Introducing Shadowfax! He is a senior boy, but you would never know it from the energy he has to play with all his doggie friends. He plays hard and cuddles hard and loves all humans and doggies. He is curious about cats but doesn’t chase. He stays well in crate while his foster is at work, but sleeps in bed at night. He has the doggie door mastered and uses it regularly. He would make a great single dog but would be great in a pack. Shadowfax is about 11 years old and weighs 18 pounds.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hello everyone! I'm Penny, a Red Short-haired Dachshund Mix  estimated to be around 8-12 years old, all the way from Arkansas. Background: My journey has been quite eventful, and I appreciate a bit of time and space to adjust. As an older lady, I sometimes struggle with my vision and hearing, which might make me seem a bit reserved initially. However, once I settle in, I promise you'll see my sweet and affectionate side shining through. My keen sense of smell compensates for any hearing and vision challenges I may have. Hobbies: I find joy in lounging on dog beds, but my absolute favorite spot is on the couch, nestled in the blanket my foster mom made for me. I thrive on companionship and love receiving gentle pets on my ears, face, and lower back. Did I mention that I love treats?! Potty Trained! Despite the challenges of my past, my foster parents are impressed with my potty skills. Adapting to the colder weather here in Minnesota can be tough on my paws, but with a cozy sweater, I'm a trooper. I enjoy outdoor breaks after naps and throughout the day because I stay very hydrated with my love for water. If it's an emergency and I have to go potty, I make sure to be a good girl and use my reusable puppy pad. Other Dogs: In my previous home, I had a bonded companion, and I miss them dearly.  I'm currently still adjusting to a 5-year-old Miniature Dachshund in my foster home. I appreciate his calm demeanor, but I am taking my time to warm up to him. Ideal Home: With a slower pace in my golden years, I'm seeking a home that offers comfort, tranquility, and relaxation for the rest of my days. I would appreciate an owner who will be understanding and be patient with me. Note from my Foster Parents: My original name is unknown, but they've lovingly named me Penny to signify my luck in getting a second chance at life, considering my copper-colored fur resembling a Penny. As a Dachshund, having small stairs or a ramp for furniture is recommended. Carrying me up and down a flight of stairs is advised due to occasional joint issues. The kennel really frightens me, so I would like to have the ability to free roam the house and not be in a kennel.  I'm not sure that I would do the best with young kids given I can get easily startled and unintentionally react due to my vision & hearing loss. I enjoy being able to sleep with my family at night. My foster parents have been taking turns sleeping next to me. I show my appreciation by being the best girl and will sleep through the entire night without waking you. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Welcome Daisey to CCPAL foster program. She is an 8-year-old Dachshund/Corgi is our best guess. She has a longer body and upright ears. She is a scenting breed for sure. She is active and social and not the couch potato dog. She weighs 25 pounds. She is good with a dog smaller and a dog larger. The larger dog is a pit Bull and she does good with that more dominant dog as well. She is around children and is a great dog for a family with kiddos. She has a 5 year old and a baby in her home. This family has found they have to move into a rental house. The rental house will only allow 2 dogs. They are sad but there is no other option. Pit Bulls are tougher to rehome so she is rehoming her favorite dog. She was crying telling this story. Daisey is potty trained, good on a leash, good in a car, good with other dogs, kids and strangers. She will need a fenced yard or walked on a leash. She can catch a scent and wonder off. She has a nice sturdy body and will make a great companion for an active family or active senior. She can be an only dog or go with another dog. This dog has a lot of good years in front of her and is by no means an old acting dog. She is in good health, vaccinated, spayed and ready for her forever home. She is a shedding dog but only moderately. She is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to help get her to Washington, Portland (Oregon), Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. Her adoption fee is 300 and transport is 200. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxWalter AKA Wishbone is a very good boy, he is house trained, has very good house manners and is respectful of the resident dog. He loves people and is a good playmate with dogs. He is very smart and picked up sit and shake right away.  Wishbone really likes to be close and cuddle with people. He can be a goofy guy when he wants to play, and he likes chew toys and plush toys. He really likes to crawl under the covers and let’s out some good snores.  Wishbone could use some more leash training, but he is a fast learner! We are still working on getting him comfortable in the kennel, but he is able to be left alone in a spare room with a baby gate and will settle quite fast. Walter may bark when left alone for a few mins, but will settle fairly quickly. Wishbone does not bark at people or dogs or when someone knocks on the door. Wishbone would love a home with another dog to play with and someone to play and cuddle with him. If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption. We accept Credit cards, Debit cards as well as cash. Adoption Fees are Non Negotialble. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance.   //

