn’t live with kids but has been around children in the neighborhood and is not aggressive. He’d do best with kids who can give him time to warm up.
* Good with Cats: Somewhat. Ollie lives with a sassy cat and they often ignore each other. He can be protective of his space at first, so he’ll need some time to get comfortable and learn to share his space. They should be supervised while they get to know each other, but with time and familiarity, he will likely settle in well.
* Treat Motivated: Somewhat! He’s especially motivated by treats when training indoors.
* House/Potty Trained: Yes! Ollie is reliably house trained.
* Leash Skills: Walks well on leash. He has a strong prey drive for bunnies and squirrels but is making good progress with redirection and training.
* Behavior in Public: Not aggressive. He was nervous at first but has gained confidence and now happily joins his foster parents for brunch and other outings. He’s also comfortable accepting pets from new people.
* Meeting New People: Nervous but friendly. He’s often very friendly when meeting people outside, including men. Indoors, he can be more cautious and needs some patience to warm up.
* Toys: Loves showing off his favorite toys and snuggling with them.
* Commands: Learning! Ollie is a quick learner and is making great progress with “place” and “down.”
