I love food, including anything left unattended on the coffee table. I weigh around 23 pounds. I have some aches and pains and they cause me to not like to be picked up very much or rubbed too hard. I do like laying next to my foster brother and sisters. I like to be on the big bed, but will get down and go sleep on a dog bed.  My foster Mom was surprised to see that I like baths.  She is very gentle when picking me up and putting me in the tub and I love her rubbing shampoo into my fur.  I come out smelling good and looking more handsome than normal. I have discovered tennis balls and love playing with them.  I am learning to share them with other dogs and people.  I like to play with my foster brother even though I can't play very long as my joints start to ache. Younger children make me nervous but would do well with teens and adults who are careful with my sore joints.  If you are looking for a sweet-natured mature chap to give you his undivided attention, I am your man! Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Bonded with Holly Bea - Bonded pairDouble Dapple Chip may be blind and mostly deaf, but with his absolutely precious “seeing eye” sister, Holly (also a double dapple) there to help him, he’s close to perfect!  these two are friendly, gentle, loving, kissy, and soak up the attention.  One would have a hard time realizing he’s vision impaired as he easily discovered his “space” and can go in and out the dog door just perfectly fine.  If you have a smaller yard, and a dog door, he’ll easily learn how to maneuver and Holly will help him (and you!) immensely. they are as loving as they are gorgeous!  Please consider offering these two a place in your home for the rest of their days so that they can live life with comfort, security, and lots of snuggles.  Chip is 13 years old. Email:  ddrtxinfo@gmail.com                 Primary Website:  www.DDRTX.org Kendall Leigh found herself as a stray at a shelter who reached out to DDRTX for help.  Kendall was having some back issues and they knew they wouldn't be able to adopt her out and that she needed help.  Kendall went straight to one of our vets and was on crate rest and meds to help her heal.  She has also had several acupuncture treatments which have worked wonders.  She has recovered wonderfully, walking and running wherever she wants to go! This little lady is pure Diva!  She has so much personality and is just in need of an understanding, loving home.  Food is a major motivation to her and while that is a common characteristic for dachshunds, it is very strong for her.  But with her previous back trouble, her weight definitely should be managed. Heidi is very well adjusted and holds herself well with a lot of confidence. She is very sweet and friendly and has gotten along well with her foster brother and sister. She is pretty much house trained and doggie door trained but does if you open the door for her to go outside for potty. She does well walking on a leash and riding in a car. She loves to received belly rubs and be given attention. She will quickly roll over and expose her belly to you while her helicopter tail keeps wagging nonstop. She still needs some help with manners, specially not jumping up and down from furniture. If she’s given the option of a fluffy bed on the ground with multiple blankets (along with a stern NO if she looks like she is about to jump on the couch), she’ll pick the bed. She LOVES having blankets!   Heidi had a recent vet check and the vet says she is a healthy pet.    Heidi is 15 years old and weighs 14 pounds.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.
