Story
Dudley is an energetic, dachshund mix who’s ready for a fresh start. Despite a tough beginning—he was unhoused and living in a car—this little guy hasn’t lost his zest for life. Dudley can be unsure of new people and will need time and patience to build trust. Once he feels safe, his loyal and loving nature shines through. He’s also quite vocal, so he may not be the best fit for apartment living. This brave boy has already shown how resilient he is. Now he’s ready for the next chapter—a stable, caring home where he can finally feel secure and loved. Could you be the one to give Dudley the happily ever after he deserves? Apply today! https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/SSAR/Dog Note: Breed descriptions are provided as a general estimate based on the dog's size, shape, and appearance. These descriptions are not definitive and should be considered a "guestimate." Since we cannot always know the exact breed mix of our rescue animals, the information provided is simply an educated guess. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BIO ON THIS DOG BEFORE REQUESTING AN APPLICATION. MANY OF OUR DOGS HAVE STRICT REQUIREMENTS FOR THEIR ADOPTION. To see more pictures of this dog, please visit our Facebook page and look under “photos” and then “albums”. 4-year-old female Dachshund, about 17 pounds. Emma is a super sweet and friendly girl that was surrendered with her son and a cat sister. She is a doll baby. Loves everyone, loves to eat, loves to snuggle. She is not a big barker but does whine when she wants something. She is looking for a Doxie savvy family that understands what owning a long-backed dog means, ramps and all. A family ready to keep her back safe, belly trim and body well exercised! She is a tad overweight at this time! She is crate trained, learning to walk on a leash, does great with the dogs in her foster home. Great for toenails and bathing. Would do best with a secure yard and older Doxie savvy children. Obviously great with cats! Adoption contract and fee applies. All adoptable dogs can be met at adoption events hosted every weekend or by private meet and greet after application review. For a list of current scheduled events go to: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/events. Smidget Rescue is not a shelter, and dogs cannot be seen at the Rescue location. All dogs are fostered throughout the Puget Sound area and are brought to the events where they can be met by prospective adopters. Additional pictures of adoptable dogs can be seen at: https://www.facebook.com/SmidgetRescue/photos_stream?tab=photos_albums. All adoptable dogs are spayed or neutered at 6 months of age or older. Puppies are adopted with a refundable spay/neuter deposit (in addition to the adoption fee) and adopters are required to get their puppy to our vet for their pre-scheduled spay-neuter appointments. APPLICATIONS CAN BE OBTAINED BY EMAIL ONLY. Adoption process includes application, meet & greet, home visit and reference check. Email Jamie at smidgetrescue@hotmail.com or click on the CONTACT link on this page. PLEASE DOUBLE CHECK YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS BEFORE SENDING. Notice: We do not ship dogs out of state. You must live within a three-hour radius of Seattle, WA, (such as Portland, Vancouver B.C., etc.), so we can arrange for a home visit.

Story
Hi! My name is Moncler and I am available for adoption.I was brought in by my previous owner on 5/20/26 because they could no longer care for me. They described me as loving and obedient but that I can be a bit scared of strangers at first.Because of my shy nature, I would do best in a calm, quiet home without smaller children. I am a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. I may get nervous in new situations, so I am looking for a family who understands that I might take some time to warm up. Once I get to know you, I will be a very devoted friend!

