Story
Est. DOB: 05/15/2024 Adoption fee: $275 *(Adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate current vaccines, microchip, and preventative flea treatment.) Dudley is an energetic Dachshund mix with a huge personality and plenty to say. This resilient little guy has been through a lot, including spending time unhoused and living in a car, but he's survived it all with determination and spirit intact. Dudley is very guarded with new people and makes his opinions known loudly. He barks at strangers and takes time to accept new people into his circle. He is not the kind of dog who instantly warms up to everyone, and he will need an experienced adopter who understands dogs that are protective, wary, and slow to trust. Once Dudley feels secure and builds a relationship with you, he is loyal, devoted, and deeply bonded to his people. He wants stability, structure, and a home where he feels safe. Because of his vocal nature and alert personality, he would do best in a house rather than an apartment. Dudley is looking for an adult-only home without children and with someone committed to continuing his training and helping him navigate the world successfully. He needs patience, consistency, and clear boundaries from someone willing to earn his trust instead of expecting instant affection. This little guy has already proven how tough and resilient he is. Now he's ready for a fresh start with the right person someone who sees past his tough exterior and is willing to give him the secure, understanding home he deserves. Apply today! https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SSAR/Dog Disclaimer: Please note that dogs in a rescue environment may behave differently than they would in a home setting. While we do our best to assess each dogs habits and behaviors, we cannot guarantee that any dog is fully potty trained or will not have accidents after adoption. Changes in environment, routine, stress levels, and transition into a new home can all impact a dogs house-training habits. Patience, consistency, and continued training may be needed as the dog adjusts to their new home. Breed descriptions are provided as a general estimate based on the dog's size, shape, and appearance. These descriptions are not definitive and should be considered a "guestimate." Since we cannot always know the exact breed mix of our rescue animals, the information provided is simply an educated guess. We got Polly from a farmer. Her Dad was a pure bred Dachshund. Her mother was a pure bred Blue Heeler. She is 5 years old. She is very playful, fetch all day long! I don't want to rehome her but it is now about her safety. She has anxiety and bites the kennel even with Prozac. She needs someone retired or works from home. It's not fair to her. Thanks

Hi! My name is Duke and I am available for adoption!I came to RASKC on June 4, 2026 with my brother Luke after my owner passed away. We are currently in a foster home and really enjoy being with one another! We make get into a little bicker when we are in too close fo a space, but we love to sleep, play and be near each other. We are really hoping to find a home where we can be together :)I weigh 13.8 lbs and am considered a `small breed` dog.I am an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!Surprisingly I am full of energy and I love to play! I tend to calm down more when the people around me stay calm. I do best when I have lots of exercise and something to keep my mind busy.My caregivers have noticed that I seem to do well with other dogs. I came in with a buddy, Luke. We aren`t bonded but it would be nice if we could go home together. When meeting dogs in a new home, I would do best with a slow introduction.I really like to play around in pools and fountains, laze on couches or go on hikes with my buddies. I`m also a chatty cathy who will talk to you all day.I am an adaptable dog who loves to go with the flow! I am outgoing and carefree, and I just can`t wait to find my forever home!I am currently in a foster home, please fill out a foster interest form for the chance to meet me!

Story
PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. 2-year-old male purebred Dachshund, about 17 pounds. Morty is a handsome little piebald dachshund who came to Smidget with his mom (Smidget Emma), after his owner passed away. He has an outgoing personality, a lot of energy, and his favorite place to be is on your lap. Despite all of the changes he's faced in his short life, this resilient pup is living his best life! He has been incredibly well behaved in his foster home, including two cats and two other small dogs. He walked in like he's lived here his whole life! Mortimer has a basic foundation for obedience and house training. He already knows sit and is learning better manners on leash. We are working on new skills almost daily, since he is so eager to please. Like every dog, he had a few potty accidents when he was learning the layout of the home, but he is getting better every day. He's sleeping a full night in his kennel but struggles a little when kenneling in daytime hours. He would do best in an active home with a fenced yard, that offers him outlets for his energy. Mortimer loves to play - his favorites have been frisbees and tennis balls. He is already trying to snatch frisbees out of the air! Do not let his semi-short stature fool you - he is extremely athletic and capable of jumping onto beds, couches, into cars, and onto laps. He is VERY fast and will need ongoing work on his recall. He hasn't shown any food aggression during playtime or dinner time with two other small dogs. He is very cuddly and cozy; I've panicked several times when I couldn't find him because he was completely wrapped himself up in a blanket. The only behavior that is being actively addressed is his protective streak. He seems to be moderately reactive to new people and will guard his human. Morty has had some issues with jumping up and being mouthy and nipping when he meets new people. BUT, once he knows you, he LOVES you. His protective Doxie streak requires proper introductions and correction. That said, Mortimer is eager to please/meet new people and is getting better at recognizing social cues from his foster mom and other dogs. He is extremely trainable and very food motivated. We know he will chase a cat and he is not the best candidate for homes with children. To request an adoption application, email smidgetrescue@hotmail.com Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend or through scheduled meet and greet after application review. For a list of scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events .