Story
Hi, my name is Mielle, though my foster mom calls me Mama or Missy. I am a doxy mix born approximately 2/20/22. I came to Minnesota all the way from Tijuana. I wasn’t too sure about the cold and snow but I like it better now that it’s getting warmer. My foster mom doesn’t know if I was a stray or in a shelter in Tijuana but she thinks possibly a stray. I’m pretty timid around new people and will hide from them. It takes me A LOT of time to adjust to new surroundings and people but once I do, watch out, as I will tempt you to play with me or follow you around. I live with my foster brother who leaves me alone. I’ve tried playing with him but get shy when he joins. I like having my kennel open during the day to nap in when I get tired, otherwise I like to explore the house, play with my toys or chill on the couch while my foster mom works. I'm fully house trained. I let her know I have to go out by whining at her and then heading to the back door. I like looking under the fence at the neighbors and would sneak into their yard if I could. So I need supervision while outside doing my business. No matter what, I get the zoomies every time I go outside now that it’s warmer out and have to do a couple laps before getting down to business. I like to sleep in my kennel at night with my blankets and a toy for when I wake up too early to come out.  The perfect family for me would be patient with me as I learn my boundaries and what they expect from me. They would love me and give me lots of pets and treats, or let me have my alone time when I need it. I’m good with smaller dogs. I have not been tested around bigger pups, or cats, whatever they are.     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $450.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 5:50 pm

Hi my name is Cookee, and I'm the sweetest treat of a pup that you'll ever meet. People say I remind them of cookies and cream when I give them sweet kisses on the nose or bump up and snuggle with them when they're feeling down. I am a Dachshund-Basset mix and medium sized about 30# full grown. Sitting on people's couches or laps is my favorite pastime as I get to snuggle close to the people I love, which is practically everyone! I LOVE OTHER DOGS TOO!! I definitely want a home with other dogs :) As I am a bit on the older side and lived on the streets until I was saved with my babies in my tummy. I have been living at my foster home and am ready for my forever HOME!! I will need a patient and loving family to give me a good life of exercise- LOL, playtime, treats, love, affection, and belonging. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)

They are 1-1/2 to 2 years old. We’ve been told they are a Dachshund/Pug mix. They weigh 14 and 8 lbs. they are very affectionate and very sweet. They love to sit on your lap and sleep under the covers with you. They can play and run around but they mostly like to just chill near their people. They are potty trained on a schedule. When it is really cold or raining out, they won’t go outside. They are pee mat trained for those days. They are a prince/princess. They do bark when the first meet other but quickly stop with some love and pets. Ryder is a sweet boy that we rescued about two years ago. He is perfect with people who give him his space until he trusts them. The issue is that he is very aggressive toward strainers and people that try to approach him other than our household members and a hand full of others. He will bite if he feels threatened, he has become a liability for our family due to the fact that in two years of training he still occasionally becomes aggressive out of the blue and will bite people. He is small so bites have caused minimal damage but we have children and their friends and our friends are have been bitten in some rare instances. He really is sweet and needs a companion to devote a lot of time. He is very attached to me but does not like any other men. He could be a great companion for an individual that lives alone and has a lot of time for snuggling and playing.

