Story
Bodie is around 7 years old. He’s over protective. He understands simple commands sit, speak, kennel. Snapping a finger . He’s kennel trained but that has lead him to be protective over his food when other pets or strangers are around. He is active and likes to play outside but he prefers to be outside with others. He’s grown up with cats. He doesn’t like wearing collars. He is more anxious than aggressive not liking people wearing hoods and usually putting himself in between arguments that has lead him to lurch and snap at whoever is being the most aggressive. He prefers sleeping in beds and under the blanket. He’s needy in always wanting to be next to whoever he bonds with having to be in the same room or if sitting in a chair at your feet. He doesn’t do well with thunderstorms.

Story
You could be the reason Lucy never has to lose another home.Lucy is a super sweet Dachshund mix with a wonderful personality who`s currently thriving in a foster home while working on potty training. She came from a home with four other dogs and is doing wonderfully with her foster family`s four dogs. Lucy found herself in need of a new beginning after her owner`s health made it impossible to continue caring for her. Now she`s looking for a calm, loving home where she can truly settle in. She`s a low energy sweetheart who would do best in a quiet home with another dog. Because she`s a little nervous, she`d be happiest in a home without children. She`ll also need a patient adopter to help her continue making progress with potty training. Dachshund mixDOB 6/23/202420lbsLucy is not at the shelter. Story
Meet Betty — a precious little dachshund mix weighing just 12 pounds. We believe Betty is around 8 to 10 years old, though our veterinarian will help confirm her age when she is spayed. It’s clear Betty has likely spent much of her life being used for breeding, and we are beyond grateful those days are now behind her. She came to us through a private rescuer after it was discovered her previous family no longer wanted her — something we simply cannot imagine, because Betty is pure sweetness. This darling girl is cuddly, gentle, and happiest when curled up in your lap. She has a kind soul and a loving heart, and all she truly wants is to be someone’s devoted little companion. Betty is ready to leave her past behind and spend her golden years exactly as she deserves — cherished, safe, and deeply loved. If you’d like to make this sweet dog part of your family, please review our adoption process and complete an application here: https://www.tracyspawsrescue.org/adopt Learn more about our rescue here: https://www.facebook.com/TracysPawsRescue Every dog adopted through Tracy’s Paws receives: • Chagas, heartworm, and tick testing (when age-appropriate) • All core vaccines (age-appropriate) • Heartworm and flea/tick preventatives • Regular Deworming • Spay/neuter surgery • Microchip Breed and age listings are our best guess, based on appearance. Story
Princess Emerald is a 6-year-old sweet extra-long dachshund and weighs 15 pounds.  Her foster Mom can't leave her soft ears alone and she loves to be petted and scratched. She wants to be with her person and wants to please. She is very smart and has learned the foster homes routine very quickly. She can be timid with the unexpected and will quick movements can startle her. She gets long with the calm, older dog in her foster home.  She is house broken if you let her out and she has used potty pads inside the home.  She had a doggie door in her previous home. Her favorite spot is inside on a big soft bed on the floor near her family. She needs a ramp for her to get on the couch or bed but with her long back she is probably better on the floor.  She is crate trained and will come when you call her name.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
#2 of the 6 Ice Cream Flavor Dogs Cookie Dough is a 3-year-old black and tan piebald dachshund and weighs 12 pounds, She and 5 other dachshunds, known as the Ice Cream Flavor dogs, were brought into Diamond Dachshund Rescue when her owner passed away.  Cookie Dough is the sweetest velcro pup!  She becomes very attached to her person and wants to stay close at all times.  She is incredibly loving and happiest when she can see or snuggle with her human.  Cooke Dough is cautious and prefers to be picked up only when she feels comfortable and is ready.  She will let you know when she needs space, so patience and respect for her boundaries are important as she continues learning to trust.  She will sit on your lap when you sit on the couch!   She is an excellent sleeping companion-she settles in, stays beside you and sleeps peacefully throughout the night.  Her foster home is patiently helping her understand that the crate is a safe place and never a punishment.  She is making progress.   Cookie Dough loves toys and chew bones.  She will play with a toy for a while.  She likes the other dogs in her foster home and wants to play when they go outside.  She will wrestle and wants to chase around the yard. Cookie Dough is a loving, loyal sweetheart who will thrive with a patient family that understands her need for reassurance, closeness and time to feel safe.  If you're looking for an affectionate little shadow who will adore being by your side, she may be the prfect pup for ou!  While Cookie Dough is good with adults, she isn't trusting enough of children. Since she was most likely not near them before, they make her nervous. Her best home would be one with no kids and most likely another dog to teach her further how to trust and feel safe.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
