Story
Renato was found in the Rio Grande Valley, on the Texas/Mexico, super emaciated. Luckily he is now getting weight up. His finders wanted to keep but their dog didn’t accept him- chill dogs can find him annoying because he wants to play so he needs dogs that match his playfulness but he doesn’t require other dogs. Renato is your personal alarm clock! He enjoys a regular 5:50am potty break. He is good in his crate until he needs to potty and then will pound on the door- so, very potty trained. He is very food motivated, eager to learn & please and wants to be good. He has pretty yellow eyes. Renato likes affection- he escaped his crate one night to get in the bed, he wants to be with you. He chases the ball. This schnookums tail is wagging at all times when meeting new people, including kids, and dogs- if they growl he walks away. Nicolas is currently living in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas, awaiting an adopter or open foster home in Colorado to bring him up and into their home- the next transport arrives January 9th! Red Fern Animal Rescue offers a two week foster to adopt trial in your home before finalizing the adoption to ensure the animal is the right fit for you, everyone in the home, human & animal, and vice versa. Red Fern Animal Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit foster-based animal rescue in Denver that saves animals from abandonment and neglect in South Texas for new lives in Colorado. We primarily rescue dogs off the streets and from kill shelters in San Antonio. ##2616193##

Story
Meet Paige… a spunky 5 year old who is looking for a family to love and snuggle with. Paige was surrendered to us by a woman after she had been abandoned at her house for a year by a sibling. She has been an outside dog and is learning to be housed trained. She has been introduced to numerous dogs at her foster family and has had no trouble adjusting. Her favorite activity is sleeping… either in your lap, or on the back of the couch. When it’s time to go outside… she spins in circles with excitement then quickly runs outside to explore and sniff everything. She has excellent recall and comes back quickly when called if not on a leash. She is happiest when her person is near. She will make an excellent companion to anyone looking for unconditional love.*Disclaimer: This pet is located in Texas. Once adoption is finalized the pet will be transported to the adopters location for an additional fee (currently $300).* The adoption fee helps to cover some of the cost of vetting the animal prior to adoption (spay/neuter, microchipping, and up to date vaccinations). Please fill out an adoption application to be considered for adoption. https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=ch2817&method=online_form_html&formid=41

Story
Meet Treat! He really is the sweetest treat — a happy, playful little guy who would delight any family this holiday season. Treat loves zooming around the yard, chasing tiny tennis balls, and happily playing with teeny stuffies. He follows his foster brother around and plays wonderfully with other dogs.Treat is still a bit unsure about leash walking, but he’s improving every day with gentle practice. Because of this, he’d especially love a home with a yard where he can run and play confidently. He’s a champion sleeper, happily curling up in his crate and snoozing through the night. He can entertain himself while his foster mom works from home, and when he’s done playing, he loves to snuggle up for attention, kisses, and affection.Treat is working hard on his potty training and is making great progress with a consistent routine and his own quiet space. With just a little continued training, he’ll be a wonderful companion for kids, cats, or other dogs. This honey pie has so much love to give. He’s looking for an adopter who’s ready for playtime, continued training, and patience as he perfects his skills. In return, he’ll give you endless joy, cuddles, and the sweetest companion in return. ##2600136##

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) .   Colsen | ~10-year-old Dachshund | A big personality in a tiny package Colsen is an approximately 10-year-old Dachshund weighing around 10 pounds, and he is every bit the classic dachshund—opinionated, affectionate, and full of personality. He is reliably house trained with little to no accidents and does best on a consistent schedule. While he doesn’t use a specific signal to ask to go outside, routine works well for him. He walks beautifully on leash and genuinely enjoys getting out for strolls, making walks a fun and easy part of the day. Colsen is crate trained and does very well with it. He goes into his crate easily on command and sleeps through the night without issue. When left home alone, he is typically crated with at least one other dog and has been left for extended periods. He may whine or bark for a short time after his people leave or if another dog starts barking, but he settles down fairly quickly. He has positive, mostly indifferent interactions with other dogs and enjoys their company without needing to be overly involved. Colsen has had mixed but manageable interactions with cats. He may whine or get upset if a cat swats at him, but he does not retaliate. Occasionally, he may chase them when he’s feeling playful, though he has also had calm, positive interactions like sniffing and nose boops. He hasn’t met children yet, but he absolutely loves adults and shows no preference for men or women. Despite being a senior, Colsen has a medium energy level and is surprisingly energetic for his age. He enjoys short walks, playtime, wandering around the house or yard, and then settling in when it’s time to relax. He loves toys—especially hard rubber or plastic ones—and is extremely food motivated, living for praise, affection, and approval. He knows several commands, including sit, come, no, up, and “get in your crate.” True to his breed, Colsen can be strong-willed and a bit barky, and he sometimes jumps up or gets right in your face when he’s excited. With consistency and clear boundaries, he continues to make progress. Some of his favorite things include being under the covers, resting his head on you, offering a paw for attention, and rolling over for belly rubs. Colsen’s ideal home would be with someone who is home more often than not and enjoys interacting with their dog throughout the day. He would love a family who appreciates a dachshund’s big personality and is looking for a loyal, cuddly companion with plenty of spunk left to share.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $100. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