Story
Location: Blaine, MN Leah is the definition of Ride or Die, she is extremely loyal, and ready to be your life co-pilot. Leah is always up for a good play session of catch with her tennis balls, stuffed toys or a tug of war match. She LOVES toys!!! Your living room will become a stuffie graveyard on a daily basis. She does love her toys so much, she wants them all to herself. She is willing to share, but her inner spoiled child feels like they're all hers. Leah loves to be on the go. Leah is currently in a foster home with a dog, cat, children (9-14), female and male, and she's doing great! She did start off chasing the cat, so the cat has decided she does not trust Leah. Since then Leah hasn't paid much attention to the cat, but does still chase from time to time. The situation is manageable. Leah does have a strong prey drive (bunnies, squirrels, etc), so this is something to keep an eye on. If your cat is dog savy, and willing to stand their ground against Leah, the cat situation might be manageable, with the proper supervision and a strong leader. Leah and our resident dog get along great, they wrestle for hours throughout the day. Leah has met many dogs and has done well but she needs slow intros to make sure she feels comfortable. She does resource guard (only) high value treats from other animals (not humans). This has been very easy to manage (with supervision and verbal reminders). She does fine with hand fed treats and food. Her and the resident dog have so much fun playing and wrestling together, so she would love to live with a dog sister or brother. She does well with the kids in the house and loves when they play fetch with her. And she's not scared of men. Leah is so smart. She's very trainable and loves to please her people. She hasn't had any accidents and she's crate trained. She LOVES long walks and car rides. She's ready to be your co-pilot. --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, I'm Geoffrey.   If you choose me to live in your home, I promise that your lap will never be empty. I will entertain you with my playful nature be it with  toys, bones or with familiar small dog pals. I’m a very good boy sleeping all night in my crate and doing my business outside.  I  enjoy walks, happily trotting along on my leash, smelling everything. I'm from Texas and have been in a few foster homes.  I’m proud to say that I warm up quickly to my fosters especially when they give me hotdogs.  However, everyone wants to introduce me to new people, and I’m just so scared, I act out.   You see, I wasn’t socialized during the pandemic. I’m in desensitization training and I’m trying to overcome my fear of strangers.  Because I’m still learning, a shared wall residence would not be a good fit.   I promise to bring plenty of love and companionship to the right home. With patience and understanding, I'm confident that I will learn to tolerate people.  Thank you for taking the time to get to know me, and I look forward to the possibility of becoming a cherished member of your family. Geoffrey is from Texas. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
My name is Mateo but my foster mom calls me shorty, probably because of my short legs. I am a basset hound but my face looks a lot like a German shepherd.  I’m very sweet and affectionate. They think I'm around 1-2 years old. I sleep quietly in my crate at night and I haven’t had any accidents at my foster moms house. When a rescue in Mexico found me, I had been living on the streets and struggling to find meals.  I traveled a pretty far distance: all the way from Mexico to the midwest in search of a family and stability.    Because of my past with food-insecurity, I don’t know how to share snacks/treats/etc with others.  Please be patient as I try to overcome this, and help set me up for success by not having me in situations where there could be “food scuffles” with other pets.  (Thank you in advance for making sure that my needs are met and I don’t have to go hungry anymore!)   I have a lot of energy, but that’s part of my charm!  I’m a silly boy and you’re guaranteed to laugh.  I’m smart as a whip and can learn tricks and commands quite well. Although I’m high-energy, I also have great regulation skills and can calm down when it’s time for cuddles.  I may have left a warmer climate, but I am still in search of a warm HOME.  Will you open your doors and your hearts to me?  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $525.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 26, 2024, 5:50 pm

Story
When Irish eyes are smiling, does that mean they are happy? Or maybe they had too many pints at the pub? My eyes are smiling, and I am a non drinker, just want to have full disclosure here! Even though my eyes were smiling in these pictures. I was desperate for help for my little one, Lewis. You see, he was dying...full of internal and external parasites he really had no fight left in him and I knew it as his mother... so I used my Irish eyes to get us saved. AND IT WORKED!! Our lives are do amazing now, Lewis is alive and well after some very intense care, and ADOPTED INTO AN AMAZING HOME!!! I am not ever producing more babies, so it is all good! Now I get my turn for love, comfort and safety and a FOREVER HOME!! I am an adorable girl, about 50# of low-rider basset/heeler-ness. I am great with other dogs and like to play keep away! I am ready when you are, do your stuff so we can ride off into the sunset, in air conditioning, of course! Adoption application: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/GDR/Dog Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area)