Meet Bashful . . . although her name might suggest otherwise, there’s nothing bashful about this girl! 🐾💗 Bashful is a super cute, spunky pup with a personality bigger than her little self! She’s confident, sweet, silly, and loves her people HARD. Once you’re her friend, prepare yourself for a whole lot of personality, affection, and silly antics that keep you laughing! ✨ Bashful is also a total toy enthusiast, and if there’s a squeaker involved, you can pretty much count her in! 🧸 Her favorite toys are the ones that make the most noise, because apparently every good play session needs a soundtrack! And if being adorable wasn’t enough, Bashful seems to have read the entire book on how to be a good dog 📖🐶 Her leash manners are excellent, she knows just about all of her basic commands, and anytime you call her name, she magically appears right at your feet! Bashful enjoys doggy play groups and does best with pups who match her energy and play style! She can feel a little intimidated by bigger dogs, so slow, thoughtful introductions are the best way to help her feel comfortable and set her up for success when meeting new canine friends! With her silly personality, excellent manners, love of toys, and BIG heart, Bashful is the kind of girl who makes it very easy to fall in love. And honestly? We think her name may be the only bashful thing about her! 🐾- Katy, HSNBA volunteerHSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Story
we call her Annie, she was born Nov 27, 2025. She has started She knows how to use wee wee pads, and go outside w a leash . and she is adorable and calm and sweet deserves a family of her own. She will need an experienced /patient adoptive family. I rescued several small dogs. Belle Starr , is a very petite five month old sweet girl she is indoor wee wee pad trained, she is very shy and skittish until she builds trust , she will do best when the patient adopter message me for an adoption application to be considered, has not been around kids yet, I FEEL SHE NEEDS TO BE ADOPTED TO A FAMILY WITH ANOTHER SMALL DOG FOR HER TO FOLLOW THE LEAD easier transition for her to learn the ropes . Her mom is a shih zu and dad a chiweenie. Text me your email address for an adoption application to be considered 830 237 8588 ✨ Special Adoption Opportunity – Small Chiweenie / Shih Tzu Mixes ✨ We have several of these sweet little rescue babies looking for very special adopters 💛 All of them are fully vetted, but they come from a very unique background. They spent their lives with one elderly owner (a truck driver) and had very limited interaction with the outside world. Because of this, many of them can be skittish and unsure around new people and environments. 🐾 What they’re used to: • Going in and out of a dog door • Sleeping in bed with their person • Living with other small dogs 🐾 What they need: • A patient, committed adopter who understands rescue dogs • A slow transition into their new home • Safe confinement at first (small room + wee wee pads) to build trust • Time to bond at their pace 🚫 These are NOT dogs that can be put straight into a backyard — they are flight risks and can easily get lost if scared. 💡 In my experience, they do BEST in homes that: • Already have another small, confident dog • Are willing to follow guidance and give them time to adjust • Understand that trust is earned, not forced The amazing news? ❤️ Several have already been successfully adopted by families who followed these steps — and they are now thriving in their new lives! These are what I lovingly call my “project babies” — they just need someone willing to give them a chance. If this sounds like the right fit for you, please reach out and I’ll send over an adoption application 🐶💛

Story
Available in TX only! King is a one year old Basset Hound/Lab mix with a gentle soul and a laid back nature. He is still gaining confidence and can be scared of new things, especially loud noises, but once he feels safe he settles in nicely. When he gets excited he can be a little jumpy, though most of the time he is calm and easygoing. King truly enjoys running around the yard, going on walks, and soaking up outdoor time. He has a playful side and loves playing fetch with frisbees and balls. Tug of war is another favorite game, and he is a big fan of chew time. Knuckle bones, hard chew toys for power chewers, and anything he can safely gnaw on make him very happy. King is crate trained and house trained, which makes him an easy addition to a home. King does have a prey drive and enjoys chasing squirrels and frogs, and he will chase cats, so a cat free home is recommended. He also has a sensitive stomach and does best on sensitive stomach dog food. King would thrive in a patient, understanding home that will give him time to build confidence and continue showing him the world is a safe place. With love and consistency, he will be a loyal and loving companion. To apply directly for King, push the "Apply for Adoption" button. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-751
