Meet Roman! Roman’s journey to rescue began when he was found running in and out of traffic, putting himself in serious danger. Thankfully, a kindhearted woman stopped to help and brought him straight to a veterinarian to make sure he wasn’t injured and to check for a microchip. Roman was not microchipped, was unneutered, and despite efforts to locate his family through social media and other lost-and-found resources, no one came forward to claim him. His rescuer wanted to keep him safe but knew her farm, with several large dogs, wasn’t the right environment for a little Dachshund. Knowing Mini Wonders Adoptions has a special place in our hearts for Dachshunds, she reached out to ask if we could help—and of course, we said yes! Roman has now been fully vetted. He has been examined by our veterinarian, neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and tested negative for heartworms. He is healthy, happy, and ready to start the next chapter of his life. Now all Roman needs is a loving forever home with someone who understands the Dachshund breed and is committed to giving him the love, patience, and care he deserves. He longs to be a cherished member of a family and can’t wait to find the people he can call his own.

Princess Emerald is a 6-year-old sweet extra-long dachshund and weighs 15 pounds. Her foster Mom can't leave her soft ears alone and she loves to be petted and scratched. She wants to be with her person and wants to please. She is very smart and has learned the foster homes routine very quickly. She can be timid with the unexpected and will quick movements can startle her. She gets long with the calm, older dog in her foster home. She is house broken if you let her out and she has used potty pads inside the home. She had a doggie door in her previous home. Her favorite spot is inside on a big soft bed on the floor near her family. She needs a ramp for her to get on the couch or bed but with her long back she is probably better on the floor. We are Blue Isabella Dachshunds, and we don’t know you, but we love you already. We love everyone! My little brother and I were surrendered to DDRTX due to our previous family having too busy of a schedule. We do have diluted color alopecia due to the type of dachshund we are but we don’t let that slow us down one bit! We are extremely happy, love attention, are great with kids, and are potty trained. We are not intimidated by a house full of children…we may be just as loud as they are. The more humans, the more people to love on us! My brother and I love being around humans and we do good with other dogs as well. We spend our days lounging on the couch, begging for pets, playing with toys, and snuggling with each other or the closest human around. They take a little time to adjust but I can guarantee a lot of laughs, smiles, and cuddles with these 2 sweet & rambunctious siblings. #2 of the 6 Ice Cream Flavor DogsCookie Dough is a 3-year-old black and tan piebald dachshund and weighs 12 pounds, She and 5 other dachshunds, known as the Ice Cream Flavor dogs, were brought into Diamond Dachshund Rescue when her owner passed away. Cookie Dough is shy and doesn't want to be picked up but will sit on your lap when you sit on the couch! She will lay beside you in the big bed too! Cookie Dough loves toys and chew bones. She will play with a toy for a while. She likes the other dogs in her foster home and wants to play when they go outside. She will wrestle and wants to chase around the yard. While Cookie Dough is good with adults, she isn't trusting enough of children. Since she was most likely not near them before, they make her nervous. Her best home would be one with no kids and most likely another dog to teach her further how to trust and feel safe. Brin Joy is a sweet 8-year-old Dachshund who came to rescue through no fault of her own. Brin Joy takes a bit to warm up to new people but once she does she is a total sweetheart who loves any and all affection!! She will snuggle up under a blanket next to a human or one of her foster siblings. She does well with dogs of various ages, sizes and energy levels. She goes crazy for squeaky toys and loves to play chase in the yard with any dog willing to run with her. We have learned that Brin needs the comfort another dog in the home, especially when you are gone. She is not a fan of the dog door but is very good about letting you know when she wants to go outside. Her left ear seems to be permanently sticking straight up which is very cute. Layla is that teddy bear you wanted as a kid but never had. She is soft and very loveable. She also gives out love in spades. Layla has a healthy appetite as well as a trashy one, so make sure you keep that small trash can empty. The bonus if you do is, her kisses are the best and plentiful. If you have a ball, she’ll want it. Give it a toss to see her chase it and play. So joyful. She also enjoys walks, car rides, and all your attention. Layla gets along okay with most other dogs, at least the one smaller than her. She has seen a trainer for some prior issues, but those seem to be in the past. Layla would prefer to be an only dog in a home that doesn't have alot of traffic such as unknown guests. If it’s just you looking for a pal, she’s the one. So, what are you waiting for?
