Story
Meet Sophie Lynn!     Sophie Lynn has been waiting over a year to find her forever family — and she’s ready to prove she’s worth the wait!   This sweet 8 year old dachshund mix is a little shy when she first meets new people (she just needs a moment to warm up), but once she trusts you, she is the most loving, affectionate companion you could ask for. Give her a chance and you’ll have a friend for life.     Why Sophie Lynn is a great fit for your home:     •  Fully potty trained AND crate trained — she’s got great house manners •  Gets along great with other dogs •  Loves playing fetch with her favorite toys •  Always up for a good walk •  A total cuddle bug who wants nothing more than to curl up next to you on the couch or bed •  Will happily trade her heart for treats and attention   Sophie Lynn just wants someone to be patient with her shyness and love her back tenfold. She’s been overlooked for too long — could you be the one to finally bring her home?     Come meet Sophie Lynn today — her forever family might be you!      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
Layla is that teddy bear you wanted as a kid but never had. She is soft and very loveable. She also gives out love in spades. Layla has a healthy appetite as well as a trashy one, so make sure you keep that small trash can empty. The bonus if you do is, her kisses are the best and plentiful. If you have a ball, she’ll want it. Give it a toss to see her chase it and play. So joyful. She also enjoys walks, car rides, and all your attention. Layla gets along okay with most other dogs, at least the one smaller than her. She has seen a trainer for some prior issues, but those seem to be in the past. Layla would prefer to be an only dog in a home that doesn't have alot of traffic such as unknown guests. If it’s just you looking for a pal, she’s the one. So, what are you waiting for? Fill out that paperwork and give Layla that furever home Layla is a mix.  She weighs 22 pounds and is 7 years old. Story
Bonded Sister of Finley Robert Hi there! We are Emory (Emme) & Finley! I am Emme and I am the big sister. I am 8 years old and weigh13 pounds. My brother Finley is 7 years old and he weighs 19 pounds. We are Blue Isabella Dachshunds, and we don’t know you but we love you already. We love everyone! My little brother and I were surrendered to DDRTX due to our previous family having too busy of a schedule. We do have diluted color alopecia due to the type of dachshund we are but we don’t let that slow us down one bit! We are extremely happy, love attention, are great with kids, and are potty trained. We are not intimidated by a house full of children…we may be just as loud as they are. The more humans, the more people to love on us! My brother and I love being around humans and we do good with other dogs as well. We spend our days lounging on the couch, begging for pets, playing with toys, and snuggling with each other or the closest human around. If you would like to know more about us or meet us, make sure to fill out an application! A Note From Our Foster Mom – If you are looking for a silly and happy pair who throw the biggest welcome party every time you get home…then Emme and Finley are for you! These 2 are the sweetest dogs and are so easy to fall in love with.  They experienced a lot of alone time with their previous family so it’s like they have it all built up and clobber you with love. They take a little time to adjust but I can guarantee a lot of laughs, smiles, and cuddles with these 2 sweet & rambunctious siblings.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
Meet Mochi Chip, an adorable little guy with a spunky personality! Mochi had a loving home, unfortunately due to conflicting schedules he was spending too much time in his crate. His owner recognized he deserved better and now he is looking for a family that can give him the love and attention he needs.    Mochi is 1.5 years old and still very "puppy" like, as he's very active and VERY energetic. He does require a little extra attention and supervision, and plenty of enriching activities to keep him occupied. He absolutely loves toys and running around, so a safe yard for his zoomies is a must!   The perfect adopter will need to understand Mochi's quirks, as many dachshunds he barks at strangers, he gets into the occasional shoe if it's within reach, and he is not fully housebroken just yet; adopter will need to invest some time and energy to continue working on potty training. Mochi does great in the crate and even goes in by himself at night. He enjoys car rides and his most favorite spot is next to you on the couch while you rub behind his ears. That is when he's the most calm and happy. Other than that he will follow you at every chance he gets!   Mochi seems to do well with older, gentle kids and would love someone to play with. He is sort of a ladies' man so he seems to gravitate towards women and female dogs. Male dogs not so much, especially if they are bigger than him, that makes him feel threatened for some reason but applications from families with big dogs will be considered on a case by case basis.   Mochi has been recently neutered, microchipped, and has received his shots, so he is ready to meet adopters. This sweet boy has a lot of potential, all he needs is love, patience, and understanding, and we know the right family will help him become the best version of himself! Are you ready to take on the Mochi challenge? In exchange you'll get an adorable, very affectionate little dog that will bring lots of joy to your home!               Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
Maddie Luna is 6 months old and a typical happy puppy with gorgeous eyes. She loves people and playing with her foster sisters. She is doing a great job with her house training. She needs a home with at least one dog that will play with her and a yard.  She is getting better about walking on a leash and she loves sleeping in the big bed with her people. She has been going to doggy daycare which has helped immensely with her socialization.     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas. Story
#2 of 9 Country Music Stars Hank Williams is figuring out life in a loving, safe environment. While he is very cautious and slow to trust new people, he has already come a long way since he first arrived in foster care! He also still has a long way to go though, and he will need a very patient home with another playful, confident dog(s) and lots of TLC to heal the trauma of his past life.    Hank acts like two different dogs at the same time. Once he knows and trusts you, which takes a lot of time and patience, he is as happy, wiggly and affectionate as can be, seeking attention and giving kisses. But any loud noise, sudden movement, or unexpected/untrusted people can send him reeling back into his fearful state, hiding and barking in an effort to protect himself. He is very fearful of meeting new people and will need to be on a secure harness anytime he is outside, as he is very skittish.    More about Hank:    - Hank LOVES toys and romping with his young foster brother. He will need a confident, playful canine sibling in his ideal forever home.  - Hank reacts poorly when meeting new people, especially most men and young children. He still runs away from his foster dad and barks loudly at him whenever he walks from room to room or tries to give him a toy, but he will also seek snuggles from him occasionally when relaxing on the couch and has also begun taking treats from him. - Hank LOVES treats and meals, though he also still seems to have some anxiety around meal times. He eats very fast and sometimes throws up afterward, so a slow feed bowl is a good tool to help him slow down. - Hank is mostly house trained but not completely. He will need additional patience in a new home as he adjusts to the new environment and schedule.  - Hank is a very curious boy, but only when he feels very safe. He likes to investigate the dishwasher, look out of windows (so clear off anything you might have on a window sill he can reach haha!), poke around sniffing everything, and steal shoes.  - Hank absolutely needs to be on a harness when out for walks as he’s very jumpy outside. He does pretty well in the backyard, exploring and following the pack around.  - Hank currently has a love/hate relationship with his crate. We couldn’t get him to come out of it for the first week, but now he’s showing some anxiety around being crated when we leave. He will go in happily to eat but cries if we latch it.    Overall, Hank is a good boy just seeking comfort and love. He is still finding himself and learning about the world. With patience, love, and encouragement, we know he will blossom into an amazing companion for the person who chooses to invest in him!     Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please see FAQs for current adoption fees.  DDRTX only adopts in Central/South Texas.