Story
Hello, My name is Gigi (short for Guinevere). I am a super sweet little girl. I am a bit shy, a bit scared of new things and environments, but am a SUPER CLING ON that loves her humans! And I am on the hunt for my SUPER CLING ON aka snuggly human! I think I am a full bred short haired doxie, as my mommy was, but we do not know for sure who my father is/ what breed he was. I am about 12 lbs and about 6-7 years old, female, cuter that cute wiggly worm (see my zero great pics.. I wiggle A LOT). I have super short hair, and am cold all the time, so I want to snuggle all day everyday, and be held, and carried around wherever you go. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. I like to lick your feet and be under them. I am a MAJOR tripping hazard. Not that this is a requirement, but it basically is. My story is long… I can tell you if we get to our… 2nd visit?... or at least 2nd smooches… and, not sure about you, but I give LOTS of smooches. Basic story: My doggie mom died when I was 3 DAYS old from (advanced stage 3 heartworms)… and my 2 sisters (one passed within a week), and I were bottle babies- at an age not survivable by almost anyone. My other sister was my bosom bestie until a few months ago when she passed. I also lost my human mom. Anyways, I am not used to being alone. I can be taught, but there will be a learning curve. I like food, but the soft and yummy type. I need a dental, plus I never loved hard kibble. SO…. if I'm left in a safe spot, and a new routine is established, I will learn to be ok again. My foster mom has worked on it, and a sound machine has been her life saver apparently… she says mine too... But if that crazy lady would just commit to 24/7 snuggles we wouldn't have this issue! Foster mom is odd… she only gives 16/7 snuggles… she blames work…???... I call it RUDE. This ‘work’ of hers… they must be awful to not let her have 24/7 snuggles! Not my kind of people! I'm not good on those choke ropes… “leashes.” Foster mom keeps trying to momsplain/ ‘tell’ me they are necessary so I don't get too far away…. And so critters dont swoop after me and eat me… im long and lean and skinny just the right size for a bird of prey or coyote she says… but … whatever… I hate those “leashes!” (aka I need leash training slowly). In summary: I love to cuddle, dance, lick your feet, be silly, tap dance with my super huge feet to body ratio. I need a home that loves me for me, doesn't trip on dogs under their feet constantly, and can cuddle me as close to 24/7 as we get! Oh, also, I have been piddling on rugs and in the house… and outside like every 60 seconds… so foster mom took me to the vet, I am on an antibiotic, and will get results Monday to see if this is the right antibiotic. But I may need to stay away from rugs/ carpet for a bit at least. I am heartworm negative, and up to date on my 3 years rabies (just redone), microchipped, just had blood work today, and soon to be up to date on my other vaccines. Before I was adopted the 1st time, I had not weighed enough to be spayed… even at 3 years old. My adopter chose not to spay me as I was still tiny, and not around any other dogs, except my sister. I need to be re-evaluated for a spay when I get my dental, once I am adopted. My adoption fee is $400, but with proof of dental and spay evaluation, $200 of this will be refunded.

Story
General about info for the dogs currently listed in this group: Permanent, Loving Homes Needed for Senior Rescue Dogs Over many years, I have monitored and tried to help this particular group of dogs. These dogs have been loved, responsibly vetted, and cared for throughout their lives, though not in an ideal overall situation. They were in a somewhat hoarding situation… not the typical not cared for at all one, but still applies. They were kept clean and fed and I paid for most of their vet care along the way, but their owner would not surrender them until now. Due to this: Adoption fees are all $300, but will be returned once proof of dental is given. I am finally allowed to find them homes, and cannot provide the level of long-term veterinary care these dogs deserve — including dental work, senior monitoring, and ongoing medical needs, thus, I am seeking permanent, stable homes where their remaining years can be lived with comfort, dignity, and consistency. What I am looking for • A calm, stable home • Someone experienced with senior dogs • Financial ability to provide ongoing veterinary and dental care • A commitment to keep them for life — no rehoming • Patience, kindness, and realistic expectations These dogs are older (aged 8 to 12 years old), and while many are still active, affectionate, and content, they will require the kind of care someone prepared for senior dogs can provide. What I will provide Full transparency about age, temperament, and medical needs Important medical history is known I do not have every vaccine record/etc but they are all spayed/ neutered, microchipped, and current on rabies vaccines Time for proper introductions Careful, thoughtful placement — this will not be rushed I am open to placing individual dogs or compatible pairs, and I will work closely with the right people to ensure a good match. If you are genuinely experienced with senior dogs and are prepared — financially and emotionally— to care for one for the rest of their life, please reach out by private message and tell me about yourself, your home, and your experience. These dogs deserve peace, safety, and love for the remainder of their lives. Thank you for reading with compassion. Hello, My name is Aurora. I am about 9 years old, and was born 10/7/2017. I am fully vetted, and in great health. First of all, please know I am WAY cuter than my pictures do justice. I am a little wiggle butt, and my foster parents have had trouble getting a good picture of me. Also, the white on my face makes me look way older than I act. It has progressed since I was a baby, but I really dont act like an old lady! My only issue is that I am desperate need of a dental cleaning. My teeth are better than my sister from the same litter, who just found a home, but she had to have almost all of her teeth removed. I will most likely need at least a good portion of mine removed as well. The good news is that my shining personality will make up for this slight issue. I am beyond happy to do whatever you do, as long as you give me a chance to get to know you. My dog mommy, whom I was around for the 1st year of my life, and thus learned a lot from her, was super nervous natured. I am not like her often, except at first in new situations. I will need probably about 2 weeks to settle in before you try to take me on walks outside or anything similar. I do use potty pads very well, though so that makes this transition time easier. I am silly with a lot of energy. I do like food, but not super food obsessed. I love cats and other small dogs. I will NOT do well around children unless they are older and super patient and super calm with me. I am FULLY vetted: fixed, 3 year rabies, DDAVP, microchip, heartworm tested negative multiple times, including recently, and current on heartworm and flea preventative. My stuff comes with me (crate, bed, toys, hw flea prev for 3-6 months depending on where I am in between vet visits). Still needed: dental, and lepto if you plan on taking me outside in any possible standing water your yard or other places. This wasnt a thing in Houston, but apparently is here.
