Story
Introducing Shadowfax! He is a senior boy, but you would never know it from the energy he has to play with all his doggie friends. He plays hard and cuddles hard and loves all humans and doggies. He is curious about cats but doesn’t chase. He stays well in crate while his foster is at work, but sleeps in bed at night. He has the doggie door mastered and uses it regularly. He would make a great single dog but would be great in a pack. Shadowfax is about 11 years old and weighs 18 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Story
Welcome Daisey to CCPAL foster program. She is an 8-year-old Dachshund/Corgi is our best guess. She has a longer body and upright ears. She is a scenting breed for sure. She is active and social and not the couch potato dog. She weighs 25 pounds. She is good with a dog smaller and a dog larger. The larger dog is a pit Bull and she does good with that more dominant dog as well. She is around children and is a great dog for a family with kiddos. She has a 5 year old and a baby in her home. This family has found they have to move into a rental house. The rental house will only allow 2 dogs. They are sad but there is no other option. Pit Bulls are tougher to rehome so she is rehoming her favorite dog. She was crying telling this story. Daisey is potty trained, good on a leash, good in a car, good with other dogs, kids and strangers. She will need a fenced yard or walked on a leash. She can catch a scent and wonder off. She has a nice sturdy body and will make a great companion for an active family or active senior. She can be an only dog or go with another dog. This dog has a lot of good years in front of her and is by no means an old acting dog. She is in good health, vaccinated, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is a shedding dog but only moderately. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to help get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter is a goofy and cuddly guy who wants to be near his people. He loves laying in the sun, going on walks, treats & toys and being under the covers.    Walter needs a fully fenced yard as he can be quite the escape artist. He likes to run for short bursts in the yard and find smells to roll in.  Walter gets along with his two resident dogs, but is still learning polite greetings with new dogs.   Walter is very curious, and needs someone who can be patient and reassure him. He is still working on leash training and is currently demonstrating some reactivity with other dogs. Based on the fosters observations we beleive that Walter may be hard of hearing.   Walter is left home with the resident dogs for a few hours at a time. He is known to be a snoop and counter surfer, so he is put in a room with our resident dog. He will settle when left with a doggy friend.    Walter picks up on patterns and routines quickly. He is not a quiet boy and will express his needs.   At this time, we do not how Walter does with kids or cats. Walter tends to be curious, cautious and skittish around new animals and meeting people outside the home.    Currently we are working on basic obedience and leash etiquette.    (At this time, we are unsure about Walter’s hearing and are working with MARS vet) If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. At this time we do not accept checks.   Our Adoption fees for all animals cover required vetting: which includes, Rabies, Distemper Vaccine Series, Bordetella, Deworming, Heartworm Test as age appropriate, Spay or Neuter and Microchip and registration. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Hello, my Name is Mielle (Mi-el) – it means “honey” in English (even though it is not technically spelled correctly in Spanish, I am not sure what happened there). I think I was given this name because of my honey-like colored coat that resembles the color of honey! You may ask why my name is Mielle instead of honey, well that is because I came from Tijuana, Mexico, which is where my journey started. I have had a rough short two years of life this far and have not really had a chance to feel safe until I came to Minnesota with No Dog Left Behind Rescue. My foster moms have been so kind, sweet, loving and caring, but I have a huge guard up. I think it may be fair to share my story so if you are really truly interested in adopting me, you understand it will take time and patience.  I am originally from Tijuana, Mexico. I spent the first year of my life as a stray, running the streets of Mexico. I learned how to defend myself and take care of myself without the help of any humans. After some time, I was taken into foster care. That time is a little fuzzy and I was not comfortable because I was so used to being a stray, so humans scared me. During that time, I ended up having puppies, which was back in October of just last year (2023). After I had my puppies (3 months later), I was brought to MN in January 2024. As you can imagine that is a lot for a little girl like me, who is only 2 years old. When I came to MN. I was timid, shy and unsure of what was going on. I was put into yet another foster home without anything familiar to me. There I spent about 2.5 months with my new foster mom, she was great, but it did take me a while to adjust to the new setting. I was scared, so I didn’t want to come out of my crate for a few days, but my foster mom would take me out to go potty. After about a week, I finally decided I was in a safe place and could start to relax a little more with my foster mom and walk around the yard with her on my leash. However, the foster mom had a son, and he scared me, like really scared me, something traumatic in Mexico must have happened with a man so they really scare me. When I would see foster moms’ son, I would run to my crate and get really scared and shake. Because of this, foster mom thought it would be best if I was moved into a different foster home that didn’t have males. So, I moved into yet another new foster home in April. This brings me to my current foster home. When we arrived at my new foster home, I was so scared.  I had no idea why I was being moved again since I was getting comfortable at the last one. My new foster mom set my crate down in the living room and opened the door. I did not want to come out, she allowed me time to get comfortable. It took me 4 days to finally feel comfortable to come out. During the night she would put an x-pen up around my crate with puppy pads and my food and water in with me. At night when no one was around I would come out of my crate to eat, drink, and go potty on the puppy pads. I did that for about 4 days, then after that I finally got brave and came out of my crate. Foster mom has a resident puppy who is 8 months old and likes to play but is a bit bigger than me and kind of scared me a little. Foster mom also had a little toy cup poodle puppy who I think thought I was her mom, and I enjoyed her company. After about a week I was starting to come around. But then the foster mom had her nephews over, I did not like that. When they came over to pet me, I got really scared and warned them with a growl to not come near me. I was still not feeling comfortable with men. It has been a month now since I have been here with my foster mom and resident pup, I am still adjusting and have my days. I still get scared when foster mom comes over sometimes for no reason at all. If foster mom walks near my dog bed area where I am laying, I will get up and move. I don’t mind the resident dog, he tries to play with me, but I am just not sure what to do and I want to play but then I get scared and run back to my dog bed. When I am outside in the fenced area, I feel the happiest, my tail starts to wag, and I think foster mom knows that is where I am comfortable because I look happiest outside! I do not like seeing the leash, when I see that I freeze up and shut down and take steps backwards, so if I need to be on a leash, it’s best to pick me up and bring me to my leash while holding me. I think I would do best in a home with no other dogs or maybe a smaller quieter dog, a fenced in yard where you can just let me out to run and a preferred female only home and no kids!  I know these are high demands, but I know my perfect human is out there who will love me, and we will be best friends!  I know my bio is long, but I want people to understand me and know when you bring me home, I will be scared, and it will take time and patience and if you read this far and are still interested and think you would be a perfect fit, please apply for me! I really would love a fur ever home! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 28, 2024, 10:28 am

Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

Hi! I'm Phoebe! I'm from Kentucky! From her foster: This is Phoebe! She's a sweet, affectionate gal. She can be timid at times but has really come out of her shell since being with us. Phoebe loves to play and interact with other dogs. She's doing good with house training, keeping her on a schedule will be key. Phoebe can get a little vocal when we are outside when she hears the neighbors but hasn't barked much inside. Toys, treats and running around the yard are just a few of Phoebe's favorite things. Phoebe is the best cuddle buddy. She loves being near her people. This adorable, scruffy faced girl has a lot of love to give and is ready to find her forever family!

Story
Ryder is a sweet boy that we rescued about two years ago. He is perfect with people who give him his space until he trusts them. The issue is that he is very aggressive toward strainers and people that try to approach him other than our household members and a hand full of others. He will bite if he feels threatened, he has become a liability for our family due to the fact that in two years of training he still occasionally becomes aggressive out of the blue and will bite people. He is small so bites have caused minimal damage but we have children and their friends and our friends are have been bitten in some rare instances. He really is sweet and needs a companion to devote a lot of time. He is very attached to me but does not like any other men. He could be a great companion for an individual that lives alone and has a lot of time for snuggling and playing.

Story
This snuggly Basset mix, Hobbs, is searching for his forever home! At 2.5 years old and 47 pounds, he's fully house-trained and enjoys a calm, easygoing environment. While initially very wary of strangers, he warms up and becomes quite affectionate. An ideal situation would be a quiet household without small children, where he can be a solo canine companion or co-exist peacefully with feline friends or a dog of similar energy. Hobbs is great with cats and respects their boundaries! He thrives on companionship and enjoys walks on a leash (though leash manners are a work in progress!). Food won't be his main motivator for training, so positive reinforcement will be key. He's not a fan of being picked up, but will happily jump up on furniture when invited. He's mastering basic commands, though his stubborn streak might require some extra patience. He is particularly stubborn about his kennel and prefers to be left out. Though introverted at first, this sweet pup named Hobbs has lots of love to offer the right family. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Distemper combo vaccines appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, heartworm and flea/tick preventative while in rescue.
