Story
Ryder is a sweet boy that we rescued about two years ago. He is perfect with people who give him his space until he trusts them. The issue is that he is very aggressive toward strainers and people that try to approach him other than our household members and a hand full of others. He will bite if he feels threatened, he has become a liability for our family due to the fact that in two years of training he still occasionally becomes aggressive out of the blue and will bite people. He is small so bites have caused minimal damage but we have children and their friends and our friends are have been bitten in some rare instances. He really is sweet and needs a companion to devote a lot of time. He is very attached to me but does not like any other men. He could be a great companion for an individual that lives alone and has a lot of time for snuggling and playing.

Story
Introducing Shadowfax! He is a senior boy, but you would never know it from the energy he has to play with all his doggie friends. He plays hard and cuddles hard and loves all humans and doggies. He is curious about cats but doesn’t chase. He stays well in crate while his foster is at work, but sleeps in bed at night. He has the doggie door mastered and uses it regularly. He would make a great single dog but would be great in a pack. Shadowfax is about 11 years old and weighs 18 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.April 27, 2024, 4:54 am

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter AKA Wishbone is a very good boy, he is house trained, has very good house manners and is respectful of the resident dog. He loves people and is a good playmate with dogs. He is very smart and picked up sit and shake right away.  Wishbone really likes to be close and cuddle with people. He can be a goofy guy when he wants to play, and he likes chew toys and plush toys. He really likes to crawl under the covers and let’s out some good snores.  Wishbone could use some more leash training, but he is a fast learner! We are still working on getting him comfortable in the kennel, but he is able to be left alone in a spare room with a baby gate and will settle quite fast. Walter may bark when left alone for a few mins, but will settle fairly quickly. Wishbone does not bark at people or dogs or when someone knocks on the door. Wishbone would love a home with another dog to play with and someone to play and cuddle with him. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Hi, my name is Mielle, though my foster mom calls me Mama or Missy. I am a doxy mix born approximately 2/20/22. I came to Minnesota all the way from Tijuana. I wasn’t too sure about the cold and snow but I like it better now that it’s getting warmer. My foster mom doesn’t know if I was a stray or in a shelter in Tijuana but she thinks possibly a stray. I’m pretty timid around new people and will hide from them. It takes me A LOT of time to adjust to new surroundings and people but once I do, watch out, as I will tempt you to play with me or follow you around. I live with my foster brother who leaves me alone. I’ve tried playing with him but get shy when he joins. I like having my kennel open during the day to nap in when I get tired, otherwise I like to explore the house, play with my toys or chill on the couch while my foster mom works. I'm fully house trained. I let her know I have to go out by whining at her and then heading to the back door. I like looking under the fence at the neighbors and would sneak into their yard if I could. So I need supervision while outside doing my business. No matter what, I get the zoomies every time I go outside now that it’s warmer out and have to do a couple laps before getting down to business. I like to sleep in my kennel at night with my blankets and a toy for when I wake up too early to come out.  The perfect family for me would be patient with me as I learn my boundaries and what they expect from me. They would love me and give me lots of pets and treats, or let me have my alone time when I need it. I’m good with smaller dogs. I have not been tested around bigger pups, or cats, whatever they are.     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 3:52 pm

Story
I found Norma while I was in college, she was a 1 year old farm dog with 3 other siblings, and the elderly couple who owned her placed an ad on Craigslist looking to rehome one of their dachshunds. She has always been a great and loyal dog to me for 5 years, she is great with my 7 month old kid, she travels well, loves to snuggle and go for walks. I'm just looking for a home with people who have enough time to give her everything she needs. Life for my family is changing, my work schedule is becoming more demanding, and I think that too often, Norma is the one to go without the attention she deserves...

Story
Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
